Sick list but surprised you picked Nightmares. Definitely a sick album but definitely my least favourite Bloodbath album too. Cannibal Corpse - Tomb Of The Mutilated 7. Morbid Angel - The Covenant 8. Malevolent Creation - Retribution Napalm Death - Suffer The Children
Love the enthusiasm Rob! I love hearing about what albums influenced people. You can’t beat that excitement. You’re right about Flemming… he worked on ride, master and justice! Some absolute classic albums you’ve mentioned. Your work on Undead has had some serious play time, killer album!
Deicide always sounded really powerful like this type of music should, I always thought the Swedish bands and most other death metal bands were lacking in that aspect.
Love that picks, here's mine: 1. Cannibal Corpse: Tomb of the Mutilated 2. Death: Leprosy 3. Obituary: Cause of Death 4. Bolt Thrower: For Victory 5. Obituary: Slowly we Rot
@RobArnoldWorld yes Flemming was with Metallica for Master, Ride and Justice My selection would be (in no particular order) Possessed - Seven Churches Six Feet Under - Haunted Napalm Death - Utopia Banished Carcass - Heartwork Death - The Sound of Perseverance (Voice of The Soul is a MASTERPIECE!!!)
my top 5-Deicide'Legion', Pestilence''Testimony of the Ancients'',Immolation''Unholy Cult'',Vader''Black to the blind"',Death''Individual thought patterns'' \m/
Rob, every single album on your list is identical to mine man. Morbid angel domination is got to be one of my all time favorite albums EVER bro. Number one to be exact. Cannibal corpse the bleeding, deicide once upon a cross, malevolent creation retribution, six feet under haunted, resurrection embalmed existence, atrocity hallucinations, pestilence testimony of the ancients, death human, but i have GOT to put impossibility of reason and the infection on my list bro.. implements of destruction, salvation and the venom inside are hands down some of the best songs ever written imo. Such a cool and fun video man. I love what you do and i will always be a supporter.. keep killin it Rob. 🤘🤘
Interesting list! 90s was the best for all metal i think! Obituary- The end complete Death - Symbolic Entombed - Wolverine blues Bolt thrower - For victory Feared - Svart
Great list! My top 5: 1.Cryptopsy - None So Vile 2. Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding 3. Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness 4. Deicide - Legion 5. Six Feet Under - Undead
Very cool video! Took me back to being a kid hunting for, new to me, music at record stores or just blindly buying records from album artwork in mail order catalogues. It woulda blown my mind to know that one day I could just listen to anything, anywhere, at any time. Also, I was throwing on the tracks as you were mentioning them cause I hadn't heard a bunch of this stuff in years.
Awesome List! Here is mine: Death - Individual Thought Patterns Bolt Thrower - For Victory Edge Of Sanity - Crimson Carcass- Necroticism Grave - Soulless
Six feet under - haunted ❤. Most people would give me shit, but it's been a fav of mine since it came out, I was in 8th grade I think, so it's definitely a nostalgic thing for me.
Love these vids from you. Hearing you nerd out over bands that I grew up with and feel the same way about...our musical taste is virtually identical and I totally geek out like this on our pod. 🤘
Rob, “Undead” is one of my favorite Death Metal albums ever. You outdid yourself with that one. So brutal and tasty! Nile is one of my favorite Death Metal bands. I remember when I first found them, so unique and underrated in my opinion. “Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka” is just sick.
Portal - Outre Spectral Voice - Eroded Corridors of Unbeing Temple Nightside - The Hecatomb Bolt Thrower - IVth Crusade Impetuous Ritual - Relentless Execution ... they are vastly different but gave me the most impressive deliveries of some killer ideas in music.
A friend loaned me Alters of Madness and I listened to it on my walkman walking home by myself on a freezing cold February night. It was terrifying. So, it is definitely my number 1.
Awesome video, Rob! Would love to hear your favorite modern death metal albums. Mine are: Soreption - Monument of the End Cattle Decap - Death Atlas and Anthropocene Extinction Archspire - Bleed The Future Suffocation - Hymns From the Apocrypha Fallujah - Dreamless
Love the context given to this list. Lot of folks review music in a 40 year vacuum. It’s not possible. You have to get the context behind it, how different and influential the music was at the time. Great list, can’t go wrong - my all time #1 is Suffocation - Pierced from Within - when that dropped in ‘95 it was some of the most complex and brutal stuff I’d ever heard.
