As someone who has searched 100s of houses for work. People should be aware of light blindness. If you light up the inside of a structure with something with crazy high lumens, you're going to hamper your own vision. Inside anything between 600-800 is more than plenty. Outside, anything up to 1200 is more than enough. Just my experience and opinion
I concur
Not too long ago 60 and 120 lumens was enough per Surefire 😀
@@TobyCostaRicaLol…that was a long time ago.
I agree, most guy who buy these are just into the flashlight hobby and 'want' more and more lumens for fun..i have a acebeam pokelit with 550lumens (high cri) and its plenty enough for general edc
Still invaluable for saving one or someone else's life in a self-defense standpoint or life-threatening situations!
Some assailants who are drugged up are resistant or unfazed by pepper sprays or even tasers!
They will never be able to resist a 6500 lumen strobe and that works better when they are drunk or high to induce dizziness and vomitting!
And this many lumens is crucial in broad daylight to have such effects!
Those folks at Nitecore don't mess around! Great review!
Just found this channel yesterday and already a huge fan! I was looking for a review of this exact light just now as well. Thanks for the great content
Quickly becoming a big fan of this channel 👍🏼
Me and you both
Ordered the EDC 29. The 27 is going on eBay. I wish they made a "deep carry" clip. Nitecore has the tightest pocket clips ever. I also have an EDC33...the tight clip along with the knurled body...is a pocket shredder.
I’ve been an Olight guy for a minute. I just shared your review with The Wife with the description- Christmas Idea… Thank you for the review.
Will buy this flashlight due to its strobe function crucial for self-defense and in life-threatening situations!
Only reason is it is brighter and has longer throw than the great P20IX's strobe mode in lumens!
Thanks x. Just got the new Olight arkfield now just ordered this lol.
Same here. Currently waiting on both of them. Excited for the EDC29 brightness.
Why is nobody besides Fireflies using a magnetic USB C cover? Those covers are sick 🔥
I need to check that out
Just gifted my edc27 to my nephew, and updated to the edc27 uhi, then this drops 😒. Now I wish, I had waited a week or two.
Ip54 water resistance. Blehhhh
the worst part about these is the ratings, only 1 meter impact resistance and IP54 water, on par with smartphones
Do you think it's worth getting if I already have the 27 uhi? I really like how slim the 27 uhi is. Will the 29 be felt more easily over the 27's profile?
nope. 27UHI is great.
The EDC29 is only waterproof up to IP54, which is useless in the rain.
Are those lanyards bought or homemade?
They come with the light.
Yeah they come with the light. But I have a pre production version so hopefully it's included with orders
The link to the edc29 doesn't work.
It won't work until tomorrow. I released the video for members today
I have the EDC 27. I find the UI on it absolutely mind numbing. I'm a real quick forgetter so I never carry the flashlight cuz it's too complicated. 😅😅 I was all in on the 29 up until you showed the size comparison. A flashlight of its size needs a holster/pouch IMHO.
i can concur with holster part. But i will say in my pocket over the last few weeks, it was ok except when lounging on a couch on my back
wish it was reverse clipped to be able to put on a hat bill, first world problems lol
I concur 😂
IMO they are totally going the wrong direction here. The biggest issue with the 27 and the 25 has been the massive size. It's too long for most of my pockets. You can't clip it on because it doesn't fit deep enough. If they made one that was 3/4 of this size or even 2/3 I would buy a couple of them. But this is impossible EDC. I had the arcfeld for a while and it was so big that it did not feel any different than a warrior mini 3. Now that I found the trustfire X3 mini, I have a flat flashlight that I can carry everyday.
There is a rumor that they are making a small version following the design of the EDC27. Like 2/3 of the size.
@@mmarkos84 hope so
@@west-Co_exploration nightwalker gear has one already. In his edc29 video from a few weeks ago it's sitting on the table in front of him. Just hasn't been released yet
Hate the if you want full brightness you lose strobe, that really sucks
Im not a fan of those tiny screws. My Tini still works after a few years but its wraped in aluminium tape (adhesive tape). My TUP resisted well because i painted it with Raptor (trunk paint). I did that after i noticed the bad shape of the Tini.
Now id unscrew one screw at the time and put some adhesive on it.
You’re great and to the point man. I love coming here on new shit because i know you just tell the truth. And give your honest opinion. Thank
you.
A test form my EDC29
6500 lumens can operate around 7secs
3000 lumens can operate around 10 secs
Nitecore needs to make weapons lights
Thank you. This was really helpful for me.
The 6500 mode needs to stay on longer!
The Thing is a Beast...
Thinking of buying this one mostly for the larger battery and mostly using the lower lumens . Great explanatory video as always thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Your “rucking” was smooth & fast…almost looked like a bike ride, it was so smooth…and fast. 🤨
That footage was sped up times 12x
I honestly can't understand people buying all these "tv remote" shaped lights... Do they really consider reading the technical data before buying?
(1) Nitecore EDC27, EDC25 and now EDC29 offer impossible outputs with almost no runtime. They take built-in batteries like headlamps with low capacity but then crafted with powerful leds & drivers. That means TURBO and HIGH are useless.
Would you buy an 8 cylinder engine car that uses a scooter's tank?
That's the main problem, but not the only one.
(2) Why led screens on EDC flashlights? To be scratched.
(3) Why built-in batteries? You can't replace it so you buy another flashlight.
(4) Rectangular shape fits better on the hand than circular? Actually not.
They always use the same trick:
"Hey, flashlight freak! You don't have this one! Look, there's something new, you want it? You buy it."
I like the direction that they took with edc25 with the no touch screen. Def an improvement.
And i like the idea of the yet to be announced shorter edc23 (nightwalker gear has one already it's on the table in front of him in his edc29 review)
Last major concern is the built in battery.
I just bought an arkfeld ultra but they have lifetime warranty so if the battery were to die I'd send it back for them to fix or replace.
If I buy a Nightcore it will be the edc35
I don't like the idea that my flashlight will be paperweight once the battery goes kapput in a couple years
Love the edc lights as a whole, but hate the buttone. I'm a bigger guy and would constantly activate the light in my pocket, mostly in my truck or sitting. For that reason, I had to stop carrying it and ended up going with the arkfeld light. If they redesigned the switch assembly, to reduce AD, it would be on my side everyday.
Looks like a great little flashlight. Just bought the EDC 29 Thanks for the review.
You and MaxLvlEDC have convinced me to get something with a momentary on tail switch
I've been thinking about getting a flat flashlight, will look into this new one
I have the EDC35 and it doesn't step down like this bad. Takes about 15 seconds to step down but you can spam it many times until it burns your hand LOL. Go with the EDC35 fellas. Large 6000mah battery, twist to cover usb port, great heat dissipation, and much cheaper than this.
I like the EDC33 so I assume the 35 is great too
@@MarineX you gotta try it!
So basically the flashlights uncomfortable when you're wearing girly jeans so no problem for me
