One of the seeds of mistrust and the cold war right there. I don't know, I'm probably alone in finding this stuff fascinating, but there you go.
You can actually remove the scopes from the guns like the stg44, but I don’t think you can do that for the bolt-action rifles Also, that “death tower” is actually a real thing built by the Nazis and you can actually visit many of these to this day, so it isn’t that big of an issue considering they existed in real life Aside from that, great review as always,
To add that, these towers were multi-purpose towers (hospital, barracks etc.) but they mainly served as anti-air towers as the war progressed into the core German lands. Day of Infamy has such a map.
also want to add if I remember correctly that is you squeeze the fire button slowly instead of firing right away it increases accuracy when aiming down sights. (on console anyway)
The *SS storm elite* soldiers really bugged me in a historical and realistic sense. How is a Allgemeine-SS guard who walks around hip firing an MG-42 more elite and better than the Waffen-SS troops?
piergiorgio caroli it’s really not though. They were some of the worst soldiers in the war compared to other axis powers. Makes sense they’re the worst in the game.
@@rnrailproductions5049 History and realism my butt, I would rather have hip firing MG-42 SS elite than, another "generic Call of Duty enemy with different uniform but acts the same as all other enemies".
“Who does the army trust the most?” “Airborne” “Who do the ladies love the most?” “Airborne!” “Who do the Nazi’s fear the most?!” “AIRBORNE!” “YEEAAAHH!”
everytime i hear that line in the game i'm like "Say that to the poor SOB's who drowned to death on D-Day, shot at, or there plane got shot down and couldn't bail before it turned into a giant inferno or like in the 2 missions Varsity and Der Flakturm (The Flak Tower in English)" but it's just a game but that's what i'm mostly like when i hear that line.
Jumping out into Operation Market Garden while “Arnhem” played as I floated down to the battlefield will always be a super sweet memory of my childhood.
Seconded. One of the most memorable missions in the game. "Who does the army trust the most!? Airborne! Who do the ladies love the most!? Airborne! Who do the Nazis fear the most!? Airborne!"
9:10 those towers actually existed , i think they were 7 and were used as anti air defense They were kinda not usefull for Germany in the war, the enemies went around them and at the end.. they could have spent those resources better its called "Flak Towers" in Vienna, Austria
REA987 from all those resources they made those towers they could make many more shelters in many more cities Again *non-efficient resource management*
@@justsometimber1nthelake873 That's another argument entirely. That more efficient/useful solutions existed does not mean that the chosen solution was not useful
I really enjoyed Airborne, to the point I'd say it's the best MoH game second only to Allied Assault. Only issue is as they've gone for a "land anywhere" approach, it stops them from really doing any scripted events as fluidly and more of a reverse horde mode. But while I'm here, are you planning on looking at Hour of Victory, Midway's infamously bad WWII FPS? That and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty are those "so bad it's good" games.
Sweet your here too! Honesty my favorite MOH game so far was MOH Underground where they greatly improved many things from the first game, even overhauling the enemy AI that they can actually grab your Molotov Cocktail in mid air and toss them back at you.
Turning Point had a cool idea but lacked the budget and talent to make it great. Same with Legendary, also an FPS done by Spark. At least the alternate history WW2 scenario was realized with Wolfenstein The New Order and The Old Blood. Then New Colossus killed the franchise...
im stuck between airborne and vanguard being my favorites, i have a lot of nostalgia playing vangurad on my wii back in the day and same with airborne so its a fair fight.
This multiplayer (back when the community was active of course) was some of the best I’ve played in a world war 2 shooter, the parachute mechanic lends itself greatly to respawns in multiplayer and prevented you from feeling trapped at spawn or like your only objective was to try and trap the enemy in theres, and almost all of the maps looked absolutely beautiful if I remember right, especially some of the lonely country sides and French towns
@@Josep_Hernandez_Lujan Trying to compete with CoD was the dumbest thing to do. At least 2010's SP campaign was great, but the MP is stripped down from BC2 (DICE Stockholm did work teh MP after all) with new gamemodes added in. Warfighter on the other hand had a meh SPC but a bang on MP
Yeah, while I liked the 2010 game when it came out, after playing Airborne, it made me wish the devs stuck with the formula they established in European Assault and evolved it, the game could've been something special. But EA being EA, they had to follow trends, even though they're completely tone-deaf and always miss the mark on what made those trends work in the first place. It's always at the expense of the games and the developers, with the execs behind the stupid decisions getting away Scot free. Hence why we ended up with the reboot being the MW2 clone that it is.
