So….. strength and armor builds have always whines about intelligence and dexterity builds and unlike irl, the strength and armor build don’t have super manpower and money advantage to cheese on. Though, long range mail punching or low quality plate builds require lots of strength to.

Anything that doesn’t agree with the currently accepted opinions will set off reddit. These can come and go in phases, a good example would be r/destinythegame, which has shifted from “Destiny sucks” to “Destiny is the greatest game of all time” based on how recently new content was released.
If you dare to disagree your posts will be downvoted into oblivion and anyone who does reply will call you an idiot for daring to think for yourself.

Alot of ashes of war and simple dark souls mechanic knowledge with a half decent spirit ash completely trivializes 80% of the bosses. These guys just use super busted weapons, a good spirit ash, then think they're goated and go into pvp against each other.
Honestly bow builds are cool to run up against, definitely more fun than some dude running bleed and frost

I had a private soldier build named "Unfortunate Son" that was literally "firearms only" (jar cannon as a main weapon, one-eyed shield as an artillery gun, very rarely caestus for melee and a fire surge spell to simulate a flamethrower on an unupgraded seal cause I was simply lazy).
This build which I thought would be fun made people really angry for some reason. I think true tryhards just hate losing to stuff they always just look down on and consider bad. "How could he defeat my PSGS bloodhound step status effect build with a cannon, that should be impossible!"
Too many people in souls games look up broken builds and end up with broken controllers because you cant get better using a crutch.
I mean, you really are hammering the nail on the coffin, I've only recently decide to try to get into Elden Ring PVP, working on a character right now, but even I'd be mad if that happened.
It's the same logic as people who think that only meta builds can be good. To them, paradoxically, given that it's a Souls game, no amount of skill will make any off-meta build work. Getting that assertion taken out back behind the shed and put down almost certainly breaks something in them.
Its not the build the problem, its the playstile.
You will play passive and stay as far away from possible, costantly dodging and running away.
Which makes life for other people pretty miserable, especially if you have latency or lag as well.

@@_Potaro the hail of arrows ash from Caelid near the hidden golem is really good for status arrows, I think you need the painting in Sellia for it to appear. I have a dex/fth samurai build using the albunaric bow, it's a really good dex longbow...just with the Onislayer greatbow was in game for the proper look
I definitely suffer from hair loss from time to time, but post-mald clarity has kept me from cue ball hairline. While I have a bit of a fivehead, I can admire that bows finally having a chance in the arena is inspiring.

I actually had the honor of fighting this guy in the arena, and didn’t really mind his build that much. I was able to get some early damage off a backstab, but wasn’t able to finish him off. Dude’s very talented, and I’d love to get another chance to fight him sometime.

I saw this video before and it was hilarious. The problem with many tryhards is that they don't understand the game mechanics nearly as well as they think they do. They usually opt to either use the strongest setup, cheese people or both. Then when another person comes along with a cheese that can counter their cheese or outright outplay them with a better understanding of the game mechanics, they all of a sudden get super salty. Which is what makes Kodey's video and yours so, so enjoyable...🤣😂🤣😂

I can hardly fathom it. The first time I played Dark Souls 3, the person letting me try it was baffled that I had morphed into a weird hybrid ball of stats, couldn't fathom why I was changing spells, weapons, and gear so much, and then floored when I started taking every single boss on my second or third try regularly, ajd got a couple first try despite my "terrible" build, which was largely centered around meeting prerequisites for different things I ran into, leaning towards faith/pyromancy.
I just used everything the game gave me, paid attention to what was happening and what damage types were flying around, and switched accordingly. I didn't know that was unusual or hard to pull off, but apparently the idea of a character that isn't tailored to do a single thing is rare?
@@aprinnyonbreak1290 You're actually doing it right, as one would benefit from analyzing the system in place, determining what's an efficient yet enjoyable setup and then emerge yourself in the experience. From day one I created a unique build for ER which was my first souls game and then treated this openworld rpg like I was in a FPS Action RPG and have been having a blast since day one while also remaining highly competitive.

