If airborne came out one year earlier it would’ve gone down as one of the best, completely overshadowed by its deservingly more popular competitors. I miss MOH
This game made me feel like a badass as a kid and the memories will always stay with me. One of my favorite games. Especially the cover image for this game got me hyped everytime i opened the case to get the disc. Look forward to the next reviews they're great, keep it up!
Yeah the cover for this was great. A bit more action packed than the final game jumps but still a good bit of hype haha. Thanks for the kind words dude, there'll be a new retrospective next month I hope 😎
Hey dude, this was a great video! Your voice, script, editing and everything else came together for an awesome watch. Your channel has a lot of potential to get big, and I sure hope it does, especially if you keep doing games like this that are a bit forgotten, but probably shouldn't be. My only critique is that I really would have enjoyed hearing you discuss the progression system in the singleplayer, and how it encouraged you to try out different weapons in different ways to earn some cool stuff for them, thus adding more variety to the moment to moment gameplay, and I can't rightly think of anyone else who did anything else like that at the time. Other than that, bravo and splendid job. Excited for more in the future!
Thanks for the kind words :) I do have some other games in mind for future retrospectives, mainly lesser known titles, but also some other bigger videos too. Regarding the progression system, I have no idea why I forgot to put that in the video. It was even something I was thinking about quite a lot whilst playing. Only when I had finished recording and mostly done editing did I realise. Bit annoying haha
When I bought this game from a gamestop a few years ago, I wasn't expecting much from it. It exceeded my expectations. The use of recoiless rifles in the games arsenal was surprising and I can relate to dropping on the church in the Market Garden level. The open level design made for a great sniping experience in addition to the fact that custom loadouts make for better replayability. Not sure if the Flakturm assault was historically accurate, but as for how it was designed, it was spot on. Definitely a unique experience to pick up!
I think Pacific Assault was the second best game in the franchise, only to be surpassed by Allied Assault. The two weapon limit trope was what really let it down from being up there with Allied Assault.
I never knew people disliked this game. This is by far one of my favourite games that I grew up playing and I still play this and allied assault to this day. For my Fathers birthday a while back we even bought the medal of honor 10 year anniversary disc set. Allied Assault and Airborne will always be my favourite games.
also little tip for playing this on PC, the leaning and cover peaking mechanic, you can lock your position by holding shift, so if you dont want to pop up all the way out of cover, hold shift when you're up as far as you want to be out
Great video man. I Played MOH 1, Underground, Allied Assault, frontline, rising sun, COD 1 - 7, and COD WWII before this game and I still think this is the most fun WW2 FPS. It's not overly railroady or cinematic, the stage design has a sense of adventure you don't see in CODs after 1, a decent level of polish to the gunplay and escalating challenge without a Sniper town to bog you down.
Same here really, and out of most First Person Shooters, especially big budget ones by EA this has to rank among the best, maybe the best MOH other than Allied Assault or Frontline. I do think it's cinematic though, but as you said not in a railroad, post-modern warfare way. Whilst the lack of a Sniper town is true, I do feel that Operation Varsity comes close in the outside portions, those damn snipers... at least you can see them this time around
Awesome video playing it for the first time right now my cousin gave me his old Xbox 360 with all his games. Wish I would of played it earlier back in the day "now I really feel old" but I was caught up in the Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare hype with everyone else.
Have this ,completed this and loved it ,paved the way for medal of honour Tier1 and war fighter which were awesome ,theres never been a vietnam or Korean war game tho other than conflict Vietnam ,call of duty black ops depicted nam well but u didn't see much of it until a repeat of nam in BO2 ,medal of honour was just a breathe of fresh air ,loved the early MOH games esp the one based in France where you were an OSs spy gotta bring that back
Yknow what, I was playing that recently and thought the same. It's such a strange odd one out. Maybe I will, been a good while since I had anything to write about
The graphics and gameplay of this game were far ahead of their time, it’s quiet sad to know it didn’t sell that well. I’ve seen worse games sell even triple than MOH: Airborne, who knows maybe if they delayed it’s release it would’ve sold more. It’s only flaw I guess, is the lack of storytelling and NPCs AI
I loved this game! I'm playing it for the first time in over five years. I only played a measly two MoH, but this is probably my third favorite shooter. I like how the guns feel and I don't mind the objectives being "boring" Game tasks are always enherently boring. Edit: I wish I could've played the multiplayer.
Also, I honestly appreciate older graphics. New games like battlefield 6 just do too much to try to stylize their visuals. It gets in the way of the gameplay for me. I think that's just my crappy eyes though.
