🎉if there is any leftovers, chop mix with rice roll into egg roll wraps and fry. Good on the go🎉
The sauce is his secret. Buy his cook book. 😂
What do you use to make the “sauce” you didn’t say what it consists of
What are the sauce ingredients?
Hi there they're at the recipe post here: thewoksoflife.com/mongolian-beef-recipe/; we've since started overtly stating the sauce ingredients in our video but that is one of the easiest parts of the recipe so we didn't focus on it too much as you just mix everything together before tossing it into the wok. Rest assured we're making an effort to note sauce ingredients in our videos from now on! Apologies for the inconvenience. We're learning the tube ;)
I loved this! Whoever is behind the camera earned my subscription. She is hilarious! Bill's not so bad himself
heheheh thank you! That is me-Kaitlin! :) 😁
I haven't made this one, but it's one of a million bookmarked recipes in the The Woks of Life, the cookbook. So good!
Hey Bill, another excellent video. This makes my mouth water!
Perfection here! Thank you. I knew just by the texture and process here that this is the go-to recipe. Checked out your book from the public library today, and one look, one try at this recipe, and had to purchase the book! Thank you again. This beef is melt in your mouth tender.
You guys should seriously be over 300K subs by now. Its a travesty. Great quality content.
Thank you so much! If only the algorithm knew lol but we're keepin on keepin on!
That looks so good it's almost ridiculous. I am salivating from here. This is on my menu for this weekend 100%
just made this, i loved it. i used chili flake because thats all i had but still, turned out amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe, and your time with us!
Thanks Bill!
it is one of my faves this is really nice not too sweet, not gloopy just right, greatly appreciated
😄😄😄😄 thanks so much, Rick!
That was fun to watch! Thanks for sharing!
I just seasoned my wok and definitely making this week. Thank you.
I just made this and it's a HUGE HIT! THANK U
Holy Smokes!!! I just watched like a DOZEN videos on Mongolian Beef and yours, BY FAR, looks the nicest, appears the most appetising, and looks the most like a restaurant dish. Gotta try this!
wow that really means a lot! Thank you so much!!! 🥰
As guests in your home, I thank you for a lovely visit with family. A special treat was seeing a well-used wok. Cast iron? Well, one must use what’s available. Well done!
thank you so much for the kind words :) cast iron is great for shallow frying! and the beef can be tossed in the sauce in just about any skillet!
I love the cookbook!! It is a permanent fixture on my kitchen island! ❤
🥳🥳🥳🥳 that makes us so happy to hear!!
Looks delicious!! Thanks for sharing. I will try this recipe at home.
This recipe is the real deal. I made it today and it taste like it came from a high-end Chinese restaurant. Rarely do recipe from youtube come out this great in reality.
🤩🤗
This is one of the most beautiful mongolian beef dishes I've ever seen. It's my favorite Chinese dish. You can always see when mongolian beef is perfectly cooked ... just like yours in this video.
(I used to be a smoker. My taste buds got screwed up and most foods tasted awful, but not always. Asian food, for some reason, was always good. I accidentally ate a red chili pepper. It was so hot and spicy like nothing I experienced. Anyway, it woke my dead and dying buds !! Set them on fire !! After the heat died down, the food was delicious like the old days. I now eat the red chili peppers before every meal and they always work !!)
Thank you for showing us the michelin version of mongolian beef.
wow thank you so much for the kind sentiments :)
Such a beautiful recipe Chef ❤
Thank you for sharing this. ❤ Hello from Lillington, North Carolina
Thanks for this detailed process video. A question about the baking soda: is it an option to apply it on the beef, wash it off and then marinate with the other ingredients? I am always a bit wary when adding baking soda.
This dish is excellent!! Thanks for the video. My wife and I both really enjoyed not only eating it but also making it. Cleanup wasn't bad either.
we love an easy cleanup :)
I LOVE this channel! But, would also like to see more of the Mongolian BBQ party-style with various meats, noodles, veggies, sauces, rices, soups, etc - all at the same time.
Just made this tonight - followed it exactly, even using a sheet pan. Easily one of the best things I have ever made. Unanimously considered crazy delicious by young and old alike. Thank you.
That is awesome!! Yes!!! You're very welcome :)
Thank you for the great recipe 🙂
I love this video, and I love Mongolian beef, so I have to try and make this. I can't wait for my cookbook to arrive.