@@DinosaurFan88 heck its even before the 2010 game that MOH has already fallen from its roots. From what I remember before trying to be COD, Medal of Honor was its own thing basically it was kinda like 007 set in WW2. instead of taking part of huge battles beside a key events IE: Normandy and Market Garden. You were going behind the front line playing as a secret agent doing things from blowing up a secret Nazi bunkers, assassinating Nazi General gathering intelligent as a spy in disguise while stealthy making your way through by showing appropriate ID either stealing or killing the officer that's holding it. all that fun stuff behind the scene. Now after Allied Assault its trying so hard to be Call of Duty with its bombastic battles and shit, and no more secret missions.
@Tyler Assady, correct me if I'm wrong, but the single player for both MOH 2010 and Warfighter was made by Danger Close while Dice handled the multiplayer? I prefer MOH to be dead. EA would completely destroy a new entry by pushing hard greed crap like microtransactions or loot boxes. And likely rewrite history and openly disrespect the people who fought in the war like they did with BFV to push certain politics agendas. No thanks, bro. I'll stick with the old games and hope one day someone makes a spiritual successor thst recaptures the magic. And yes, I know the former devs of MOH Allied Assault went on to make CoD and became Infinity Ward.
EL WAYNO i have it on ps3, it's so complicated but looks good. but being that you cant skip cutscenes, least in ps3 version i would just keep putting it down. i gotta give it another try one day
i will say this, airborne was my favorite medal of honor, hell, i would even put it as my favorite world war 2 shooter! its far from being perfect, but what it has, while short, i found to be extremely fun to play. also, im not a pvp kind of guy, on the contrary, 100% single player here.
Marcos Danilo single player, MoH Airborne, multi, CoD World At War. imo the two best WWII experiences aside from visiting the affected locations. Still, it’s so sad how many people died to bring us the decades of fiction stories about the conflict.
airborne was my second fav to vanguard. used to play vanguard all the time but my disc got scratched really bad last year and i can only find allied assault discs for sale :(
I was just about to comment this, nice to know GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGmanlives has seen this, either that or it's just a really easy joke or something.
@Gggmanlives there are a few mechanics that you seemed to have overlooked (not to detract from the review, which was good). Played through 100% last month, might as well share. 1. You actually can take off the scopes from the rifles like the STG. Not the bolt actions like the Springfield or whatnot, but there is a feature for it that's assigned to a button. 2. You can actually hold your breath by holding down Space (default) when aiming down scoped weapons like the Springfield, and zoom in/out via scroll wheel. Makes a difference in accuracy, so technically, you actually can pick off enemies when you drop in, like in Operation Varsity, to make your life easier early-mission. 3. You can lean *even further* by holding down A or D WITH Q and E. You can also lean forward and backward with S and W to pop out vertically from cover. 4. Your teammates aren't *that* useless. I've seen them killed as much as they've killed some enemy soldiers, although it looks pretty goofy, I'll admit. That's about it for me, lemme know if I missed any other stuff.
I thought the hold-breath sniping mechanic was interesting for the time. On console, having to squeeze the trigger rather than jamming down on it was unique, and you could learn a kind of sweet spot
SUUUPER late to this, but in case anyone was wondering about the sniper scopes - They were designed for controller, where you would slowly squeeze the trigger to steady the scope (shown by the bar on the left when scoped in) this would change the depth of field effect so it was clear instead of blurry.
That game, was one of those my Dad was really addicted to! In the end, he only played on the hardest difficulty and for him, it was really, a breeze watching him mow anyone down with ease on the hardest one.
Those "death towers" were totally real though. I saw a History Channel thing on them. They're called Flak towers and were erected to house enormous anti air guns as a last means of defense against allied bombers. So, for a game focused on airborne ops, it thematically fits very well as the final challenge.
Definitely recommend anyone playing this on PC tweak their FOV via the config files. You can also manually edit your upgrades there. Also, sad to say, this game was built from the ground up to be played with a controller w/ analog triggers and sticks. The entire aiming and shooting system makes no sense on a mouse + keyboard. It's the only FPS I use a controller for. Airborne is definitely flawed, but it's also quite misunderstood. You're meant to replay the levels like an arcade game, hitting all of the secret landing points and attacking the objectives in different orders.
