consider that simplex is proprietary and if you need service, only simplex people can work on it. We are changing all of our systems to another manufacture so we can make our own changes and not have to pay 200 dollars an hour for a tech.

For example, if there is a trouble or an alarm in the panel, a person with authority and has gone through this training, will be the first responder. There should be a primary telephone line near the FACP that will ring. Or whatever primary emergency phone line is on record. The first thing people should do when a fire alarm goes off is to evacuate the building following company procedures.
My friend's university has quite a few Simplex 4100ES systems around the campus. There are also some 4100, 4100U and 4020 systems, along with a 4120, a 4010 and even a 4002 (I think) in the mix.

Piggy back from another device, add a module and a module number to the new device, run the wire back to the panel and then added to the programming of the panel. You should be able to add or delete modules in this panel.
Call for service. Basically the company that inspect and test your fire panel yearly. Sometimes company pays extra for a warranty or service on these panels just in case something happen to the panel or for troubleshooting. If there is no warranty, shop around for service prices.
A zone is used for non-addressable initiating devices like smoke detectors or pull stations or in smoke evac in larger buildings is broken up into zones. Addressable devices give you the exact location of the alarm. A zone only gives you a general location.
We usually dont silence the alarm till we found the problem. Some of the occupants that are outside seem to wanna walk back in once its silenced.

If your landlord won’t deal with it you can request he at least hire a technician to disable the ground fault detection. You cannot do this yourself.

Update: The 4002 was replaced a few years back with a Simplex 4007ES, and they also replaced two of the 4100 systems with 4100ES systems as well.

just push button alarm..then see at screen shows location fire..
