+Matthew Waugh Especail the Ps1 has a special Graphical charm its diffrent from the N64, the Terrain and the polygons in Ps1 "wobble" around which you cant see in the N64 because it was a more powerfull machine.
Not so much that it was more powerful, it just lacked the ability to perform the floating point math. The wobble comes from the Ps1 "snapping" the verteices to a rounded number instead of a .1 .2 .3 etc... It's something that the Sega Saturn and some early 3D arcade cabinents do as well. The N64 was the first home console with 3D to avoid it.

Great review! A couple of things though. Did you consider turning on the crosshair in the options? That way, the whole stopping to shoot thing from the first game is eliminated. Also, control option 4 is dual analog as we use today. I like to consider Medal of Honor to be the first FPS to use dual analog absolutely right. :)
+elbryan42 I didn't know that was an option to be honest, but I do enjoy the reticle system. It was pretty common in shooting games on consoles, so it's not a big deal.
@@Gggmanlives If I remember correctly, the first FPS with a female protagonist was "No One Lives Forever".. and lather this one... maybe because they saw that NOLF had a good reception... excellent video as always "Saludos Jaime Asoleado" :-)
Of all the PS1 era shooters, this is the one I'd love them to remaster the most. Maybe do MOH with it and release it as a special edition, they'd make big sales off that.
I love this game. Music is amazing. It still defends the fact that shooter doesn't need dubstep (etc.) as music to be fitting in fps game. I loved female character. Setting as a rebellion is neat concept. I want a remake so bad... Those later levels with bizarre enemies were sweet bonus. I will propably forever remember this game... PS. Such nostalgia from this game. The weapon animations are just fantastic (the sten a personal fav) at that time most games just had the gun dip off screen to reload, in fact I think the pistols still do in this too.
I've played many shooters across many platforms since the late 90's. Last holiday season I played through medal of honor 1 and underground back to back and while the first game is still fun, underground has the extra punch to make it stand up to any modern shooter. Also, even with 15 years of experience under my belt, this is one of the hardest games I've played. The later missions on the highest difficulty setting are quite challenging, much harder than the first game.
It's hard getting into this game now. It's laggier than the original, and the bullets randomly go sideways. The original had that issue too but not nearly this severe. It was usually smg rounds going a bit above your aim and could be chalked up to high recoil. Now the original MOH I could play forever. Love that game.
Going through a PS1 retro phase at the moment and tucked into this over the weekend. Great game to revisit and play. The variety of the mission locations in the game were incredible. My favorite overall mission is Desert Fox, but individual level would be descending the mountain after you leave Wewelsburg castle.

I played this a bunch during my PS1 days - in fact I still own it! Really great game, and it has a ton of wacky cheats as the early MoH games were known for. Also, be sure to unlock the bonus missions where you can play as Jimmy from the first game up against a bunch of bizarre enemies in a German castle - zombies, mutant guard dogs, nazi knights, and even robots!
Great review. One thing I never liked in these earlier console shooters like Goldeneye was that once you died in a level you'd have to restart from the beginning. It's quite annoying though I understand that it has to do with the limitations of the consoles more than anything but it's a gripe I'll always have.
I find it funny how not one person of the few reviewers I follow can stop themselves from dropping that jab against SJWs every once in a while. Shows what their popular support really is like.
Good review, but will you be doing Perfect Dark? As there is an emulator that makes the game that makes the game run smoothly along with a texture pack that fixes all the graphic errors.

I don't know what Dreamworks Interactive was smoking to elaborate on the last chapter of this game. Don't get me wrong, it was memorable, also, one the most difficult chapters in the game.
I spent this morning playing Blade of Agony, the level where it's snowing and you need to get to the train station, guess which game the stole they music from...
I loved the way you made fun of the social justice warriors lol. This game is still one of the best in my opinion. They should update the graphics engine and re-release it with new missions and multiplayer!
Man the music! This was definitely the first FPS I ever played, probably my first ever game. Still remember the cheat "Rendezvous Porteclefs" but forgot what it does
Hey gggman, I have some suggestions if interested. Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter, Pariah, and Darkwatch seem to be forgotten shooters that sort of flopped during the glut of console FPS games during Xbox/PS2 era (excluding Turok). I never played them, but each one seemed to have a cool concept or game play feature, but never really took off. Also Turok (2008) is another.
Eh, Pariah was kind of mediocre back then so it's understandable why it was pretty much ignored. I'd probably play it again sometime though - for some reason I remember laughing a lot at how ridiculous the end of the game was.
+gilgamesh310 I disagree. I thought it felt out of place. These are his videos though, so I can't really tell him to stop. Besides, he's once of the most honest reviewers around so even if there's one or two things he says that I don't like, his opinions on games are very well articulated.
The soundtrack in this game is far superior than that of the first game. The difficulty level is harder, the shooting is more fun, and there's more variety in terms of locations and objectives. You've probably already been asked, but I'm new to yr channel (love that you're looking at all these old games, I had a blast with some of these titles you've reviewed as a younger man). You ever thought about playing the Killzone games? I've always been kinda keen to give them a go, even if I haven't heard too many great things about the later games, and the setting/lore seems kind of interesting. Just got a copy of the first one from EBay for like $6, so I'm gonna get stuck into it.
Great Review and nice jab at the SJWs. However, you mentioned how the manual aiming is all screwed up, I enabled "Easy Aiming" and "Zoom Aiming" in options and that seems to clear a lot of that up. With this you can move the crosshair on the screen in any direction you like and it's pretty accurate. However if you haven't been doing it since you were 6 (since I wasn't sure what those meant in the Options at the time and just enabled them for the heck of it) then it will take some getting used to but once you do it's pretty sweet!!
I played MOHU since I was a very little kid and not only I didnt understand the different settings in the menu, I also didnt understand the language ( I am not english ) and what was I supposed to do xD Me, my brother and my dad had to mainly guess what do the objectives meant. It was great game that I will never forget, great memories. I also got used to the aiming system and thought It was very intuitive and simple. Idk, I was surprised to find out not any other game used it since.
Loved this game when I was a kid; great review! Your jabs at SJW's are good, but the butthurt comments from leftists are even better! Just for that you got yourself my immediate like and sub!
Hey man, would you consider doing a review of Codename: Eagle (1999)? It's old, has kinda clunky controls, but I think it's an underrated classic (in addition to its creators, Refraction Games, being some of the devs on BF 1942).
That must be most MoH games down now. Looking forward to your review of MoH Airborne at some point. I hold the somewhat unpopular opinion that it's the best game in the series.
+baxopoka98 Yeah, i'd suggest MoH:Airborne. It got a lot of flak when it was out that sure as hell wasnt the fault of the game itself but of market oversaturated with WWII games.
Oh boy, I loved this game and it's predecessor back then and I still do. Fired them up couple of years ago via emulator and still enjoyed them thoroughly. The only real bone to pick for me is the inexplicable inacurracy of the crosshair. Oh and I have to say that I looove the soundtracks. I was convinced they were composed by Williams before I looked Giacchino up on the internet.
I miss this style of shooter so much. EA put out so many between MOH and their Bond games. While MOH1 felt a little more tactical at parts given the weaponry and ammo count Underground goes a lot more actiony so whichever you want more you got a few options
I grew up playing Medal of Honor, Underground, Frontline, and Rising Sun (The latter of which I really didn't like.) and I still friggen adore the music.
Great video, as always. Shame i cannot find 64bit drivers for my cheap-ass gamepad to play the game now, and completing it with just keyboard like MoH1... i just can't do it again, no sir.
Would be fun now for you to review Mission Impossible: Operation Surma. I know it's a sub-par Splinter Cell game but it's kinda well hidden from the gaming "scene" in the PS2 era.
I have to say. There's a certain charm to the more poligonal environments of yester year.
+Matthew Waugh Especail the Ps1 has a special Graphical charm its diffrent from the N64, the Terrain and the polygons in Ps1 "wobble" around which you cant see in the N64 because it was a more powerfull machine.