Hey Rob, great job with the channel. Chimaira fan and a fan of your channel here, also recently turned my teenage son onto you guys. I agree with your assessments of Morbid Angel. Those are killer records. Angel of Disease is Trey doing the vocals. Flemming Rasmussen is also the guy that did Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and ...And Justice For All I would say that some of my top favorite death metal albums would be... 1. Carcass - Heartwork 2. Morbid Angel - Covenant 3. Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse 4. Behemoth - The Satanist 5. Decapitated - Carnival Is Forever 6. Rivers of Nihil - Where Owls Know My Name 7. Allegaeon - Proponent for Sentience 8. Dying Fetus - Stop At Nothing 9. Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance
Nice list man! Demon of the Fall from the My Arms, Your Hearse album, is the song that turned me onto Opeth! And cheers for turning your son onto Chimaira! Tell him I said YO!🤘
@RobArnoldWorld I showed my son your reply, and he tripped out, and said, "Power Trip" is one of the greatest songs of all time, and asked if you guys can ever make it back to Houston, TX. I told him about the first time that I got to see you guys with Machine Head on the Road Rage tour with Trivium opening, back in August of 2004. One of the best shows I have ever seen. My introduction to Opeth was the Blackwater Park and then Deliverance/Damnation albums, which are also some of my all time favorites. I went back and heard My Arms, Your Hearse some time later and a cool little feature of MAYH is in the way the songs segue into one another and the final word of each song is the title of the following song. A simplistic idea, but pretty fucking rad.
Cool! I never noticed that about MAYH. I'll check it out! I'd love to make it back to Houston one day! 🤘 And if so, I'll see you guys there!@@JamesonJunkie
Amazing list! I’ve listened to Once Upon the Cross, The Bleeding and Haunted a thousand times each. All of those are in my top 10 albums ever. Phenomenal video.
Giant Records was a sub label of Warner Brothers records. Covenant and Domination were major label records and the first two death metal albums on a major label. Angel of Disease was sang by Trey and it was the first song morbid Angel ever wrote
Death - Human Carcass - Necroticism Descanting the Insalubrious Entombed - Clandestine Morbid Angel - Covenant Napalm Death - Utopia Banished These are the death metal albums that had the most impact on my life back then. My favorite concert: Napalm Death with Carcass in San Diego. ND had just released Utopia Banished and Carcass Necroticism. Amazing show, the vibe was incredible, people went nuts. I don't know why, but San Diego had concerts landing in Friday or Saturday, which allowed me to go. I'm so glad I lived my teens in that era.
Rob, you are like the old brother I would dream to have. The problem I am older than you! Ha ha . It's incredible to see, despite culturals differences, langages, that we are connected with the same albums, even the same songs. A French Chimaitallica' s fan ') take care and thanks you :)
Good list 🤘 for me 1) Entombed - Clandestine 2) Carcass- Heartwork 3) Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness 4) Cannibal Corpse - Torture 5) Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh
Nice selection...i would choose : Death - Human Entombed - Left Hand Path Morbid Angel - Blessed are the Sick Deicide - Legion Carcass - Heartwork ...Obituary - The End Complete ...and many others !
Great video Professor. Love these kinds of videos. That list is amazing. All pioneers of Death Metal. So much fantastic music came out of Florida in the 90's. I remember buying Cannibal's Eaten Back To Life cassette in 1990. Another fave is Obituary's The End Complete. Thanks for inspiring me to bust out some CDs and go back in time for a bit. Keep up the great work. Heavy Metal Over Everything!
1: Spiritual Healing Clandestine Altars of Madness Deicide 2: Wolverine blues Where No Life Dwells Shadows in the Deep 3: The Bleeding Thresholds Massive Killing Capacity
Rob is so easy to watch and listen to...dude is super chill and always putting out some interesting content (natural stuff...not forced trying to grab attention)
Great picks, it's like you are in my brain for the time period. I'd also throw in Death - Symbolic Carcass - Necroticism Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption Also Undead is probably the only SFU record that I loved front to back and I didn't even know for a long time that you were the songwriter on it. Being a huge Chimaira fan it made sense why I loved it. Your writing kicks ass! PS the world needs Chimaira!
