I work in patrol for my local sheriff's office in a rural area on night shifts. We are constantly in the woods looking for suspects, making entries into homes on violent calls, and searching for narcotics on traffic stops. I'm a fan of NiteCore lights and currently use the P23 as a duty light. The EDC29 would replace that and help to streamline my loadout and offer a bit more power. Appreciate the reviews. You do a great job.

I’ve been a clock in before the sun rises up type of guy for years now & constantly use my EDC 27 for the walk from the parking lot onto the work property. Usually avoiding spiderwebs, bats & sometimes stray dogs! The strobe usually freaks out the aggressive dogs enough that they back away. An upgrade to 6K lumens would definitely be appreciated & I know I’d put it to good use.

6.5K is some serious illumination. Reverse momentary low, semi lock out, and proximity sensor makes good sense for a light with high lumens. It's for specific users i must add. Always, your videos are very well explained. Tq.

Of course I need this flashlight! When delivering newspapers around the neighborhood with my wagon, I constantly need to grab newspapers from the wagon, the instant low gives me better light transition from walking brightness (400-700 lumen) to close up so I won't blind myself every time I reach in. Pre-select mode feature is also helpful for my tech support work (under the desk cable management or server room cable switch boxes.)

I’ve carried an EDC27 for a short while but it’s got very poor water resistance. Just clipped on my body armor in the rain the LEDs fogged up under the lens. I put it in a baggie with some desiccant which dried it out. Then hiking a short time later it was raining and I was using the light at dusk. The LED reflector areas filled up with water. I only had the light about a month before the first time it happened. Never dropped and never submerged. Needless to say it’s a nightstand light now as I can’t trust it outside. It’s the one thing stopping me from buying the 29. It works great indoors though.

I hope this is not a common issue. I own EDC33 and 27 too and havent encounter any problem, yet. For such a premium price on this brand, I would expect premium-level of QC and it would be unacceptable if Nitecore rejects your RMA. Sofirn, Wurkkos and other companies sometimes have issues like these but that is to be expected with their budget pricetag, but even then they would gladly reissues a new unit for these kind of defect for free. At least that have been my experiences so far.

I have the EDC 27 and the LCD screen fogs up, ive never used it in anything but a slight sprinkle of rain.
I assume that humidity in the air has casued it.
For me its a useful formfactor when walking the dog at night, but it istn something i consider to be waterproof at all.
I have an astrolux light that I use when its raining, and it is so far fine.

    • @spr00sem00se
      @spr00sem00se Месяц назад +1

I should add that I also have an older EC4 light, which I also cannot use, since the stupid threads on the base of the light are pathetic, and damage themselves everytime you replace the batteries. which you need to do a lot since they arent internally chargeable and they drain when left powered off.
I think im about done with nitecore in reality. i have found astrolux to be better. So when I need a new light I know where I will be looking.

@@Fanta.... when I opened the light up to dry it out, it was clearly well built as far as layout and cleanliness. Nothing seemed cheap or misplaced.
It’s just not sealed in a way that offers any protection. There’s no rubber seal except the charge port.
It’s a shame because I want the new EDC29 now and won’t buy it because of this.

I work on the underground electric utility, and I have the EDC27 and love it for the flat design as I can place it on an underground transformer and not worry about it rolling all over the place while doing work. It also comes in clutch when in a manhole working on the cables there really is no place to lay a flashlight down and not have it roll all over this place the EDC27 fixes that problem. This light would be a huge upgrade for the same type of work especially with the new lock feature being more glove friendly.

I'd use this in my line of work. I play live music for events and weddings all over the uk. Some of them are well lit, but most venues are in the middle of nowhere and loading out at the end of the evening in pitch black isn't ideal! These lights are so helpful for finding bits of gear in poorly lit stages and back stage, navigating around farms and private land where these venues are usually located.

I would love to give my TM9K Tac some rest and use the EDC29 as my main work flashlight. I'm a police officer, and having the right brightness levels available at the right moment is perfect. Being able to select the brightness levels without needing to turn it on is so convenient! Also, I really loved that you continue using the physical lock button, it's one of my favorite features on my EDC33. I'm sure this flashlight would make my job way easier and cooler. But I have one point of confusion: What did they have in mind with the included lanyard with the clip? It doesn't work as a wrist lanyard, and is a bit long for a fob. What in the world would people clip it to? I guess it's time to learn to tie a paracord wrist lanyard.

I’ve been a Nitecore user since the Defender Infinity came out and I’d buy more if I could find them… This EDC29 would be a good fit for me both at work and outside of work simply because of the versatility it offers in beam brightness. I would use the lower brightness settings at work when performing inspections on tooling or machinery, use it at home in the dark when walking my dog, but what I could really use it for is when I am at my rural property with a cabin in the woods… You need a lot of lumens to punch thru the trees, a 400 lumen light just doesn’t go far at times when I am looking for predators at night while going to the bathroom or bringing in firewood.
I have resisted having a larger than AA/14500 light simply because they are soo large-this light may change that for me.

