Just an important piece of info about the Nyko dock. At the end of last year I purchased it and I have used it rather often since then. After a little while, my Switch would only charge from a battery pack and not from the dock nor the Switch charger. The high current charging speed used for TV mode broke (most likely a broken circuit breaker to protect the rest of the system). Nintendo was able to fix my Switch and they did a fantastic service on it. Anyway, point of the matter is that about the same time, SpawnWave uploaded a video about the Nyko dock. He had taken it apart and looked at the components of it like he often does with other electronics. He could not find any problems with the dock whatsoever. He did say that the only thing that he was extremely wary about was the included Nyko charger for the dock. He warned of using any third party chargers for any device as they can damage them. He himself said that he had not used the charger, only the dock, and has had no issues. Since I have received my fixed Switch, I have often used this secondary dock, BUT I NO LONGER USE THE ADAPTER IT CAME WITH!! Guess what. No further problems. The issue with the dock is the charger it comes with. The dock itself is fine. Buy the dock and just use the official Nintendo Switch charger to power it. It's a good dock.
The Nyko metal kickstand, completely breaks the hinges and now my switch can’t hold either kickstand without popping out. And people thought the regular kickstand was bad...
i can see that neck mount thing being used for like mounting your switch/tablet to the back of a car seat for easier viewing while on a long car trip with family or something
The first item could be good when you go to a airport and theres no seat near a table and unless your bones are made of paper the swich is very light and would not cause backstrain
I just want Joy-Cons that are basically a Pro Controller cut in half and slides into the sides of the Switch like the Joy-Cons. I want a comfortable grip for portable mode.
I'd be fine even if these Joy-Cons weren't able to be connected to the Switch. As far as the Joy-Cons have comfy grip, a D-Pad and gyro/accel/(HD) Rumble, I'm fine af
The hori audio combiner thingy-ma-boob is actually really useful. No more do I have to wear 2 sets of headphones when streaming in order to hear both the game & alerts.
This is what happens when Nintendo innovate with new concepts and systems. They make people do creative things around their creations. This happens every time when Nintendo release something new. It's fascinating how much influence Nintendo is able to give to people.
I think it'd be cool if the Switch had a Handy Boy like accessory. Sure it'd probably be impractical, but it'd be cool as long as it has a reasonable price and maybe it could turn out great.
I was actually thinking about getting the neck band thing and seeing if I could get it to where it's upright to my face, but not too close. I want to play Doom in full motion control but standing and turning my body to shoot. Should be interesting. It may not be stupid after all.
David Alvarado yes that is ideal. But only one guy I know made such a kit, but it doesn't have neck and should support. So he uses it while laying down on his back. ruclips.net/video/2AvxaJe31yQ/видео.html
I have a dust cover myself, so I definitely wouldn't say it's the worst accessory -- especially if it being the worst comes down to "leaving it on while you play". It's great to have if you want to keep the dust off your Switch when you're not using it. A genuinely good idea.
What’s the third one called? I’d like to try it at least, as rotating them would be cool. A grip for rotating them in single controller form would be cool too.
number 5 rolled around and I thought "hey, I've heard of a few of those. I've heard that some of them are really useful. I don't see the problem" "it bricks systems." my reaction is most just "what the actual fuck?" I fail to comprehend how this happened...and how they aren't recalling them.
Chrona Trigger And Spawnwave had made a good explanation that it might be the AC adapter they give you that bricks the system. I personally haven't bought nyko dock myself but there are more better third party docks that are better than nyko's recently.
Don't take too long metroid prime 4... and please be good. Man is the phenrena drifts theme so memorable, like peaceful, futuristic rap music with no rap. OH WAIT A SECOND... Great video by the way! Keep up the hard work!
That Audio combiner is really similar to my Switch setup. To explain, I have my switch at my computer desk so I have an audio cable going from the Switch's audio jack into my computer, my computer takes the audio as an input and puts it through my headphones. So that way I can watch youtube or whatever while playing Switch on my second monitor and get audio from both with easy sound balancing.
I don't have a Switch, but if I did, I would use my mixer for this. Going through the PC introduces some latency :P You would actually NEED this Hori thing though because you wouldn't be able to hook up a microphone to your phone through a mixer or a PC. Getting a generic version of this would also be a bad idea because simply combining two sources to one pair of headphones can cause serious issues. I'm sure the Hori device handles that, otherwise it wouldn't be so bulky. It really is a shame that Nintendo is so backwards when it comes to online practices.
Unless, you were using your phone's microphone instead of a headset you have plugged in, if that's even an option. Then you could use a mixer or a PC as the interface for everything.
