S Y Z Y G Y X, is a obscure collaboration solo project duo (Josh Clark and Luna Blanc) that formed in 2017 of contemporary synth dark-post new-wave inspired from the original sub-genre which became prominent during the British synth-new wave era of mid-1980's. The 80’s were a turbulent time for electronic music technology. At the outset of the 80’s, synth-pop was made pretty much the same way any band was recorded - generally, someone played something on a keyboard while someone in the studio rolled tape and monitored the mixing board. Depeche Mode’s early demos and records were famously just three guys playing some budget keyboards while a tape rolled and Dave Gahan sang. Gary Numan/Tubeway Army was a rock band that just happened to have a Moog or two handy. There were a lot of different synths involved during the 80’s synthpop boom. The early days had a lot of stuff like the Roland System 100M, the various Moogs and ARPs on the market, small keyboards like the Yamaha CS01, and the Korg MS-10 and MS-20. Then there was a blossoming in the market and we saw more Sequential Prophets - the Pro-One, Prophet 5, 10, T-8, and 600. Roland put out the Jupiters and the Junos, which were everywhere for a while. Waldorf’s PPG was popular for a bit with some notable artists like Vince Clarke and Thomas Dolby. Then Yamaha hit the market with the DX7 and it's family and those completely dominated music production for a bit, although synth-pop didn’t absorb that quite as much as the others - a number of the heavy hitters had moved into sampling; Depeche Mode was famous for their use of E-mu Emulators and Emulator II’s, as were OMD and Pet Shop Boys. Fairlights showed up on anything produced by Trevor Horn. And then techno and house started to happen in the latter period of the 80’s and the technology and the recording processes changed, and the era of the “bedroom DIY producer” really began 🤘🏼 🇬🇧

It is kind of a concept album. I don't think this song was really representative of this record, even though Summoning is considered atmospheric black metal which is a soother version of "traditional" black metal, if such a thing exist. The most obvious thing is the vocals. Most of Summoning songs are sang with harsh vocal by a male singer, which obviously change the mood quite a bit. I think "A Distant flame before the sun" would have been a better choice as its definitely the most epic song on this record, as a closer would be. The most epic songs are probably on the "Let the mortal heroes sing your fame" record, if you ever want to lean on that side. For this song, you totally got it, its dark fantasy metal if you to go with movie or novel categories. Also the sound quality or the production, you got this on point too, its totally meant to be like that and some bands will have an even colder production, with very dry bass sound, or no bass at all sometimes. Summon the bishes 🤣 this next one is the most known track "Where Hope And Daylight Die" from album Stronghold (1999). Most of Summon's lyricism are inspired by English philologist J. R. R. Tolkien, with some tracks straight from poems. (I Sit Upon The Stones Alone). Summon also adapted lyrics from other authors, such as William Wordsworth and Sir Walter Scott, and some lyrics on "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" (2001) were inspired by Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion. Summon's cover album "Stronghold", was comprised from "The Bard" (1817) painting by English illustrator John Martin. Summon don't perform live, the only live private performance by Summon (Richard Lederer) a solo project from Richard Lederer (Protector from Summon). "Through The Mirror" from the album "Buried Silence" (2008). And once Summon have finished the tracks they never edit or play them again, focusing on next projects instead. Post debut album "Lugburz" (1995) Summon went from Black Metal to atmospheric metal? Epic metal? Ambient metal? Summon still classify themselves as "black metal" and most people go with it just to simplify things. The CD's from "Stronghold" onward were clipped. Vinyl editions, such as "Old Mornings Dawn", often got separate masters. Summon's vocals are mostly the typical Type-3 metal scream expected from Black Metal, but they use clean choirs on some albums (mostly performed entirely by Protector and Silenius). A good example is the title track of "Old Mornings Dawn". Additionally, one track, "Where Hope And Daylight Die", contains entirely clean singing from Protector's ex-girlfriend, Tania Borsky. Then there are tracks that somehow combine soprano and gravel into a single vocal line, as on tracks like "Long Lost To Where No Pathway Goes" and "Earthshine". This could be thought of as an unusual, almost unique combination of Type-3 and Type-4 🤘🏼 🇬🇧

