    Nowadays I see a whooooooole lot more hood semis out on the roads than I do cabovers here in the USA unlike back in the 1980s & down when I saw a lot of both cabovers & hoods around, a big mix. Of course things have changed like the 65ft length limit was lifted which eliminated the need for cabovers to pull trailers that exceeded a certain length. The USA is one out of very few countries today that has only a small number of cabovers besides fire trucks, garbage trucks, yard trucks, & small non-semi trucks like those Isuzus which are also cabovers.

    Not bad. I got a 2006 with "150k platinum". First time i hooked up to trailer. Lot's of smoke. No power. Blew oil cap off. After sitting for 2 months at mechanic's dealership. Dealer said nothing wrong with it. So we did the turbos praying that was the issue. Next 30 days tranny blew. Then next 30 days later, the engine, coolant and always had that oil consumption and now are doing THE overhaul "again".

Don’t believe the hype some of these guys tell you that “everyone should go buy a truck” do you have this kind of money to drop into a truck? Most don’t. That’s why lease programs exist. They’re also geared to profit the company not you. That’s why most of them are walk away leases. Nothing wrong with being a company driver if your making good money.

    • @brentb5303
      @brentb5303 3 года назад +1

      They are ugly as sin.(except the classic XL's but the 379 is still a better looker)The sleeper isn't as nice (smaller mattress width and cheap plastic cupboards) but easier to get in and out of. Freightliners are way more comfortable due to a much larger seating area and leg room. I drove a 379 with a C15 and 13 speed. It was a fun truck to drive. It took me a couple weeks to get used to because it had a long wheel base and a turning radius of a cruise ship. I currently drive a used fleet spec (stripped down i.e. few gauges telling me what's going on with the truck and basic trim) 2016 Cascadia automatic with the DD15. I prefer a standard but the other freightliner I drove had a 10 speed standard and I didn't like the shift pattern.(the 13 or 18 is much easier). You can dial up the C15 to insane amounts of power but if your not heavy hauling your just throwing money away. I got around 5 to 5.5 miles a gallon with the Pete because it wasn't turned up. The cascadia gets anywhere from 6-7 mpg depending on weight and terrain. I deleted the DEF on the DD15 in the Cascadia and turned it up a bit. Due to the automatic transmission it's not as fast off the line as the Pete but will blow its doors off fully loaded up a mountain. However it now gets almost identical fuel milage as a long hood pete post deletion and turn up. The C15 wasn't turned up at all though. I drove a turned up C15 in a heavy haul International Eagle and it would rip the tires off the rim. Got 4 mpg bobtail with the wind behind you though. Basically the Peterbilts look pretty but have their own issues. Probably last longer than a cascadia freightliner but will cost more up front and in parts/repairs. Trucking is a job for me and it's all about the money so I doubt I'll drive another long hood over the road. For a guy who's in it because he really enjoys trucking and likes to show off his rig then he probably wouldn't be caught dead in my Cascadia. Hope this clears a little bit up for you.

      Less Than Load (partial load)
      I was thinking about this too because company trucks load their trucks to the max and they are in the shop more often. Taking partial loads you'll still get the same or more per mile, spend less on fuel, less strain on your rig too.

      Yeah, true....bought a 20k prostar with Cummins....almost 50k miles still running...made plenty of money so far...no need for a gas guzzling show truck as a new owner op

    you know what's sad if you own a truck like that?..... ok I'll tell U: Pumping tons of $ over the years and just when you have it just the way you want it someone crashes into your truck and their insurance doesn't want to pay for the repairs so what do you get? a settlement check and a truck listed as a salvaged leaving your heavily invested truck worthless.

    It cost him that because he probably don't wrench on it himself. That's why us "different breeds" be rolling while that large car is a parked in a shop's bay. But she's puuurty though. Guess that's all that matters.

      LTL ..... not full trailer load if I remember correctly. Typically local or multi stops. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

      LTL = Less Than Load. Basically full (be it low) rate to deliver partials for large companies who need stuff now. And there are far more lucrative ventures for the savvy.

    You won’t get me to trade my hood truck W900 for anything. You get what you pay for. There’s a reason why hood trucks are always in demand. They’re built to last and haul freight.