- The official battery packs for the joycons are kind of daft when you can get a very neat charging dock for four joy cons at a similar price. - I see a lot of third party Joycon grips with cheap batteries inside that seem like a nice idea but have reviews saying the bstteries overheat or that they drain the joycon instead of charging them - Joycon "knife" grips (look 'em up) - Metal stands that block the back vents of the Switch - Other portable docks and hubs for the Switch that have similar bricking problems
I actually really love that Splatoon 2 headset wire. The headset itself is kinda ehh, but I've gotten *so* much use out of the squid shaped wire thing! I love being able to listen to podcasts and GameXplain discussions while playing a game with headphones.
how can you hate on the first accessory (neck holder) when you've even got the variation which mounts your switch to a nearby piece of furniture? The switch doesn't weigh enough to put uncomfortable pressure on your neck. I have one of these neck holders - which I bought to use with my tablet, but have gotten most use out of it with my switch. It holds the switch really close to your face, is perfectly comfortable, DOES in fact fit in a shoulder bag easily for portability (I mean, I wouldn't actually use it out and about cos it looks pretty stupid, but you could). For using your switch in bed, or around the garden etc, this accessory is fantastic. You should really try it out, I got mine for £5.
I think that over-the-neck holder would work for me since I don't have any good place to play my Switch undocked with the Joycons detached. I would like to find if there are "wings" for the Joycons *even when they're detached* because the Joycons on their own can give my standard-sized man-hands gamer's thumb, including my left hand, which rarely gets it.
The issue with the Nyko dock is the way you have to put the Switch into it. There are little nubs there on either side of the USB-C plug instead of the ball bearings in the OEM dock that help guide you towards successfully docking it. Plus, the plug end is just jutting out there: no spring(s) to dampen the force needed to dock your Switch. This means you have to do more finagling with the right angle to get the Switch docked and that can cause the USB-C port to become damaged, essentially bricking it. I tried out this dock myself for a little while and came out unscathed. That said, the build quality was concerning enough for me to return it to Walmart for a refund. If you're in the US (maybe Canada), try out Best Buy's Insignia dock.
Oh, good. I have been living in fear that I would get the "orange screen of death" ever since I've heard of it, and learning that this may be caused by a third-party accessory will let me sleep at night. :)
Might I recommend the Best Buy brand (insignia) dock? It's small, comes with all of the cords, looks great, cheaper than the nyko dock, and doesn't brick switches!
I own the Splatoon 2 headphones and I think the audio quality is great but the headphones don't completely cover your ears making them not sound the greatest but all in all I think they're great.
It's getting somewhat irritating with all of these switch youtubers praising the switch seemingly unconditionally and claiming that valid criticisms like the plastic screen instead of glass being easier to scratch and the dock being designed in a way that can cause it to fairly easily scratch the screen are somehow unfounded. These are issues. Not huge ones, but that doesn't mean they should be dismissed outright. P.S. I was reading that apparently an engineer was doing a bunch of tests on the switch hardware getting lots of errors he shouldn't have been and found both the usb-c port on the switch and in the dock itself to not be compliant with usb-c standards and this ended up causing the system to have a voltage issue when waking up which made the switch fry itself. If this information is accurate then it is not the fault of 3rd party manufacturers but nintendo themselves.
if the neck holder did not look stupid it would be decent for using the joycon grip and playing splatoon 2 (I find playing with the entire switch hard)
Just don't buy anything Nyko I bought a case for my switch and it said it would fit in the dock and it didn't also the joycon cases would not come off and well Nyko is terrible
I have the neck holder thing an I love mine! I can't play the switch in hand held mode very long cause it's uncomfortable on my hands. I actually use my neck holder while I lay down. I like being able to have my joycons anywhere I feel Comfortable. Also it doubles as a stand if you don't want it around your neck.