Umm, DICE did not make the _Medal Of Honor_ games. That was Danger Close, who went through two different name changes. Their original name being DreamWorks Interactive and then later EA Los Angeles.
@@okamikatze863 - I just realized I made a mistake. Danger Close switched its name to DICE Los Angeles in 2013 and recieved staff from the original DICE studio. However, it's still wrong to say that DICE was involved in most of the _Medal Of Honor_ games. They only worked on the multiplayer in the 2010 reboot and that's about it.
Definitely one of the best. Him and Worth a Buy are both game reviewers who have never sold out and cannot be bought off for positive reviews. Gggmanlives is probably more detailed and more fps than WAB but they're both my favourites
hey just to let you know that nazi death tower was actually a real thing they had them built in germany and austria but i understand your criticism because it is kind of off with all of the realistic scenario missions
The 'death tower' you describe was a so called 'flak turm,' multiple of these towers existed as part of the German air defense network. These fortresses still exist today as they are way too massive and difficult to demolish. Continued allied bombardments did little to harm these towers. The towers were so solid and well-build some of the last resistance of the Third reich were held up in these things. They had everything from hospitals to living quarters, kitchens to storehouses. Taking them by force was nigh impossible, instead the enemy had to wait until the inhabitants ran out of supplies.
Okay, you're absolutely right that there are things the game doesn't do a very good job communicating to you, but there are actually ways around these issues *You can walk with your sights up by holding the sprint key.* I'm surprised you haven't figured this one out yet after so many playthroughs. This comes from being developed for consoles first and foremost, as do most other things on this list. But because leaning is bound to the left stick on controller, you can actually use this very clever incremental leaning when playing with a controller. It even goes up and down, allowing you to perfectly tuck into corners to minimize exposure. One of my favorite drills in this is to crouch and duck as low as possible when I get startled so I can drop-shot the enemy *You can unequip some scopes by using the "alt fire" key or pressing "melee" while aiming down sights.* I also found some forum users experimenting with preventing upgrades from ever unlocking by modifying config files, but it requires a new game to work *There is a whole feature missing from the mouse and keyboard control scheme causing your sniper rifles to be wildly inaccurate.* You may notice a UI element on the left side of the screen while using some scopes with absolutely no explanation of what it means. This is the trigger pressure indicator, which shows how far you've pulled the trigger before firing a shot, and how accurate it will be because of that. If you pull too quickly, you'll snatch the trigger and the shot will go wide, depending on how close you were to the center of the indicator. The game attempts to teach you the first time you're given a Springfield with the line "Remember, squeeze, don't pull". The only way to use this feature is to play with a controller. With a mouse, it's permanently locked to the open position and will snatch every time. I know you'll call me crazy, but because of this and the incremental leaning, this is the one shooter you have to play with a controller
William Holt. European assault. One of my first video games on the PS2, I'll never forget it! I loved all the medal of honors really, with rising sun, European assault, frontline and airborne being all timeless classics. I also loved medal of honor vanguard
I always liked this game, but even by 2007's standards, it felt like a relic from a bygone era. That was the year we got Modern Warfare. F.E.A.R. had come out two years prior. That was also the same year we got games like BioShock, Uncharted, Crysis, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect. There was no way Airborne was going to be received warmly when it felt like a game that would've followed up Allied Assault, not a game made for then-next-gen consoles. I remember booting it up for the first time and being wowed by the openness of the environments and the gorgeous graphics, but it just didn't play the way you'd expect a next-gen title to play.
I had this game on disc as a part of the MOH anniversary bundle for a long time but it never worked for me. Recently I picked it up on Steam and it seems to actually run alright. One day I will get through it but I absolutely despise redoing long chunks of gameplay over again especially if you lose unlocks etc.
The Giant tower was a real thing my dude. I think they had three of them used and used them as anti air batteries and civilians used them as bomb shelters.
the 'death tower' is what they called a flak tower it's high up to have clear vision and to fuck with bomber height detection (so they where slightly harder to hit) and their only purpose was to somewhat fuck up bombers and fighters although they where the equivelant of covering fire so the luftwaffe could have an easier time mind you they did shoot down loads of planes just that the nazis didn't make them to do that it just turns out that a big bomber moving in a single direction a good chunk in the air isn't as hard to hit as they thought
Damn, I had a similar experience. When I was on the last level, someone stole my 360 with the game inside right out of my apartment. This game is legitimately cursed.