Winning the EDC29 Nitecore flashlight would greatly enhance my performance as a security officer in a warehouse. My role involves monitoring a vast, often poorly lit environment during nighttime hours, and the EDC29’s high lumen output and extended beam range are crucial for effective surveillance. Its powerful illumination would allow me to thoroughly inspect dark and hidden areas of the warehouse, ensuring that I can identify potential security issues and maintain a secure environment. The flashlight’s compact size and durable construction are ideal for the demanding conditions of a warehouse, where durability and portability are essential. Additionally, the EDC29’s long battery life would ensure that I have reliable lighting throughout my entire shift, reducing interruptions and maintaining continuous security coverage. The adjustable beam settings would enable me to tailor the light to different situations, whether I need to illuminate a wide area or focus on specific details. Overall, the EDC29 Nitecore flashlight would significantly improve my ability to perform detailed inspections and respond to security incidents promptly, making it an invaluable tool for my job!

So I asked Nitecore to replace with a different model, and they refused, offering to continuously replace the defectively designed / manufactured model.

As a helicopter pilot, I'm pretty sure that light could replace/be an alternate landing light :P... It'd be perfect for night flights, quick access and easy use to get around poorly lit tarmacs, as well as preflight inspections in low/no light.

    Hell to the yes!
Amazing pair up to my P20IX to add to my self-defense arsenal whenever I'm out in the concrete jungle!
Now, I feel far more confident and safer that I could actually draw it and press the strobe button much quicker than my P20IX with its flat setup, not to mention, 2500 lumens more!
Will be buying it asap without a second guess!

This seem like an excellent EDC Tool for wvery day needs. Especially at the dark days that are around the corner. I use my current light on my way to the car and back to the house. The EDC 29 could be an good light for some tasks at the evening on my work.

I would use the edc 29, i am often in low light settings but not always needing the light for long periods of time. The reverse high to low would especially be helpful. Also knowing how much time I have exactly on the battery life would be the perfect fit for me. Been watching you for a while now and I finally subbed! Thanks!

This would be amazing for my work. I do security at the port at night w drivers, container pickers trucks ect. We wear vest to be seen but alot of times a light is needed to make sure you dont get run over or crushed when something is being transported. Checking paper work and flagging down drivers or for emergency. They supply us w crappy battery powered duracell flashlight that weighs 3lbs hahahha. Carrying that is such a downer. Can't wait for this light to drop! Win or not, i will eventually purchase it 🤙🏾

The 6,500 lumen output is useful for temporarily blinding and disorienting a potential attacker. That much light in your face, even for 10 seconds, is a strong psychological deterrent. 👍

I LOVE ALL THE NEW FEATURES! I BOUGHT THE EDC27 IN THE PAST AND REALLY LIKED WHAT IT HAD TO OFFER, BUT WITH ALL THE CHANGES I WOULD HAVE MADE FOR AN UPGRADE NITECORE SUCCEEDED WITH THIS MODEL. WORKING K9 SOMETIMES ON LONG SEARCHES WHERE MY DOG IS ON A LONGER LEAD I'LL CLIP THE EDC27 ON HIS VEST ON A MEDIUM LIGHT SETTING AND I'VE FOUND THAT IT REALLY HELPS ME KEEP MY DOG ON SCENT WITHOUT WANDERING OR DISTRACTIONS. PLUS IT'S SLIM SIZE SAVES ME (AND MY DOG) FROM CARRYING A BULKY ROUND LIGHT. GREAT VIDEO I LOVE HOW YOU EXPLAIN EVERYTHING ABOUT ALL THE FLASHLIGHTS YOU DEMO. KEEP'EM COMING PLEASE.

I have a P20ix and eyeing to buy this EDC29 but the build in battery is the drawback for me. The P20ix in Tactical mode has good choice either which button I click in a hurry because the main button will blast Turbo 4,000 lumens then the other button is Strobe light. It also has a striking bezel with tungsten tip. The battery is also replaceable which is a good thing.

Today I was at the University, and one of my friend noted that I had a flashlight attached to my pants, he went crazy because all my friends know that I am a flashlight enthusiast, but grabbing one and taking it to the University was something that had him go crazy ahahahha. I use flashlight everywhere, because I think that having light always with you is something that a lot of please can't understand

I burned a hole in my pocket and almost ruined my pants completely with the EDC27. I really didn’t like the controls for the lockout on it. I use it to examine crime scenes. The turbo is great to flood the area for better photos or just a better look.
I really like the manual lockout switch. I really like the ability to get rid of the strobe too. I have dedicated lights that I use if I need strobe. Having flood and spot as options is really good too.
