Recently I bought the same cassettedeck. Belts have to be replaced. Also it has the exact same problem, no Left channel and Right channel is oke in PB and REC mode. Can't find what causes the problem. Cleaned many switches and elco's replaced in amplifier section. I have a full wired diagram of the TC-K5. Update April 13th. Received a TC-K4A. Fixed standard issues. Working fine now. Hope within one week to get a TC-K2A too. Greetings from Amsterdam.

Hi! You must have checked the head, according to the service manual, but if you are not sure that it is good, then I recommend replacing the wires on the left and right sides on the motherboard. This way you can completely rule out the error of the head. I showed in the video that a lot of faulty transistors had to be replaced. Check that the power supply to the faulty side is OK. Eg fuse R178. The service description shows quite well what the voltage should be on the transistors. Measure these if you still can't find the fault. Also, I counted maybe 5 diodes on the affected part, these should also be checked. I recommend that you solder out one of its legs and measure it that way. I'm sure it will work, good luck with your work.

Thx for the advices. I will work on it. Visual problem is no VU on left side in PB, Line in and Mic mode. Noticed a lot of different voltage (DC) between L and R channel (Filter Amp, EQ Amp and Line Amp. Thought L channel was in muting mode or Power problem 21V / 17V on L channel (non flammable resistor) I will search further. Thank you. Bye. Marck.

Problem solved. I was working on the Audio Mute section (L) Q107/108/109 and (R) Q207/208/209. I wanted to begin switching Q107 (2SC1345) and Q207 (2SC1345) but made a mistake and used Q209 (2SC945). But problem was suddenly gone. Testes many hours and still oke. So. Q107/108 and Q109 are all 2SC945 (?) and Q207 /209 are 2SC1345 and Q208 is a 2SC945. Very strange. The 2SC945 are not mentiond in Servicemanual (partlist and wired diagram).@@retrodeck1956 Think i order the 2SC945 at Amazon.

If you set it to record and turn it off but the recording does not stop, there may be some mechanical problem. Or when the switch row is tight.

Just by looking at the screw alongside of the Head of the taped deck I see somebody's already messed with the asmith And the factory setting is been moved you're going to have to reset it to original specs Obviously the frequency response is going to be different from the factory specs than what it is right now Somebody I didn't know what they were doing was playing with the head And they screwed it up

Hi. You might be right. Unfortunately, I don't remember it anymore, but when I have time I'll watch that twist because I'm curious too.