@@aprinnyonbreak1290 @aprinnyonbreak1290 Weirdly enough I think that's the way FromSoftware intended you to play the game. There are a lot of spells, weapons, weapon buffs that are just generally unused because they're situational. Being good is not about dissing all these weapons, rather just discovering when is the time of these situations these weapons could shine.
Simple example: a flame art-infused great stars will always outperform the cranial candlestand. Both are greathammers, but the infused GS has interchangeable ashes, innate bleed, infusable/buffable... just by these stats most people would instantly consider the candlestand an unworthy garbage. Yet in many situations that same weapon with its usually unwieldy ash can trivialize tough bossfights. Every single endgame avatar/tree spirit goes up in flames once you launch the ash, the bigger the enemy is the more damage they do.

I don't remember all of them, but I know I had 40 intelligence and faith, cuz they told me about the softcap, a bit over 20 strength, attunement, dex, and vigor. I only put one point into the stamina stat before learning it was literally one point of stamina, so didn't do that again, and I think I had put two or three points into equipment load, and didn't touch luck.
But I didn't really focus on putting points into intelligence and faith until quite a bit later, they were basically on par with the others until, I think around Irythill is when those stats really started pulling ahead, and starting Farron I remember my dex was highest, followed by Faith was tied, cuz I wanted the spear from the curse rotted greatwood.
It was actually the Dark Hand that pushed me that way, cuz it gave just as good damage off of int and faith, and clobbered most shield enemies, and then the Onyx Blade kinda sealed it once I dipped into the DLC out of curiosity after I did Archdragon Peak.
In summary:
Archery builds are not the problem. Most of the PvP community simply needs to git gud, and maybe seek treatment for that grass/sunlight allergy.
Grass alergy is fixed by playing Demon's souls

The other problem is they refuse to be flexible. If something doesn't work, trying something else usually does.
A slight breeze would break reddit. Fun thing about it is that you don't even need to do like them with the usual "kys", you just need to wait for the elements to do it due to how fragile they are
Archery builds actually working in PvP? No way! Impossible! Lol. That aside, I think archery is fun myself but if people took the time to be extra aggressive, save when someone uses a short bow I guess they won't have time to knock an arrow.

A host I was helping a few weeks ago actually got invaded by that exact same sleep halberd menace you showcased in the arena, only difference was at the time he was mainly using a bleed halberd instead, while hard switching to every weapon in his inventory and spamming Greyolls Roar. He definitely had that one coming 💯

I remember randomly deciding to go try some ER dueling to see what it was like before the arenas were announced. Went over to Raya Lucaria with my spellblade build, fought like 6 different people over and and over again. By far my favorite to fight against was the lone pure archer, she forced me to play completely differently and swap to stuff that was low commit+low damage and just chip her to death between blocking and dodging. Went from getting lmao'd to pretty consistently beating her.
Adapt or die.
Redditors and discord mods will complain about not having enough build diversity in PvP and then slam dunk archer builds for playing something unique
SO a reddit mod for the ER reddit page promotes cheating to deal with a perfectly reasonable in-game build that doesn't use exploitative tactics (as in exploiting glitches) that you can easily counter with regular ingame mechanics anyway?

Yep, watching this video after posting it reminded me exactly of Donghuap. I remember the first video I watched of him: "How to deal with Darius". Cool thing is that you also found about your champ's weaknesses when watching him. I miss his content, but sadly I don't play League anymore.
The fact that this build has so many counters and people still complain shows you how many hate originality, i personally respect this dude for doing something so creative, this is the kind of crap games should always allow you to play.
This guy is an absolute Chad. Not only for playing with Keyboard and mouse but with archery build and free aiming.
I personally hate Kodey, after killing me for the 19th time he forgot to remove his hat and bow down. literally the most toxic thing any player has done in elden ring.
I think crossbows are really weak even with maximum upgrades. I wanted to try sword crossbow combo and the damage that crossbow do just put me of 🥴 I am taking brake from Elden ring since I started Elden ring I spent like 500 hours on it and the world is starting to be small for me now I guess I come back to it when the DLC will come out 🥰
it also depends on how bad the people you fight against in pvp are, i made a bard build that had the aristocrat set, varre's bouquet and the harp bow with the shiny rock arrows, i proceeded to just jump shoot a RoB spammer into oblivion without taking damage with normal lock on

