I’ve been waiting for a B14R for a couple of months and it’s just come in, I’m waiting on the optic now....looking forward to shooting it. Thanks for taking the time to post your content.
Really enjoy your videos! Getting myself & son into NRL22 this year. Looking at the BMR carbon w/ Argos BTR gen2 6-24x50 or BMR steel w/ Argos BTR gen2 8-34x56. What’s your thoughts for solid base class starter rig?
Greetings! Thanks for the kind words! You will want the steel barrel for better balance. I would suggest the 6-24 for a couple of reasons. The 6x will be useful for stages with real close targets (30 yds). You won't ever need to go above 24x. With the 8-34 version, you lose some clarity above 24x. I would also suggest getting one in mil as that is what the majority of competitors use and it is helpful to speak a common language
So they are no the same actions? I have been waiting for the bmr, handled one yesterday and was very disappointed. The bolt action felt like they machined with a hammer and hand file.
It seems my feeding problems were solved when I simply rounded the corners on the magazine feed lips. I fired over two hundred rounds with no problems after the fix.
A question one always has to ask.... "why" are you fixing a gun at the price you pay for these bergara`s. Seems like alot of problems all over youtube with these bergara rimfires.
In the precision matches in my area, everyone is shooting a b14r or a cz457. If you want a rabbit, squirrel, coyote, rifle that’s light and won’t kill you after a day of lugging it around then the bmr is for you. But if your looking for one for nrl22, or prs22 unfortunately you won’t be seeing a bmr on the leader board for a reason. Shooting base class unfortunately there are a lot better choices is what i found. Mine will shoot minute of squirrel all day long, has taken more rabbits than i care to count, but will not out shoot my rprr when it comes to base or production class by a long shot.
I'm saving up to get a BMR right now! 😁 I have a B14-R Carbon and it shoots incredible, but like you said a little bit too heavy to pack around for long periods of time.
You nailed it! I always say yes to the MCD's "2fors" and always regret eating either! I'm currently eyeing my 4th Bergara rifle and am still hungry for more! :-) Great vid, keep em coming!
The BMR ships with a 30 MOA rail. Unless you have an optic to support that kind of “long range” activity with rimfire then your going to have to pay extra to get a 0 MOA rail which will allow you to engage in realistic hunting distances. I think it’s awesome to have the option of a trainer that mimics the bigger thing but rather then pay the extra 💵 for a better optic so I can nail a regular sized target out at the 300-500 yard line It just makes more sense for me personally to decrease the size of my target and keep it dialed in at working rabbit distances of 25-100 yards. If your aiming at something the size of a goffball at the 100 it’s a much harder target then hitting a regular 12 inch plate at 3x the distance.
@@darrondb absolutely. unfortunately I am still waiting for my rail to ship from the factory since posting this comment :( ... but otherwise no complaints.
Well, the silver lining here is that the stock BMR rail is bad enough in quality and design that it warrants replacing anyway. I factored the EGW rail into the BMR cost.
I've got a Carbon BMR in .22 mag and absolutely love it! Dime size 10 shot groups at 50 yards with CCI TNT. Im sure the B14 is a shooter as well. Bergara is great quality.
Thank you for your videos. I've really enjoyed them. I have my Bergara B14R in an MPA chassis identical to yours; however, I've feeding issues which I believe are magazine related. Any thoughts? The rifle does shoot very well. Ironically, it shoots its best groups (sub .4 inch) with inexpensive Aguila ammo. Also, I've ordered a B14R barreled action in steel from Aces and Eights Firearms in Illinois. He's a small dealer with a very basic website, but he's on Facebook.
Never mind about the feeding issue question. I just watched your Q&A Video #1 (i don't know how I missed It) and got my answer. Thanks anyway. BTW, Sniper's Hide Forum has some good info on B14R problems.
I have a question, I just picked up a B14R and I love the gun but I was just wondering is the safety designed to no go back into safe when the bolt is down and cooked? If i bring the bolt handle back up to its unlocked position I can put the safety back on but not when its cooked and in the downward locked position. It will go from safe to unsafe, but not the other way around.
You should be able to engage the safety at any time if the bolt is cocked. The only time you shouldn't be able to engage the safety is if the firing pin has been dropped. Sometimes it can be a little stiff to engage.
Bergara B14R is $1,200 as opposed to BMR being $560 little less than half the B14R, and that is a lot of difference in price. Anyways, thanks, great video and analysis.
Great job. If you own/rent a house with a "subterranean" basement, the wall-(you shot?)-must be concrete, & a good idea for your dedicated gun room. You don’t want to be shooting through drywall into a bedroom, obviously. That said, it would’ve been highly dramatic if you had shot the wall a SECOND time-highly unsafe for the sake of drama, but it happens. Look at Alec Baldwin…well, that’s a poor comparison, I’m talking about you accidentally-🤷🏻♂️-shooting the basement wall/floor. No other people are near you, but ol’ Alec is in a different situation. I was raised to REFRAIN from POINTING even my FINGER at another human, & I learned the hard way that one shouldn’t throw a stone at anything unless you INTEND to hit it. I wasn’t yet a teenager, and like most boys I played baseball, & spotted a wee bird perched upon a power line. Never did I think I would be able to nick it with a little rock, so I found a suitably small stone & threw it at the bird like I was throwing a ground ball to first base. To my horror, not only did my the stone hit the bird, but in a ‘P00F’!💥! it was a cloud of feathers and vapour. I had killed it. The point being, don’t shoot the cement wall for the sake of a dramatic effect. In a moment, anything that we think is impossible will prove otherwise. Don’t do it. Save the bird. I have been carrying this burden for 40 years and wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Great review. How about a review on an "out of the box" Tikka T1x vs. a totally custom built T1x? Chassis, trigger, bolt handle/knob. "Stock" vs. KRG-Bravo, Timney, & Anarchy Outdoors?👏🏼

