so now my question is: where do you wire the idnet device to the 4010?

It would be through the main SLC loop on the panel. Its the terminal block on the top far right corner.

So through terminals 1 and 2 then?

My 13 year old grandson just got a 4010. So far we've learned to do a manual evacuation with an alarm attached. The panel will not allow a quick config. Can you tell me how to overcome this? Thanks

An IDNET Card is what drives the addressable SLC loop of the panel.