One question though at the end. Is that how most Chinese families will eat a meal? A small bowl of rice, and then big plate of the main meal and you just pick it off that plate and then bring it to your rice bowl?
Thewoksoflife1
I have to get your cookbook.
I cooked from your video once and it left me speechless!
It was an old family recipe but it was delicious. Following you step by step in your videos are the best!
thank you so much! You're gonna love it :)
I enjoyed that. Thank you
Looks amazing
Oh my goodness. I'm so hungry now...and it's only 9:15am! I couldn't find Mongolian Beef anywhere right now if I wanted. :( Thank you so much for sharing. I can't wait to try this at home!!
you'll love it!!
New subscriber here! I have watched only two videos and have fallen in love with you and your family! Also, don't get rid of the music. Your whole vibe is awesome!❤
thank you for the vote on the music! :) We enjoy it too!
Love it! I enjoy your book as well. Making this for dinner so good! Love the part when your wife says "asking for a nightmare on the toilet" and she sounds like Minnie Mouse so cute!
I had dinner not an hour ago: My mouth is watering!
Brother your mongolian beef looks fantastic! I got my 2 pack of Shaoxing cooking wine and dark soy sauce yesterday, will be making a double batch when my store gets fresh flank beef in. I'm stoked
Stoked is the word!!!!
Very nice and I love your sharing the non-Chinese history of this dish! Made it two years ago using another recipe including oyster sauce, but it turned out a bit sweet for my taste - sugary as Sarah said. I like Bill's thought of keeping it pure. Many other occasions exist where we can eat vegetables. Will surely give your recipe a try, and I do have your now-famous cookbook including the raw manuscript. 🙂
you have to try this version, Mark! :) raw manuscript? where on earth did you get that hahah
@@Thewoksoflife1 Sorry, I meant the “bonus pack” that you shared with those who pre-ordered the book... So why do I feel this urge to promote your channel wildly? ;-)
@@MarkAlbert ahhh that makes more sense lol! as always thanks for being such a supporter of our youtube channel, Mark! ☺
Looks delicious
Awesome channel. ❤❤❤
This turned out to be good! Except it still is a bit sweet for my liking. The sauce tasted fine before adding but once it reduced and thickened in the wok it definitely got sweeter. I’m definitely making this again, but adding less sugar next time.
OMGosh! That looks so delicious, & I just finished supper. Lol
hahahaa
Omg that my favorite food .that looks so so good.were the rice at
Hi, thanks for all the videos and your book (it's perfect 😋)! I have a request, can you add a translation of the subtitles for the Czech Republic (Czech language)? Thank you so much for everything you do, you are amazing!💪🏻
Hi David, we'll look into whether we can automatically do that through youtube!
I am guessing you're bill. Great video and recipe. Many thanks sir.
Ok I just ordered my third copy of your book. We showed it to our butcher because I was interested in making your Mongolian beef recipe. My butcher said this is from the skirt steak used stir fried.
When I reached for the book he suggested a trade of beef cuts, chicken and he threw in seafood. My dog is old so he needs liver an suet.
All in all he had two boxes of meat. I make chicken foot soup. It’s a clear broth with a chicken foot from my Grand mother’s recipe. It’s good for colds and flu. The chicken feet gives me collagen.
It’s a fair trade because the butcher always find things I am interested in.
Question are you thinking of making a pocket cookbook as well? Just asking assertively hint hint Lol
Thanks 🙏 you.
Love your recipes. Question: I make your slurry but in a matter of minutes. while eating. the sauce deflates and turns running and liquidy. I saw in one of your recipes you used flour along with the cornstarch. Should I do that too?
that probably needs you need more! when cornstarch thickened sauces cool down they can lose their viscosity. This is just how cornstarch works but it shouldn't be thinning down like that mid-meal so try more cornstarch slurry next time!
@@Thewoksoflife1 Thank you. Love your orange chickent!
hello to all, i follow you some time and made lot of your recipes and we have many favourites!
I have just one comment I wish the voice sound level is higher in your videos as I have to basically make the sound double loud compared to others. otherwise all the best and wish you lot of new exciting recipes!
