I am returning to badminton after a long period, and my two rackets grips have had a lot of wear and tear, so thank you ... I have now managed to replace the grip.
Wow!! You make it so easy. I bought 4 grips a week ago and kept wondering where to start, should I take the old grip off or not, but I'm glad I saw your video and clear instructions about the procedure. So, I'll attempt doing my rackets without removing the old grip. Thanks you once again.
Very nicely done.. I am one of those who starts off with the square end and finishes with sticky end.. It avoids the sticking yonex piece again and cutting the grip at the end..
I usually use two different thickness grip (kinda like how Lin Dan uses towel in the middle and bare wood for the top for better touch and control). I use thicker grip in the palm section, either towel or PU grip is fine. I use thinner super grap in the top for the thumb and pointer finger to rest on. For me this gives you the best of thick vs thin grips. Thick enough to not strain your hand on clears and smashes but thin enough for control when at the net and for easier switching of hand grips for different shots. You can do this with either two layers of yonex super grap for a minimal difference in thickness or use supergrap and thick grip for a more pronounced effect. You can use cushion wrap to increase the overall thickness and cushioning if needed on the handle.
Greetings from Europe, appreciated even in 2023! Now I can dust off my speedminton rackets after 3-4 years as I found recently the grip falling apart.. Thank you!
Hello! Great video,my mom played badminton when she were a Child and they had really good raquets then. Everthing without the grip is good så im using this very much
normally i remove the plastic cover and the original factory grip leaving the wood exposed before applying a thin overgrip or towel grip. This decrease the thickness dramatically, improves control. Once I tried this, i never look back and removed all of the original factory grip from my racket collection
Awesome! I bought a big roll of grip tape though and I probably don't want to peel them all. How long of a grip tape should I peel out before cutting it?
If you purchased a big roll of badminton grip tape, they should be sectioned off by strands as you pull. If not, I would recommend measuring out yourself how much grip tape you typically use on your racket as some people prefer more thick (more overlap) or more thin (less overlap) for their handles!
If the old grip is completely worn and black dye keeps coming off onto your hand, can you use these grips to re tape it? Maybe just double wrap as you're going up?
Best way is to take off the original grip, put electrical tape or some sort of tape to protect the wood handle. Adds about 1.5g to 4g depending overlap etc. Then put on your favorite grip whether it be a replacement or overgrip or two overgrips etc.
I used some 25mm wide physiotherapists strapping tape around a strip of old bicycle inner tube cut to 20mm wide as I have big hands and they didn't have a large-grip racquet in stock (and I'm a tight-arse.).
Hello! The thickness the overgrip adds is quite minimal. Depending on the overlapping, you can somewhat adjust the thickness as well. For those who want their handle thinner, then removing the base grip before any other applications would work!
Sorry ser , my english not good I have a question using Indonesian Saya pengguna satu lapis grip karet , saat bermain badminton saya mengeluarkan keringat yang banyak dan grip tidak dapat menyerap keringat yang terlalu banyak itu dan pertanyaan nya , apa grip karet yang cocok untuk dapat menyerap keringat saya yg terlalu banyak ? G5 is my best size
please also keep in mind that every overgrip (approx. 6-10g) will change the balance point of the racket and also add weight to it !!! A head heavy racket can easily turn into a even balanced or head light racket or vise versa if you take the original grip off !!! ;-)
I've only watching this because i accidentally sliced the grip of my selfie stick upon opening the package. 😂 😅 Was looking for something similar to these grip tapes
If I use the second method and I didn't notice the sticky end of the grip is not at the right position until I reach the upper handle that would be awkward.
Yonex grips used to last longer... they worsened the quality a few years ago, so now we need to buy more for the same result. That's really a bad move from Yonex, they seriously thought no one would realize?
Im still use the sticker for the top coz make looks good and make not easyly to open the grip when i swing the racket. Have you get astro77 or arc11 new colour? Did you already review that? Sorry if my english is bad.

I think that is how it's supposed to be done else why would the glue part would he on the narrow end rather than broad end
@@krishna_o15 but then why they give the yonex black tape?
@@naman1312 branding on every part also broad part is always used at bottom

for long term use, sticky end just helps in placing the black tape better@@naman1312

it's all preference :3
Thankyou bro I was new to change my grip
Without cutting the leftover grip i just wrap it all the way down. Leaving gaps between. It gives me good feel while holding my racquet.
Complete and perfect video, thanks
I always Wrap the grip the other way around. So much better . You don't have to cut it off or used additional adhesive...
puting my grip was hard before i watched this video and after i watched this video its was too easy
Always wrapped mine with the stick end finishing at the top of the racket. No need for Yonex sticker and cutting. Just faster.
Thanks for a great tutorial! I followed it and applied it beautifully!
2nd method is better for me...i don't like to use Yonex adhesive sticker and DON'T like to cut the grip as well
Thanks a lot. Never thought it would be so easy
A very good video. I did my first upper wrap in one go. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing these tips !
I just bought a new racket, should I wrap the grip over or remove the original grip first?
Any advantage in wrapping it tighter? Like stretching it out a bit? Or personal preference?
personally it sounds like stretching the grip would weaken its integrity, so it would be quicker to wear (rip & tear).
I used some 25mm wide physiotherapists strapping tape around a strip of old bicycle inner tube cut to 20mm wide as I have big hands and they didn't have a large-grip racquet in stock (and I'm a tight-arse.).

Which process is better 1 or 2 !
It would be down to your own personal cosmetic preference! Either method works but the 2nd process would allow you to skip on the tape!

Can we remove the original grip and apply electrical tape and then apply the over grip
can we apply it as car steering wrap ?
By putting the small part up will it get lose , is it possible?

Can I put an over grip on top of an anti slip grip??
Technicaly yes but it's your preference.
Thank you so much
Im usually use the second methode. But sometimes i use the first methode. And i dont feel the different. How about you??
There is no difference between the two methods aside from the aesthetics. Method 2 will look cleaner because you won't need the Yonex sticker.
Im still use the sticker for the top coz make looks good and make not easyly to open the grip when i swing the racket.
