Most Independent truckers don't keep up with maintenance.
They just Make that money $$$$$$$, fix it when it breaks.
The company I'm lease on follows maintenance plus a 90 day inspection
    ( level 1 D.O.T)
Thats how I stay rollin on the road.
To be honest, I myself don't know about these services my rig is required and sometimes I miss 1 or 2 things that are broken. I'm lucky they know what my rig needs to stay rollin strong like new and pass D.O.T inspection.
Every independent trucker needs a good honest mechanic to over look thier rig and help them know what service thier rig requires.

I'm single, still young, and no pets(for now anyways). Haven't taken time off in a little over a year now. Been saving up to build a house and help my parents and grandparents out. My grandfather was a trucker for a long time, and my inspiration to do this job.
My mom and soon to be step-dad are stuck in California due to expenses. My grandpa and step grandma live out near Ogden and wanna get away from the snow and poor air quality. Then I just borrow my Grandmas address up in Oregon for my license, mail, and such. So after a lot of research and work, I'm looking at building one big house outside of city limits in Oregon for all of us. I grew up in a rural setting as did some of my family, so the last thing we want is to be stuck in suburbs. Need some peace and quiet, room to relax, have a garden, and maybe some chickens.
I've been hesitant about buying property just for myself being an OTR driver. Like who's gonna keep an eye on the place while I'm out on the road 4 to 6 weeks at a time. Having some reliable family around will help me, just as much as it'll help them. I may consider going owner operator even after I get me a place. But I'll just tackle one issue at a time.

This is exactly what these people
    Don’t understand.
If you buy the wrong truck , you are buying the right to pay the repair bill at the dealer when it breaks. And believe me , they ALL
    BREAK SOONER OR LATER.

As company driver you get better equipment and a lot of other stuff that you’ll never be able to as owner operator. There’s a reason companies push people to become owner operators and it isn’t because they love to give you all this extra money. Anyone that drives for a living for a while knows how many issues you’ll have with trucks. I drive 2019 and that has problems and it goes to the shop for weeks at a time. the numbers that movers post is misleading. I know I'm one of them. he probably did 500k of work. but most drivers have contracts that pay them around 50% when its all played out. so he actually grosses 250k. also let's subtract all this expensive labor that could run you 50 to 70k per year. also truck payment ,fuel, insurance. realistically its more around 100k a year. wich many o/o can make a year pulling freight. the only real break you get is that you can pay off a truck and it won't be worn out. should be able to pay off a truck and have no more than 300k on the odometer. where a driver really makes money is when he is packing a job. but he will only get them when his agency can't cover the work with their own employees. since the virus these companies aren't moving their employees around. so they have discounted the line hauls so low that they are basically giving the usage away of the truck.wich they don't own , you do.

It’s hard to take this interviewer seriously when he talks like a teenager that watches too many rap videos! (Identity crisis?) I’m from the hood but I don’t talk like this anymore because i found that intelligent people treat me differently because they think that my level of intelligence is lacking! & minorities think I’m “Pandering” & it comes across as disingenuous! Shakespeare said “Brevity is the soul of Genius” to be able to say a lot with just a few words!
YO YOU FEEL ME SON?! On the real real & thats the double truth--RUTH!

He will go bankrupt with that damm volvo first he will have injector problems then the transmission then it will be after treatment sensors then it will be the freaking bull gear right at 800k that will be about 15k then get ready for the cylinder head at that point just get an inframe it will cost lots of money I would suggest to do what I did get rid of it your savings will be gone specially the 2012 year model

I don't think so. A tow truck is up to 2000 or more 130 an hour transmission is 5000 or more ac 1200 for new parts and then down time and paying someone else to come grab your load if it needs to keep moving. That is complete loss of income and the bills keep coming.

He said burn up gears so it was low on oil he burned it up there's probably no Core clutch flywheel rear main seal labor. And that one might have coolers on it that would have got contaminated. I'm not sure
