I appreciate you loading this. Your playing is so beautiful, capturing the real feel of David's solos. My favorite has always been Dogs. I can only imagine the amount of time and effort you put into this. God bless you and have an amazing rest of your life. These type of videos are perfect for RUclips as they inspire all people, or all race, gender, ethnicity, and location.
Wow, just WOW !!! I just get started into David Guilmour's universe, and I was looking for good solos/tabs... Damn Guillaume, you nailed it, we can feel your true passion and hard work on this masterpieces. ;)
OUTSTANDING Guillaume! It's so nice to see you at the beginning of the video and hear your review of how you achieved your tone. As always, another great tutorial. Thank you for your continued commitment to excellence. You are appreciated!
Grazie Guillaume!
Funny thing is, I've got that guitar. Same Olympic white seventies Strat with bullet trussrod and rosewood fretboard. Not so funny thing is that now I have to learn all these solos, ha ha. Great video, I'll be back. 👍👍👍
@@GuillaumeVrac I am so envious of someone like you, playing like you do. My problem is: these tabs... i keep on looking at and processing the numbers and fingers, it's not my way of learning. Watching the left hand is also hard as it's not always clear which finger goes where or whether a finger is lingering above a string or pushing on the string. I cannot for the life of me understand how you do this? How long does it take you to learn that comfortable numb solo for instance? Every time I watch this I am more inclined to set my strat on fire and go play bridge of go fishing...
Bonjour.

I´ve been trying to learn the solo from ´Mother´, one of the best imo, even if it´s a short solo. I sound crap though. You surely did not, great playing sir!
Impeccable.
Well played, but “Dogs” has a couple actual guitar solos that are bad ass. The part you played almost feels like some sort of chorus. I only care because it’s my favorite Pink Floyd song and album haha

I love how much Dave allows each and every note to breathe. He extracts the maximum soul out of every bend he makes. His solos can truly transport you to another universe. Pink Floyd is so lucky they found him, Roger's lyrics would be incomplete without the sound of Gilmour. And of course what a partner Gilmour had in Richard Wright.
This just shows me what a mountain I have to climb. I'm 68 years old and I accept the challenge. Bless your heart for giving me a high target to aim at 👍
@@mrdrifter3925 Roger Waters had nothing to do with Gilmour's playing or solo on Paul McCartney's "No More Lonely Nights" . He's just a great player. Also, you might want to check out Gilmour's "On An Island" album that Roger had nothing to do with. Specifically, the solo in the song "The Blue", which is considered to be one of the best blues solos ever written, which was written by Gilmour.
@@Peetie_Wheatstraw one of the best blues solos ever written, don’t make me laugh. And yeah I saw it live in st marks square august 2005. Don’t try and educate me when it comes to the floyd.
@@mrdrifter3925 I read it in an article called "Top 10 blues solos ever". If you don't agree, who cares! David Gilmour writes his own solos. BTW, I don't doubt your credentials as a self-proclaimed Pink Floyd expert even if you're completely wrong about who wrote Gilmour's solos, which, of course, was Gilmour. Even Roger Waters praises Gilmour's solos if you bother to research his statements on the web. I'm not that much of a Pink Floyd fan, but I am a fan of David Gilmour's guitar playing. Also, it's interesting you claim to have seen "The Blue" solo in 2005 at St. Marks Square when the "On An Island" album wasn't released until March 6, 2006 ... "On an Island is the third solo studio album by Pink Floyd member David Gilmour. It was released in the UK on 6 March 2006, Gilmour's 60th birthday, and in the United States the following day." I'm sure you meant to state August 2006.
Gilmours solos sound great. We all know that. But why? I would say look at the way he lands notes on the chord changes. He always picks a great note from the next chord coming up, to land on. Whether it’s the 3rd of that chord or the 7th or the 5th or even the root, he lands a strong note from the next chord, right on the beat, and usually gives it a bend up and vibrato. David G works these solos out in the studio for hours and hours to get a great melodic sounding melody for a solo. A lot of trial and error I’d imagine, and he “strings together” the best parts that he’s played over the progression. He just has a great ear and feel and doesn’t rush. It’s all very natural and relaxed sounding. He’s awesome.
You have done it! This video should be THE video people find when looking up Gilmore related things. It will be extremely tough to top the comprehensiveness, accuracy of playing, and musicality faithful to the original. I thoroughly enjoyed the video and felt like the melody lines were telling a story, explaining simply how things unfold within this wonderful reality!
A lot of guitar players can play the notes, but very few can put the emotion into it,it's a gift of timing, what to leave out, emphasis on notes and a lot of magic and soul.
"David Gilmour can do more with one note than most of these kids out there with these incredible solos." Dave Mustaine...
He said it best; it’s what I was literally just thinking

Incredible player. Been playing guitar for decades and he blows the mindless shredders away. So musical and tasteful.
So true.
Joe Walsh is equal with David Gilmore for the passion of the note.
When I think, of the longevity of David Gilmour as a guitarist, I personally think, he is the best lead guitarist ever.
You’re right. He’s great as musician and individual too.

Great selection with one glaring omission- the ending solo to Pigs- Three Different Ones- a blistering scorcher.
Time and Mother are 2 of the greatest solos ever. Never get tired of them
I really love how melodic this solos are.. that’s what make them memorable
I personally don’t think David has even a single bad guitar solo, his chops are pretty amazing.
