    Hey Woody putting a "gate" on the guitar input, makes the sound silent between the chords automaticly.
    A gate Opens when it gets a specific set volume, and closes when sound goes below that treshold.
    So using a gate means no more manual volume automation.
    The guitar rig has a GATE in the top of the plugin screen.
    Just activate it and up the treshold.
    Hope this is of any help :-)
    Happy end year man!

      Gates can create an even less natural sound than what this automation sounds.

    The 17 cabinets ARE there. The “matched cabinet” contains different variations for different amps. You change them with the little drop down on the left that says “jump”. There will be a list of the other models to choose from.

    Sounds like a little of Badfinger influence in the song, which is not bad at all. Its got a nice late sixties early seventies vibe to it. The fret squeaks never bother me personally I've heard them on a lot of songs the one that springs to mind is "Stairway to Heaven" and some Guns & Roses songs. Its quite common I wouldn't worry about it thats how you know it was played by a human and not a computer.
    I use guitar rig 5 a lot myself. It's good for using the tape deck to play with a song.

    Nice little guitar video you made here! I'm personally not the biggest fan of Guitar Rig myself. My favorite program to use like this is TH3 by Overloud. You get a nice free, full version trial, that you can download for a few weeks I think (not sure how long the trial lasts, but it's long enough). Recommend checking it out if you're into these kinds of programs :).

    I don't have the free version here to try, but maybe the drop-down menu in the Jump Cabinet allows to choose cabinets of all the amplifiers, that are, indeed, 17.
    So you cannot have the all the amplifiers but you maybe can select their cabinets... worth trying for who's using the Player version...
    I agree that, if so, it's quite badly explained in their website...

    Used to use Guitar Rig loads in the past, but got fed up with the sound it put out, and also on a big project the latency could become a pain if I had to increase buffer to buy me cpu power.
    I switched to amplitude for a bit and did enjoy some of the models on there, but I eventually (and surprisingly!) ended up using Logic built-in amp sims and/or Waves GTR which I know isn't as well received.
    ...that was until I tried micing my real amps up - damn!!! This for me is so much better than running through a vst/au - that's no dis-service to any amp sims as they're great, dare I say it probably better sound than I would get myself via micing my humble amps.
    However, for me I just seem to play and create better music using a hardware amp, and it's something I wish I tried years ago. But I'm discovering each passing year that less is more, whereas in the past I had a belief that the bigger and better things would always yield better results.
    Great video by the way! :-)

    • @WoodyPianoShack
      @WoodyPianoShack  6 лет назад

      my enjoyment comes from playing a guitar straight into a simple low-watt tube amp, not even pedals, i appreciate a back to basics approach in the guitar world after all the synths and music tech! i'll slap a mic in front of the cab next time for sure!

    • @Skijumptoes
      @Skijumptoes 6 лет назад

      Don't you find as you get older that you think the same way with synths too? Sometimes the more basic they are, the easier, or rather more constructive it can be to work within those confines - as long as the quality is there?
      I use to have so many 'rules' set in my head, and i would always seek 'the best' within my budget, spend months deciding on equipment to buy - but a lot of the time i would buy based on 'bang for buck', when i should've just gone with my heart - if only if that was because of how something looked, because i think that too makes a big difference if you have 'nice' stuff around you, it paints your environment well.
      One thing i have learnt is that it's worth listening to people who know and have experienced gear first hand (You for example are such a great source of knowledge). Also the example of your low-watt tube amp is such a prime example of that experience yielding itself for you. Most people want the biggest watt and the most features possible for their money, when in fact you can hone your craft, and get more enjoyment long term from a smaller tube. Numerous time i've had to explain this to people in the people in the past who can't understand why a little practise valve amp would be better than a 100w Line 6 Spider cause it doesn't 'do' much. Gagghhhh!!! (Need your video clip there lol).
      You only got to see what Bob Ross does with a large brush, beat up easel and some paints to appreciate how the importance of working and honing yourself within that sphere of quality and familiarity that your creativity can exist and evolve within.
      Anyway, Happy New Year, hope for you personally you have a great year, seems like many humps and bumps last year, so let's hold a toast to smooth sailing, health and happiness! :)
      WAIT!! Where's my food and drink gone?!! Who's put me back in this office?! I don't like being here guys... take me home now.... NO! NO! Not a meeting with excel on the smart board, i can't... i can't....!! :)

      >>Skijumptoes: You said it all, sir! What's more, neither in the demo sections nor in in the finished track did I hear anything that couldn't be done better with an "ancient" multi-effects unit. A waste of a Strat, I'd say, when a Woolworths Audition guitar would have achieved the same quality (=none). Still, I enjoyed the demo.

    How do you rate Guitar Rig when compared to micing up an amp with pedalboard?

  • @MysteronLunaris
    @MysteronLunaris 6 лет назад

    I just got the pro version and am trying to trouble shoot it. A coupe o' questions:
    A) Your original tracks sound really clean. Are you recording them as unfiltered audio tracks through an audio interface?
    B) I'm getting lots of static and hissing when either I try to make my own amp setups or use the factory ones. Any ideas why? I'm using Logic and just connecting through my audio interface, and have not had that problem when using Logic's amp models.

    • @WoodyPianoShack
      @WoodyPianoShack  6 лет назад

      A) guitar plugged in to audio interface and recorded clean, no fx.
      B) if you have too much gain dialed in then there can be hiss, just like on a real guitar amp. i'm guessing your guitar we recorded at too low a level, so you have to turn up the virtual guitar amps too much.

    What have all these emulation companies done? All the prices are 299 dollars? For no hardware? What a rip off. Just buy a real amp.

      You need a usb audio interface which you will then plug into your laptop, and in which you will plug in the guitar with a standard cable. That's it pretty much!

      @@ThatGuy-ep7xq thanks for that, what would you recommend regarding the usb audio interface? regards

      @@richardparry7083 Honestly I'm no expert on this topic, but I've been using an audio interface called Lexicon Alpha for the past 5 years, and it has worked great. It's also very cheap.
      However I've heard a lot of good things about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd Gen, so you might want to look into that.
      Anyhow, any usb audio interface with an instrument input, headphone out, and 2 line outs should do it. Depending on whether or not you're going to use some kind of monitors or headphones. You need line outs for monitors.
