- I've had the @Valeton GP200 Amp Modeller and Effects Processor for 6 months now.
Have I gone back to my Kemper, Continued with The Valeton, or got something else?
Listen to my thoughts of this Digital Amp.
You can buy one at Amazon here: amzn.to/3rVJV4X
I have just ordered the GP 200 LT version of this. This evening, I have been trawling RUclips trying to prepare myself for it's arrival tomorrow. I am so glad I found your channel. Your enthusiasm and positivity is very refreshing. Just about to check out your other videos. Thanks for sharing your time and experience.
Thank you.
Was about to say the same about the enthusiasm so i‘m just leaving this. Thanks for the video, made my decision.
My GP200LT arrives here tomorrow, also!! I'm sold on it, there needs to be more emphasis on how it works for interface/direct recording. It has a new firmware update out now, also!!
Thanks Paul for the follow up, your review and insights are super appreciated. Keep up the good work.
Thanks I really do appreciate your comment. It spurs me on...
I used to drag my Triple X and pedal board to practice. When I showed up to practice a little early with the power amp, hooked everything to the 4x12 I leave there and spent a few minutes fine tuning the prest I made at home. My drummer was like "bro, that sounds great". When the rest of the guys came walking in they thought I had been replaced by a doppelganger. But when we fit that first lick everyone had smiles on their faces.
I love the options that we have these days... we're SO lucky!
I also use a triple x. Does this have a similar sound setting? What power amp do you use?
@@mysupersuperglide An old Randall RRM 2-120.
It's a pleasure to listen to you, Paul! Now I'm going to pick up my valetom gp-200, after your review! Thanks!
Great stuff - regardless if you got it or not, I hope you're making some great music. 😎
Hi Paul and thanks for your two videos on the GP 200, just great informative stuff!
Thank you so much I just bought this and subbed to you because of your Valeton GP 200 contents, hope to see more so I will improve learning this unit
Love it!! Thanks again for your genuine comments, tips and insights. Got mine (the red version) a week ago and I'm loving it!
Enjoy!… remember to tweak the sounds for your guitar and taste 😎
So great to hear your thoughts on the Valeton after 6 months. I've recently got the GP 200 and its got some amazing sounds in it. I'm still dialing things in but it blows previous multi pedals I've tried right out the water. Love the channel and looking forward to more reviews.
I totally agree... thanks for your kind words.
how is its pitch shifting quality? As a Virtual Capo?
I have the GP-200LT, and I love it. It can do almost everything that I need. Thanks for the video.
You are more than welcome.
Hey Paul!! Thanks so much for both reviews. You really helped me make the move to the unit and I love it!! Please go into settings!! I look forward to it!! And again, thank you!!
Thank you for your positive feedback!
I can confidently say: You WON'T be disappointed !
All the best
Thanks for the 6mo out review. This is really great because you use in both the studio and live settings and you are selling the sound of a small number of amps that you use heavily and evaluated just as an amp model. Just perfect review information. Now I'm getting mine.
Thanks for the compliment. I hope you are enjoying yours if you got it.
I purchased my GP200 just 2 weeks ago bcoz of your honest review.
I came all the way from old school analog, then went to digital & I absolutely loved it.
Ahh that's great to hear. I can confidently say: You won't be disappointed.
How's it hold up to Helix rack or Hx stomp? I've tried headrush, it didn't compare to the Rack for midi control and most importantly the sound I was used to, I tradi my stomp for a Reverend guitar so I'm in the market for a compact amp modeler thought about the headrush core but at $800 USD and the axe fx stuff is just as expensive Hx stomp xl is about $750 I'm looking at the core for $50 more and I can clone my amps with it, QC is $1600 I could buy 3 of those off brand boards just don't wanna get stuck with it if I don't like it or it don't stand up to the Hx algorithms that I am so used to.
I was already dead set on a Valeton but your review and professional experience validated what I could only conclude based from other online video sources and what I heard in them. I've listened to all the most popular units around ATM and was set on Valeton which sounds superior, but I was only going to get the GP-100 and will get the 200 instead.
I barely use any modeler's pedals, amps, cabs and mics and even less of the time and depth based effects, but this has so damn many that I shouldn't go on the thin side. Technology is rocketing along and an entry level model won't keep me up to speed.
