Fire and dex build have physical, faith has fire and holy, intelligence has cold I guess. It’s almost as if someone messed up

I tried katanas, straight swords, greatswords, spears, greatspears, fists and claws (all single and dualwielding, all on NG and NG+1 (I use merchant mod, so I used the strongest of each class in both hands when needed)) and only claws were any good and/or satisfying, and others felt like overrated trash. Any idea, what I should try next?

side note added in edite: does throwing pots that apply poison/rot/oil, actually apply "wet" for lightning? another amazing video, tho may i ask that you spread the word more about fire damage and *why* someone would use it? something you didn't mention but nearly showed, when lightning spear is fully charged before you throw it, it'll actually apply *two* instances of lightning, one on impact, and then a small bolt from the sky that hits through the target...NOW APPLY THE WATER PUDDLE UNDER THEM...yeah a charged lightning spear hits three times.. also may i ask that you go into a talk about fire damage, how it may be the best damage for PURE Faith builds (the irony), or that you can either reverse/even further reduce fire resistance on an enemy if you use Oil Pots (which tbf, you get access to that recipe early in the playthroughs) although tbf making videos like this for each of the elements/attributes is just great! keep em up!
To all the people saying "It's not Earth Magic, since it does physical damage" in reference to Stone of Gurraq, Cragblade, etc, what is the context where earth damage wouldn't be physical in any game/media(not just Elden Ring)? Fire, Lightning, Magic, and Holy are all energy(that is, either some intangible force or constructs made from said intangible force) based, where as using Earth to attack literally involves hitting a target with a physical object.
Pretty well rounded but i think lightning scorpion charm is incredibly op if you equip godfrey icon, ritual sword, ritual shield, and lightning scorpion charm. All the dmg increase is negated and even nullified by the ritual shield. You can enter the arena with a buff like crab or prawn and commanders standard ash, use the physick that increases lightning damage, and also use something like the fp use negation talisman and spam 4 bolts of gransax ... bosses usually die with the buffed lightning in first flask with the scorpion charm. Without the charm, they usually require you to run around , switch to a lightning colossal like zwei for a few swipes.
Lightning Scorpion NOT worth it, 100% agreed. I've taken a couple different stabs at making Lightning-damage specialist builds and in pretty much all cases, I found that the universal increase in Lightning damage was not only not worth the damage tradeoff, but also just strictly worse than buffs like Shard of Alex, Flock's Canvas, and so forth :( Also, the presence of exactly 0 faith-scaling Lightning weapons makes me Big Sad. Fingers crossed for the DLC.
At this point, i genuinely wonder why they would put fire affinity to infuse our weapon with, it has so many downsides with only some redeemable features, especially when it's clear that lightning is the favored of the 2 or even the others.
Been debating what build to make for my new char in prep for shadow of erdtree. (don't want to go in with my world 3 guy. used arcane dragon build with twinblades first, death sorcery with Helphen's steeple for 2nd clear if you were curious.) might go lightning this time :)
You see, in the previous games, you used to not be able to buff an infused weapon. This is why a lightning longsword with lightning slash does so much damage, you are basically putting lightning blade on a lightning weapon. The elemental damage in this game is also not as negligible, it hurts. Previously the only way you could get a buff on a weapon with an infusion was by tumble buffing, so now instead it’s just *a thing you can do*. makes sense cause ER got them big numbers on big enemies.
Really good detail informations and since I’m not a native english speaker, but I can understand your pronunciation very well. But did you forget to mention credit for Fextralife too?
Dragonclaw shield 76% and fingerprint shield 79% negation are (heavy and late game items) but high level protection. Marred heavy wooden shield 50% (stormveil castle) or spiralhorn shield 39% (ruined labyrinth site area) if carry load is an issue.
Some other lightnig incartations are decent too, not op or strong af, but with using brain it can be critical for the enemy in pvp (overworld) in the area before "hogwarts". Rani of wisdom, do you want to make a funny rage video again? I saw some dude who mean the spectral AoW is the best AoW ( says the title and his kills are cut by defeating bosses with it xD). Bs in my opinion, but your content gives informations ( i know a lot, but learn from you some new things 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻). And with the words of seath in dark souls in summary, i say : lightning.