I made a 'DS3' build. Sword and board+crossbow and put arrow sting on. Yea it isn't amazing damage, but it wasn't that great in DS3 either. Used more as a finishing/harassing tool-though I feel the free aim on that thing got worse (no zoom in, just firing from the hip). Its great though at hitting corners with little recovery time.
The pully cross bow it’s pretty dope. Can be very damaging as well. Lot of different ammunition as well.
@Razruer there is a dead zone kinds thing in elden ring. A range where it doesn't matter how up or down you look it will auto correct to aiming perfectly straight. Super lame.
I thought you gonna talk about the Greatbow and Golem's Great Arrow, which does massive damage with Rain of Arrows, but oh boy, I didn't expect to see this amazing playstyle with a bow! The last time I ever used bows it was in DS2. This dude is a madlad, and he have my respect!

I fought a bow guy once. I was on my shield goblin setup and we had a grand old time doing absolutely fuckall to each other for the match. He could only really get a hit when I tried to use my shield cannon, and I couldn't catch up to the wiggly bastard

As a fulltime PVE-er, this playstyle is so damn cool. I wanna run a robinhood build next, fast paced bow and arrow shooting.
The last Reddit comment has me confused as all hell. How are you gonna complain about people hard-swapping (if you're able to menu juggle in a fight, they're either not applying enough pressure or playing passively) while willingly using a self-imposed loadout and then say people should be forced to play while restricted from the inventory screen because it suits you? You're already doing something against your own convenience. lmao
As an actual bow enjoyer in pve and fellow tf2 player, the work this man has done to make bow work in pvp is low-key inspiring.

The thing about people who cling on to the meta is they tend to view any other style as a lesser and underestimate it. That also means that when they inevitably lose to it at least once, the whiplash of them going from overconfident to getting destroyed makes them go absolutely ballistic. It’s truly a interesting thing.
I haven't played any this year, but I still love my rotten axe waves of darkness setup. Probably too slow for any pvp but good CC and damage
The important is not wining, its to have fun with the build and weapon you like, just enjoy the flow of combat, thats the true treasure of this game. Too slow for 1v1 duel? Thats ok play coop or make 2v2 matches with the invation system. I played a year ago and im returning now, the game its great right now.

Definitely the most annoying thing is how getting headshotted takes away any control you have over your character, and it always feels horrible.
It essentially does the same that sleep arrows do, only with a lot more hurdles to go through. Cody's pretty skilled nonetheless for pulling that off.

Great colab :D I will say, for what they do, and to what they expose themselves, archers deserve to deal that much dmg. Heck, kodey plays them the ultra-hard way, should at least be rewarding sometimes.
I would normally hate this build but consedering that arena players have a mental breakdown everytime they see a build that isn't str, dex or faith, I see no problem with it plus it's easy to counter and makes the turbo tryhards mald ☠️☠️

Im currently playing a Legolas build in elden ring ( only Pve though) and its really fun and even strong if you play with status effekts
So, in total, there are 3-4 ways that just immediately shut this entire build down, the build has an incredibly high skill floor, and also requires a lot of farming of materials and ammo between fights, and yet this, *this* is the thing that people are upset about, which causes people to say "You should **** yourself" and other things, as well as pulling out actual cheats/glitches in game that are harder to pull off than equipping one of the 3-4 things that shut it down, but not the hundreds of broken builds that require less skill, and deal more damage with little to no counter-play. These kinds of redditor type people are the reason i don't play PvP in these games.
I hope this channel and Ranni will exist for years to come
I made a pharis from dark souls 1 cosplay build recently and I loved it. Also the anti lock on is not a glitch the magic sorcery and ash are already upposed to do that baseline but don't work properly so you HAVE to pair them.

I tried a bow build (group of friends made a LotR group in ER, I'm Legolas), and it suuuuuuucks early on. I commend him for making the bow work that well.