Yeah I like older graphics too, this game looks dated for sure but far from bad imo. I do sort of love cutting edge graphics though, I mean Battlefield 4 blew my mind in 2013 and I feel 6 will do the same. It sort of suits that franchise imo
@@paranoidpony6861 Yeah, it's a shame that they let that get in the way of the gameplay sometimes though. I think most dice games post Star Wars Battlefront I have been quite barebones
I don't know, I kind of think that Christopher Lennertz has managed to outshine Michael Giacchino in terms of score, just listen to his European Assault score.
Okay, while I think the scores to Rising Sun and European Assault was great (Pacific Assault's music was not my favorite), it's the Giacchino ones that I come back to time and time again. There's not a single track on the first three soundtracks that I skip (Other than that 'Each Night He Comes to Me' song on Underground). And Frontline's is just as good, but I do skip a song or three every now and then. Honestly, Medal of Honor and Underground's scores are my two favorite video game soundtracks of all time, and one of my favorite soundtracks, period.
Seriously, all composers are masters of their craft. Christopher Lennertz's scores were fantastic and fit the games quite well. I do think the original MOH soundtrack is a damn masterpiece, and that is in no way dimishing Lennertz's work.
I love the mistake of saying the 501st instead of the 101st. Saying the star wars clone troppers of Anakin instead of the real thing. Also is there a 501st airborne division.
one problem with the game is that you literally only need to guns: the stg 44 and the mp 40. you can ignore the rest. the shotgun and that one single shot, non scoped rifle are particularly useless. and honestly i think the only way to really have fun with it is to play on easy´and mostly use hip firing (the aiming down sights hit detection is 100% fucked imo) exept when you scoped then its okay atleast. otherwise hip firing is honestly more accurate.
I love the mistake of saying the 501st instead of the 101st. Saying the star wars clone troopers of Anakin instead of the real thing. Also is there a 501st airborne division. But Airborne kinda feels like what my great grandfather would have been a part of. He didn't fight in the war per say but he was one of the men who made sure the Planes flew one of the most important jobs in the Royal Airforce for without them the soldiers & piolets in the Airforce couldn't do anything. He fought in North Africa & later in Italy. Was their when Rome was Liberated & saw Pope Pius XII & some holy water landed on his head. Later in life he'd go bald & my Nana say he blamed it on the Pope. (note He wasn't Catholic & I forget if he was church of Ireland or Presbyterian. He also only went as one of his catholic friends wanted to see the pope & he went with.) but the game takes place in that area & he'd of been one of the men who fixed the planes used in the battle. Also why do most modern WWII games not do the Italian & North African fronts. We get the Pacific, French, German, (sometimes Norway & stuff) & the Russian fronts but never the Greek, Balkans, chinese, & indo-chinese (i don't think they appear they might). Most big games just tell the battles we've already seen many times but never much new. WW2 fatigue came in because we did all the same fronts but do something different & i'm sure you'd have a great game. Like nobody tells the Indian stories & really anyone that isn't American, British, Russian or the rare other groups. I don't want to list them all but you know what I mean.
If WWII was so unpopular, then why do we see games like Post Scriptum, Hell Let Loose, Enlisted, and Hell, even Battlefield V (despite all its problems) still being played? If anything, I wanted more from the Medal of Honor and WWII Call of Duty experience! The so-called WWII fatigue was manufactured by a bunch of bitching so-called "Gaming Journalists" who have no love or appreciation for history! Games like Battle for The Pacific and World War II Combat are just bad games overall, and have left a stain on the genre. I'll tell you what I'm sick of, Modern Warfare games that take place in Russia and the Middle East!! They've been done to death!!
If airborne came out one year earlier it would’ve gone down as one of the best, completely overshadowed by its deservingly more popular competitors. I miss MOH
Phenomenal job here. Deserves more views
Thank you dude 😎
I often mod some of the weapon files to make the momentum of the ragdoll even greater cause it's fun
Looking back on it, this game is a masterpiece of its genre. Good memories playing it, too.
Thank you for covering it.

Share it around dude ;)
you just got yourself another sub!
Thanks!
honestly Airborne was gorgeous then and it still is today, best looking game of that decade, fight me
Years later and I still don't know how to get a greased landing
Find a flat spot to land on, then tilt the control stick forward as you're about to land. Easy as pie.

Yes, I agree that specific graphic style is a trademark of BF. They always wanted to be the best looking shooter on the market.