On the note of avatar. I still get kinda bummed we don't have a quarter staff in the twinblade category or something since this is the easier game to get the appropriate 'elements' Storm ashes Fire and lightning are super accessible Tossing rocks is a blast, and if you wanna get super tricksy you can use the hardening flask for metal bending and mogs spear/ blood fists with a non physical ash for blood bending. For the ultimate flex make your aang finish fights with unendurable Frenzy to emulate blocking the fire lords abilities/spirit bending If you wanna go a step further on spirit bending grab the infants skull or maybe the regal horn. There's actually enough options now that every avatar build doesn't have to be the same.
wow thanks! I don't know why ppl find it so hard to say Dex = Lightning Weapons, Faith = Lightning Incantations....everyone has to be weird and explain whole equations instead. Thanks again!
Hmm, quality build that powerstances with a fire weapon in one hand and a lightning weapon in the other. The mix of physical, fire, and lightning would allow you to exploit a big chunk of weaknesses while bypassing a big chunk of resistances. I'll have to try this some time. Also, why does holy defense scale with Arcane? Why not make holy defense scale with Faith and lightning defense scale with Arcane? Don't most dragon spells require Arcane to cast?
Would you ever consider doing an overall video covering why or how Souls PvP is just kinda toxic in the way that it is. Because I'm used to playing other PvP games with toxicity but I don't think I've ever seen a community quite as unique as something in souls. Where every new entry has the "worst PvP to date" and things were "better in the last game" despite people complaining about it then. With a community that collectively bullies any kind of comabt diversity in an RPG and makes up stupid rules that they want you to follow despite those not actually being the rules of the game. Also the community's constant balancing requests for things that don't need to be changed (which I know is standard for games) while being completely apathetic to the like 90% of the playerbase who doesn't do the PvP and had to be stuck with those changes. Because I had a similar experience in my time since Doom Eternal released but with the difference being that because the PvP was incredibly bad nobody cared about or played it and we didn't have a strangely vocal part of the community that was convinced if the devs didn't fix battlemode the game would be dead in a matter of months.

Fire combines with oil
Lightning zappy frames+water bonuses in some games
Magic is just whoosh laser
holy says no to skeletons.
frostbite is water
wind stuff is around it deflects arrows
gurranq's spells is earth
"What? You want a prize or something?"
Yes. Please do what you did last video.
🦶
Don’t know what they were thinking with this. Just attach elemental defences to each offensive stat. Fire - STR, Magic - INT, Lightning - DEX, Holy - FAI
Completely fair and rewards people playing attention, everyone has an alternative. Fire and dex build have physical, faith has fire and holy, intelligence has cold I guess. It’s almost as if someone messed up
Isn't Gravity a Element? Wouldn't that be your earth element?
Nope, we are talking damage types. Gravity counts as magical damage.
Gravity spells and some Beast incantations use Rocks, but it deals physical dmg and the joke was about the 4 element dmg. So yesn´t.
Still trying to figure out why ancient lightning spear is unique to gransax and not a dragon cult incantation. Please explain Ranni
Lightning Incantations are fun, but why can't I find a decent lightning weapon?
Dude earth magic sounds radical. The closest we got is gravity. Could be seen as a force of earth
Doesn’t the protection incantations provide less defense in pvp as of a few updates ago? Like down to 30% or less right?
yes fortifications give you 10% damage reduction "more stronger ones" give you 15%. consumables 10%
Aunt Ranni, what is your favourite PVE weapon/build?
I tried katanas, straight swords, greatswords, spears, greatspears, fists and claws (all single and dualwielding, all on NG and NG+1 (I use merchant mod, so I used the strongest of each class in both hands when needed)) and only claws were any good and/or satisfying, and others felt like overrated trash. Any idea, what I should try next?
"Pokemon trainer: Ashes only and heal them with miracles "
We need a dex + faith weapon in the dlc to take lightning builds even further.