On the other hand with that dock (which I would _never ever buy_ ), the fact that they can afford to repair or replace every switch that gets bricked means that it happens so rarely that they offset the cost by much more than enough through sales
Once again, I don't recommend buying it and won't buy it myself, but that is an interesting piece of information to consider if you fancy yourself a gambler
You don't need the hori headset. All you need to do, is set your phone next to you, maybe plug some headphones into that and then just have speaker audio or another set of headphones
On the Nyko dock: seriously small percentage... maybe they just wanted to quiet the voices. I have one, never had a problem with it. Think about it as the same phenomenon as the people scared the official dock will scratch their Switch. It was a very small percentage of the people who bought one, yet you still mention it one year later
4:30 it would more moving left and slightly UP not down. Plus I dont that would be too much of a problem. Think about what happen you just use the joy con. Theyre not exact attached to each other by themselves and a lot of people may hold them at different angles depending how they are sitting down
The nyko one provides a crap charger that's why it's frying the fuse of the switch which allows charge and protects the innards from a being damaged The nyko dock works fine check out spawn wave channel as he's using it for a while also spawn wave tested the overheating threshohold of the switch and it's about 67 degrees Just don't knock the switch while it's in that dock as it would damage the charging port But that nyko dock is fine and dandy Throw away the bundled charger and only buy Nintendo made ones as stated by most RUclipsrs when using a second party dock Nyko needs to step it up
With my Switch I play it on portable mode only. I still have yet to use the dock that came with. And I had gotten my Switch as a Christmas present. So the only charger I need is the one that came with the system. As well as the purple case that I have gotten for it.
the hori reverse splitter... thing.... is really nice in my eyes, or ears, since i pretty much never play docked, and it also works really well on the 3ds. i use it while playing downstairs with people around and while chatting with someone. fuck that painful headset tho
Tbh the only reason i bought the splatoon headset was for the audio mixer. The headphones are trash but the mixer is great for the price especially how small and compact it is compared to others that are big and highly priced
Generally unfounded? Wrong. The official dock definitely gives the Switch hairline scratches. I have been so careful and gentle with mine, yet it has still picked up a few.
Got one but that's irrelevant. My point is that the dock causes scratches - which it most definitely does. Fortunately mine is 'screen protected' so the scratches haven't affected my actual screen, but others haven't been so lucky. I've had to warn every friend who has bought a Switch to buy a screen protector with it and put it on before they use it.
I actually bought the HORI headset, and I hate it. The headphones are cool, but the audio combiner thingy doesn't work. I can't replace it either, as I bought it in the US, but I live in Italy, and the product isn't even available here. I don't even know if I can send it back to America and if I could it would cost me a shitload of money. Thanks, Nintendo.
I don't see the problem with using a Y for your audio. Having myself played competitive with a team, having the voice chat and game's audio in the same device is crucial. Tho personally I use a different, more complex setup, but for common players a Y is a pretty good thing.
Also, is it so bad to have wires all across the room? Wired controllers were a common thing, and is still a thing today (i.e. Gamecube controller for Smash Bros).
Please bear in mind that these might be useful for people with physical disabilities, however silly they may seem.
His Popeyness shut up nerd

Hey, don't hate on the Hori headset. That's how you're meant to enjoy the genuine Nintendo online experience!
Mario Adventure 2 dude he made all of this he cant be perfect

He made SOOPA MARIO BRODDAS 2

Harry Fearns...GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION!!
The accordion: It would go diagonal up.
Also, you can calibrate the control sticks in the settings so it would work tilted!
For real? That's actually pretty dang cool.
I will be getting them.all thank you very much

My dock doesn't scratch the screen, it scratches the back. It's ruining the logo!
George Marionerd
Same, but on the sides. How is it scratching the logo? The bumpers inside don't even touch that area.
>calls someone stupid
>cant use the right then or your
How can you dock it wrong?
George Marionerd same
George Marionerd your putting it in the dock the wrong way
Lol That dust cover! (I throw a pair off dirty "undies" over mine)
The best solutions are often the least hygenic.
Nintendo Life Lol exactly
I didn't know all you needed was 3 noodles to make spaghetti.
The Nyko metal kickstand, completely breaks the hinges and now my switch can’t hold either kickstand without popping out. And people thought the regular kickstand was bad...

nicholas smith just hold it like a handheld
I just want Joy-Cons that are basically a Pro Controller cut in half and slides into the sides of the Switch like the Joy-Cons. I want a comfortable grip for portable mode.
Trevor Grover check out the Skull & Co grip for the Switch. Made my life a lot easier
I got something called colour grip and it kinda has a grip on the back
I'd be fine even if these Joy-Cons weren't able to be connected to the Switch. As far as the Joy-Cons have comfy grip, a D-Pad and gyro/accel/(HD) Rumble, I'm fine af
All you need is a Pro Controller and a chainsaw.
So wait can you connect those accordion bits to themselves and stack them?
I'll take 20
Thinking about it, I don't see why you couldn't. And that's a hilarious thought.
With the accordion, pushing left relative to you would make your character go left and slightly up, not down.
Wild Card underrated comment.
The hori audio combiner thingy-ma-boob is actually really useful. No more do I have to wear 2 sets of headphones when streaming in order to hear both the game & alerts.