@@CommanderSuberoxsame here. The 3 I visit most are medal of honor, tomb raider and dino crisis.
My favorite part about this game was when you would throw a grenade at the enemy, they would try to pick them up to them to throw them back.
And if you threw a nade at more than two enemies one of them would jump over the grenade to minimize the explosion and cover the other two!
And if you're really lucky, sometimes they catch it in midair and throw it right back at you. Yes, really.
I think i remember when you throw a grenade to a dog, they would pick it up and bring it to you

I've always been kinda keen to give them a go, even if I haven't heard too many great things about the later games, and the setting/lore seems kind of interesting. Just got a copy of the first one from EBay for like $6, so I'm gonna get stuck into it.
You've just won my sub! Thanks for great vid about a game I had loved and had forgot about:)
+MrVibeless Thanks for subbing!
I think "The World is Not Enough" for PSX or N64 or both would be a fun throwback.
Hey man, would you consider doing a review of Codename: Eagle (1999)? It's old, has kinda clunky controls, but I think it's an underrated classic (in addition to its creators, Refraction Games, being some of the devs on BF 1942).
+Nick Jaqua Mate I'll review anything if I have a copy of it.
I wish they still made WW2 shooters today. I just hate the modern combat trend that has taken over the whole fps genre.
Oh man I remember this game, when we played splitscreen you could only see like 3 meters infront of you.
Pavel Skrylnikov Funnily enough it was one of the only WW2 shooters to try something new. The level design was great.
Steven Lornie But to be fair by the mid-2000s the Normandy 1944 thing was getting a bit old.
+Tafferwocky I wouldn't call it the best in the series, but it's a damn solid game. I used to play the shit out of it when I was younger.
Jak Mar I like it just because it's the least linear in the series and hence stands out more these days when compared with MoHAA and the others :)
The MOH games for the ps1 were some of my favorite games at the time, especially underground.
I was convinced they were composed by Williams before I looked Giacchino up on the internet.
really love your reviews man when you can you should review moh airborne
I miss this style of shooter so much. EA put out so many between MOH and their Bond games. While MOH1 felt a little more tactical at parts given the weaponry and ammo count Underground goes a lot more actiony so whichever you want more you got a few options
Gggmanlives what do you think about Nosferatu The Wrath of Malachi and Commandos Strike Force?
+1 1 Haven't played either.
+Gggmanlives None of them were excelent to be honest I was just curious about what you would say about them
I grew up playing Medal of Honor, Underground, Frontline, and Rising Sun (The latter of which I really didn't like.) and I still friggen adore the music.
Me too! I enjoyed rising Sun but not as much as the other three. Frontline is my fave, Underground second.
hey are you going to do medal of honor airborne?
Hey, man, will you ever do a review of "The Talos Principle"? Made by the same guys, who did Serious Sam, which is very surprising.
+Ken Catus I bought it in the Steam sale last year, just haven't gotten around t it.
You really need to do the brothers in arms series. Your reviews rock
this game was one my favs back in the day
Gggmanlives indeed
Great video, as always. Shame i cannot find 64bit drivers for my cheap-ass gamepad to play the game now, and completing it with just keyboard like MoH1... i just can't do it again, no sir.
Will we get a review of Medal of Honor Airborne later? Would be nice.
+MacNille Yes.
Please do Perfect Dark on the N64.
Would be fun now for you to review Mission Impossible: Operation Surma. I know it's a sub-par Splinter Cell game but it's kinda well hidden from the gaming "scene" in the PS2 era.
