    I should have done this a long time ago but we are so happy to have it installed now. We go for walks in the evenings and I always worried about leaving the garage open but didn't want to carry my house keys with us. This allows us to close the garage and reenter when we return home!

    I tried something different and took the keypad off and brought it to the opener with the door shut and sure enough, it worked the very first time, Thank You for your concern. I would like to tell you something that you might have already picked up on youtube but it sure helped me when I found this out. My remote in the car stopped working unless I drove close to the garage and I would have to click it over and over sometimes the door would open and sometimes it wouldn't and then pretty soon my wife's remote started doing the same thing, I looked on RUclips and found out that some LED light bulbs cause interference with the opener and so I went back to the incandescent bulbs and the Opener worked like normal, I guess some CFL's will work also. I went online and found out that Genie makes LED bulbs that have shielding so as not to cause that kind of interference, I also checked online and found another company that makes LED bulbs for the Garage Door Opener but they are very expensive. I just thought if anybody had put LED's in their openers and they started having this trouble now they know it is the bulbs, not the battery or the remote.

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  5 лет назад

      Robert Klein I’m glad you discovered your issue. I actually have a video discussing the issue with LED bulbs and even have a follow up recommending the Genie bulbs. Thanks for sharing that information here as well. People like you make the RUclips community even more valuable.

    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

    • @TightWadDIY

      Ian W Great question. I don't know but I think you could get one keypad to work with both openers. The keypad simply emits a frequency based on the code keyed in. The keypad doesn't know the code for the opener. You should be able to set each opener separately.

      titush23 Have you tried resetting it and programming it again?

      Thanks for your answer. Yes I did it with all the devices . The devices for the cars works fine. The keypad does not have any light so I believe and need to buy a new one, right?

      titush23 Yes. It sounds like your garage door keypad is broken.

    For next time consider not hiding any steps... some people can get confused. But overall thanks for the helpful video

      Fuad David Thank you for the feedback. Which steps were hidden other than entering my code?

    I did everything you showed in your video and it still will not program i tried three time and still nothing the motor will not even pick this remote up at all how can I fix this or is it best I just buy a new program keyboard?

      Eternal U Burgess This may sounds simple but did you try new batteries? It could light up with a weak battery but still not have enough power to transmit a strong enough signal.

    Why do I never see these videos showing someone testing the Enter button after the programming, I have your exact keypad and opener with the purple learn button and do exactly as you have shown and when done anyone from the outside can push only the Enter button and the door will open, I have read in the reviews on Amazon and find others have the same problem but you see everyone only assume that the keypad is working correctly because they will only enter their code first, I ask everyone to please after programming please test the enter button first and some will find that the door will open and the enter code is useless and anyone can get into your garage.

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  5 лет назад

      Robert Klein They will close with just the enter button but should only open with the code. I suggest you reprogram yours if it opens without the code.

      @@TightWadDIY I have programmed it over and over and yet it opens with the enter button both ways it has made me so frustrated and I do see that I am not the only one that has this problem. I will say that because I knew there was this problem when I first got the keypad after programming it I did check it and it worked but since it lost it programming I have not been able to get it to work again. I will say this much it is always nice when someone puts a video on youtube it is nice when the person responds with a reply and that is very commendable and I also am very aware that when a person has many many comments coming to their website it would be an impossibility to respond to everyone but thank you very much.

      Robert Klein I do my best to reply to all comments and try to offer helpful information. I’m sure this is a frustrating situation. Are you saying you can’t get it to program and work at all anymore? You may just have a faulty device that needs to be replaced. How old is it? Have you tried reaching out to Liftmaster?

      William Gibson You must have a different brand or model. What brand and model do you have?

    • @williamgibson736
      @williamgibson736 7 лет назад

      TightWadRepairs keypad doesn't have anything identifiable, the opener is a Chamberlain electrolift superglide

      William Gibson Check inside the battery compartment for a model number. If you can't find one I don't think I can be of any assistance.

    I don't like how any schmoe can just come up, take the battery out, and leave anyone counting on this panel for access out of luck. They should have designed the battery cover so that it was at least secured by the bottom screw hole. It wouldn't be foolproof, but still way more secure than making it accessible to anyone who comes along.

      @@TightWadDIY hmm, no. I think what I did is somehow reset the code accidentally when I was typing it in. But that usually takes two simultaneous presses.

      There are about three major brands. Just stay within the same brand and you are usually good. The only issue is when you have really old equipment.
