If your luck is anything like mine, the spring and washer will still be hiding inside the transport or deck waiting to just mock you the next time you decide to get into it. Otherwise, I have a similar carpeting scenario and one of my hobbies is creating new swear words while looking for tiny tape deck parts.

Good that you are learning from your mistakes. I am happy for you, I went through the same puberty period with electric shocks, frustrations and alot of swearing. Try changing the belts on a
SONY TC-K909ES. That''s fun. Great video. Keep it up.

I'm not sure why I find it so entertaining watching you learn all the lessons I've already learned over the years.

You could potentially lightly sand the idler to make it grippy (sorry for this advice being 3 months late)

@@Uhhhhtheuhhhhmewhentheuhh I actually tried that before I found one on fixyouraudio.com. Given that I eventually found the part, then messed it up a different way, and the video was already pretty long, I decided not to include that in the final video.

Although i do love cassette decks . cassettes and in general analog tapes yet again the thing with the vintage cassette decks is going bad very bad twice i bought cassette decks from ebay supposelly in fully working condition yet both had problems .
Ok these are over 30 + years old things with a lot of moving parts where they can easilly break .
I'm 56 years old and i do remember them brand new back then beautiful high sound quality machines but most of them unreliable even for back then , you can imagine now so many years later .
But I Do Love them .