Hi thanks for that input! We'll try to work on that! 💛
OMGAWD YES PLEASE 🙏. LOOKS PHENOMENALLY DELICIOUS. LOOOOOOOVE MONGLIAN BEEF. ORDER IT EVERY TIME I EAT CHINESE FOOD 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Does not have to be "toasted" red pepper? I used, I think they were just dried, out in the open in large bin at the local grocery store, seemed fine. Thanks. I'm back, so I can maybe memorize this. Ok, finished watching, I cut my dried red peppers into a few pieces before frying, used way less, and still spicy good. Toasted, after we cook them they become toasted. Had no idea red peppers can add flavor without being cut open. I'm no health expert, but I recommend eating red peppers a little, glad you showed eating one. I think it's frying oil too hot or too long or reusing oil that can also/causes toilet problems. Maybe you can add insight into how to make good white rice, and which brands to seek out from Asian grocery store, maybe some cookers. Because restaurant rice also seems better than mine, but this Mongolian Beef recipe is, amazing, just like restaurants!
Some Chinese restaurants do not make the beef crunchy for Mongolian beef so I think there are two ways to make it. Either the crunchy way you show or non crunchy. Also I like a red onion to the dish.
Where I come from, get 2-3 times the rice and twice the green onions. With vegetables on the side, feeds a family of 4 or 5.
Yum
what about putting the cornstarch and beef into a bag and shaking it up?
Good idea!
Will try this, looks great. Hate the music
Great recipe, your wife (not husband 😂) is shouting in the back that you forgot to show us how you made that sauce and the red dry peppers are called chilies 😊
what is in the sauce ?
How do i get the recipe? YUM
We always link our recipe in the description box. There's tons more detail over at the blog! 🤗 thewoksoflife.com/mongolian-beef-recipe/
I've referenced a bunch of muddy flavored , non crispy beef recipes from alleged Chefs. This is NOT one of them. Bravo. I'm beginning to call WOKS of life my recipe reference.
_damn_ that looks good - eubastad
Link to the website is in the description.
Did I miss the sauce recipe?
Ha, yes the "mistery" sauce..., I am sure if had that ingediant...
I’d add more scallion tops tho😊😊😊😊😊😊
Add Baking soda in water and soak beef for 1/2 hr . Then rinse the soda off . This will tenderize the meat ... Then DON'T put soda in marinade
My husband loves it? 🤔
I quess I missed the ingredients of the sauce. Too bad.
We should have included an on screen note of what was in the sauce, but it's all in the full recipe, which is what you'll need to cook the dish up properly :) thewoksoflife.com/mongolian-beef-recipe/
Oh.. No flank steak in wet markets of Asian countries I think.. So not sure if Carabao will do😂
How do you do a whole video and not talk about what's in the marinade or the sauce???
That's what I was thinking!😅
I drediants????
Why not just toss the beef in flour instead of dredging each piece?
2:03 this sauce?
@@TrggrWarning ?????
Real estate? Come on!
Did he just say husband?
he probably meant wife…😂
we were speaking from the viewer's perspective! :)
@@Thewoksoflife1 I’m sorry I thought you had a husband
Forgive me that is none of my business but it kind of rubs me wrong way
Wish you all the best!
Tip: lose the music, it’s very distracting and not necessary.
Shut up. It's his show. Get a cook book
No music.
Hmm. I thought it was nice. I disagree.
Somebody's grumpy! 🧐
I like the music. You are so rude..
Great music choice.
This honestly isn't that good. Wouldn't make again
Super underwhelming... would not make again.
Marinate in what? Dredge in what? No help.
Hi Doug, we have all the details in the recipe post. thewoksoflife.com/mongolian-beef-recipe/
You lost me at “my husband loves it”
Oh Man! You ruined that beef. Instead of overcooking it, like you did, you should have tossed it quickly in the hot oil and lifted it out; no colour on the beef, just the cornstarch stuck to the beef, ready to accept the sauce in the next step. If you cooked it like I suggested, it should melt in your mouth
What is wrong with you? Washing your meat? So you just get low quality beef or something?
To much talking, video to long.
Ok all he said was a little bit of baking soda, corn starch, water, wine and didn’t say exactly how much. A little bit, like 3 teaspoon, 4 table spoon? WTH, dumb vid.
All the measurements are at the provided recipe link in the description: thewoksoflife.com/mongolian-beef-recipe/