The last mission of this game on the highest difficulty is one of three most frustrating experiences in FPS games I ever had (because of shitty checkpoints), and I remember vividly how I almost smashed my keyboard to pieces playing it. Anyway, this was a decent game, especially weapons upgrades which were so satisfying to get. But sadly it really lacked character and soul (and length), so it's mostly forgotten compared to other WW2 shooters.
8:48 Lol, I will never forget when you first encounter those Nazi Storm Elites, I was like; "Is that guy carrying and firing an MG42 from his hip! No way can someone take that much recoil."
I dont know if this has been stated before but the reason for the snipers being blurry and that weird bar to the left of the sight when you zoom in is a very unique mechanic designed for controllers that i dont think has ever been done outside of this game. it incorporates steady breath so instead of just pulling the trigger or just clicking with a mouse if u ease on the trigger you will see the 2 half circles will get closer together and it will focus on your target. One of my favorite sniping mechanics ever. I encourage you to go back and try it out.
The last good MoH. Damn, I miss this series. In Airborne there is one thing I don't like - upgrading Gewehr means you got damn scope. Thankfully you can take it off from STG44. Even these guys with MG42 didn't bother me. Well, maybe also it was kinda too short. Also this game looks like it was designed to play on hardest difficulty, because it doesn't feel ridiculous like in other games. Also you can walking while aiming through sights. Hold Shift and you will start moving. You can even lean and then hold Shift and you'll walk tilted. Ah, and useless teammates is something I really miss in modern shooters. I really don't like when AI can "beat" the game for me. It's game for player after all, not movie to watch. And about that lack of memorable characters... or just any characters. That's just classic shooter design. You vs bad guys, that it. Now it sounds bad, boring, whatever, but after the years I remember every level from every MoH game I played (except Pacific Assault, this one is pure garbage) rather than story or people. This is just action shooter. Go from A to B killing and destroying things on your way.
@@robert357900 How could you find that boring? It ha d a good narrative, cool weapons, level design was great. Better than many CODs. Also what do you have against Pacific Assault?
So what it has good narrative (where story for me was meh)? This is shooter. Gameplay - this what the matter after all. In MoH 2010 it feels like point and click (just like any CoD game). In older games from series enemies were mobile. They jumping around, moving behind cover etc. Here it just, like CoD... Boring. It might have better sound effects, models than CoD, but it still feels like CoD. Speaking of MoH:PA, watch review on this channel. This should explain why I don't like it. From me I'll add that PA tried to be more tactical but same AI and shooting mechanics from Allied Assault make it just frustraiting to play. So it isn't tactical shooter neither action shooter.
Shut up dude, all Medal of Honor games have their own beauty, MOH 2010 was actually really decent, good soundtrack, storyline, and what makes it stand out from COD games, is that it was historically accurate, based on real operations in Afghanistan
I will say, love the review, but the Flak Tower really does feel like it belongs in a MoH game. It’s far more realistic than the underground mustard gas factory in (I think) the original. Airborne is still my favourite Medal of Honor game, by far. Still play it to this day. I remember when I showed it to my friend last year and he greased his first landing during the tutorial and I freaked out because it was my first time seeing a friend grease their opening drop.
As a kid I was fascinated by games like cod1, moh Frontline, rising sun, European assault. As an adult I still love the soundtracks and get flashbacks to my time as a kid enjoying these games. Shame what happened to the franchise nowadays. And yes, many games weren't all that good and I'm more nostalgic than I should be but atleast Frontline and rising sun told an believable and enjoyable story, I had walkthrough books which also explained the real history behind the missions, weapons etc. Fun stuff, you don't get that nowadays. And yeah, the best thing about these games were the menus, just look up the menu of Frontline, I still fucking love it, already immersed just in the mission select screen or option menu, unlike this crap that EA games call a menu nowadays
I remember playing this game back in 2012 and having a great time with it. Something that annoys me to this day is, that you get a Mauser C96 in the last mission and once I onlocked the M712 upgrade (allowing full auto) I was super hyped to play thru the whole game again, using this gun, but NAH! Turns out for some reason you can't use it in any other mission, plus you even lose all the upgrade progress after finishing the one mission you can use it in. C&C Renegade plz :)
Before this video even starts, this is one of my all time favorite underrated gems, and I'm really hoping it's one of yours too. Let go Scopes on Gwehers are irremovable, but you can take the scope off the STG 44. Oh heck yeah, your a Legendary God Hero named Travers and the waffles in helmets on your team love you for it. No story, no long cutscenes, no Gaz chattering, no Price screaming at you to do everything, and no killing the main boss with a single button prompt. It's a quick 3 hour Hack and Slash game disguised as a WW2 shooter. You didnt mention the in mission medals you get like the parachute kick, headshots, the homerun sprinting melee attack, or the coveted 3 & 5-in-a-row's. These are tied to your weapon upgrades and reward you for being aggressive and/or accurate. Also, unlimited sprint! Im telling you, it's the best game they made before they became Teir 1, and after they became Tier 1 too.