A very tasty treat lol from the debut single track "The Global Cannibal" album (2003). The reissue remastered version was released to the public domain in 2005. A immersive production engineerd by Shane McGray! Post TGC, and contemporary BEL, there was a massive line-up change within BEL. The change consisted of Matt Tuite (guitar), Matt Garabedian (drums), and Mary Bielich (bass), thus making Dave Trenga (vocalist) the only member to be with BEL since the beginning. Dave Trenga had been active in another underground band from the 90's whom formed "Human Investment", only known album titled.. Invest Your Efforts Into Humanity's Struggle Or Be A Human Investment (1997). The BEL sub-genre, can be traced back to Bristol (UK). In the overdue 1970's and early 80's, Bristol bands like Disorder, Chaos UK, Lunatic Fringe, Amebix. Some underground musical genres never left their non-mainstream roots, such as jagged, aggressive UK 82-style hardcore punk bands like Discharge. Some underground styles eventually became mainstream, commercialized pop-styles, as did for example the underground hip hop style of the early 1980's. In the 2000's, the increasing availability of the Internet and digital music technologies has made underground music easier to distribute using streaming/digital platforms. In contemporary cultism “there is no underground” because the internet has made what was underground music accessible to everyone. The term “underground music” has been applied to various artistic movements, for instance the psychedelic music movement of the mid-1960's 🤘🏼 🇬🇧

I'd never thought we'd experience Thorr's Hammer HaHaHa. One of the few underground death-doom secret gems, featured Stephen O'Malley (SUNN 0))), and furture Sunn O))) members. Black Sabbath style tho only played slower with a female vocals, Gammelsaeter whom at the time was then the girlfriend of Isahn (Emperor). One of the unique featured product of Thorr’s Hammer’s only recorded release, the Thorr’s Hammer DommedaThorr's Hammergsnatt lol "Dommedagsnatt" album/E.P from 1996, with a few material, cassette and demo, also a live album, was all recorded the three tracks on the original 12” over a coThorr's Hammeruple of 2 nights then Gammelsaeter's visa expired and left, only too reunite for a one-off live shows between 2009-2010. They're all individually talented, each gets a chance to shine from every accessible instrumentation. That can be noticed by the playing style itself, the distinctive sounds of the instrumentations, very constructive track from start to finish the finer details is evident, you can tell they are very meticulous in every detail in the way they want to communicate their music respectively. The vocals Gammelsaeter produced is superior, a high octave range from her technique which are passionate/raw/emotion & powerful, an essential masterpiece, one for the archives. The intervals between the vocal transitions from aggressive death growl style to euphonious vocals like harmonies and melodies is euphoric. The lyrics very descriptive yet ambiguous and introspective. These bands would be classified as traditional doom metal, while other sub-genres, such as death/doom, and funeral doom, became recognized as forms of doom. Death doom is one of the meloholic corner and hybrid subgenre of metal. It involves ominous atmosphere of doom mixed with death rhythm. This style is associated with early 90's United Kingdom bands like Paradise lost,(most influential in death doom scene). The British style of death/doom metal was largely defined by Anathema, Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride in the early 90's. The best genre for Halloween.. mwahahaha 🤘🏼 🇬🇧

First time they played in my city, I got to meet them by the merch. We all spoke and hung out for a little. I told Nik that Open eye would be a great opening track for the setlist. Next time they came through they started with that. Pretty epic.

This was great.

I am pretty sure this band was formed when the vocalist went to the US for a year to study abroad in 1996, so she was just a student back then. They formed the band, recorded a demo and an EP and after she left the US, the band split. From what I can see they did record a live set in 2010 as well, but I am sure she is pretty busy. Part of the band went of to form a bunch of other doom and drone doom bands over time, like Burning Witch, Khanate and Sunn O))) to name a few. Both guitarists have created a LOT of projects over the years.