The Bleeding truly is a magnificent death metal record. So catchy yet with pristine production. Everyone praises Tomb of the Mutilated (for good reason) but I agree, The Bleeding really blew me away. Butchered was my first exposure to C Corpse but The Bleeding made me a lifelong fan! Cool idea for a vid, Rob!
I seen Morbid Angel with Pantera back in HS. They were the insane live. Phil came out and did a song with them. Don’t remember what song but it was sick. Amazing band.
Great selections, I'm not sure I could pick my ultimate faves but I'd like to throw Malevolent Creation - Retribution, Pestilence - Consuming Impulse & Cannibal Corpse - Vile in there. The Haunted came out before he left Cannibal btw.
Metal friends, metal maniacs, here's some live wire ****, listen, enjoy, and then go rock these albums and tunes. Then make sure to Like and Subscribe to RA.
My personal top 5: in no order Morbid Angel - Blessed Are The Sick, Death - Scream Bloody Gore (this one got me into DM), Pestilence - Testimony of The ancients, Nile - Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren Ka, Death - Human
Solid list I have to say. Mine, for what it's worth: Deicide - Overtures of Blasphemy (I know it's not a classic era or line-up but that album absolutely destroys) Nile - Black seeds of Vengence Obituary - Dying of Everything (again I know not a classic era album but just so good from start to finish) Entombed - wolverine blues (you can call it death and roll if you like, but whatever it's classified as the riffs are all insane.) Death - Symbolic
We're very close in age. I'm 46 and Deicide, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, and Entombed were my gateway into death metal. At the time, in 94 you had to read about it in mags like RIP and Keerang and Metal Maniacs. Or take a trip to Tower Records. Do you remember when Headbanger's Ball with Rikki Rachtman would come on? They had a segment called the Triple Thrash Threat and if you were just lucky instead of playing thrash it would be Morbid Angel or Unleashed or Entombed. I miss those days a whole lot brother.
Yes man. I always recorded the Triple Thrash Threat on VHS and watched the Videos basically on repeat. Good times!!! I´m 42 and got really early into Metal, because of my big brother. I was the only one in the 4th-grade, only 11 years old, running around with Band-Merch. And I quickly evolved from Metallica over Pantera to Sepultura and Death Metal. I still love alle these albums from the 90's. I had a Cannibal Corpse Tomb of the mutilated longsleeve and my parents said I'm not allowed to wear this. So I had the longsleeve always under a Hoodie when I was leaving for school and then got rid of the Hoodie before arriving at school. The teachers were schocked.
Heres mine: 5. Regin Supreme - Dying fetus 4. Annihilation of the Wicked - Nile 3. Skeletal Domain - Cannibal Corpse 2. Blessed are the Sick - Morbid Angel 1. Symbolic - DEATH
Death Metal is so tricky because so VAST in sub "styles"... but my top 5 would be and because Chuck was too genius to have only one spot so there are 6 : Death - Symbolic Death - Human Carcass - Heartwork Gojira - Terra Incognita Dying Fetus - Reign Supreme Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal EDIT on the day after! Vader - Black to the Blind is actually number 3 ! I forgot one of my very favs!
