@@Spangelaa The thing with Nightwish is that they are the most successful Finnish band ever for a reason: they can appeal to a lot of different listeners. Think of their singles as gateway drugs to symphonic metal. People like you who are already hooked don't need them; you can start from their more serious stuff. A rule of thumb: although many of their shorter songs (like Romanticide) are heavy or otherwise non-poppish, every Nightwish song over 8 minutes long is at least ambitious if not your type of music. And live at Wacken 2013 is legendary.
Unfortunately for you, the Nightwish songwriter Tuomas Holopainen dislikes growling for the most part. He only writes growling into his songs when he's feeling angry and wants to emphasize his message. But he does have a female vocalist who can sing pretty much anything he asks her to. Growling included.

Then again, not really metal. More like 80's (hard) rock.
And like someone said earlier, Nightwish has a ton of different styles, even though symphonic metal is their backbone. You'd maybe like "Master Passion Greed" at least. Most likely "Your's Is An Empty Hope" too (with their current singer).

Hello fellow Aussie. I don't have a Finnish band for you, but I do have a band that is mixed in Finland by Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila. The band I'm referring to is LOVEBITES, a Japanese all-female heavy metal band. I genuinely believe they are the most musically talented metal band to appear in the last two decades, and I'd comfortably put them alongside Dream Theater and Symphony-X as the top 3 metal bands today in terms of pure technical musicianship. They won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best New Band, and have only gotten better since then. Their style has been described as a love letter to 1980s and early 1990s metal, and so any fan of legendary bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament etc. will probably also like LOVEBITES. They are currently touring the US and they played ProgPower USA in Atlanta Georgia yesterday.
My current favourite song from them is "Break the Wall", one of the best thrash songs I've heard. ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html Another amazing track from them is "Holy War" ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.html

      Yeah, another Aussie here.
Ne Obliviscaris are absolutely a great band, another very good one that may or may not be on your radar are Karnivool who do prog metal. If you're looking to hear them at their best, I'd recommend listening to the album "Sound Awake". In terms of sounding like other well-known bands, I'd say they're probably closest to The Porcupine Tree.
Parkway Drive are another Aussie metal band who are pretty popular here, but honestly I don't get that much out of their music - they're more commercially successful than NE and Karnivool (though songs off their first album *did* get airplay on Triple J a fair bit), but IMO musically PWD aren't as adventurous as the other two.

It's already clear that you prefer heavier music than many of the bands that I suggested in your first video. Finnish metal scene is pretty wide and most people prefer the lighter side but not you.

I agree with you about Emily Armstrong as the new singer in Linkin Park.
She is new and it will take a little time for her to find her feet and stamp her own authority.
Noora Luhimo the singer in Battle Beast is an amazing vocalist as well.

Exactly, that’s what I think too, she stepped into big shoes and would have absolutely known she was doing that before getting on stage. It’s become a huge debate and has spun out of control, it’s fine for people not to like her but the nastiness is uncalled for I think!
100% agreed, I’m trying to find more female singers that I love as most of the stuff I listen to is from male singers and her voice was amazing 🤩

House of Sleep got me into Amorphis. Now I never listen to it. They got much better stuff.
Mors Principium Est, Kalmah, and Bloodred Hourglass are usually faster, high-energy, and guitar driven. If you enjoyed COB you'll probably like these. Feel free to explore COB's first four albums, though.
For a deep cut how about De Lirium's Order - Autistic Savant. They're pretty intense.
Omnium Gatherum and Insomnium are kinda on the opposite spectrum of melodeath. Atmospheric, melody-focused, and sometimes clean vocals. Not my preferred style, but they got bangers, regardless.

@@Spangelaa it is actually legit metal music although the lyrical content is kids appropriate... And they put out a lot of stuff. At least at one point they were putting out a new album per year. They have had all sorts of visiting stars from the metal world play on their albums etc. I have lost touch as my kids have grown out of that phase, but it was quite entertaining while it lasted... Even for an older dude. Check out HeviSaurus "Riffi Raffin Tilubiisi"... The title track from that album "Räyh" is also a classic from them...
