I’ve made my own for $370 approximately. With what I deem to be the best tools. With redundancy and utility maximization. Shelter, water, fire, defense , nutrition, first aid , construction tools and communication. Suitable for wild and urban environments. The number one tool is your mind. Thinking and knowledge are your primary survival tools.
Love the updated video bro been following since ur first break down of this kit and I’ve been saving for a while for one and value ur opinion and thankful you decided to review it again hopefully green will stay in stock for a bit longer for me
I already have a GHB made up and I'm currently building a camp bag. I spent well over $500 building my kit and man I wish I would have known that was a option because this is a solid setup. I would maybe add a Grayl and some backup batteries for my EDC flashlight.
It’s awesome quality and I will not do SAR without my Esee 4. That said I feel like buying a premade kit is great for people with little to no training. By the time you learn how to use a kit like this you would know how to make your own kit, albeit customized to your liking. Great company and great kit (just not for the money).
Awww...man, i thought you were going to setup the cordage to show us how to properly rappel down a cliff face or building, being the hard charging Motor Scooter that you are. Ha! But seriously, Randall is the real deal in survival, and the fact they would use their competition's items that also have NSNs to round out their kit, shows that they are not stuck on themselves. Thanks for sharing, you Mighty Awesome Devil Dog. ERRAH!
The ESEE kit is solid. The primary criticism of this kit is that it is the same kit it was 20 years ago, they haven't kept up with the times and there are better products for survival: 1.) Cut your Map to make it more manageable: ruclips.net/video/DOgbC-zcWDA/видео.htmlsi=iujVlGaAucDUwztN 2.) Battle Board F.I.S.T. 4.0 case or Build your own map case: ruclips.net/video/A8aiEZSXLLk/видео.htmlsi=1ccCIztuVg4NYCU1 3.) MagnaCut and Vanax a Better knife steel than their basic 1095 or even their premium s35v blade steel. 4.) Grayl Titanium + H2Go Global + Steripen + tablets gives you 4 ways to process water. 5.) Clear plastic drop cloth + mylar blanket = Mor Kochanski Super Shelter for when you find yourself in the Boreal forest.
I can see that being good if you're a laymen, a city slicker who just wants to be prepared. Where DIY makes sense is if you use it, not just store it. My "survival kit" is also my hunting pack. I have everything there and a shit ton more. Piecing it together is certainly cheaper if you know what you're doing. Since mine is a hunting pack also, I have more money into it, but I can also survive indefinitely on it (most of the extra $ went to the Kuiu pack and whichever magnacut blade I'm using at the time). I'll say it, the ESEE 4's handle is dogshit. Had one, hot spots galore, gave it away.
I appreciate your vids, but I strongly and humbly disagree. The fact that there are more vids on DIY videos on the subject is actually proof. Years ago when one of my favorite RUclipsrs Kitbash survival reviewed this bad yes the items are indeed 100% top notch. However this bag doesn't offer everything a person will need. You will always , always have to add to a survival kit that's been manufactured to appeal to the masses as opposed to your specific needs for your current set of conditions. I will say esee delivers on quality and reliability I own several products and they don't disappoint. Your statement that there's no need to diy your own bags also means there's no need to review additional gear? Just purchase the esee survival bag and rest assured the bag has everything you may possibly need, but that's not entirely accurate, IMHO 👍
I have the now unbuyable esee advanced fire kit it came in a small tube you could buy extensions and such has is very awesome I’ve modded mine a bit but it’s my no nonsense guaranteed fire tool
Marine X, Can you please do a video on an urban get home kit....that is specially design for people getting home from the city to the suburbs in the case of an emergency.....Can you do this video before Nov 10th. Thanks
Ok… at first I was like fuck this I can make my own. But I am seeing the money in this. But if you already have a lot of this stuff. It makes sense just to add on. Even though I have majority of that stuff, Ima have to buy it for a backup. To piggy back on what you’re asking. I think for me personally is what will help you survive. I think area/terrain will help as well cuz there might not be things you don’t have to carry. But like you say. What ever is comfortable for you. But I feel like someone who never or just starting in this kind of “ survival situation awareness” type thing. This would be a great start.
A waterproof fishing kit? Am I missing something here. I wish people would make Urban survival kits. A large part of the population lives either in the city or in the suburbs. And even if I lived out in the country and I had to get home I would simply walk down the highway or road that I normally travel. Why would I make my life difficult by walking through the wilderness. I think if they concentrated on City or Urban people they would make more money. It's an interesting kit but it doesn't apply to me at all. Lastly I would prefer the clip point, Tactical Esee #4. The knife edge is great for making feather sticks and the clip point is better for making fine shavings from fatwood or striking a ferro rod. Plus it's pointy so if you have to stab something like a 800 lb squirrel chasing U through the woods you at least have something to defend yourself with.
depends on the scenario, no? Normal roads might be occupied, impassible or dangerous for whatever reason. I can see several scenarios where you would want to remain in stealth mode to a certain degree at least. It would be good to stick close for the purposes of knowing where you're going, but it might not always be the absolute best option.