Buy a mixer. You won't be sorry ;)
Where can I buy those pictures you have on the wall behind you? 😍
I was wondering the same thing
I wanna know as well!
They are all on nintendopix.com
dis is ma username that doesn't exist
I’ve asked this several times with no response 😢
Helix looking like he’s staring at your hair to steal your looks
This thing can brick your Switch. No!!! I don’t want my Switch to become a brick!!!
This is what happens when Nintendo innovate with new concepts and systems. They make people do creative things around their creations. This happens every time when Nintendo release something new. It's fascinating how much influence Nintendo is able to give to people.
Just cover your Switch with a paper towel when it's not in use. That's what I did, and to my surprise there's no dust. Whoa!
I think it'd be cool if the Switch had a Handy Boy like accessory. Sure it'd probably be impractical, but it'd be cool as long as it has a reasonable price and maybe it could turn out great.
I liked the laziest holder.
Plz do a second one. This was very good. Also, just subscribed! Enjoy your new subscriber!
I was actually thinking about getting the neck band thing and seeing if I could get it to where it's upright to my face, but not too close. I want to play Doom in full motion control but standing and turning my body to shoot. Should be interesting. It may not be stupid after all.
TheSuperSanchez holy shit I've been trying to think of a way to do that. Motion controls on doom feels like a mouse.
I was thinking of some sort of headset like for VR that you dock the switch and pay full 360
David Alvarado yes that is ideal. But only one guy I know made such a kit, but it doesn't have neck and should support. So he uses it while laying down on his back.
ruclips.net/video/2AvxaJe31yQ/видео.html
TheSuperSanchez have you seen the avegant glyph headset? Seems to cover what is needed.
David Alvarado they are on sale right now....if I get paid today I might get one.....
I have a dust cover myself, so I definitely wouldn't say it's the worst accessory -- especially if it being the worst comes down to "leaving it on while you play". It's great to have if you want to keep the dust off your Switch when you're not using it. A genuinely good idea.
The least favorite I own is the Joy-Con gel pads. I bought them for the thumbstick gel pads, which are great!
What’s the third one called? I’d like to try it at least, as rotating them would be cool. A grip for rotating them in single controller form would be cool too.
number 5 rolled around and I thought "hey, I've heard of a few of those. I've heard that some of them are really useful. I don't see the problem"

Chrona Trigger And Spawnwave had made a good explanation that it might be the AC adapter they give you that bricks the system. I personally haven't bought nyko dock myself but there are more better third party docks that are better than nyko's recently.
Chrona Trigger you should watch Spawn Wave's video!
I would like to know where you got that wall mount thingy!
Don't take too long metroid prime 4... and please be good. Man is the phenrena drifts theme so memorable, like peaceful, futuristic rap music with no rap. OH WAIT A SECOND...

So that way I can watch youtube or whatever while playing Switch on my second monitor and get audio from both with easy sound balancing.
Neither of the devices I am using are bluetooth compatible.
That and 1 extra wire really isn't much.
I don't have a Switch, but if I did, I would use my mixer for this. Going through the PC introduces some latency :P
You would actually NEED this Hori thing though because you wouldn't be able to hook up a microphone to your phone through a mixer or a PC. Where did you get that switch mount?????
Wow, I didn't know about the hori headset, it looks awesome, how else would you play with headphones and vc online?
I legit need that Mario Odyssey poster that's behind him right now
Where can I find one
I actually really love that Splatoon 2 headset wire. The headset itself is kinda ehh, but I've gotten *so* much use out of the squid shaped wire thing! I love being able to listen to podcasts and GameXplain discussions while playing a game with headphones.

Its glaringly obvious that some of these Switch accessory manufacturers, don't test their products before releasing them.
Where can I get those posters in the background?
Where did you get those awesome canvases behind you? They are absolutely awesome.
Harry Fearns nintendopix.com apparently
What kind of SmartBand that you wear, alex?
The neck holder thing may be good, I was hoping Alex would've actually had it and tried it hands on
I think that over-the-neck holder would work for me since I don't have any good place to play my Switch undocked with the Joycons detached. I would like to find if there are "wings" for the Joycons *even when they're detached* because the Joycons on their own can give my standard-sized man-hands gamer's thumb, including my left hand, which rarely gets it.
that neck hanging thing would be good with a phone where you could just sit and watch, but with the switch you have to hold the controller either way
The issue with the Nyko dock is the way you have to put the Switch into it.
The dust cover looks like a mail box
"dom's accordion" actually looks cool, but probably is ultimately useless
You can't even press the power button with the dust cover on, you have to take it off to use it.