Nice list! My fav Deicide album is Legion tbh, i like Once Upon the Cross too but i think legion just hits that bit harder I missed the boat on Obituary tbh, i like that album with Dying on it (cant remember the name whoops) and even went to see them last year, the latest albums kicks ass Morbid Angel again, haven't listened to much of their stuff, love the track EYES TO SEE EARS TO HEAR though The Bleeding would probably make my list for sure And man i have never heard much good spoken of Six Feet Under so maybe ill give that album a listen Ones that would make my list are None So Vile by Cryptopsy (saw them a fortnight ago and christ alive was it madness) Nesphite by Demilich is insane Leprosy by Death, definition of a classic, saw Left to Die perform it a year ago and it was amazing, had some OG members. Suffocation's Effigy of the Forgotten would probably make my list too For a newer age band i would definitely say The Nine Choirs by Tribal Gaze, wowwzzza wowzza the inetnsity So yeah theres my list, enjoyed your vid ❤
Badass picks 🤘 My top 5 Spiritual Healing-Death Dominate-Morbid Angel Bloodbath-Resurrection Through Carnage Cannibal Corpse-Vile Dethklok- The Dethalbum and an honorable mention, Undead-Six Feet Under
1. Butchered at Birth -CC 2. Covenant- Morbid Angel 3. Effigy of the Forgotten-Suffo 4. Into the Grave-Grave 5. In Dark Purity-Monstrosity 6. Echoes of Decimation- Origin 7. Infernal Storm-Incantation 8. Stench of the Deceased- Vile 9. Swamped in Gore- Broken Hope 10. Amongst the Catacombs-Nile
Yeah, 1995 was an amazing time to be into death metal. To be there when those records hit the music stores and then listening to them with your buddies for the first time. Those bands really delivered that year. We listened to those albums hundreds of times and studied the CD booklets in-and-out. In fact, that's how we learned of new bands, by who they thanked in the CD booklet.
Cleveland metal fan here. Glad to find your channel. I was on WRUW 91.1 back in the early 90s when all those great death metal albums came out. Caught some great shows too. Cannibal Corpse, Atheist and Gorguts at the Agora Ball room. Sepultura in the Agora theater, also Grave and Acid Bath. What a great era.. I never caught Chimaira as I wasn’t going to many shows going into the 2000s.
It's crazy how much you guys influenced the newer metal wave. I will hear a riff from a new band and instantly know they were influenced by you guys. God, I wish Andols didn't leave early on. Once that train loses momentum, it's hard to get back. Who knows where yall would be. Much love, bro!
Nice video dude! I'm a big death metal fan My top 5 will be : 1- the one and only Death Human 2- Carcass Heartwork 3- Cannibal Corpse Vile 4 - Disincarnate dream of the carrion kind 5 - Decapitated Nihility
Absolutey. All the metal world puts Altars and Covenant on the front but Domination is the one album I really prefer from Morbid. The compositions, the production are perfection.
It is so many good album's to stay in five.death-all albums, morbid angel-all abums, deicide-all albums, obituary -all albums,,cannibal corpse-all albums atheist-first two, pestilence, carcass, malevolent creation, massacre, entombed, grave, dismember, gorefest, disincarnate, cancer, asphyix, benediction, morgoth, suffocation and many more bands wih excellent discography.....
My top 5: 5. Archspire - Relentless Mutation 4. Cephalic Carnage - Lucid Interval 3. Dying Fetus - Destroy the Opposition 2. Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines 1. Kataklysm - Temple of Knowledge
Newer fan to death metal been listening to it for about a year now. 1 - IV crusade - Bolt thrower 2 - Sound of perservance - Death 3 - Symbolic - Death 4 - Mental funeral - autopsy 5 -Like an ever flowing stream - Dismember 6 - Those once loyal - Bolt thrower
When it comes to Death metal I got out of it in 94. Reason why is because every new band that I was hearing all sounded the same as the death metal bands that I was into. But my top 5 death metal albums are. 5 Cancer - Death shall rise 4 Obituary - Cause of death 3 Malevolent creation - The ten commandments 2 Pestilence - consuming impulse 1 Death - Leprosy There are some other death metal albums that I love. Like Massacre - from beyond. Morgoth - The eternal fall. Gorguts - The erosion of sanity.
My top 5 : 1. Wicked Innocence - Omnipotence 2. Immolation - Here in after 3. Suffocation - Effigy of the forgotten 4. Nile - In their darkened shrines 5. Disgorge - Consume the forsaken Stay brutal !
Big agree on the Nile's one. Most always choose Annihilation of the wicked (in which i think the titletrack is the best song of the band ever) but in theri darkned shrines is what represents Nile more.

Love the enthusiasm Rob! I love hearing about what albums influenced people. You can’t beat that excitement. You’re right about Flemming… he worked on ride, master and justice! Some absolute classic albums you’ve mentioned. Your work on Undead has had some serious play time, killer album!
