It's one of those very enlightening episodes. Thank you so much for bringing over all the very talented people around the scene. No other metal fan could have asked for anything better than Ola's show here.
Jens is easily my favorite sound-magician when it comes to metal. I learned that by accident when I went through my collection and almost every time I went "Yeah that album sounds amazing, let's see who did that." ,it turned out to be mixed and/or mastered by him or at least in his studio.
It’s kind of funny how that happens sometimes. I’m the same with Jens work but also Jamie King and Will Putney, the albums they produce are all just such high quality it seems regardless of the band playing the music.
Bogren Digital is kind of my new obsession now, amp sims, IRs, krimh drums, recently bought the 66o6+, it’s all I could want for a high gain tone, and I have tried almost every other amp sim out there, also the talent this guy has in the mix!!!!, thank you Jens
I love what Jens did with Between the Buried and Me "Coma Ecliptic". He added so much clarity to their sound. It was definitely a huge step up from their previous albums (no offense to Jamie King). The mix was so clean and less fatiguing on the ears than previous albums. That was a stand out album for me. And Opeth Ghost Reveries and Watershed. All 3 of these albums are top tier in terms of songwriting and production.
There is a saying in Finland. "Your fingers come out of your sound". Well, in this case it's a "bit" diffenent. Posted by a poser from Finland with Viva Emptiness as vinyl. So well, I don't know. Good video and thanks for all. Hyvää joulua och god jul.´ E: Love Jens, that's my meaning basically. And Opeth is a true gem ❣
One of the best metal producers in the industry rn. Absolutly blown away by his work. But his work with SepticFlesh definetly deserves a mention here. On of the best symphonic metal mixes ever made. Powerful, dynamic, huge, clear. Jens is a legend, no doubts
Amazing to hear that Jens listened to bands like Deliverance and Mortification in his teenage years, as I listened to and enjoyed them as well, in addition to bands like the Crucified, Living Sacrifice, Tourniquet, Vengeance, etc. The Amp Knob products are fantastic! I have all of them except for the new Trivium versions, which I will certainly pick up soon 👍
At War with Reality from At The Gates is the(!) best sounding melodic death metal album ever in my opinion. Also the BDH5169 is one of my favourite ampsims. Awesome interview 🤘
Beside having created the most awesome amp sim known to mankind (Ampknob &bassknob) Jens have also mixed and mastered the most awesome album ever Symphony X Iconoclast. Cheers from Vancouver Canada Jens
Awesome! One of my favourite "Coffe with Ola" so far. I am always so curious about the education of the people established in the music scene. My question might sound a bit weird, but I wonder if most of the famous metal producers have actually studied sound engineering or learnt it all by themselves. I am studying something completely different from music to have kind of a "job security", but I am also interested in music production. However, I rarely have time to learn all these things by myself next to my studies and my parents would probably not be happy if I would sit at home 24/7 and learn how to mix songs instead of "proper studying" at university if you know what I mean. So I'm curious how producers like Jens could afford to learn these things in their 20ies.Probably he did some side job if he was not actually studying? Much respect for these guys
Not only has Jens worked with nearly every one of my favorite bands, but he's worked on my favorite albums by each of them. At War With Reality, War Eternal, Surtr Rising, Ghost Reveries, After (Ihsahn), The Ride Majestic, Atoma, E (Enslaved), Heart Like A Grave, Netherheaven, Under The Red Cloud, and Shades of Sorrow. Anything this man touches has a characteristic that I just get and love. I use his Krimh Drums for my own demos and such and they're absolutely phenomenal!
love this.... i grew up in same era in South Africa... we were going to tour with Paradise Lost in South Africa in 1996 but they cancelled the tour... long story short we went to Academy Studios in UK to record our album Bloedrivier.,,, why because Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Cradle of Filth all used Academy Studios in those daze...... nice to hear again someone form my gen on these subjects
Wow, I can't believe Ola was able to get Jens on here... Katatonia is my favourite band and this guy produced some of their best albums (Great cold distance, night is the new day). Absolute legend, and I also bought his MLC plugin as my first plugin when I made the transfer to digital.
