July To November Sketchbook - Five Months In Ink And Watercolour!

  • Another sketchbook stuffed to the gills with sketches of Ireland and abroad. This time it's mostly Galway on Ireland's West Coast, with a bit of Dublin and even a page or two from the Roman excavations near Naples in Italy.
    (I forgot to point out at the start that I was in Dunmore East in Co. Waterford - where you see the thatched cottages and the chair with the blackboard on it - to teach an urban sketching workshop with the very wonderful art school called Artform.)
    As always I have thoroughly enjoyed giving you my own commentary on the pages and sketches and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed recording it!
    There's a small bit of promo at the end for my classes, but I genuinely see such satisfaction and pleasure from the community that I think you should at least try the free classes, you never know - you might be opening a door to years of creative joy through the wonderful media of ink and watercolour.
    (I think the era of music in my RUclipss has come to an end. Everything I use has always been completely royalty-free - I pay for the service! - but I guess no one has told RUclips, and they are sending me messages. I love adding music to my videos, lots of my viewers don't, but they will be soundtrack-free in future! This means all my very amateur audio will be more obvious with no music to camouflage it..!)
    Just head to my website - roisincure.com - and it should all make sense. You can always drop me an email to sketchwithroisin@gmail.com if you have any difficulties.
    Enjoy!

    Loved seeing the pages of this sketchbook, and especially hearing the commentary that goes with them, but it did remind me that I’m quite behind on the classes, I must get busy catching up! ❤

      Only if you want to. I lost members because they felt they were falling behind so it’s important to me that no one feels pressure! They’re there for at least another year so there’s hi panic at all. Wait for a dull day to catch up!

    Hi Róisin. Jim from Madrid, Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad).
    Another beautiful sketchbook full of memories!
    I'm still learning how to sketch people better. I'm more into wildlife and nature, and I started last year 2023 to enjoy doing more urban sketching, but drawing people have always been difficult for me.
    Anyways, great video and always fun to watch your sketches and listening to your stories behind each sketch!
    Cheers from Sunny Spain!

      Hi Jim, people are hardest because we know so well what they look like. So any mistakes jump out at us! But practice (always from life) makes perfect and with honesty and learning to LOOK more closely, we get there.

    I would love to see the beauty in life and capture it like this in art, how do you pick what you're going to draw or does it come to you in spurts? is it practice? I'm blown away by the amount of fun and love you put into these sketches. fantastic work 💕

    • @roisincure
      @roisincure  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Rosie! I would say it’s a combination of random stuff that catches my eye, gathering subject matter for class, and wanting to capture a place I’ve been. For sure it’s practice though, eventually your brain gets tired of being wary and just jumps in. I will talk about how to get there in another video, it’s a good trick. And thank you!