Thanks Jon - we are SO lucky these days with the choices that we have for such amazing technology. I still firmly believe that nothing comes close to the GP200 in this price bracket... OR in higher price brackets come to that.
Hi Paul, after watching this and the original review i’ve ordered the GP200, you had me fully convinced when you said it replaced the Kemper and when you said you would use it for a War of the Worlds show. I enjoyed the video too, very well presented and kept me interested all the way through. Happy to subscribe!
Thanks Alex - I do appreciate your comments.
Just bought one after watching yours and Anderson’s videos and as you say, once you start tinkering with the patches it sounds incredible! Thanks! 😊
Nice one John... I hope you are making great music with it.
Thanks for the review! I just ordered one of these and can't wait to get it!
I hope you're getting on well with it.
Awesome review, convinced me to get my first multi effects unit, and its amazing! Thank you.
Hope you still like it... I still use mine on pro sessions.
Love it but I’m no pro lolz just appreciating this device
Hey I’ve just been thinking to buy it! Glad to find your video. Very nice content. Subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
Your voice sounds wonderful. Total ASMR. Your audio expertise really shows. Tips and tricks would be a great shout for newbies. How to connect, types of DAW, are they all created equal etc etc. Subscribed.
Thanks so much - I've been told I should do ASMR before ... I should start a channel!
Yes, the connection thing comes up a lot. I should do that.
Thanks for this follow-up video. I just purchased a GP-200 as an upgrade to my good ole Zoom G1Xfour mutli-FX pedal. Can't wait to see what this thing can do !!!
Thanks paul. Helped in making an important decision. Will be buying this over the weekend
Did you get it in the end?
@@PaulBondMusic yup man got it... Download your presets. Created some of my own. This Unit is fun. But when I'm using the looper over drums then it's lagging. Not sure if it's my unit or a valeton thing
Awesome video I just bought this foot pedal today GP200 and have the GP100 also really enjoyed your videos! Thank you 👍😎🔥🎸🤘
Hey Paul, thanks for the follow up, I am so glad to hear you love it. I bought a GP200 about a year ago to replace an old Helix one and I'm extremely pleased with the purchase. It is a peace of mind to hear someone like you with so much knowledge and experience loves it and even consider it good enough to replace your own Kemper. All the best.
We are lucky in this day and age to have SO much choice. Technology today is amazing... All the best to you too. 😎
Same here. Amazing little pedal for not so much money. I use this pedal in Stereo - sounds so good. Esxpecially when using some stereo effects. Im impressed. Play since 35 years. I only could dream of such a tool back in the day. I wish I had such a qualily sound when starting out at 16. my guitars / amps sounded horrible compared to what I got now....
This was really useful, thank you :D Ordered mine yesterday!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for this video, I went and bought one based on this, really enjoying it! Especially the soldano model!
I'm still loving mine! Hope you are too.
Thank you for this great video, I own the GP200 for one year now, is very easy to use and tweak.
Great to hear!
Hi! I got the GP200 last summer, great (I got v-amp pro's with FCB1010, Digitech RP500, Zoom G5, Zoom G3xn, etc). Really great. Played lots of Line6's of friends, never liked any of them. I am so glad I chose JC120 for cleans and Soldano for higain and recently saw your video, saying the same thing, confirming my choice! Thanks for the great video and spot on tips and advice! You are so accurate, down-to-earth and road-proven!
I’ve been curious about this one. Good overview; thx!
Thank you
Great honest review.. with your approach and experience, companies should be sending you their gear. Well done mate.
I have a slew of high end tube amps and most of my analog pedals on my board cost more than the gp200. I picked one up as a practice tool for headphones and opened it last night. I spent about 5 hours straight playing and smiling. It's good, really good. I agree, strip it down to the amp and build from there. I certainly found sounds I didn't like at all, but so many I did. I'm really enjoying this and plan to use it for recording soon. Great value for dollar that's for sure.
I still use mine to this day on pro sessions. Still very happy with it.
Great vid Paul!
