    Welcome to the party, pal...
Don't sweat the tears. I've been all about this album since release day in 2018, and Ruby Pool gets me every single time. To me, it's songwriting perfection, a liminal space in sound.
Here's hoping these guys wind up on your personal playlist moving forward. They've got a couple early EPs(both quite good), three full-length LPs (all stellar), and we're two singles into the release cycle for album number four this fall. Those show they're still developing as musicians and as songwriters, and I can't wait for the rest. Happy listening...

Ruby Pool is my favorite VOLA song. I think their heavier stuff was best in Inmazes and since then they're at their best when they aren't trying that hard to please metalheads.

Thanks to this video, I'm now going to see them later in the year. I had no idea they existed- went and listened to this album and been binge listening since. Thank you!

@@PaulChapman-lx6rn You're in for a treat. Their live shows are fantastic. And if you're heading to one with The Intersphere as support, I envy you. Last year's Wanderer LP was magnificent, and their back catalog is jam-packed with gems. Sadly, I'm an ocean away...

@@markdorval7844 Thanks so much for this! Hand on heart looking forward to it. It's rare that a band immediately reaches me like that. Just had a look at the gig I'm going to and The Intersphere are supporting, so doubly excited now!

Love to hear it. Every single album they've produced is top tier. And unique.
VOLA to me is the peak of genuine art. No judgments, no preconceptions, no genre to fit into, no pre-ordained song structure. Just vibes. Just art.
      Welcome to the family

They are one of my favorite bands!! And yeah, such a nostalgic, melancholic feel to Ruby Pool....those lyrics, "I wanna wrap my arms around you" always hit hard for me. I am glad you're enjoying the album so far!

The Steven Wilson comparison shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as VOLA was inspired by an array of artists and influences, particularly from the prog and original British 70's Prog era (Pink Floyd) Also essentially co-headlined with various modern underground British prog bands via British Prog Invasion Tour. The musical influences are more noticeable compared to later releases of various progressive rock/metal bands at times, yet not to loose it's own identity, mix with varied prog metal and experimental elements: eg atmospheric sections, various time signatures. You've hear a ton of Porcupine Tree in their music. For me, it's most like Porcupine Tree and Pink Floyd with some Steven Wilson-esque lines here and there.
The dominance of British artists in the progressive rock era can be attributed to a combination of historical, cultural, and musical factors. Here are some reasons why British artists were so influential and dominant in this genre: Musical Innovation: British artists in the 1960s and 1970s were at the forefront of musical experimentation. Bands like Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer pushed the boundaries of rock music by incorporating elements of classical music, jazz, and other genres into their sound. This innovative approach helped define the progressive rock genre and set British artists apart from their peers.Strong Music Education: Britain has a long tradition of music education, with many musicians receiving formal training in classical music from a young age. This background in music theory and composition gave British artists the tools to create complex and sophisticated music that became a hallmark of progressive rock. Cultural and Historical Context: The progressive rock era coincided with a period of social and cultural change in Britain. The music of bands like Pink Floyd and Yes reflected the countercultural movements of the time and provided a soundtrack for a generation seeking to break away from traditional norms. This cultural context helped British artists connect with their audience on a deeper level. Supportive Music Industry: British artists in the progressive rock era benefited from a supportive music industry that was willing to take risks and invest in innovative music. Record labels like EMI, Virgin Records, and Charisma Records provided a platform for progressive rock bands to reach a wider audience and experiment with their sound. Collaboration and Cross-Pollination: The British music scene in the 1960s and 1970s was characterized by collaboration and cross-pollination between artists. Many musicians played in multiple bands or projects, leading to a sharing of ideas and influences that helped shape the sound of progressive rock. Global Influence: British artists in the progressive rock era had a global reach and influence. Bands like Pink Floyd and Genesis toured extensively and gained a following around the world, helping to popularize the genre internationally. The unique combination of factors in Britain, however, helped establish the country as a powerhouse in the progressive rock genre during this time.

Glad to see this. I started listening to them back in January. Inmazes is another great album by them. Quite a bit heavier.

Intéressant. Good discovery. This band makes pleasant tracks to the ears with a good combination of elements. I can understand why this track can make emotional.