Awesome interview Ola. It's funny I knew all the Christian bands he mentioned and have seen them live as a young teen I was also in that Christian metal scene and later gravitated towards the Goth and Metal scene with Paradise Lost being a huge influence on me. Jens is an amazing producer. 🤘
I love his work, the sound that he created for the bands are all amazing. Currently, my favorite one right now is his work with Pain Of Salvation's Remedy Lane:Remixed
Cool interview ❤. Jens taught music production at the media school he mentioned for a short time in the early 2000:s. I was in one of his classes but at the time it really wasn't my thing so I wasn't paying super good attention ... Wish I could go back and slap myself for that 😅. If I recall correctly he had had us listen to, among other, Dream Theater and Spiritual Beggars for inspiration ... Super cool 🤘
glad to hear stories about Paradise Lost.. Faith Divides Us, Death Unites Us is one of their top albums, the production is stunning.. it was like yesterday when they were posting video reports from Örebro
Wow ! Jens Bogren ! Super cool ! 20:20 Being in small band and recording all pre prod in my home studio, but we are going in studio for our records, because it's important for a band, for the experience, for having great stuff to use in real life, in real condition. You learn so much that way. So in a bedroom maybe ok, but for a real band I recommend to live this kind of experience.
Currently watching this while I'm noodling on guitar through the AmpKnob Rev C lol. Edit: Crazy to hear Jens talk about Deliverance and Mortification, since I also grew up on those bands. Makes sense he's worked with Extol on the last two releases.
As someone who's big into guitar solos and stopped listening to Sepultura after roots (until the Quadra album), telling Andreas Kisser to make his solos better is something that has earned Jens even more of my respect.
Nice! He made great production and great plugins. I remember me after buying the first IR pack. Anything sounds better with that IRs on it. I made a bunch of presets combining different IR based on names. Resulting in names like "fart in heaven". That was lot of fun. 🤣🤣🤣
Great vid. Love Jens' productions and his digital products/IR's etc..but theres nowt wrong with the northern accents of people like Paradise Lost.Yorkshire folk rock..haha!!
Que buen video para reflexión y yo creo q esta es una d las fortalezas del canal de César q no solo es aprendizaje tecnico si no para ser mejores a modo integral
I have a list of tracks I use for mix/master reference and noticed a short while back all were either by Jens Bogren or Jacob Hansen. I reference Katatonia a lot so...
I've come to believe that mixing/mastering/producinig, although three different jobs, are a craft of their own. I struggle so much more with this stuff than composing or writing lyrics etc. As i understand it, mixing and mastering are something you need to learn but then comes production or post producion or whatever you talanted people call it, and here you can be so much more creative, from a background sound of rain, a cricket, a fart, or a volume raise/drop, to bringing whole other instruments in the mix to accenuate a part or even a single metre. You have to come up with these things as you do with your music, imagine the song/track as an experience even more than a story in itself. I should stop rumbling and just say, the producer is actually the unsung hero of the project, the bassist does ok for himself usually xD
Jens Bogren, what a legend...
Absolutely! He's helped make so many amazing albums.
A complete genius... and so humble... I like that he asked at the end "Can we hug?"
GREAT interview!
It's one of those very enlightening episodes. Thank you so much for bringing over all the very talented people around the scene. No other metal fan could have asked for anything better than Ola's show here.
And, he's a hugger. Great vid!
Awesome! Jens is the master of his craft. It’s always lovely recoding with him 🤟🏻
Well done with the drum plugin ! It's sound so good !
Love love Krimh drums! Need a midi pack!
@@MoreMeRecording He has a MIDI pack with GGD...just bought it myself.
I’ve met him
The Septicflesh albums with him on production all sound incredible
What Jens did with Opeth is pure magic. Thank you, Jens. And OLA!!
What does this even mean? What are you hearing when.... what??
@@Music-tx5jlhe’s referring to Ghost Reveries and Watershed, which Jens Produced
@@franciscogarza4921 Oh... I have no idea what that means...
dude asked for a hug at the end. what a legend. so wild how many cool bands hes worked with. what a master
Producer with the Death t-shirt. That's awesome. This is what the world needs!
Jens is easily my favorite sound-magician when it comes to metal.