@@Huck_Finn0614 look at the situation of hurricane Helene. People are helping each other and no one's bugging out into the wilderness. Also I live in Canada so whenever we have had disasters everybody gets together and helps one another we don't start shooting and killing. Biggest demonstration we ever had was the truckers covid-19 protest and even the police brought us food and drinks and stuff and we all had a good time, except for that POS prime minister and his sidekick miserable little woman.
For starters, most city/suburban folk tend to be liberal or complacent and laugh at preppers. A large portion of the community are rural or fringe rural people. They won't "make so much more money" by targeting urban only. Next, choose a better knife. FFS, you don't use the edge of your blade for striking a ferro rod, you get a knife with a 90 degree spine and you can scrape shavings and strike the ferro. Clip points, just no. Anything stabs, "tactical" is a buzz words for people who don't live in reality. Last, build your own kit. It's not rocket science, just research it, and it's cheaper than buying some overpriced kit with items you won't need in your scenario. Example - You want a 4 way spigot key, which you'll probably not find in a kit. And back to making feather sticks from fat wood....you just said urban, where are you getting fatwood in the city? If it's in your kid, there are cheaper and much lighter and more flammable tenders.
@@Swearengen1980 I have over 250 knives alone. And about 40G worth of my emergency kit. My flood kit includes two inflatable rafts completely stocked with all the latest technology. My rope climbing kit is state of the art. And that doesn't even include all the extra stuff which I won't even mention. I've been doing this for a long time.
@@James-ke5sx Having money doesn't mean you have sense or skill. In my experience, the majority of preppers will die just the same, especially the urban ones. When SHTF, this country belongs to country folk.
That is laughably and horrendously wrong. I have all of that and much more in my pack, while spending less than $1100, by piecing together my own and that includes my MKC magnacut and Kuiu Divide pack. How could you possible think that's $1,100 worth of pieced together items? Kits are never cheaper than piece by piece.
Why is it called advanced kit? Who is this kit for? American made means nothing to me exept being overpriced. I understand you want to support your local economy but what you fail to do is challenge them. I can buy much better gear from China or Europe and it will be a lot cheaper and better. I'm a survival instructor since 1986 and longer if you count my military days and I would keep some items in there but none of them are American made. 30 feet of climbing rope is just over 9 meters (and a former Marine should know metric). What's the use of that? You tie it around a tree with a bowline leaving you maybe 5 meters to rappel from. And you won't get your rope back so it's a 1 time deal. Completely useless. Where are the water bottles and something decent to cook in? That aluminium messtin looks really flimsy and will deform or even melt on a campfire. Again useless. With the exeption of a few items made not in the US this kit is useless. A waste of money and also not challenging ESEE to make a good kit. They don't have to live up to the challenge because even former US Marines seems to like and indorce it. You give this kit to any Marine corps in any other country and they will laugh and throw it in the bin.
@@MarineX I won't try the kit but have my own of course. I call it my Grab/Go bag with the essentials and there's nothing ESEE in it. But I do travel to South America and Asia and all over the world. Not as military of course because those days have long gone, but as survival instructor learning from different cultures. And nobody in South America or Asia have ever heard of ESEE and they survive. They also never heard of Mora to be honest or at least they are not available to them. Like many Americans (US citizens) you need to do some more traveling. So lets take out 1 item. The 10 foot (just over 9 meters) climbing rope. What's that gonna do for you?
@@StevanOutdoor Not much on critical thinking, eh? Let's be real...he targets the novice and basic city slickers who worked up about what they see in the news. I'm willing to bet 90% or more of people who have kits will never use anything in them. He's helping the basic helpless and hapless city slicker have a somewhat of a fighting chance of not dying on day 1. He's not teaching them to survive in the jungle indefinitely, obviously he has nothing to teach someone like you or a redneck like me. But the shitting on American products isn't entire accurate. Everything better is Chinese or Euro? Hardly. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Who cares if some backwoods jungle has never heard of Mora or ESEE, why would they? But if I were betting my life on a knife, I'd take my MKC magnacut over whatever tool steel piece of shit they use. Not because I couldn't still do it, but because if I have access to something better, why not making it easier on myself? I agree, build your own kit and pick better items, but "Well those backwoods tribes do it this way, so the American way sucks ass and I know better because military blah blah, world traveler survival expert blah blah" is absurd and shows a lack of overall awareness. If you want to make things harder on yourself, feel free, but don't criticize others for not doing the same. You might as well say, "Well those people without electricity in BFE don't have a gun to protect their home, so you shouldn't use one either!".....see how stupid that sounds?
It's a pricey boi, no doubt about it. Realistically though, the cost of the bag itself, the Esee 4 And the headlamp, c puts you into the $250- $300 range. Putting together the rest of the kit, using quality reliable products (not Temu) justifies it's a price in my opinion. I'm sure I could put one together at a much lower cost.