Awesome! 👊
1. Deicide-Deicide.
2. Massacre-From Beyond.
3. Obituary-Slowly We Rot.
4. Death-Scream Bloody Gore.
5. Grave-Into the Grave.
Fuck yeah, Deicide-Deicide is a classic from the start.
Death - Symbolic
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
Death - Leprosy
Cynic - Focus
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
Deicide always sounded really powerful like this type of music should, I always thought the Swedish bands and most other death metal bands were lacking in that aspect.
Love that picks, here's mine:
1. Cannibal Corpse: Tomb of the Mutilated
2. Death: Leprosy
3. Obituary: Cause of Death
4. Bolt Thrower: For Victory
5. Obituary: Slowly we Rot
@RobArnoldWorld yes Flemming was with Metallica for Master, Ride and Justice
My selection would be (in no particular order)
Possessed - Seven Churches
Six Feet Under - Haunted
Napalm Death - Utopia Banished
Carcass - Heartwork
Death - The Sound of Perseverance (Voice of The Soul is a MASTERPIECE!!!)
Love how you have the actual cds!
Great video , loved the stories
my top 5-Deicide'Legion', Pestilence''Testimony of the Ancients'',Immolation''Unholy Cult'',Vader''Black to the blind"',Death''Individual thought patterns'' \m/
Hey cheers brother and I appreciate it!👊🤘
Interesting list! 90s was the best for all metal i think!
Obituary- The end complete
Death - Symbolic
Entombed - Wolverine blues
Bolt thrower - For victory
Feared - Svart
All sell-out albums, clown.
"Cause of Death" is Obituary's best album.
good ole bolt thrower....i know those guys... me mates in a band with karl now. good list. wolverine blues rules.
@@CBT5777 everyone says that, but i prefer the end complete, better production and more groove!
@@smofla13 nice one
Great list! My top 5:
1.Cryptopsy - None So Vile
2. Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding
3. Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness
4. Deicide - Legion
5. Six Feet Under - Undead
You've got yourself quite a list there too!🤘
Very cool video!
100%!🤘
I just love how much of a humble human being you are in every video. 🫂
Amazing albums you chose for this video.
Throwback to CD life
🙏👊
I still buy cd's. As long as it is possible i will always buy cd's. I want the albums in my hand not some digital bullshit.
Covenant is my favorite death metal album of all time! Even saw em on that tour in 1993. Great picks! 😎🤘
Nice!
Awesome List!
Here is mine:
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
Bolt Thrower - For Victory
Edge Of Sanity - Crimson
Carcass- Necroticism
Grave - Soulless
Six feet under - haunted ❤. Most people would give me shit, but it's been a fav of mine since it came out, I was in 8th grade I think, so it's definitely a nostalgic thing for me.
I hear ya!
1. Deicide - ST
2. Vader - De Profundis
3. Samael - Ceremony of Opposites
4. Morbid Angel - Covenant
5. Malevolent Creation - Retribution
Props for Samael, althought it's not death metal by any means.
Love these vids from you. Hearing you nerd out over bands that I grew up with and feel the same way about...our musical taste is virtually identical and I totally geek out like this on our pod. 🤘
Haha awesome bro! We're in good company! 👊🍻
Sinister - Diabolical Summoning
Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness
Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding
Immolation - Here In After
You should have lasted more with SFU because your contribution to their discography is simply stunning. Congratulations for this.
I appreciate that brother🤘
My top 5 would be
Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding
Morbid Angel - Covenant
Cancer - Death Shall Rise
Obituary - Slowly We Rot
Rob, “Undead” is one of my favorite Death Metal albums ever. You outdid yourself with that one. So brutal and tasty!
Nile is one of my favorite Death Metal bands. I remember when I first found them, so unique and underrated in my opinion. “Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka” is just sick.
I appreciate that bro! 🤘
Portal - Outre
Spectral Voice - Eroded Corridors of Unbeing
Temple Nightside - The Hecatomb
Bolt Thrower - IVth Crusade
Impetuous Ritual - Relentless Execution ...
they are vastly different but gave me the most impressive deliveries of some killer ideas in music.
A friend loaned me Alters of Madness and I listened to it on my walkman walking home by myself on a freezing cold February night. It was terrifying. So, it is definitely my number 1.
Awesome video, love the old school vibes, the cd's and all the nostalgia behind it!
