    Hi Tara, I had problems with melting cells and did a video on it as well and I think it has to do like you were suggesting with the Jo Sonia, and it was near the end of my batch of pouring medium mix with Glidden and Jo Sonia. My theory was I may not have mixed by pouring medium enough before usage and when I got to the end of that PM batch, the varnish was highly concentrated and caused problems. So I think you’re onto something with that. Great results though always learning.

      It’s funny how finicky this mix can be right? For this batch the josonja was only used to disperse pigments. It wasn’t used in my PM at all. I’m pretty confident it’s the JoSonja so I’m going to steer clear of that for a while. I’m going to try dispersing with Varathene and see if that is any different. The GAC 100 worked fine with these pigments but the new Persephone did not like it at all. It stayed chunky. I’m going to keep experimenting in November as soon as I get back from my anniversary trip! ❤️🙏🏻☺️

    I was so glad to hear you say still pretty effects. I think they are both beautiful but i do like the valspar the best. When i see melting early on i wreck it lol. Thanks for doing these experiments. It is so frustrating when you think you have it and then something changes. Appreciate this. Catching up on videos. ❤️❤️

      Thanks August! Yea the second one was so easy! What’s nice too is that it doesn’t separate like the ones with the varnish in them so you so don’t have to worry about air bubbles when remixing.

    I’ve been getting melting cells in the middle of my blooms, it’s shattering when you make a beautiful piece your happy with and then it is ruined by the melting! I thought it was too much paint, or too much tilting but now that makes sense that maybe it is the Jo Sonya. I haven’t got Facebook so can’t check the group, but I’m so glad I came across your video, thank you ❤️ I’m using the Australian formula too so I’m thinking now it must be the Jo Sonya. 😊

    • @PiecesofTaraArtistry

      Yes it is very frustrating, I agree! The Jo Sonja is a culprits for sure with this mixture. I’d love to hear what happens if you remove it! ❤️🙏🏻☺️

      I just did some more blooms last night and added less Jo Sonya or if it was too thick just Jo water and they came out great! I think I was getting too carried away with the Jo Sonya adding too much. Thanks so much helping me figure out the problem 😊 I will know now if it happens again I can leave the Jo Sonya out as well. Your paintings are beautiful by the way 🩷

    I had problems with my cells melting too. Then I decided my bloom paints had been sitting in their jars too long so I made a fresh batch using Shelee's California Recipe, because that is where i am, and they didn't melt. It was 1 part Behr 3300 to 2 parts Varathane Triple Thick.

    • @PiecesofTaraArtistry
      @PiecesofTaraArtistry  8 месяцев назад

      Yes I am very confident my problems stem from the JoSonja! I might try that mixture too! ❤️☺️🙏🏻

    I’ve been getting too many melting cells. I call them sad clown cells.😂 Thanks, I’m going to try to use josonya sparingly and use the valspar. You know how it is; I’ve got to use the rest of my product until I move on. 😢thank you for sharing your experience with us❤

      Yea try and take out the Josonja and make sure you have a good consistency of 2-3 second trace. I forgot to mention that I added a tiny bit of gloss gel medium to my paints to thicken them up a bit. ❤️

    Both are beautiful and was wondering if you’ve tried the liquitex gloss varnish instead of the josonya haven’t tried it but many others have. Also what about the josonya water mix that they use ? Add a little water to it and see if that helps to thin out the gloss varnish?? Have no idea what that would do but all I could think of! Ps enjoy your day and week

    • @PiecesofTaraArtistry
      @PiecesofTaraArtistry  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much Sherry! I haven’t tried the Liquitex. I’ll have to do some more research on that! I’m not sure the jowa would work because you need to have a binder for the pigment and water won’t bind it. That being said maybe I’m totally wrong. 🤣 You have a great day as well! ❤️🙏🏻☺️

      When I show the area of melt at the end you see that the cells that were once crisp are now wonky and wobbly and melting one into another. I hope that helps.
