Thank you for this video which is very well done. What a job ! You certainly spent a lot of time between the shots, the editing and the really very informative comments. I bought K&F ND2-32 and ND32-512 filters but I must admit that I am disappointed by the difficulty of turning the ring with the addition of a mark which is barely visible, however no problem closing the pocket 3. I have just placed an order for ND filters from STARTRC (Pack of 6 CPL, ND 8, ND 16, ND 32, ND 64, ND256). A big THANK YOU again.
Interesting. I have the K&F Black Mist and it looks great but 8 of 10 times the Gimbal can't close which is fine. The problem is that 2 of 10 times, the Gimbal manages to close and then it can't open. This would indicate that they either modified their early design to there are different widths out there OR they have a QC issue.
Thanks for sharing that, I wasn't aware. They promote that the filter 'Fix the Issue of Original Filters Obstructing Camera Lock-in' on the product page. So I imagine this was an issue with early batches and they've since released a revised version.
Not really any reason why, I just didn't think it was important. Maybe because I am not a big filter user and really it depends on what and how you shoot as to how useful each filter would be for you. All the filters are fiddly to use (can't be helped because of the size) and I didn't notice any image quality issues with any of them. Both the K&F and StartRC filters seemed fine while I didn't like the JSR ones because they are too thick (though see comment from @timbrowntown in regards to K&F filter thickness). Hopefully I included enough information in the video you can form your own opinion, but let me know if there are any questions or anything I missed and maybe I can cover it in a follow video. Cheers Dave
Of the filters I tried I would say K&F and StartRC are equal. June Star seems equal in terms of optical quality but is not as good due to the polarization being in the wrong direction on their NDPLs and their filters being too fat for the Pocket 3 to park its head safely.
For me, it is the polariser, to reduce reflections on leaves. I am not a strong adherent to the 180° shutter angle rule (e.g. using 1/60s shutter speed when shooting 30fps), but if I was then I'd use the NDs or NDPLs much more. I don't use the Black mist at all.
Well, it all depends on what issue you want the filter to solve. For me the CPL is the most useful because I want to reduce reflections. In terms of which is the best filter manufacturer I would say StartRC or K&F just because their filters are thin enough to not cause issues with the gimbal head parking / un-parking. But note the comment from @timbrowntown below about the K&F ones - it seems their earlier versions of the filters were not slim.
The Pocket 3 creators kit comes with the DJI wide-angle lens. If you get the standard Pocket 3 without any extras, then I don't think that comes with a wide-angle lens. I now have a couple of wide-angle adapters from other manufacturers, so I'll hopefully do a comparison when I get time.
To be honest I haven't really used the NDs for real shooting much. Mainly just the CPL. It really depends on the conditions you're shooting in. If you need the reflection reduction capability, then an NDPL is best. If you're shooting in changing light conditions, then the 1-5 stop is more convenient. But you won't be able to adjust it on the fly during a shot like you can with a vari-ND on a standard camera, it's just too fiddly.
The StartRC and June Star filters I bought from AliExpress. The K&F filters I purchased from their UK webstore, but they are available on AliExpress as well. I think they are probably also available on Amazon and eBay.

Thanks very much, glad it was helpful. Yes, the vari NDs are not really adjustable while shooting, unlike a vari ND on a standard camera lens. Regarding the marking, I think if they had made the adjustment ring black rather than orange, the white marker would be easier to see.

@@davidkennardphoto I may need to reach out to them and see if I can get a replacement.