Right on!🤘
Awesome video, Rob! Would love to hear your favorite modern death metal albums. Mine are:
Soreption - Monument of the End
Cattle Decap - Death Atlas and Anthropocene Extinction
Archspire - Bleed The Future
Suffocation - Hymns From the Apocrypha
Fallujah - Dreamless
Thanks dude!🤘
There's an intrinsic connection and unity to the records involved in Rob's top five list, catchy riffs and fat low tones.
🤘
Love seeing your passion for this music. These videos are great!
👊
Love the context given to this list. Lot of folks review music in a 40 year vacuum. It’s not possible. You have to get the context behind it, how different and influential the music was at the time. Great list, can’t go wrong - my all time #1 is Suffocation - Pierced from Within - when that dropped in ‘95 it was some of the most complex and brutal stuff I’d ever heard.
Pierced from Within is a MONSTER for sure! 🤘
1. Demilich - "Nespithe"
2. Timeghoul - "1992-1994 Discography"
3. Necrophobic - "The Nocturnal Silence"
4. Cenotaph - "The Gloomy Reflection of Our Hidden Sorrows"
5. Adramelech - "Psychostasia"
6. Rippikoulu - "Musta Seremonia"
7. Funebrarum - "Beneath the Columns of Abandoned Gods"
8. Convulse - "World Without God"
9. Gorement - "The Ending Quest"
10. Sororicide - "The Entity"
11. Disembowelment - "Transcendence into the Peripheral"
12. Rottrevore - "Iniquitous"
13. Crucifixion - "Desert of Shattered Hopes"
14. Necro Schizma - "Erupted Evil"
15. Molested - "Blod-draum"
16. Asphyx - "The Rack"
17. Morta Skuld - "Dying Remains"
18. Phlebotomized - "Immense Intense Suspense"
19. Mortuary Drape - "All the Witches Dance"
20. Infester - "To the Depths, in Degradation"
One of my favorites has to be Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten
Great album! I'm a big fan of Pierced From Within.🤘
90s Suffocation were unstoppable
Hey Rob, great job with the channel. Chimaira fan and a fan of your channel here, also recently turned my teenage son onto you guys. I agree with your assessments of Morbid Angel. Those are killer records. Angel of Disease is Trey doing the vocals. Flemming Rasmussen is also the guy that did Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and ...And Justice For All
I would say that some of my top favorite death metal albums would be...
1. Carcass - Heartwork
2. Morbid Angel - Covenant
3. Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse
4. Behemoth - The Satanist
5. Decapitated - Carnival Is Forever
6. Rivers of Nihil - Where Owls Know My Name
7. Allegaeon - Proponent for Sentience
8. Dying Fetus - Stop At Nothing
9. Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance
Dude that's a fucking SICK list!
@hellvallah5962 there are some others, but these particular ones jumped out at me first
Nice list man!
👊😎
Giant Records was a sub label of Warner Brothers records. Covenant and Domination were major label records and the first two death metal albums on a major label.
Angel of Disease was sang by Trey and it was the first song morbid Angel ever wrote
Death - Human
Carcass - Necroticism Descanting the Insalubrious
Entombed - Clandestine
Morbid Angel - Covenant
Napalm Death - Utopia Banished
These are the death metal albums that had the most impact on my life back then.
San Diego has always been one of my favorite places on earth!🤘
@@RobArnoldWorld Yeah, it's pretty nice! I'm actually from Tijuana but me and my pals would go to SD for the shows! 🤘🏼
Rob, you are like the old brother I would dream to have. The problem I am older than you! Ha ha . It's incredible to see, despite culturals differences, langages, that we are connected with the same albums, even the same songs. A French Chimaitallica' s fan ') take care and thanks you :)
Well said bro! The metal brotherhood is strong! Thanks for tuning in and cheers to France! 🤘👊
Good list 🤘 for me
1) Entombed - Clandestine
2) Carcass- Heartwork
3) Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness
4) Cannibal Corpse - Torture
5) Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh
Nice video Rob! Would be fun to see you do some occasional reaction/analysis videos to metal songs
Nice selection...i would choose :
Death - Human
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Morbid Angel - Blessed are the Sick
Deicide - Legion
Carcass - Heartwork
...Obituary - The End Complete ...and many others !