Cheers Dave
Fully agree! Such a great pedal for so little money. I play since 35 years and am still amazed by the quality of the sounds - especially the amps are state of the art. the Pedals could be better but over they are absoluetly usable. I use the GP-200 with 2 DV Mark Power Cabs. The Speaker Simulation off of course when using it that way. The stereo effects are amazing trough that setup. Realy gigable. Love it. Share the same feelings as you when talking about that medal. The Soldano. the Mesa Boogies, so many good amps in one box. I will be getting the new Fractal FM3 Turbo and already look forward the 2. There for sure will be some quality differences but I wonder how big they are...(sorry, english is my 3rd language).
Thanks George, I'd be really interested to get your thoughts about the Valeton vs the Fractal. Do let me know!
@@PaulBondMusic I will. Will be a interesting comparison. The Tonex Pedal (!) must also be a very good unit for little money. So many options nowadays. 👍
Bro said cradle down and trivium earned my trust immediately
Saw your video today while I was trying to decide between the Line 6 POD Go or something else (I was looking at the Sonicake Matribox ii) - you made me buy the Valeton. Now the wait for shipment begins.
I feel the same, it just goes into the effects loop of my 5150 now, not touched anything else since i bought the GP200 last year. nice review 😎
Yes - I used it for one gig in an FX loop and it was great!
Hey Paul, pleased to report I still have mine and am still gigging it (ok it’s in a church but I still call them gigs!!). I was happy with the 1.2.1 firmware update and the new delays and reverbs, I’d still like the opportunity to stack 2 OD pedals into my favoured amp (the DC-30 clean) but have got by using an OD and a boost or occasionally a compressor, OD and then used the EQ block as the boost. I’ve just seen there is a v1.3.1 firmware but by the looks there is only 1 more drive pedal so I’m not going through the ball ache of updating it just yet!
Glad your still happy with yours!
Glad to hear you’re still using it… I’ve not updated mine yet either!
Thanks, mate. Your review pushed me off the fence and I ordered one (but did it halfway through the video and didn't realize you had an affiliate link - sorry!). Cheers!
Hope you enjoy it!
Using a couple of amps and 3-4 IRs....great advice!! Too much selection can be confusing. Find YOUR sound and go from there!! Great unit
100% People can get overwhelmed by too many choices.
Great to hear the opinion of an experienced producer. I'm pretty sure you would only give credit where it's due!
I sure would. I don't get anything from Valeton... not even a thank you email ha ha. I just think that it sounds great and is brilliant value for money.

Great review! Your experience of gear and recording realy helped me for a secondary solo show and not taking biger and heaver gear. The only thing I'm worried is with an acoustic guitar if i can get that "Feel" and string ambiance sound.. Guess I'll find out. thanks for your imput.
Thanks Brian... Did you get one in the end?
I can't believe you're on the WOTW tour! I met Chris Spedding years ago when he did a seminar at my college. Absolutely adore that album and I've seen the arena tour before
Chris is a complete Ledge!
It's such an honour to play on that incredible tour... see you in 2025?
Playing guitar for 32 years. I bought one simply because I was curious about all the positiive reviews. I figured something must be really cooking in the kitchen to get so many thumbs up. And at it's price point, wasn't concerned about trying it out. In summary, yes I agree, it totally pisses all over all other competing floorboard FX modellers. Even eats my Line 6 Helix and spits it out. I no longer use anything else. They are all redundant now. It is crystal clear, grunty and incredibly realistic with very low latency (unnoticeable), perfect also for live situations direct into PA using IEM's. Sounds absolutely amazing!! 10 out of 10
Thanks for that great feedback. I know that I must sound like I'm paid by Valeton, but I'm not. I'm just amazed that we can get these tones - SO CHEAPLY! We live in great times!
Thanks for this video man , 🙏🙏🙏
Looking at getting one of these because I'm tired of using luck of the draw Kemper/Helix in a big worship gig. And I'm probably going to get one. BUT, you played in Wayne's War of the Worlds tours !!! Gotta be one of my favorite albums. Thanks for that, too !!
I agree the Soldano sim is awesome.
100%
I run mine in stereo through a Harley Benton Thunder 99 pedal amp, into two single 12" speaker cabs with celestions. No cab sim, and it sounds glorious. Haven't fired up the JCM900 for six months. It's a real blessing not having to lug 20+kg valve amps around.
