Obsessed with these videos! And always interesting to see how often apartments are unfurnished in NYC, from my exp in London it is much more common to rent a furnished space (even at higher rent prices), because it would feel too much to invest on furniture for a place you don't own!
so the first broker video you showed for the apartment on 8th Street - that's not the East Village but Alphabet City, which is known for being pretty far from the trains. Especially since it looks like its past Tompkins Square Park. It's a good area with some great coffee shops, restaurants, etc, but it's so far out.
Automatic like for including prices and budget. Also, I’m very obsessed with looking at streeteasy too. I don’t move literally til july but I’ve been looking since last august. So when the time finally comes, I’ll be VERY familiar with all the apartments available and the ones that have been sitting. I also know a few pictures that seem to be in several listings so I don’t trust those places anymore. And I’m getting pretty familiar with different boroughs and neighborhoods. I’ve changed my search from several lower/mid Manhattan to only a few neighborhoods(UWS, chelsea, UES) plus williamsburg/park slope/brooklyn heights and very recently astoria. If anyone has opinions on any of those neighborhoods please let me know!
i'm not moving anytime soon lol but your apartment videos has been so helpful on what i want to look for in the future! i especially love when there's stairs included (separation from work/living room area and bedroom area is a must!)

Right?? I'm from Switzerland and i know Zurich City is pretty expensive as well. Some appartments can be 8K but they will be VEEERY LUXURIOUS. I'd say a 1 bedroom appartment will be around 1.5 - 2 K a month. And if you need more that that it can easily be 3-4 K. But most people will share their flats if they cost that much. OR they just move 10 minutes away from zurich and they will get a lot more for their money 😅. I live in the middle of switzerland and my apprtment is 1'185 square feet, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, big kitchen, big balcony (400 square feet), washer and drier AND everything is freshly renovated. I pay 1625 $/month. I mean that is a awesome deal!!

Tip for checking if an apt has good light... use the compass on your phone and face the windows. If the windows are SOUTH facing then you'll have great bright light. Accounting that the window isn't facing a wall of course
You have everything going for you. Tall, beautiful, well-off, adventurous personality 🙂. The world is your oyster. Flats in NYC are definitely not cheap.

The difference in rent is truly amazing to me, my partner and I are looking for a flat rn and our budget is like... 650 euros max, but... together so like 325-350 max for each of us. And even though rent prices have gone up a lot it’s not even close to nyc by a loooooongshot

That 3rd apt feels like a 1 bdrm. I’d add a butcher block rolling island to make the kitchen bigger, (casual) dining area in that downstairs “living room”, and have the actual living room upstairs.

the fact that you can choose to "go upstairs" or "go downstairs" when you're stuck at home so much this year will make a HUGE difference
