      The system is broken.
      I will explain. Minimum wage was increased for the illegal immigrant. Who will make 10x more than in their home country doing the same job. Their rates increased when minumum wage increased for Americans.
      Now. These jobs include. Farm hands. Meat production and ag production companies.
      The prices on food went up. Because they are paying them more. There are 15,000 illegal immigrants cutting across the border per day.
      What is the adverts be whispered to them. Stolen identity for seasonal pay. Which primarily means they fly back and forth from their homeland. They pay the ticket. Federal agencies do not care. I have seen it with my own eyes.
      Now, with the elections. They are using their stolen identities to register to vote. If they dont win. Their backup plan is the DEI pilots. They need them to fly them back and forth without any problems. They are covering their angles to deal with Trump. Treasonous pricks.

    I've been a trucker for over 18 years now. In transportation over 30. I have my own authority and I've never worked so hard in my life to be this broke. If I give up my truck I will never work in the industry again. That's how angry I am about what is being allowed to happen. Fuck corporate greed and all of the corrupt politicians from both parties. They all have sold us out. Time to move off grid, grow your own food and fuck being a pawn in their game.

      my parents did offgrid they are retired. but i dont admire their decision. like still commercial farming is more efficient than if everyone grows their own food is my opinion.
      as far as trucking. im doing teaming fedex ground my living expenses is 5k a month in california, my income is under 5k so im losing money working a very unhealthy and unsafe job that is also depriving me of a life at home.
      to me ive never been this unhappy before. in 2014 i worked hard after 1 year work hard i had 25k saved and back then 25k went alot further my living expenses must of been around 1.5k a month. so living large in 2016 around those times was awesome.

    The reason this freight recession has lasted so long is because of all the PPP loans that kept so many OOs in business when they would have quit otherwise. Now they're finally getting off the road. Most of them just jumped into trucking during Covid when rates were hot and weren't truckers to begin with.

    • @ghostbuilder3187

Let's see this guy run same miles a week in the North East. I,ll bet this guy smokes and lives on fast food and energy drinks. Put him in a 65 mph truck and see him bragging about these miles. No single driver runs that many miles week after week, obviously has no quality home time and his health will eventually crash.

      @@Keekay91 I greatly appreciate the kindness and me and my family are going to continue to push through this. It's just a rough patch but looking back on it. When I first got my CDL back in 2013 I thought I was going to be thriving me and my family but the economy is just bad and I know things will get better. Blessings and good health to you and again thank you for the words of kindness

    • @natixeboom
      @natixeboom 2 месяца назад +6

      I feel for you man.
      I started working at Stevens Transport a few years ago after getting my CDL at the tail end of 2020. I worked up against my 70 almost every week, and only made $32,000 in 2021 as my first full year as a truck driver. Then in 2022 with inflation on the rise I still only made around $40,000. I got fed up and quit, and then started working with a regional company and made around $65k last year, working less hours and being home every weekend. I spent most of this year unable to work due to an injury and all the money I saved up from last year is almost gone. Most of these OTR companies just treat their drivers like absolute garbage.
      I would like to have a family myself, but in this economy, no one can reasonably afford to take care one them unless you made more than a hundred thousand dollars a year. Our economy is in the gutter, no one can afford a house, no one can afford food without using credit spending, people are getting pay cuts and layoffs left and right, and those in power want you to be good little tax slaves.
      You have my sympathy for trying to have a family in this cruel world.

I don't have a lot of bills for my place. I've made some cut backs out here on the road. I have one meal in a truck stop. If I get hungry later on , I will eat something out of my truck. It's a rough ride, but my wife and I are making it. Hold your heads up Driver's, its going to be a long drive . Truckers losing jobs like me when I was at Yellow, then most companies don't hire ANYONE unless they have 1-3 years of experience.
    It's not a good industry for people that aren't willing to do Regional/OTR for a year and they don't tell anyone this who's getting their CDL that almost nobody will hire them without a year of experience.
    I think the government should step in and force companies to take fresh graduates and be required to train them for a month or so and give these companies tax breaks for doing so especially with insurance, or insurance benefits for doing this.
    They keep saying there's a massive trucker shortage but it's their own damn fault for gatekeeping all the new truckers out of jobs.