TBH i have nothing but praise for archer builds whenever i go against one. its so much fun to try to think ahead and outmaneuver them.
the archer build is more for duels than invasions, you can even counter the arrows with "spinning strikes", literally the worse version of wild strikes...
the unique thing i hate about archer builds, is that they usually go with sleep arrows and low weight... 2 two of the most hated mechanics...
but the thing that this dude brings it to another level is really amazing.
There's also Storm Wall parry, it'd be funny if it could send arrows back towards the archer ;)
@@justaquietpeacefuldance i mean tbf, both are bad, one is so slow, and the other one is unorthodox to use, because you have to use it in the exact moment the opponent is firing.
at least with spinning strikes you can use it with weapon with anti-air movesets such as the night raider halberd.
also quick thing, with spinning strikes while in the spinning animations you can use a lot of inputs, rolling, jumping, crouching, consumables, blocking, even you can cast spells/incantations.
I haven't done a bow build yet, but I have done crossbow. Didn't think people had their panties in a twist over pewers
Tbh... ive never really used bows in souls games. Its time to change that and go with the bow only pve challenge, since bows seem stronger than ever.
Oh, cause getting stunlocked by the 50th blood frost build is somehow more fun than getting shot to death by something that could be mitigated with by a quick swap to a damn shield

Back when we dueled more at mag, i fought one archer that beat me a couple time. Ive always respected how different a playsyle it was. My favorite duel was a tie against someone with st trinas torch, it was so legit.

Bows are wild, bows honestly arent that bad unless you add light rolls into it. Pretty balanced other wise tbh
Great bows are sortve annoying with certain great arrows but tbh light and heavy bows can get stuffed hard with shields, a decent hp regen or boluses
Yeah the hatred for now build is mostly not for skilled players who free aim but people who just sleep arrow + lightroll. It’s not exactly the bow’s issue but rather lightroll’s
Greatbow is just another problem man, it can literally reaction trade against most setups
Here's a simple and not-cheaty way to deal with a lightroll archer. Swift Glintstone Shard... That's it. Just equip a medium sheild, a staff, and this spell, and next time you see an archer, stunlock them with the bullet spam.

in a game with such grand incantations and sorceries, with massive pikes it's the bow that makes people upset
This Dude uses a bow better than any fromsoft enemy or npc ever has, its kind of astounding we never got a trick-shot archer as a boss (We're not gonna talk about Sekiro, though that boss IS cool having ONE move that uses a bow does not make it an archer boss)
Theres so much cool potential for a boss moveset around this. It doesn't even have to be an annoying zoner type fight, you can still make him strong at close range, but just strongest at long range.😅
Give him a grab attack where he chucks you into the air and shoots you out of the sky with a follow up shot
I'm actually playing a bow/consumable only build right now and it's the hardest build I've ever played. I'm by no means a A-tier player, but I am in awe at how well he plays his bow. This game is so versatile
These archer mains should play AC 6. They would rock it.
I don't play with bows, though I do use shields to more or less complete my builds. Ex: One of builds combines banished knight from dragon communion with crucible knight. Basically, crucible tail incantation with fire breath. I use Halbert with blackflame tornado and typically have the crucible shield.
That moment you get distracted trying to remember where you've heard the background music but keep drawing a blank. x.x

It is common sense to just use a shield against an archer. These aren’t the Anor Londo archers. You can just use a shield or use the items that prevent headshots. So stop being little babies and man up.
I usually carry a shield in most of my builds since theres so many enemies with ranged attacks in inconvenient areas while exploring, though i'll spare hard-blocking in pvp as it leaves you vunerable for a critical should they drain your endurance.
Honestly, im shocked that archer got so much hate. Yes as a melee guy like me its annoying to fight (in my side, its more the fact my opponent constantly running away from me) but its so weak and so easy to deal. Just run around them. Nobody do freeaim with their bow so they almost never touch me with their arrows. There so much counter to it. But people seems to refuse any adaptation or whats so ever.

I'm boggled to be honest, When I've encountered archers in PVP they always used legitimate strategies to defeat me and some managed to pull it off (true that I wasn't protecting myself with a shield but It's my playstyle normally) However I find engaging to equip storm parry to deflect arrows with a small shield, because It allows you to be aggressive while negating the staggers and damage, thus allowing for a very dynamic encounter.
A fun match up, unlike bloodhound step users or magic and bloodhound spammers.