Thanks for watching!! You'll line the b14r!!
Oh man, I went this morning and bought the BMR in .22LR and it freaking rocks! Zero regrets, it is real accurate.
Glad to hear you're liking it!!
Really happy with my BMR, still putting it through a work out!? Hope to get a B14R next! Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the the insights. Nice to see them side by side.

Love my B14r steel, so happy I started with that for NRL22.
Its a darn good choice!!

I’m here looking at all the bmr bxr reviews. Wanting to get the kids into 4H small bore

The BMR and the B14R are different actions. The BMR can be smoothed up pretty quickly
@@darrondb any idea how to smooth up the bolt action on the bmr?
I polished the bottom of the bolt and the top of the magazine guide with some Emory cloth.
It seems my feeding problems were solved when I simply rounded the corners on the magazine feed lips. I fired over two hundred rounds with no problems after the fix.

Great video. That mcrib bit was great. Iv brrn thinking of getting a bmr.
Thanks for watching!
And any word if bergara is gonna offer aftermarket stocks?
No plans on anything from Bergara as of now.
Close to what video I was looking for. Want some one to do accuracy test bmr vs b14r.
I will try to do that at some point. The b14r has a bit of an advantage with the mini chassis in the stock

Hell yeah you do need 2 McRibbs vs 1!!!!!
No doubt!!!
Why settle for a BMR?
Its not "settling" if it meets your needs and budget 😁. Thanks for watching!!
They are for two different purposes.
Maybe, buy a CZ475 and you have access to one rifle and multiple calibers. .22wrm .22lr and 17HMR and swap barrels?
And the CZ457 will be far more reliable with its feeding and ejection`s.
Why choose? Get both!
Now, BMR carbon or steel? 🤔
Do you need it extra light? If not, steel
if you gotta have all get the cz457 and loads of different barrels and calibers
Always the 2nd McRib. But no pickles.
I have to go with extra pickles!
