The main factor is a democrat controlled economy. Democrats declared war on fossil fuels which caused astronomical inflation on everything from raw goods, production, transport, and sale of all goods. All that cuts into everyone's margin and the nail in the coffin is your average taxpayer doesn't have disposable income left which means people quit spending money which means less goods to be transported.
The mega carriers are self-insured but usually carry only $100,000 cargo liability. Very few "common" loads require more than $100,000. I believe your way off on the $100,000,000. Maybe the customer wanted $200,000 cargo liability and the owner couldn't get get what they wanted because of cost. Finally, carriers usually carry $1,000,000 insurance which is more than currently required by FMCSA.
Always best to pay the TRUCK FIRST. meaning being able to pay the maintenance motor overhaul if needed etc. Thats just my opinion which was my grandfathers belief he did it as fleet owner for 52 yrs. Ive been at it 36 yrs owner operator for 30 of that. Still going. So more than one way to make it work out.
A certain orange mega carrier under bid a contact I was on by 35%. Then when it was agreed to run for 35% less, they offered another 15% off to the shipper… True story….50% less than what we were running for….
You can make more money buying a roll off truck and starting small . Buy you a trash truck or two and starting small in small towns . Them trash trucks and roll off trucks will make more money than any truck going down the interstate . I would do it but I only got 3 years till I retire out the Teamsters union
Owner operators need their own insurance that we can pull together or something like that. I don't know how that works but there's got to be a way to make it happen🤔💯🇺🇸
Gotta understand your certification and recertification for you and your house hold no bs about certain things especially when it comes to real inspectors or not real inspectors
This is why I say Mega carriers shouldn't be able to self-insure. They complain about level playing filed with O/O's and that's why they always pushed for E-logs and want speed limiters. Level playing field would be everyone has to go through an insurance company.
I'm running rates constantly over $3 a mile. I run them from my house in Athens Greece over my computer. 4 trucks 1 truck payment 4 reefers paid. I'll park if I need to but I don't. I keep my guys moving. 500k CC availability. The economy in general is crap.

Thank the Trump COVID-19 Virus
DUMMY, do you know oil and refined oil is the number 1 export of the U.S.
That sucks man
I stop by monthly fee parking yard I heard alots saying got 3 trucks no driver
How much money should you have if you were to hire someone to drive your truck?
100k set back
Always best to pay the TRUCK FIRST. meaning being able to pay the maintenance motor overhaul if needed etc.
Schnider
There are still too many small carriers and O/Os out there for freight rates to recover from the freight rate collapse.
Its a private pool, group of companies put their money in the pot every so often
You got to make the money to be able to do it .
yup tripping over each other to cut rates
Good for you :):):)
Gotta be talking bout Loshawn Parks
Not just that..Now alot of brokers you try to book a with them if you have less than 4 trucks they're not gonna give you the load.
I have 1 truck and I'm already bankrupt... Literally
I’ve heard A if a mega wants your loads and runs they will either A use Dot to cripple you or do what just happened to this company back door payments
Monopoly to get OO off the road to usher in self driving AI trucking
This is a quick fix. You just pool small carriers and get a great rate.
Every time i watch this channel, trucking companies go out of business
Good Evening, I am a owner operator. In yes they doing it , but I am going to keep the faith.
Then friend not providing the service. If same rate. Yes insurance, delivery guarantees all part of service
If he used the SMITH system he wouldn't need to look it up on his phone
I'm running rates constantly over $3 a mile. I run them from my house in Athens Greece over my computer. 4 trucks 1 truck payment 4 reefers paid. I'll park if I need to but I don't. I keep my guys moving. 500k CC availability. The economy in general is crap.
Right now Epes/penske is terminated all there IC. Before there contracts ended
Smith System drivers...STAY OUT OF THE MIDDLE LANE! STAY OUT OF THE WAY!
Still cannot get the hat to rock it in queens NY