It's a game-changer isn't it!
I was already leaning towards getting the gp 200 but i think you’ve just sold me.
Did you get one in the end?
Dave Schools...Alembic bass. The bass patches on the Valeton GP200 are awesome. For the price, what’s to lose? I love mine. The monitors are something I’m looking into. I’ve been using it through my MacBook M1, Rodecaster Pro, and then my studio speakers or one of my amps. I don’t believe I have come close to exhausting the possibilities. You’ve got the built in tuner, I can mic an acoustic and run it through the valeton. The drums are not over the top, but they’re cool. You also have the looper and the pedal...it’s an amazing tool and the price is so low for what you get. You’re 100% correct in saying buy this thing! It’s been a game changer for me.
Good to hear your thoughts… it seems we are in complete agreement.
I have the red colored model. I love it. I plug straight into my marshall dsl 40 effects loop and it has everything i would ever need.
Great value for money isn't it!
I liked the GP 200 so much, I bought two of them for my band TimeWhys.
I still love mine - studio and live. It's never skipped a beat.
i was about forget this brand since seeing much youtuber review said it garbage
but your 6 months experience made me think twice to consider especially seeing market place for this one!!
I'm 14 months in... and I STILL use this unit on professional recordings. It's amazing 😎
thanks for follow up
i would consider much about this product!@@PaulBondMusic
I have a Peavey Triple X running into a V30 loaded Mesa over sized 2x12 cab and a Randall 1503 212 combo in my music room. I run a pedal board with a tuner, noise gate, ABY splitter in front and a 10 band in the loop of each amp. That is my preferred live rig. But I use the Valeton for all my recording and band practice. I have a stereo 50 watt power amp, BBE 382i and a Marshall 1960 with V30's and Greenbacks in an X pattern at my drummer's house. It sounds great. Definitely one of the best pieces of gear I have ever owned. I have presets I use for recording and other for practice. Yes my dual amp settup is my preferred live rig but I wouldn't hesitate to rock the Valeton on stage with my 2x12 in place of the 4x12.
I couldn't agree more!
I love this little GP 200 sounds amazing for the price. I own alot of gears cheap and expensive and this little monster can do a good job for mw when I use for a little gig anywhere, I go. good video bro.
Thanks mate - I still think that nothing comes close to the GP200 for the money.
I just got the Valeton go 200. My guitar playing used to suck but with the valeton, I sound immaculate
Ha ha - it's magic!
If you could be bothered to do a third video on the unit:
I'd like to use it in the 4 cable method with a tube amp that has an effects loop. I'm asking myself if the boost pedals in the unit would "push" the front end of a tube amp properly. Also, the GP 200 has a global eq with a high cut option that could help in cutting out the high end hiss of a bad speaker. But would that work in the intended way in the 4 cable method? The GP 200 really is a special unit because it has warm sounds although it's digital, and to my ears it sounds as good as the AXE Effects FM9. But that's 4 times the price. Cheers!
Made my patches (4x for bass) I want to know how to assign them to a the Footswitch, A to D? Can you explain?
I have the Helix floor the tonex the fractal, boss and digitech 2101. All collecting dust after I bought the Valeton.
Paul.. You may remember me. George.
I had trouble with my right hand finger tip which caused trouble holding a pick. Now sorted thank goodness. I've been playing bluegrass acoustic guitar which I love..
I've not yet got the valeton gp200 but think I will based upon you're 2nd review. I like the connectivity it has..
Anything you review I'd be interested in.
I've taught myself home recording but anything you can do about recording I'd watch for sure.. I've got a 4 channel audient interface with 2 JFET inputs on the front.. Rocket 5 monitors and beyherdynamic headphones open and closed back.. I use Mixcraft. Pro studio 9..
Always good to see you...
Best wishes
George..
Forgot to say I also play alot of electric guitar.. I just bought a telecaster... I've got the NU-X Amp Academy which is OK as its got 12 amp and choptone matching IR.. Enough overdrive EQ and Reverb but no modulation or delay and you use your own delay chorus pedals in an effects loop.. Kinda best of both.. Can also record via usb at 48.00 32 bit.. Or into interface.