Airborne is that game for me when I just want to switch my brain off and have a good time shooting shit and I love every second of it. I find myself going through it a little more often than usual recently, but with current times I suppose that's not surprising. Only wish we got an Airborne 2, that'd be awesome.
I visit the multiplayer once a week and it has around 5-10 players on a server that play for certain hours. Really friendly and tiny community i can say :) Also i think that you can't judge a 13 year old game by today's standards. Ofc many things have changed but for it's time i think it was pretty good for what we had. And who remembers all the npc except from the important ones from cod , just tooo many names xd. Good work thow, nice video
It's funny how the game's finale has the Airborne parachuting right on top of a flak tower, A fortification specifically made to repeal attacks from the air. There's a reason the allies never attempted that in real life, and it's summed up in the moment of that mission when the plane your on is blown to bits. It's so stupid.
Those enemies with gas mask firing panzershreck are great attention to detail. Panzershrecks warheads propelant was still burning for 2meters and would burn the user if he didnt have gloves and gas mask. It was a must equipement
Thanks for covering this. MoH used to be one of my favorite series, especially this and Europan assualt. Videos like this are why i keep coming back to your Channel :)
Hey Gggmanlives! If you ever plan of reviewing Medal of Honor (2010), you should definitly do it for the PS3. There's a limited edition for this console that features an HD version of Medal of Honor Frontline. It would be awesome if you reviewed these two games together! Great review as always!
I enjoyed this game but it should have had regenerating health. Heath packs work best in survival horror or action RPG games. Also in games were you’re not constantly shooting at something like in GTAV.
Brace Land health packs work great with certain genres. With everything happening at once, checking my health bar and looking for health packs was an annoyance and sort of broke the immersion for me. Just an opinion.
It has semi-regen hp. If the whole bar doesn't deplete, it will refill back. Basically, more damage you take at once, the lower your max health pool will be unless you can grab few medkits to refill the bars. I think its an unique and fair mechanic, in between being stuck at low hp in old ww2 games and making further progress extremely tedious, or having fully regenerating health that barely punishes player's dumb decisions.
On xbox if you you're holding left trigger you can actually walk slowly by holding LS. Also the flak towers were real, they just weren't that big in real life. Lastly I found that the other American soldiers were just there to hold the line and make sure that the Germans didn't push back against any progress the player made. They did this very well and I think it was a good gameplay choice.
I had this game for over 10 years and it wasn't until last year that I realized you could press RB (Xbox 360) to remove the scope on the STG44. Amazing game!
With the level enemies there's also different with their uniforms that are related to all most realistic German ranks and uniforms. But with the way the game looks in the colors in the textures of the colors, it's very hard to tell the difference. They almost all look the same unless you're wearing straight up black. Aka the heaviest enemy. And I only know this because I remember seeing Asher video about German uniforms.
The "Nazi Death Towers" as you say, were actually real structures. Not quite as big... but still absolutely massive. There were 4 guarding Berlin toward the end of the war. Also, some good WW2 multiplayer shooters with a big emphasis on realism are Heroes and Generals (free), Post Scriptum ($30), and Hell Let Loose (around $30 I think)
The "death tower" is a real structure. its actually called an Anti air tower which are built in the middle of large dense cities and are meant to protect the city against air raids, of course they are built in different areas but the point of htem are to attack anything in the air however they were meant to act like emergency shelters but the kicker is that they weren't use a whole lot as Ally air raids were always during lunch time with the air raids targets being weapon factories and if you think I am joking about that part on Ally air raids I am not joking, also the towers do serve other purposes but mostly meant to shoot at anything in the air and if you ask me how they became obsolete well having a tall, concrete glooming tower sort of makes them easy to spot which if you send scouts in..............well lets say you do not need to be at hte base to see them, you cna give a good general guess where exactly it is in town
They were Flak Towers, and they were normally paired with a Command Tower that co-ordinated all the guns. It was the Americans who decided to do air raids in the day; the rest of the Allies thought it was a batshit idea. IIRC, one of them has visible damage still from when Red Army engineers tried to level it using demo charges.