I have only used the Switch as a handheld during the NFL draft, everything else is on my 4K upgrade.
I like how he's judging the items he didn't buy.
Also I second that. Where can I get that art hanging on the wall behind you my man. Inquiring minds want to know!
The one in your thumbnail I might actually get. Seems cool for splatoon
5:00 connect your device to a pair of Bluetooth headphones and at the same time connect to the switch using headphone extenders
if the neck holder did not look stupid it would be decent for using the joycon grip and playing splatoon 2 (I find playing with the entire switch hard)
I'm really hoping for a full bluetooth software update so you don't have to use that horrendous Hori headphone adapter thing.
The dock scratched my Switch screen protector
John Hall at least it’s not your screen
You must have a plastic one
That means it's working lol
Just don't buy anything Nyko I bought a case for my switch and it said it would fit in the dock and it didn't also the joycon cases would not come off and well Nyko is terrible
The first one hurts my neck just looking at it
Your hands are pretty perfect to play the piano with.
Almost a year that the switch was released
I live in The Netherlands and I'm searching for Switch Accesories, but I never saw the 3rd accesory.....
I really want to have them
I have the neck holder thing an I love mine! I can't play the switch in hand held mode very long cause it's uncomfortable on my hands. I actually use my neck holder while I lay down. I like being able to have my joycons anywhere I feel Comfortable. Also it doubles as a stand if you don't want it around your neck.
Love ur vids! Keep it up! XD
Left would actually be "left and slightly up". To the right it would go "slightly down" LOL
The worst accessory is the dock itself. It should have just been a cable.
I need a chat headset solution, so I might try that Splatoon one still
You don't need the hori headset. All you need to do, is set your phone next to you, maybe plug some headphones into that and then just have speaker audio or another set of headphones
When Nintendo makes a video on the worst add-ons for their own product xD
I personally haven't experienced any problems with the nyko doc
On the Nyko dock: seriously small percentage... maybe they just wanted to quiet the voices. I have one, never had a problem with it. Think about it as the same phenomenon as the people scared the official dock will scratch their Switch. It was a very small percentage of the people who bought one, yet you still mention it one year later
I just avoid 3rd party stuff in general, ever since I bought one during the GCN days. I bought a GCN controller, it stopped working one day later. lol
Alex is a duke of smarm.
You will be going left and up when you turn it left relatively to you, not down.
1:08 i died lol
I have an idea foot controllers who needs hands to play switch
Dan Doom could be somthing for special needs people who cant use their hands for some reason or dont have any
4:30 it would more moving left and slightly UP not down.
Plus I dont that would be too much of a problem. Think about what happen you just use the joy con. Theyre not exact attached to each other by themselves and a lot of people may hold them at different angles depending how they are sitting down
Waiting for an inflatable horse saddle accessory. :(
The nyko one provides a crap charger that's why it's frying the fuse of the switch which allows charge and protects the innards from a being damaged
The nyko dock works fine check out spawn wave channel as he's using it for a while also spawn wave tested the overheating threshohold of the switch and it's about 67 degrees
Just don't knock the switch while it's in that dock as it would damage the charging port
But that nyko dock is fine and dandy
Throw away the bundled charger and only buy Nintendo made ones as stated by most RUclipsrs when using a second party dock
Nyko needs to step it up
Come on, where’s the spiritual successor to the greatest accessory, the Roll n Rocker?
With my Switch I play it on portable mode only. I still have yet to use the dock that came with. And I had gotten my Switch as a Christmas present. So the only charger I need is the one that came with the system. As well as the purple case that I have gotten for it.
my phone once got over heated because i live in a really hot country
5:50 Chat is through the phone.
If it wasn't for the phone, THEN you would have to have a long cable from switch to headphones.
I like that new outro.
I use the lazy phone holder and it is amazing
the hori reverse splitter... thing.... is really nice in my eyes, or ears, since i pretty much never play docked, and it also works really well on the 3ds. i use it while playing downstairs with people around and while chatting with someone. fuck that painful headset tho
Narc85 You need to buy a tempered glass screen protector.
Glad you didn't buy all of these. Some people do and massively regret it.
5:50 iPhones don't have headphone jacks anymore.
I know people wish Nintendo gave us traditional voice chat for Switch, but considering how toxic people on voice chat are to begin with, fuck it.
As a dutchguy I am disappointed that our country has made these things😂
Next up, The Roll n rocker on the nintendo switch
they gave away the lazy neck thing at my school but one that was 100 time cheaper