Hi George - yes I remember... Glad to hear that your finger is better!
It looks good... I've never tried one... make some great music with it George 😎
@@PaulBondMusic paul
Thanks for the reply. I run the amp academy into my in face via usb with IR switched on. Also I run it into 100 WATT power amp and marshal 2x12 celestion speaker cab.. With IR switched OFF. so can record (with IR on) and play with room speaker vibes (IR off) simultaneously.... The clean amp sim I use mostly is fender 65 reverb and the dirty amp sim is would you believe a Soldano.!! Love it.... The IR associated IR are choptones and are great.. Sometimes I switch the Soldano to a 4x12 celestion greenback IR.. Both are great. As you rightly say a small number of amp sims and IR are enough. No need to have 100's of speaker IR.. You just don't need it..
Good luck to you too....
Picked one up last week, second hand for £240. Really impressed using it at home in my little studio. Need to see how it sounds in the loud practice room and live.
I hope it's panning out for you.
Hi Paul, great to hear the GP 200 is still up there. It would be great to try your presets ! Are you able to give any advice on getting the best tones straight in to mixer and powered speakers ?! Specifically, should we not use built in cabs (IR's) and what are best EQ settings ? Subscribed - great videos :)
Thanks for you comment and compliment… much appreciated!
I ALWAYS use the built in IR’s… don’t tend to touch global eq… And very rarely patch eq either! I just use it like an amp and cab!
I intend my next video to be about dialling in sounds that I like and letting you download them. That’d be fun. 😎
This is a great to hear - an honest review and someone who has used it as part of gigs all over the place. Practical use and real proper use I think is often missed. Def considering one!
How reliant is it on updates? I don’t have a mac or big Pc
Love your videos. I see you have an Acoustasonic. Any suggestions running in into a Valeton? What patches do you use for the acoustic sounds and the electric tele sounds? I love my acoustasonic but I can't figure out a way to get both sounds live.
Thanks,
Jim
The valeton gp200 and the boss me90. Both have lots of hands on controls, which is exactly what I like. Both sound amazingly good. The boss is more like a pedal board; 2 or 3 or 4 parameters for each effect, nice and simple and incredibly effective. The valeton has more options, but still way fewer than a line6 or Kemper. I can fit both units in a backpack, and I've pretty much got any possible thing I'll ever need without deep dive menus.
Great video thank you! Knowing that you've used this regularly in a professional context is really helpful! Do you know if it does signal splitting at all? I'm trying to work out if it can split a bass signal in two to do the classic dirty highs/clean low.
Sorry for the late reply... It doesn't do that out of the box, but there is no reason why you couldn't put a graphic eq pedal on each output and do it that way.
I bought mine after witching your review/demo. I love it. I'm thinking about getting a second so I can run dual rigs and link them via midi. But then I would have to learn midi 😆 🤣 😂
So for signal chain out of the Valeton goes to what through what are you after that using a DAW OR DOES THIS GO STRAIT INTO YOUR STUDIO SPEAKERS. I use the Soldano SLO Neural DSP 99$ it’s awesome
So - you hear me recording through my Audio Interface and into my Digital Audio Workstation.
Great follow-up review video mate! Your speaking voice is excellent as it reminds me of Neil Gaiman, one of my favorite authors and narrators. I think I am going to pickup a GP 200 for myself now. Really enjoyed the video.
Thanks for your compliments Yogi - I shall check out Neil Gaiman.
I believe you’ll love the Soldano SLO 100 Stand alone version by Neural DSP 99$ US once you discover the drop down menus of Artist sounds are amazing even the clean is off the hook
Hi mate - I'm sure that I'd be happy with the sounds, but I just can't cope with plugin/software amps... The slightest latency and it's over for me.
That's not to take anything away from them... I know people love them. We use what works for us.
Can you use the GP200 as a standalone audio interface for a laptop recording?
I use thGP200 with the TC Electronics Plethoraxc 3 and an extra distortion/fuzz/drive pedal. I sometimes like to have two reverbs, delays etc. and the Plethoax is amazing. I also like to stack my distortion/drive/fuzz and the GP200 is limited to only one. The simplicity of the GP200 is amazing and takes very little time to feel comfortable with. I'm actually thinking about getting rid of most of my pedals, they are just dust collectors now. If my GP200 ever failed I'd buy another the same day.