I remember two key things from this game. Discount RTCW venom troopers (glad you referenced it too!) and really decent ragdoll physics. When it "looked right" it was quite impressive to me.
I'll be honest. I only ever played this game on my xbox, and I have nothing but fond memories of it. I attempted to play it on pc and ran into some issues. one of the few shooters I preferred on console.
If you want to have some extra fun in this game, run through it using the old potato masher grenade in melee as often as you can, you'll straight up lay out enemies with a crack on the head. Basically fighting melee with melee
Every time I here that trumpet start theme I just get a wave of nostalgia of spending hours upon hours of trying to beat this game and getting all the medals on all the missions. What a great time for gaming that was compared to now.
9:18 "...feels out of place in a Medal of Honor game." That's a Flakturm or flak tower. These were actually constructed by the Germans around a couple of German cities. There were 8 of these behemoths during the war and some still stand today.
Damn the music really does make you immerse yourself into a WW2 movie-like scenario. I am considering of getting this game. For America!!! For Freedom!!! For my wife!!!
The tower thing is a flak tower, legit as F. It's like an above ground bunker with AA defenses, some of them are still standing as they proved too much to destroy by the Russians and the Allies. Enjoyed your review anyway, have not played any of the medal games, was always a bf guy and did not know DICE had a hand in MoH.
The rest of the series hasn't fared as well, but the original Medal of Honor for the ps1 is still a classic, and is easily the most historically significant of the series. It was released during a time that FPS titles on console were hard to come by, and most ports from PC were trash. Medal of Honor, however, being designed with a controller in mind, was incredibly polished and immersive at the time, thanks in large part to its authentic, believable atmosphere. Much of this was due to the outstanding sound design, which was way beyond what most studios were pushing out in the late 90s. Then there's the animations for enemies as they took damage, dancing and flailing as you pumped them full of lead, often resulting in that satisfying *tink* as you shot their helmets off.

this death towers are falkturms en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flak_tower they were so heavily built that the american soldiers needed 3 attempts with several tons of explosives and the things were still standing
That tower is a flak tower, those are real.
Some of them are still standing and can be visited until today.
There are 8 of them i think
You're right, but, correct me if I'm wrong: I can't recall them being captured by an airborn assault(*), just surrendered by default as Berlin fell at ground level.
(*)Rem: which, given they were heavy AA emplacements, would have been a very unpractical way of assaulting them; it's one thing to take a B-17, with its speed and flight ceiling, up against these defenses. Quite another to fly a DC-3 in there. They would have been blown to shreds.
Which, as an aside, is why Market Garden almost worked: all the heavy AA had been withdrawn to Germany itself. The reasons Market Garden failed were: 1) there were more and better reserves in the area than intelligence had suggested. 2) it took longer for Montgomery to link up to the bridgehead than expected, because of 3) the allied command hadn't fully grasped the implications of the flexibility of the command structure within the German army, given they were often under supplied at the best of times. That only really clicked at the Battle of the Bulge, at which point it also became clear the Red Army had known about this for years and just hadn't told the allies. One of the seeds of mistrust and the cold war right there.
I don't know, I'm probably alone in finding this stuff fascinating, but there you go.
hey screw you! speaking with authority on matters you have a passing knowledge on is a proud aussie tradition. Show some cultural sensitivity!
Just looked them up, never heard or seen them before but the look and idea of them is pretty cool. Modern castles.
You can actually remove the scopes from the guns like the stg44, but I don’t think you can do that for the bolt-action rifles
Also, that “death tower” is actually a real thing built by the Nazis and you can actually visit many of these to this day, so it isn’t that big of an issue considering they existed in real life
Aside from that, great review as always,
Yeah was gonna mention that
Yeah flakturms were fucking cool, despite being basically useless in the long run.
(on console anyway)
when aiming down scopes not regular sights that's what the crosshair on the left side of the scope is
From lvl. 1 Italian Blackshirt to lvl 10 Nazi Storm Elite. That's how Airborne works.
Yeah.Italian soldiers are presented as the worst here. That's just stupid.
