- Hello Sketcher!
If you're like me, you love to sit outdoors on a nice day and sketch blossoms in ink and watercolour. It can be tricky to keep them loose and fresh, but the technique I demonstrate here makes them accessible, and lots of fun.
Please share my channel with your art-loving friends and those who love Ireland, they will thank you for it!
There will be lots more videos over the summer, which is the time in Ireland for sketching outdoors, so make sure to subscribe to my channel, and leave your notifications bell on.
This video was shot in the grounds of Kilmacurragh House in Co. Wicklow. The sketching on the spot was made possible by my wonderful SketchPocket, which comes everywhere with me. I have been inundated with requests for this amazing bag, and they'll be available from the summer of 2024 onwards, with a bit of luck!
My mum is well on the way to recovery and we were both overjoyed to spend such a special day together.
See you next time! - Развлечения
How lovely to have a mum you can paint with. This is super. Thank you.
We feel very lucky, both of us, Carol ❤️
Here we are on a road trip to NW Oregon and rhododendrons are blooming everywhere! All colors! Thanks for this!
Sounds super!
Love the idea of printing on fabric for such a wonderful patterned dress!
I think so too! I have form - I printed lots of my barbershop sketches onto fabric and made a couple of skirts and a pair of togs for my son (who was the reason I used to be in the barbers a lot!)
Both paintings are just beautiful! ❤
@@JoAnneSmith-di8ok thanks! 🤩
So lovely to share with your mom. My mom took me along on a summer watercolor class when I was about 12 and I still have and treasure those paintings. I'm older now than my mom was then. This made me miss her! Thanks for sharing with all of us.
We are so lucky to have wonderful moms. I am sorry it made you miss her but that’s love. ❤️
Rhododendrons are native to the Appalachian Mountains in the United States, but probably are native elsewhere. The one that grow near me are more lavender, but your reds are beautiful. I'm glad you were able to spend quality time with your dear mother.
Well the purple ones have taken over Co Kerry, so badly that people go out with machetes! But you can’t fight them 😱
So fun seeing you and you adjacent family generations pursuing art together. Thank you for sharing. I’m in Arizona US and there are rhododendrons all around here too. Can’t imagine how they survive in both these diverse climates.
Yes…I guess they are true survivors! And thank you! 🤩 ❤️
I love the mother-daughter team and the different styles compared. I must go paint something like this now!
Enjoy! And thank you, my mother will love to read that!
Coollll, I like your mum's flowers pretty much. Big hug to her ❤
Thank you so much! I’ll pass it on!
Beautiful art, and so lovely to watch you painting there with Cinnie(love that name) and listening to the bird song.
Bless you xx
Thank you! 🤩 ❤️
Really enjoyed this video Roisin, and so nice to see you paint with you Mum too!
Yes we love to go out together!
This is so good, what a fun video ☺☺
Thank you very much!
Wonderful! So, artistic flair is in the genes! My heart goes out to your mum as I am a bit incapacitated too at the moment (full knee replacement). My usual sketchbuddy is sending me a photo she's taken each day to draw from, while I convalescence, and I've got about 12 little paintings now... 😄
My heart goes out to you too! You know, there’s a sketch bag out there where the ads are full of young, hip people on tops of mountains and so on…so I say “hers are for hipsters, mine are for people having hip replacements” - I loved the idea that people who are immobile or convalescing will be able to have all their sketching stuff together :)
@@roisincure Ha ha, Excellent!!
How lovely to go out sketching with your mum! Thanks for this videos, I love sketching rhododendrons too but often fall into the trap of sketching individual flowers. Will try this technique of yours the next time. Lovely too to see this garden again, we once visited it during a holiday in county Wicklow.
It’s a pleasure! Yes do give it a try ❤️
Love it! ❤❤
Thank you! 🤩
Hope your mum heals up well. Nice you're able to to help her out and still have fun together. How many fude pens do you keep in your sketch kit?
I keep about 4 because I like lots of colours. And thank you!
Love it…and so nice to see your individual styles. Rhododendrons really remind me of the Irish summer….plus the smell of coconut from the brilliant yellow gorse …and the beautiful fragrant honeysuckle in the hedges….so many wonderful inspiring things to paint.😊
The gorse is insane at the moment! The scent is wonderful and almost overpowering in places. I love it. Reminds me of my childhood in the Wicklow Mountains, as does the honeysuckle….🥲
What a lovely painting, so beautiful, and your mom is a great painter as well! Thanks to both of you for sharing... ❤❤
It’s our great pleasure!
These are lovely. I really struggle with florals and then tend to overwork them……. Disaster. I really must save up and get more Fude pens and a variety of inks. Raid my piggy bank.
Much better spent on pens and inks than piggies ❤️
❤
Such beautiful work by you and your mum. May I ask what sketchbook you use?
It’s there in the video! Hahnemühle. And thenk you kindly!
@@roisincure Of course, I saw it after my question! Thank you, Roisin!
Do you have several of the fude pens, each filled with a different colour of ink? Do you prefill them or come to your sketching site with empty pens and fill them as needed?
I have about four or five colours when I go out.