Right on Rick! 🤘
1. Monstrosity: In dark purity
2.Malevolent Creation: Retribution
3. Cannibal Corpse: Bloodthirst
4. Vader: De profundis
5. Immolation: Here in after
Malevolent Creation isn't mentioned very often, but when they are, I'm a happy camper.
Death: Leprosy
Carcass: Symphonies of sickness and Necroticism
Morbid Angel: Covenant
Bolt Thrower: War Master
Obituary, is my all time favorite. Thats the sound I love and in my own music, you can definitely hear the influence.
Was really hoping for Suffocation Breeding the Spawn shout out. That album changed technical death metal forever!
1:
Spiritual Healing
Clandestine
Altars of Madness
Deicide
2:
Wolverine blues
Where No Life Dwells
Shadows in the Deep
3:
The Bleeding
Thresholds
Massive Killing Capacity
My Most favourite Album ever is Bolt Thrower -Warmaster.
Rob is so easy to watch and listen to...dude is super chill and always putting out some interesting content (natural stuff...not forced trying to grab attention)
👊
Love the record exchange sticker on the deicide album. Man I miss going there. I found so many good local bands and underrated gems there.
Great picks, it's like you are in my brain for the time period. I'd also throw in
Death - Symbolic
Carcass - Necroticism
Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption
Also Undead is probably the only SFU record that I loved front to back and I didn't even know for a long time that you were the songwriter on it. Being a huge Chimaira fan it made sense why I loved it. Your writing kicks ass! PS the world needs Chimaira!
Awesome man! And I appreciate that Undead love! 👊🤘
Decapitated Nihility album.. Start to Finish is flawless, an absolute masterclass
Organic as well
Undead is a masterpiece. Still come back to it often! Great list Rob, cheers 🍻
Cheers dude! 👊🤘
I love this kind of format, it's really interesting to find out all about it.
Thanks for tuning in!
Agreed!
I seen Morbid Angel with Pantera back in HS. They were the insane live. Phil came out and did a song with them. Don’t remember what song but it was sick. Amazing band.
Yeah I wish I could have caught that tour, and kudos to Pantera for taking out a band like Morbid and exposing them to the masses. 🤘
The drumming on that tour got me into death metal
Great selections, I'm not sure I could pick my ultimate faves but I'd like to throw Malevolent Creation - Retribution, Pestilence - Consuming Impulse & Cannibal Corpse - Vile in there. The Haunted came out before he left Cannibal btw.
1. Covenant 2. Human 3. Cause Of Death 4. Pierced From Within 5. The Bleeding
I’m 47 and you nailed it with those albums all of those are top notch my favorites as well.
Once Upon the Cross 🤘. Such a FANTASTIC album.
Bloodbath - Nightmares made flesh
Aborted - The Archaic Abattoir
Defleshed - Reclaim the beast
Yyrkoon - Unhealthy opera
Carnal Forge - Gun to mouth salvation
Solid list I have to say. Mine, for what it's worth:
Deicide - Overtures of Blasphemy (I know it's not a classic era or line-up but that album absolutely destroys)
Nile - Black seeds of Vengence
Obituary - Dying of Everything (again I know not a classic era album but just so good from start to finish)
Entombed - wolverine blues (you can call it death and roll if you like, but whatever it's classified as the riffs are all insane.)
Death - Symbolic
You should totally do a collab with Josh Middleton. I’m sure it would melt faces 🤘🏼
Damn I spoke before the end of the video.
All of these masterpieces are essential
I definitely hear ya on all that! And yep, every once and awhile, Headbangers Ball would sneak in something exxxxtra heavy for us!🤘
Haha yep! That's how we had to do it!🤘@@PhilippSchmale
Heres mine:
5. Regin Supreme - Dying fetus
4. Annihilation of the Wicked - Nile
3. Skeletal Domain - Cannibal Corpse
2. Blessed are the Sick - Morbid Angel
1. Symbolic - DEATH
You're the best, Rob! I actually had the pleasure for opening for you at Harpo's in Michigan
Nice! Tallest stage ever!
I must say these 5 albums are close to my heart and were all big influences on me back in the 90's. Good taste!