Using one on tour right now... solid as a rock!
loved your reviews for Valeton GP 200, just wondering, if there is a bass IR, can I use my regular guitar to get the bass sound? I was thinking to put bass and riffs in the looper while I play lead
You COULD use your guitar with an octave pedal on in order to emulate a bass. Not perfect, but it would work.
Would you still recommend this pedal in comparison to some of the others on the market? Cheers Jacob
Hello
Thanks for nice review, you're the one that decide me to buy it...
You say that you plug it into your Apollo, do you put a preamp or a strip channel on the Unison port ? And any advice for an insert chain on the Apollo? In the meantime, I just put a Neve 1084, and it adds some punch, but will be very happy to hear your advices. Cordially
That is a GREAT question!
I don't put ANYTHING on in the unison port and the reason for that is, that I like to make my final decision when mixing. I can always put some sexy Neve stuff on there if needed afterwards.
I currently mix extensively with my SSL UC1, so put an SSL channel strip on everyting that I'm mixing. It works great!
Hi Paul nice review. You really should do a review of the tonex pedal. RUclips is crying out for an honest independent review of that unit. Cheers mate
Thanks Joe... I was very VERY disappointed when I tried the software because the reviews of the pedal have been astonishingly good. As I understand it, the sounds should be identical, but I just can't see how they can be. Not in the same leauge as the Valeton, so there must be extra trickery going on in the pedal version...
I WILL get one eventually and do a review.
Got it last week and played through it on the same evening, just using the 1st stock 4 presets at a bar and was impressed with how it sounded.
Still got the Vox tonelabs & nux mg 30 and they're useful for recording. But for the variety of tones and ease of programming the presets the Valeton is incredible. Still gotta figure out the looper though.
I'm having such a hard time making a good metal tone with the Valeton. Can you please do a tutorial for some moder metal sounds?
I have initially purchased UA Volt interface with intention of using Neural DSP plugin as my amp as I’m unable to practice without the headphones; however, I wasn’t so keen on using DAWs and plugins for various effects, so I have ordered a GP 200. If I don’t record music, is there any point in hooking it up via XLR to my UA interface or should I just sell it and use Valeton as my interface in rare occasions when I would want to plug in guitar into my computer?
I MUCH prefer using a unit such as this GP200 compared to amp sims in DAW's. The latency can be a nightmare (and they never sound amazing IMHO). I use mine into a UA apollo via XLR, but you could just as easily go via the USB in the Valteon.
Thanks for a nice review Paul. I've had mine for 6 months now aswell. Its served me well, but I have a couple of niggles with it. Mainly the chorus effects aren't doing it for me.. They work, but I cant get that lush Boss pedal tone. My biggest gripe is the volume pedal.. I don't know if its down to the noise gate, but it's either on " or" off ".. There seems to be no gradient to it. I was going to switch over to a boss me 90 when they release, but given your glowing review and the fact you are clearly a very experienced musician I will persevere with mine and certainly look more at the Soldano amp... Thanks
Thanks for the comment 😎
It sounds like the volume pedal has not been setup right in the settings section, because it should work perfectly.
I’ve been thinking about doing some bite-sized vid’s about this kind of thing.
Interesting to hear your thoughts on the chorus.
It’s not an effect that I tend to use, so good to read your comment.
I’ll check this out and get back…!
@@PaulBondMusic thanks Paul. You are right about the Soldano amp.. Its brilliant. I will have a look at the volume settings
I'm active on the Valeton GP200/100 page and have posted a chorus patch in the files section called 57-C GP200PretVoxyCH which you might like :)
Is it feasible to use the Valeton as a stand alone audio interface into Pro Tools on a Windows PC? Or, should I also invest in an interface like the Scarlett Focusrite for a "beginner's" home studio?
You can get your guitar sounds straight in via USB on the Valeton, but you'd always be better off getting an interface such as the Focusrite if you can afford it.
I love mine got it about 1 year ago used it live for bass along with a powered monitor for stage monitor out of left side sent right to front of house but as you say it can be used the same way for a guitar rig as well
Absolutely... mine has proved to be COMPLETELY road-worthy.
