"I feel like life is so goddamn difficult that we should be supporting people. Like, dude, if you like dressing up in a fur costume and that makes you happy, here's a brush." - Devin Townsend, 2020

@@graysonwilson-cacciapalle7989 So fucking true man. It's why I'm such a devoted Devin Townsend fan. Other than his music being absolutely PHENOMENAL, he's just a beautiful and warm hearted human being who just loves making music and being happy. There are so many reasons to admire this man. *"I just want things to be awesome. So I just spend shitloads of money. I'm in debt every project I do. Every tour I do. Everything."* This is just one of several reasons I admire this man. To say nothing about this man's seemingly infinite talent. His kind hearted and generous nature. His uplifting and positive message. His humor. The fact he doesn't take himself too seriously and just wants to have fun with his fans. He could easily be a cocky, arrogant bastard and be justified in it based on his accomplishments alone. But he isn't. He's the most humble man I've ever seen. A man unaware of just how talented he really is and how much what he does means to all of us as fans who follow his career with avid anticipation. The fact he's willing to invest so much of his own money into his work speaks volumes. And it's why I will forever support this man. We love you, Devy. I could listen to Devin talk for days. I saw a video that he describes how he met Chad from Nickelback and how Chad taugh him how their writing and producing at Nickelback works and how they basicly "prints money". But the commentary Devy did about it was amazing for me. He said that even though it would be amazing to make shit loads of money it wouldn't be true to him. It would be meaningless, although he said that he trully admires Chad for what they accomplished with Nickelback. And that was one of the most amazing things for me about Devin Townsend.

That being well known, alot of people take it way over the edge anyway. Alot of confidence is what you need. Not arrogance.

Wow, I don't listen much to Devin's music, but the man himself is so fascinating. Great interview Ola! You asked just enough to get Devin to go off on his tangents and that was very entertaining. You guys are both awesome assets to the guitar community!
I don't have any market data, but I think having tons of models with Evertune really helped Solar sell guitars. When I was shopping for an Evertune guitar I really only had 3 choices: 1) a noname cheapo guitar with questionable quality on amazon 2) one Epiphone model only in LP shape 3) any of the Solar ones with Evertune. So here I am, almost 2 years later, with my Solar A1.6ETC. I definitely made the right choice.

I first heard of Devin when he was with Steve Via. Saw them in a club on Orlando FL. He came out wearing adult onesie pajamas with multicolored polka dots. Like Wonder bread. He was awesome. Of course Steve was also. Great musician with a statospheric I.Q. Thanks Ola. Could you please get Obituary on. My friend Kenny is the lead guitarist.
If you think about it....how awesome is it to meet one of our musicial inspirations, heroes...whatever you want to label 'em...and they turn out to be even more cool than we had hoped. I'm sure Ola, you'll agree. It's so refreshing to see someone who is a man among men creativity wise, acknowledge that at times, just like the rest of us, he feels life is "G-Damn difficult" and doesn't for one second feel the need to apologize for saying it. It's why I've been a fan of DT for years. He gives off this vibe that even if he wasn't creating art for the ears, he'd still be the guy you'd want to hang with. This was one satisfying cup of java Ola. Well done.

Ola reminds me of Jerry when he plays his new Fender :D

What a fantastic idea!
That was fucking awesome!!! I finished work, grabbed the iPad and a beer watching this I literally felt like I was there in the room.. epic chat with 2 fucking legends!! 🤘🏼🇦🇺🤘🏼
I don't have the time to watch this at the moment, but I'm absolutely positive that it's amazing
It is.
It really is
Come back, or keep looking over your shoulder 24/7, LOL
If Devin had time to do this interview that means you have time watch it bro. Check yourself.
Okay, I watched it! A whole hour o' Devin rambling about things and losing track of what the original topic was. This truly is a gift! Also, I remember when Lucky Animals came out and a bunch of people sent in little videos of them dancing in their fursuits- seeing him here a few years later saying 'here's a brush!' is so validating lol. Devin is one of my favourite humans for sure
Thanks mother nature for giving us Devin Townsend.....best Coffee with Ola ever.
That insanely levitating lamp shade distracted me the whole time. I mean, the metal rod just ends and then shit....idk! Good interview Ola!
Half way through and now look what you've done.
well that was fun, thanks Ola! Great to just be a fly on the wall for a killer conversation.
When worlds collide!!!
Dev is such an influence, so cool that he is on here. Thanks Ola 🤘🎸🎶
Devin Townsend is genuinely the most interesting guy to listen to best episode of coffee with ola by far imo
31:15 The curling of the string around Ola's Tuner he referenced in another recent video.
Remember which video?
@@Invertiga I'll have to take a run through a few of his recent videos and I'll post it back here when I find it.

I met devin a few years back. Such a nice guy, signed my shirt and was super down to earth and took the time to talk with me and a lady that had cancer.
Great interview.Greetings from Norway.
Wish I could sit with you and Dev. I would absolutely love to see what I could learn from you both as both a musician and just a human. Thanks for this one Ola!
Devin is hilarious! I appreciate his sense of humor.
I'm From Alaska.. I hope we treated you well and you had a great time. Peace Devin... Ola.
My friend Kenny is the lead guitarist.
his vocals in the song 'pig' were insane. definitely my favourite vai song ever
via Steve Vai?
😏
Dude, you're friends with Kenny? He's fucking awesome. Basically the only lead player in obituary after James Murphy who's been properly good.
Steve Via are THE BEST Steve Vai tribute band
😁
@@kampfkustomer2343 my mistake. I are a collage student.
Well done.
This just made my day!
I´ve been looking forward to this episode the moment you announced it.
Enjoyed every minute of it!
Two of the coolest dudes in music contemplating about farts, evertune and a-namm-nesia :-D
thanks Ola!
again
A thing that would make me very happy would be invite Devin to have some pinneaple juice. I cannot describe how much his music, lyrics and thoughts helped me to see life now the way I see it; I really feel in peace with myself and think I'm a better person.
Anyway, thanks Dev and Ola for another amazing talk!
Devin is the sort of guy that you really would love to have as a friend and hang out with 4 days a week.
I don't know. The man's an introvert. As an introvert myself I know how difficult spending that much time with someone is.
I love Devin, he must really be an alien or some sort of thing. I wish every human being should have a 10% of what Devin has in his brain. I'm happy to see you two sharing common ideas and beliefs.
Ola thanks for this video series and in particular for THIS video. I really L O V E D it.
Cheers from Italy!
Really good panning on the voices.
These guys seem to be a good match.
What were we talking about!! I think i fell down the rabbit hole watching this.. loved this!!
A more appropriate title would be "Ola Englund chilling with Devin Townsend."
Just checks all the boxes. Humble, funny, charismatic. He's not a guitar player or a musician, but a composer with a grander vision.
Hevy Devy: "Why feel upset about things you can't control?"
Also Devy: "I don't understand why all of you people aren't using Evertune!"
slappadabass this was the best part. Devin doesn’t care about politics or music but he hates music gear evangelists and loves evertune. 😂
Devin in the Academy in Dublin was my favorite gig last year. A small venue which holds only around 800 people. And I saw the Foo Fighters in the RDS, and Metallica in Slane with over 80,000 people. Every musician on stage was amazing. Mike Keneally, Markus Reuter, Nathan Navarro, Morgan Agren... Bliss!