Well and another Weaponsash i didn't know of ... after a 1000hs ... #goesgoogelinglightningslash 😅
this actually really helps out
i literally never knew that water DECREASES lighting defense like holy shit thats big my faith is like 80 so my lightning incants do fuckin big boy damage
It is rather weird that leveling Faith does not increase your lightning resistance.
I am here great vid mom… waifu
Honestly lightning incantations are absolutely fun to use in PvP I do not care what people say they're not viable. Lightning incantation Chad's rise up.
thay are viable i have dragon cult caster character and it's works fine.
my friend let me watch yt on his computer so i subbed and turned notifications on.
I do not know Ranni, I have to consult with The Elder Gods about this one.
3:23 was that... a sonichu reference?
pog
Rusty: Fire damage is great
Waifu: Fire damage sucks
The duality of men
Small mistake there is Guranq's Rock throw.
I believe the lightning is the only element impossible to get without killing with other non-lightning means
But that counts as physical damage, I pressume.
@@OnlyWaifuYT my mistake then. thought you meant any earth incantation.
Well, i was thinking of going for a dex/spear run in my next fresh run through the game, might as well go dex/lightning while i'm at it.
Good info, but maybe in a future character, for now I'll stick with Strenght build having fun with PS fire Short sword + fire Longsword / heavy Broadsword (I dislike using the same weapons in both hands, for me it's asthetic + good viability > meta).
BAHAHAH I AM DEX ARCANE. DROPPING ROPED LIGHTNING POTS ON THE GANKMANS.
Honey wake up, new onlywaifu video
No mention of lightning arrows on water. A good black bow user will almost always win. Mathematically in pvp it’s better to use black flame protection rather than golden lightning fortification unless they recently rebuffed the elemental barriers.
dont you dare besmirch the wonder of Pastrami
All I got from this is some elements are better for bonk then others
Also auntie Ranni is the only person that I listen to anymore because she is the funnies
I forget which one but its pretty lame that the seal that buffs lightning incantations doesn't have dex scaling like the strength oriented one does.
Have you ever played Nioh or Nioh 2?
Never, sadly
@@OnlyWaifuYTmissing out. Excellent game and you can create top tier waifu’s in it(Nioh 2 anyway)
Making a prediction prior to watching: Is it like how DS2 lightning was resisted by less enemies and effects rendering lightning the strongest elemental damage type?
Yep. Just like DS2.
Missed by a mile lol
@@OnlyWaifuYT Saw a few similarities to DS2: water nerfing fire and buffing lightning(only -15% def), infusing your lightning weapon with lightning damage and buffing it with lightning damage for gigawatt hours, clutch ring is a trap unless you like getting one tapped, although the closest thing to cracked tear was goldenfruit balm(only+5 faith).
Thank the god of death that us strength folks have access to the new death knight axes for some lightning damage. Sure we need to invest in faith, but I rather do that than look at that filthy dex stat. Ew.

@charleshastings7260 🤦♂️
I love my lighting dex build. I mained it for a while last year and remade it after 1.10 dropped. probably the best build
If you use something like rotten breath till it procs on an enemy then use, lightning, does it do more? Or is it only physical environmental wet+lightning? That makes the lightning do more?
Me playing a game as I listen*
"There are many ways to inflict these damages- hostile working environments"
*Does a double take and sees an add for employment lawyers started* the fucking timing of that lmfao
3:41 understandable.
*But how a out I do it anyway?*
Didn’t realize people didn’t like lightning. I thought it was quite good but the only real lightning weapon I used is that frost lightning sword you get in the big rot lake, Took me that long in the game to finally swap off the katana I started with because it was just so damn good.
It was really hit or miss back in the early days of ER because of the ashes/spells that utilize lightning had next to no hyper armor.
Lightning also carries some stigma from the dark souls games. They nerfed it all to hell and made a lightning/faith build a slog.
That Frost/lightning Katana was actually very good tho, the ashe of war is actually very good on PvE (3 part damage comming very fast, it stagger most ennemies). Loved that weapon honestly
There is earth bending in Elden Ring!