I did the same thing.
What a genuine nice and talented guy! Recorded one of our albums at his first Fascinations Street studio back in the summer of 2006 🙌🏽
Legend. The records he did with Opeth, Paradise Lost and Speticflesh are all time favorites!
His work with Amorphis is unreal.
Bogren Digital is kind of my new obsession now, amp sims, IRs, krimh drums, recently bought the 66o6+, it’s all I could want for a high gain tone, and I have tried almost every other amp sim out there, also the talent this guy has in the mix!!!!, thank you Jens
Krimh drums Free is crazy good and we're all lucky to have those sounds for nothing. Thanks Jens.
The best mixing engineer for Metal and Rock
I love what Jens did with Between the Buried and Me "Coma Ecliptic". He added so much clarity to their sound. It was definitely a huge step up from their previous albums (no offense to Jamie King). Just did his course on NTM , what a boss. Learned so much, he's really on another level.
Machine Messiah and Quadra are huge sounding albums!

Another great conversation. Friendly and respectful with a 'Chug hug' ending.
Thanks.

Jens mixed and mastered an album my old band did in '18. He did a great job. Worth every cent!!!
Similar thing for me with the Christian bands, I'm very familiar with them. Great talk, Ola! Jens is my favorite producer going today.
At War with Reality from At The Gates is the(!) best sounding melodic death metal album ever in my opinion. Also the BDH5169 is one of my favourite ampsims. Awesome interview 🤘
Just here to say thanks for the AmpKnob plugin, Mr. Bogren 👌
That's really nice Ola! Please bring more producers! It would be great a Coffee with Andy Sneap
That would be legendary!
What a legend. Most of my favourite albums are produced/mixed by him. Awseome interview!
Loved Jens Interview. He is so full of wisdom and knowledge!
I love it when you let loose to nerd out with living legends
Great interview with a perrson! So many wonderful album produced! By the way I think that MLC sub zero is a very valid plugin, it deserves a try.
Kudos to Jens and his work with Haken's Fauna. Pure audio feast!
Thank you both!
Awsome, I would also like to see Peter Tagtgren here with you!

The Danish Art of (C)HUGGE
Gotta love Ola pluggin EZ Drummer with the creator the incredible *KRIMH* drums sitting right beside. Heavy heavy ballz, Ola! 😆
Great plugins, i just recorded and mixed Avenged sevenfold cover at home, sounds great, thanks Jens! 😊

This was great ! Please have more interviews with producers !! Please!!
This was great! Very natural and informative.
Holy... i just rolled through his Wikipedia. He did some of the best records of the past 10 years. Respect!
Sorry.... past 20 years
What Jens did with Symphony X, Opeth and Dimmu Borgir is simply amazing. They both make me proud as a swede.
Nice love to see more producers/mixers on for sure in addition to musicians. Jens has done so many great records/bands \m/
Lets get Jens to mix the next The Cure album ❤
been waiting for this one for a while, love all the bogren digital stuff!
Jeeez Ola. Jens Bogren, Ihsahn next (as you've already teased), holy cow, great guests!

Awesome!!!! Jens is a legend! His products are so valuable for the home studio artist.
"Can we hug?" So sweet!
Jens with Ola…..double whammy!
Amazing! Loved it!! Great interview gents!
Love the lil bromance moment at the end there.

Mortification!!!! I saw a video of Steve Rowe laying down vocal tracks in the hospital while fighting cancer lol.
Owwwwwww…this is huge! For sure one of my favorite “Coffee with” 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
Niceeee Jens is great! Definitely one of the best producers of all time!!!
You should interview Dan Swano
I have several cabinets here at the studio, but the one I choose most often is my Mesa oversized that I bought in 2004 I think 🤓
Great interview. So interesting and informative. Jens is the man.
glad to hear stories about Paradise Lost.. Faith Divides Us, Death Unites Us is one of their top albums, the production is stunning.. it was like yesterday when they were posting video reports from Örebro

Jens is a certified legend, this conversation was awesome!
The two titans, such a treat to watch 🤘
I never knew one guy produced literally every single on of my favourite metal albums. What an absolute talent!
Chimaira covered The Cure's "fascination street" and its one of the best covers of that song i have heard, check it out.
Watershed and Codex Omega are two of my favorite metal albums because of Jens’ sonic vision.
Love seeing more coffees with Ola again! :3
Well, he worked with Katatonia. Nuff said! I'm in!
Great interview! Next, Andy Sneap.
35:33 Is the Rhythm Sound on Twilight of the Thundergod the Diezel VH4, isn't it?
Great man! Now get Frederick Nordström for a cofee please!
Man, Jens' shoes are the most rock n roll shoes I've seen in a while
Frisking daily? Is that for real? In North America that would be a problem, but you guys are so chill about it.
I need the 3 days long version of this!
A man of culture.
Very nice shirt, sir Jens.

You tease! You cut right before the hug connected! You should release a short or second channel vid of just the hug lmao.
Cool T-shirt Jens 😎