@@PaulBondMusic and the biggest thing is the cost compared to the other high end brands is if something happens to it you can buy a replacement for a fraction of the cost and the sound is great
Aweaome review Mr Bond! I have to admit that even with the few little missing features in it, it does have pretty much evetything that anyone could need. I find the new stereo delats and specifically Studio Reveb that we got in last years update put it ahead a notch from initial laumch. Now lets hope they improve it a little more. What are your thoughts on the delays and reverbs in the unit?
Thank you for the compliment!
I’m generally happy with the rev’s and delays. When I record, I very rarely use ambient FX unless it’s integral for the particular sound that I’m after. What I HAVE found is that they FX are very wet and I have to turn the mix setting down… a lot!
Hi Paul
Will the gp200 sound good direct to fender amp (twin reverb) what cable connection would sound best .
Thanks. Michael
You probably wouldn't want to use the amp emulation bit of the unit, although you could, if you then tapped into the power amp section of your amp.
Hey Paul, thanks for the videos that you do. Really informative and your experience is so helpful in explaining the tech etc. I have a quick question.... My guitar amp is a Boss Nexttone Artist, so if I got this unit how should I connect it to my amp? Via the Return socket (I assume I use a normal guitar lead) or do I connect straight to the speaker (then do I need to get a speaker cable?). Whats the best thing to do? Thanks John
Hi John ... I know that I just responded to you on another video... did you figure this all out yet?
@@PaulBondMusic Hi Paul, I did! Actually I just use the effects without the amp or can SIM straight to the input. The reality is , I love the sound of my amp so it seems a shame to not use the amp itself. I have gigged it twice and I absolutely love the sounds I am getting. Thanks for responding! I appreciate it!
What's it like using headphones directly from the GP200 and from an amp for quite practicing at home, is it good with headphones and is it even worth putting it through an amp as it can model amps? Thanks.
I have to admit to not trying it with headphones yet. I will when I’m back in the studio… there is little need to put it through an amp because, as you say, it has all the amps built in. You COULD use it as an FX unit to integrate with an amp you have and love, but for home use… just whack those cans on your head and enjoy!
Good day! I am thinking between Valeton GP-200 and Mooer Ge-300 Lite. I think Mooer has more functions but it's older so I'm wondering if it will perform well now. Which of these processors is better in terms of sound, in your opinion? Thank you!
Hiya… I have never used the Mooer so it is not possible for me to comment on that. All I can say is that the Valeton sounds AMAZING!
I’m not sure what features the Mooer has that the GP200 doesn’t, but the GP has everything that *I* need!
Good luck with which ever way you go.
Thank you Paul for your videos. Question: are you using custom IR's with the Valeton? Can you recommend some good IR's? I'm playing (hard)rock
I have recently got some custom IR's.
I don't get too crazily into worrying about it, but if you want to get some, I would recommend OwnHammer.
Can you explain using the 4 cable method with the GP-200? I am trying to run my GP200 through a Mesa boogie with a serial loop and I lose the use of my master volume on the amp when I do. I think I may have the loop setting on the GP200 in the wrong place. Thanks
I personally never have the need for the 'four cable method', so I'm no expert on it.
Did you ever figure your problem out?
Do you use a Dual/Triple Rectifier? ... I know that there are many settings on the amp which can affect how the send/return system works.
I did figure out what was happening. The gp200 loop was set to parallel, so the overall volume is controlled by the gp200, but the master on my amp was working, just not much change because i had the gp200 down too low. I’m using an express 5:50.
It also has to do with the send/return volume on the 200. They come default at zero, so it needs to be adjusted accordingly.
Now i've got used to it, (instructions are vague at best), I use the valeton more than my boss slab. I had to do a reset cos for some reason the stomp wasn't working. Now though it's so easy to change patches and customise all the sounds. Recording in stereo is great with it too. Its got a lot of sounds, I can spend hours messing about with the settings. Glad I bought it. Good price too.
Thanks for the comment…Make GREAT music with it!
Hello,
I bought a GP200 2 weeks ago on Amazon, during Prime week (very cheap).