    Let me ask you a question man I'm just everything you're saying just don't make sense not really thought you're talking in circles how long you been trucking first of all I didn't say anything offensive I just asked you how long you been trucking that's what I said how long have you been trucking yes I didn't say nothing offensive and I didn't say any nasty word so how long have you been driving truck here how you been driving truck a year and you feel like you got the experience that you should be running 800 horsepower and you should be at the top of the hill first over a person that's been out there for 40 50 years you feel like you should be up there to the top right and don't you think that's a little bit one-sided and then you say you know about the LTL if you're hauling freight freight is free okay if you're home LTL tell you you want to haul you want to make extra money for the aggravation then that's what you're doing that's your choice that's your choice so you know you make it sound like you're forced into this nobody forced anybody into anything you're doing this cuz you want to well then quit acting like that you know well that's just it you act like that you know everybody's got a choice on everything when you haul freight you drive a truck a lot of times you don't have a choice you got to take it and that's just the way it is you may not like it but it does happen to have that way well you need to do your job just as much as everybody else I've been out here over 50 years and I still when I when I go out and call Frazier put a refrigerated load on or something and that loads got to be on the floor I still got to pay a lumper to take it off or do it myself and I ain't doing it no more I'm not unloading no more freight playing simple that's my choice yeah it's it's not for anybody else so I always call and have a lumper lined up if I'm taking a load it to slip sheet and it's got to be unloaded and setting the floor block or six blocks or how they want it I make sure the guy that's unloading it knows how to do it I go to the truck and go to bed wake me up when you're done that's the way it is I mean there's no other yeah so but it was my choice to take that refrigerated load see to be honest with you on the refrigerator trailer ain't nothing but a waste of money cost you $80,000 for a trailer 80,000 bucks for a trailer I should know Asian you should know your friend Karen ledford she buys trailers and charges them to me and sell them to other people with boot finance remember that fly by night finance company yeah you know who it is you you and Mike you interview only people that sentence got boot financing or American finance with Sully or or the new military finance that wind is a bank or have a limited liability LLC no such thing but well that's what she's got on her advertisement in her on Facebook where LLC really you ain't LLC and being a bank I can assure you that FDIC if you ain't got left here I see back and you're not a bank Mike you an egg and that's all you been doing but I watched every show you God and it's always a truck all of her 11 years I've been doing this and then I'm I'm 18 years old when I got the truck and I'm 20 now and I've got nine trucks really so just a few years you got nine trucks that don't add up man just don't add up is that your independently wealthy there is no way in hell you got nine trucks not legally it's just it just it's the truth you may not like it but it is the truth unless you got somebody like Karen left for their Sully that's giving you backyard financing where they make you think you're with the credit bureau but there is no credit bureau what's wrong Karen you don't like me that's the truth Michigan State Police knows all about it so does Monroe county Police they know all about you care and your bogus finance company I've got over 100 trucks back here in the last weekend almost two weeks almost 100 trucks and trailers I've got back it's pretty bad isn't it there's no way these people can pay the payments Karen that you have them on with your bogus finance there's no way they can pay the payments that's why I just got right here I know damn well he can't afford that truck I know you can't afford it and you're struggling to make the payment you're going to be bringing it to me for me to take it back because I'm the one that funded the money for you to do it I'm be knowing to me but my attorney and I have figured out how it's happening along with Detroit trailer telling the truth how many trailers that Karen has purchased and John ledford's name where John ledford had to pay for them and then Karen resold them it's the truth I got back four dump trailers today remember Karen you were fussing because you never seen that one and it's so pretty remember I got it Karen he brought it to me with a red Peterbilt and he brought it to me so so good that's that's the truth and Asian you need to know you know you need to quit on this interview and strictly boot financing and and give the real truck driver a chance instead of just to all all my built this truck 11 years ago you told that story you Asian told that story and Green Bay Wisconsin with blue line distribution in who owns blue line now right Asian who owns Blue line are blueless and who owns it I do I bought it every truck they had was finished with actually financed through boot financing and the trailers were all financed and sold to John ledford we're carrying manipulated the paperwork over into bluelation if you want to talk to Detroit trailer won't you interview them right now but he's dying to tell the truth you damn sure ain't coming over an interview and me are you you've been in Florida a dozen times and you haven't bothered to come by and see me and interview me you don't want to interview me because I'm not going to play the game that you're playing with Karen and you need to tell the truth what's