The *SS storm elite* soldiers really bugged me in a historical and realistic sense. How is a Allgemeine-SS guard who walks around hip firing an MG-42 more elite and better than the Waffen-SS troops?

those towers actually existed
, i think they were 7 and were used as anti air defense
They were kinda not usefull for Germany in the war, the enemies went around them and at the end.. they could have spent those resources better
its called "Flak Towers" in Vienna, Austria
Well as i said, they could have spent those resources more efficient
@JustSomeTimber1nTheLake
They were quite useful as a shelter for civilians and military personal during air raids, that was their purpose after all.
REA987 from all those resources they made those towers they could make many more shelters in many more cities
Again *non-efficient resource management*
@@justsometimber1nthelake873 That's another argument entirely. That more efficient/useful solutions existed does not mean that the chosen solution was not useful
It served as a great area of NOPE! for the Allies actually. Provided they still had enough ammo.
Hi, Larry :) God I remember those games. My friend had the worst time of his life when he played Hour of Victory :D
Frontline is #1
This multiplayer (back when the community was active of course) was some of the best I’ve played in a world war 2 shooter, the parachute mechanic lends itself greatly to respawns in multiplayer and prevented you from feeling trapped at spawn or like your only objective was to try and trap the enemy in theres, and almost all of the maps looked absolutely beautiful if I remember right, especially some of the lonely country sides and French towns
I like how there's Italian enemies, most games leave them out.
If I remember Vanguard had Italian troops in it too. That one was kinda underrated.
@@V1VISECT6 There were also italian troops in the Breakthrough expansion for Allied Assault.
Call of Duty Big Red One had them
Mafia had them
Kinda a shame what happened with the Reboot series, could've been a fine evolution of the series
I liked Medal of Honor 2010. But I'm glad the franchise is dead. EA destroys all it touches thanks to greed and now political agendas.

@Beard Cheese Birth control is against the catholic faith
@@JeffSense I would figure they'd be more concerned about the fact that semen found in a little boy would be bad for publicity and donations.
Ours squad AI kind of a distraction, 1 time The AI just rush into the building 4 guy in a row and distracted machines gun for me.
I thought the hold-breath sniping mechanic was interesting for the time. On console, having to squeeze the trigger rather than jamming down on it was unique, and you could learn a kind of sweet spot
I don't remember which gun it was but in one gun the mag was making more echoic sound with each bullet fired from it until it was empty.
dj1298rotik that was a couple of guns, but the most notable one was the STG.
You can hold shift when you lean and move around.
SUUUPER late to this, but in case anyone was wondering about the sniper scopes - They were designed for controller, where you would slowly squeeze the trigger to steady the scope (shown by the bar on the left when scoped in) this would change the depth of field effect so it was clear instead of blurry.
Sounds like a severe oversight by the team responsible for the PC port.
@@vo7tage hold spacebar when scoped, same effect. This game didn't really try to convey any mechanics to the player.
Literally just played the game start to finish today and that would’ve been so nice to know 😭
That game, was one of those my Dad was really addicted to!
You're meant to replay the levels like an arcade game, hitting all of the secret landing points and attacking the objectives in different orders.
going thru the game now with a keyboard that has an analog stick, what do the triggers do and you know of any other shooters with analog leaning?
Umm, DICE did not make the _Medal Of Honor_ games. That was Danger Close, who went through two different name changes. Their original name being DreamWorks Interactive and then later EA Los Angeles.
"involved"
@@okamikatze863 - I just realized I made a mistake. Danger Close switched its name to DICE Los Angeles in 2013 and recieved staff from the original DICE studio. However, it's still wrong to say that DICE was involved in most of the _Medal Of Honor_ games. They only worked on the multiplayer in the 2010 reboot and that's about it.

Okay, you're absolutely right that there are things the game doesn't do a very good job communicating to you, but there are actually ways around these issues
*You can walk with your sights up by holding the sprint key.* I'm surprised you haven't figured this one out yet after so many playthroughs. This comes from being developed for consoles first and foremost, as do most other things on this list. But because leaning is bound to the left stick on controller, you can actually use this very clever incremental leaning when playing with a controller. It even goes up and down, allowing you to perfectly tuck into corners to minimize exposure. One of my favorite drills in this is to crouch and duck as low as possible when I get startled so I can drop-shot the enemy
*You can unequip some scopes by using the "alt fire" key or pressing "melee" while aiming down sights.* I also found some forum users experimenting with preventing upgrades from ever unlocking by modifying config files, but it requires a new game to work
*There is a whole feature missing from the mouse and keyboard control scheme causing your sniper rifles to be wildly inaccurate.* You may notice a UI element on the left side of the screen while using some scopes with absolutely no explanation of what it means.