    There are still way too many truckers out there because too many truckers bought their own trucks during the freight boom a few years ago, and are willing to take any freight to not lose their investments in their trucks.

    DRAYAGE is booming currently. This 2nd/3rd quarter is the biggest we ever had since the pandemic. Imma owner/operator and waited for about two years for this uptick. You gotta know the industry to make sound decisions. Hang in there fellas. If drayage is picking up then that’s a good sign for trucking and the economy. When trucking started to decline back in 2022 we were the 1st industry to feel it. When it picks up we will be the 1st to experience it. We bring in the raw goods and freight into America. Ships are coming in which means industries are ordering shit and it’s slight demand. Drayage is the 1st industry that touches all freight before America touches it. I’ll give it by next year the OTR Tuckers will feel it and will pick up. Just gotta sag it out and wait for it to be distributed and broke down. Supply & Demand, it won’t always be slow. Demand is picking up. That’s my 2 cents or my 2 miles. Inglewood Port Rat checking out. Wheels up and be safe yall.

    Lost my trucking job in an unrelated situation. Yeah my company fired me without reason as I was out on medical note from a doctor. Oh they also made me work off duty in May before this too knowing if I didn't that I'd be stranded in Memphis for 3 days with no pay because they couldn't reschedule until after the weekend. Rapid Response out of Wentzville, MO messed with me trying to get me to quit after I hurt my back in January at work...Just putting their name out there because they are liars. Nothing they said in orientation was true.

    It looks to me like it’s the owner-ops that are struggling, not so much the company drivers. Is this assessment correct?

    • @Dannie281
      @Dannie281 2 месяца назад +1

      @waterdragon2012 yes and no, big companies hire 100-200 people every other week, but never increase their fleets.
      that is because company drivers leave at the same number of 100-200 drivers nationally every week.
      so we don't hear nearly as much of the struggle from company drivers, especially when they are struggling the hardest to make it. they just show back up at their home yard and clean out the truck.

    This is good and i hate to have to say this as well however there are a lot of ppl driving trucks that were forced to do it for health reasons or age, i for example was in a serious accident when i was 18 and had both knees surgically rebuilt among other things and was told the best i could hope for is to be able to walk again and i dont qualify for disability and i toughed it out and worked construction for 25 yrs in immense pain every day until i couldn't do it anymore and became a trucker but there are a lot of young ppl getting into trucking to avoid doing hard construction jobs and they need to go and leave the trucking jobs to ppl who have paid their dues.

    Transport demand follows economic demand and as the population ages demand for goods falls. Old people have all their stuff and don't buy much and they buy even less when they are dead. A look at the demography of north america tells you that demand is gone and won't come back in the short or medium term.

    I had a trucking business for 2 and a half years. Had up to 8 drivers, all equipment paid off. And my business still failed. I agree with Alex when he said it is a lonely life. My wife was so happy when I told her I was shutting down, she said you haven't been mentally with us for 2 and a half years. I couldn't sleep, I wasn't making money at the end. I still want to open a business but it won't be in trucking. As of right now I'm a fuel hauler and I'm so happy, but still I will start a business sometime in the future. Let this economy correct itself and then I'll do something.

      @miochan6414 it was my own authority, it was a combination of things. But it was mostly my customers kept on dropping their rates until it was unsustainable. The receipt was not fake. 100% real. My son for SSI only gets $700 a month. Think about that as you try to buy food. Thanks for all you do. If it wasn't for all of your hard work. The ones that arrived at my former work place of the last 6 years, come as owner operators . Given grants by who Canada? The UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT? And are paid dirt cheap. I as a company driver. Miles way down. I tell you THE CANADIAN PORTAL IS WIDE OPEN RIGHT NOW. This is planned. Good luck with the rates ever going up.

    It’s really hard work to be an entrepreneur in most businesses. Usually, you have to do it the Dave Ramsey way, work a lot of hours that other people don’t want to, you have no family life & you live on beans & rice & rice & beans until the stuff is paid for, it’s not a get rich quick scheme and Alex is correct. You do pay the price away from the family even if you’re with the family.
