I use MPB too. Everything I purchased from them has exceeded my expectations. And with 14 day no hassle returns and a 6 month warranty, its kind of a no brainer.
I have spoken to potential new photographers who want to go by the latest, most expensive camera for a hobby they are no even sure if they are going to stick with. I am not sure that makes sense. I remind that that used gear allows you to 'explore' a little more and not spend as much money. Then, figure out what you like and what you really need in equipment. Then, if you must, go buy a new camera. Then you'll have a backup camera and a start on lenses.
There are many good used camera resellers. MPB is my favorite for cameras and lenses.

Heck yeah a used camera is absolutely worth it. Or a hobbiest who just wants to upgrade.

I had professional new expensive gear. Sold everything and last years I only buy secondhand except my Ricoh GRIIIx.
I suppose there is some equipment that you should be buying new, but for most of us, used gear works great and meets all the needs.