👊
Death Metal is so tricky because so VAST in sub "styles"... but my top 5 would be and because Chuck was too genius to have only one spot so there are 6 :
Death - Symbolic
Death - Human
Carcass - Heartwork
Gojira - Terra Incognita
Dying Fetus - Reign Supreme
Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
EDIT on the day after! Vader - Black to the Blind is actually number 3 ! I forgot one of my very favs!
Nice list!
My fav Deicide album is Legion tbh, i like Once Upon the Cross too but i think legion just hits that bit harder
I missed the boat on Obituary tbh, i like that album with Dying on it (cant remember the name whoops) and even went to see them last year, the latest albums kicks ass
Morbid Angel again, haven't listened to much of their stuff, love the track EYES TO SEE EARS TO HEAR though
The Bleeding would probably make my list for sure
And man i have never heard much good spoken of Six Feet Under so maybe ill give that album a listen
Ones that would make my list are
None So Vile by Cryptopsy (saw them a fortnight ago and christ alive was it madness)
Nesphite by Demilich is insane
Leprosy by Death, definition of a classic, saw Left to Die perform it a year ago and it was amazing, had some OG members.
Suffocation's Effigy of the Forgotten would probably make my list too
For a newer age band i would definitely say The Nine Choirs by Tribal Gaze, wowwzzza wowzza the inetnsity
So yeah theres my list, enjoyed your vid ❤

Yeah, 1995 was an amazing time to be into death metal. To be there when those records hit the music stores and then listening to them with your buddies for the first time. Those bands really delivered that year. We listened to those albums hundreds of times and studied the CD booklets in-and-out. In fact, that's how we learned of new bands, by who they thanked in the CD booklet.
100%🤘
Cleveland metal fan here. Glad to find your channel. I was on WRUW 91.1 back in the early 90s when all those great death metal albums came out. Caught some great shows too. Cannibal Corpse, Atheist and Gorguts at the Agora Ball room. Sepultura in the Agora theater, also Grave and Acid Bath. What a great era.. I never caught Chimaira as I wasn’t going to many shows going into the 2000s.
Yeah that was a killer time for metal no doubt, and those late night college radio stations were a blessing. Oh and welcome aboard!🤘
@@RobArnoldWorld I was introduced to the likes of Kreator, Whiplash and Voivod listening to WCSB on Friday Nights..
88.3 introduced me to Rage Against the Machine... something I'll forever be grateful for! @@masonb9788
I'm a big death metal fan
My top 5 will be :
1- the one and only Death Human
2- Carcass Heartwork
3- Cannibal Corpse Vile
4 - Disincarnate dream of the carrion kind
5 - Decapitated Nihility
Happy someone finally gave DOMINATION the respect it deserves. Fantastic album!
Absolutey. All the metal world puts Altars and Covenant on the front but Domination is the one album I really prefer from Morbid. The compositions, the production are perfection.

🤘
Bolt Thrower - Warmaster , Immolation - Atonement , Firespawn - Abominate , Pestilence - Testimony Of The Ancients , Skeletal Remains - The Entombment Of Chaos , Diabolizer - Khalkedonian Death

3 - Symbolic - Death
4 - Mental funeral - autopsy
5 -Like an ever flowing stream - Dismember
6 - Those once loyal - Bolt thrower
When it comes to Death metal I got out of it in 94. Reason why is because every new band that I was hearing all sounded the same as the death metal bands that I was into. But my top 5 death metal albums are.
5 Cancer - Death shall rise
4 Obituary - Cause of death
3 Malevolent creation - The ten commandments
2 Pestilence - consuming impulse
1 Death - Leprosy
There are some other death metal albums that I love. Like Massacre - from beyond. Morgoth - The eternal fall. Gorguts - The erosion of sanity.
My top 5 :
1. Wicked Innocence - Omnipotence
2. Immolation - Here in after
3. Suffocation - Effigy of the forgotten
4. Nile - In their darkened shrines
5. Disgorge - Consume the forsaken
Stay brutal !
Big agree on the Nile's one. Most always choose Annihilation of the wicked (in which i think the titletrack is the best song of the band ever) but in theri darkned shrines is what represents Nile more.