Behold, every beast incant that isn’t bestial vitality
And I guess there’s air bending too if you use ashes of war
What about those Lighting/Frost weapons? I think the early game halbeard one is a great early game PVP/PVE weapon
Dunno. I beleive late game normal lightning halberds probably outscale the frost effect with less weight, and most things die before the effect activates.
now am a lightning abuser
I don't even play elden ring, but I love your videos so much. It never fails to make me break down laughing. Genuinely 50% of the reason I'm gonna cop elden ring is because of your vids. Please keep them up. ❤
you honestly should it is AMAZING
Once again, Bolt of gramsnax is the best lightning weapon for a lightning dex build but not nearly as op as the bleed frost nagakiba on any build.
You forgot about anchent lightning strikes I kill maliceth by casting I once
Because this is a pvp channel and only idiots get hit by it in PvP
Physical damage is the earth element
side note added in edite: does throwing pots that apply poison/rot/oil, actually apply "wet" for lightning?
another amazing video, tho may i ask that you spread the word more about fire damage and *why* someone would use it?
something you didn't mention but nearly showed, when lightning spear is fully charged before you throw it, it'll actually apply *two* instances of lightning, one on impact, and then a small bolt from the sky that hits through the target...NOW APPLY THE WATER PUDDLE UNDER THEM...yeah a charged lightning spear hits three times..
also may i ask that you go into a talk about fire damage, how it may be the best damage for PURE Faith builds (the irony), or that you can either reverse/even further reduce fire resistance on an enemy if you use Oil Pots (which tbf, you get access to that recipe early in the playthroughs)
although tbf making videos like this for each of the elements/attributes is just great! keep em up!
So the color of the lightning doesn't have any special properties, like fire does for Black Flame and Death Flame?
Theese videos are amazing and they keep coming at a very good pace, great job!
The only other video I've watched on elemental damage just said that pure lightning sucks and fire destroys everything lol
>There is no earth element in Elden Ring.
Gravity sorceries and beastman incantations: "Are we jokes to you?"
0:54 hoooly common waifu W for including ben 10
Does anyone know how does he make the ranni sound is it an app or he just voice act it
70% sure their using ElvenAI And cloning the voice
the memes🤣🤣🤣🤣
To all the people saying "It's not Earth Magic, since it does physical damage" in reference to Stone of Gurraq, Cragblade, etc, what is the context where earth damage wouldn't be physical in any game/media(not just Elden Ring)? Fire, Lightning, Magic, and Holy are all energy(that is, either some intangible force or constructs made from said intangible force) based, where as using Earth to attack literally involves hitting a target with a physical object.
I will forever be your little cheesecake! ❤
"Zapping to the extreme" Chris would be so proud
Makes me almost miss lightning stake from DS3 yeah let me see you hyper armor through this
Pretty well rounded but i think lightning scorpion charm is incredibly op if you equip godfrey icon, ritual sword, ritual shield, and lightning scorpion charm. Without the charm, they usually require you to run around , switch to a lightning colossal like zwei for a few swipes.
song at 3:27?
Lightning Scorpion NOT worth it, 100% agreed.
I've taken a couple different stabs at making Lightning-damage specialist builds and in pretty much all cases, I found that the universal increase in Lightning damage was not only not worth the damage tradeoff, but also just strictly worse than buffs like Shard of Alex, Flock's Canvas, and so forth :(
Also, the presence of exactly 0 faith-scaling Lightning weapons makes me Big Sad.
Rick sling can be considered a earth element maybe gravity magic too
Really good detail informations and since I’m not a native english speaker, but I can understand your pronunciation very well.
I still get kinda bummed we don't have a quarter staff in the twinblade category or something since this is the easier game to get the appropriate 'elements'
Storm ashes
Fire and lightning are super accessible
Tossing rocks is a blast, and if you wanna get super tricksy you can use the hardening flask for metal bending and mogs spear/ blood fists with a non physical ash for blood bending.
For the ultimate flex make your aang finish fights with unendurable Frenzy to emulate blocking the fire lords abilities/spirit bending
If you wanna go a step further on spirit bending grab the infants skull or maybe the regal horn.