I have been setting up my own sounds but using my Vox vtx40. The overdrive sounds break up at the lower volumes and it's obviously not the answer. I have another VT 40 back in Spain, where we have residency but also a Bose S1 Pro which I run on gigs as a monitor. I think the Valeton will sound better through my Sound craft mixer into a Yamaha 1000w column pa and monitor everything through Bose.(I have three Mics up and like to get people up to sing along). If you have time please comment.
Is it the Yamaha Stagepass 1k? ... If so, I have one of these myself and the GP200 sounds GREAT through it!... I don't use a mixer, I go straight in, but I suppose it depends how many channels you're needing to keep free.
@PaulBondMusic Many thanks for your prompt reply.
The only downside for me is the lack of a configuration to make presets change on press instead of press/release. I hope valeton updates to add this function!
Others have commented that using a separate midi controller does this, but it rather defeats the object of having such a compact, all in one unit.
Dumb question from @2:46 in your video; Can you explain how kemper amp profiling differs from importing an IR file to the Valeton. I (wrongly) assumed the 2 things were pretty similar. Many thanks.
So - a profing system like the Kemper 'samples' an amp sound. So you can download the HiWatt that David Gilmour used on Dark Side of The Moon for example. It is a 'sample' of that actual amp.
A modelling amp or amp sim, uses algorithms to make a sound-alike of a particular amp. Sometimes a profiler is better ... sometimes not.
We have a lot of choices these days.
I like the Soldano on GP200 too, Id like to ask you some tips to how to dial up the 5150, for me it doesnt sound as good as the SLO, Id like some help to dial a Dumble tone too
The Soldano absolutely rocks!
To be honest, For me, I've never liked the real 5150 amps!!! (I know - it's sacrilidge!). I was never able to get a pleasing sound out of them, but then again the amp is not aimed at someone like me. I'll have a little look into it... Meanwhile, try the amp called Flagman +2 as an alternative... it''s REALLY good for metal tones.
I intend to do more video's dialing in different amp sounds for you to download.
Hi Paul. So I got the GP-200 today and so far so good. How do I create an FX loop as I can’t see how to put delays etc in the loop. Can this be done on the device or do I need to download the software to do this?.Thanks
Just so that I can guide you... are you wanting to use your own existing delay pedal in conjunction with the Valeton?
@@PaulBondMusic I’m using it all on the Valeton and I won’t be using any of my own pedals. Thanks
It will be cool if you make a Video where you make some tones on the valeton. Thx
Hope fully you've checked out some of my other video's where I do just that.
I am loving all I havee seen and heard about the Valeton, I am in the verge of getting it vs a fine but old-school Boss ME-90.
The thing that I don't know is ruggedness, how does the Valeton hold to gigging and daily use? I know the Boss unit will last forever,
does anyone k how sturdy is the construction of the Valeton?
Solid as a rock…
I’ve just been on a European run for a few weeks and it’s never blinked.
Thanks for the quick response man!
Great input video.
Love your character and being. Looks like honest and straight forward 😊
Patches /presets you talked about sharing? Just picked up my unit today
Thanks for the lovely feedback.
When I get a chance, I’ll figure out if I can share some sounds
@@PaulBondMusic great. I think it's as easy as using the pc/mac editor and export file and share it. Then we can "reverse he process" 👍
@@islandfield … nice one… I’ll do it in the next couple of weeks 👍🏻
@@PaulBondMusic cool 😎👍
Have you found out if balanced and unbalanced outputs are linked? And if menu chooses mono (left+right summed) and stereo. Or intelligently output mono (summed signal) if left out only connected and stereo of left/right connected. If intelligently and unbalanced and balanced outputs not identical output ;there should be possible to run stereo to mixer on xlr /balanced and mono (summed) to amp /guitar monitor onstage. But doubt it.. 😉
hi paul. have you tried the headrush mx5 or the hotone ampero 2 compared to this? im on the market looking for the gp200 and i also consider those two. thanks
Yes - experience counts for a lot.
Based on your vids and the price on a used one, I just ordered my Valeton over the HX and Headrush!
Ok that’s it. I’m gonna get one!
I can confidently say that you won't be disappointed!
@PaulBondMusic if I will be, I'm gonna hunt you down! 🤪