"Giant Nazi Death Tower"
You mean EA headquarters?
Ba Dum Tish.
Those towers were flak towers
"Extremely aggressive meleeing enemy"
*Looks at CoD2*
The most underrated game. I remember playing it and oh my god it’s so good. More people should play it
Gggman those "death towers". They really existed you know.
They are actually Flack towers and they were 8 of them and acted as anti aircraft defense
It's very interesting to see that those flak towers still exist today & what they've been turned into.
What have they become exactly?
I haven't actually looked into it as much as I should
Thomas Wright they’re now museums and memorials, last I knew
I had this game on disc as a part of the MOH anniversary bundle for a long time but it never worked for me. Recently I picked it up on Steam and it seems to actually run alright. One day I will get through it but I absolutely despise redoing long chunks of gameplay over again especially if you lose unlocks etc.
The Giant tower was a real thing my dude. I think they had three of them used and used them as anti air batteries and civilians used them as bomb shelters.
the 'death tower' is what they called a flak tower
it's high up to have clear vision and to fuck with bomber height detection (so they where slightly harder to hit) and their only purpose was to somewhat fuck up bombers and fighters although they where the equivelant of covering fire so the luftwaffe could have an easier time
mind you they did shoot down loads of planes just that the nazis didn't make them to do that
it just turns out that a big bomber moving in a single direction a good chunk in the air isn't as hard to hit as they thought
Ready for EAs classic Warfighter?
MoH is ded, deel wiff it
Fuckk you
Warfighters campaign was still good.
Thanks, it's nice to see reviews on older games, and MoH rules!
8:48 Lol, I will never forget when you first encounter those Nazi Storm Elites, I was like;
"Is that guy carrying and firing an MG42 from his hip!
In Airborne there is one
thing I don't like - upgrading Gewehr means you got damn scope.
Thankfully you can take it off from STG44. Even these guys with MG42
didn't bother me. Well, maybe also it was kinda too short. Also this
game looks like it was designed to play on hardest difficulty, because
it doesn't feel ridiculous like in other games.
Come on. MOH 2010 was way better than Airborne.
MoH 2010 was boring as hell. I rather play again Pacific Assault than that.
MoH Airborne is one of my favourite WW2 games. The shotgun in this is one of the greatest shotguns in all of gaming history.
Let go
Scopes on Gwehers are irremovable, but you can take the scope off the STG 44.
SOLD! Im gettin this game ASAP!
Plz review more of b4 2010~ games that are worth playing!
7:50 The memories this brought back; hahaha! xD
Loved this game despite bugs and stuff, was something different with it for sure.

You gotta press the right trigger gently to get good accuracy with the sniper. Pretty sick mechanic IMO.
You forgot to mention how the Colt 1911 one shots the enemies.
That thing is a beast with Magnum bullets. C96 Also can melt enemies when fully upgraded.

You can remove the scopes like you can remove the grenades from the launchers. They should share the same button.
I enjoyed this game but it should have had regenerating health. Heath packs work best in survival horror or action RPG games. Also in games were you’re not constantly shooting at something like in GTAV.
Nah regenerating health breaks the tension of the firefights. Health packs are essential for a good fps.
It does have regenerating health though.

But with the way the game looks in the colors in the textures of the colors, it's very hard to tell the difference. They almost all look the same unless you're wearing straight up black. Aka the heaviest enemy.
And I only know this because I remember seeing Asher video about German uniforms.
This is one of the games I loved when I was younger. I played it on the Xbox 360. It’s still fun but it’s not as fun as it was when I was younger.
I've been waiting for you to make this review forever!
Been waiting for ages for this video! thanks v much x
9:18 "...feels out of place in a Medal of Honor game."
That's a Flakturm or flak tower.
Enjoyed your review anyway, have not played any of the medal games, was always a bf guy and did not know DICE had a hand in MoH.
grew up playing this game over and over always has a place in my heart
I loved this game when i was younger, so fun.
The comparison to Lex Luther at the end was gold. Made me spill my drink
This was the first game i ever completed on Hard difficulty, still one of my favorites
This was my first and so far only shooter I've completed on expert, hell I've even completed each mission deathless on expert
