    I was in Santiago and I told my hosts "No quiero comer en un lugar que consigue muchas turistas. and they took me to an open air restaurant. There was an entire roasted chicken, bowls of shrimp and fish, plantains, what seemed like a bucket of rice and a cole slaw type salad that was made with pineapple vinegar. Four people, total bill, $15.00

    iTerranova: The first part where I'm eating mofongo was in Santo Domingo. The fish and lobster at the beach was near Puerto Plata on the opposite side of the island. The fried food was in Santiago.

    Mofongo is from Puerto Rico mangu is from the Dominican republic,get it right i know some great grandmothers that are Dominicans and they never cooked or new about mofongo until they lived in Puerto rico.

      +Dani Rican In DR there's mangú AND mofongo. I don't know if is originally from PR but we eat mofongo here too and is nothing like mangú. Those abuelas probably come from a zone where mofongo isn't prepared because some foods are exclusive from the North or South.

      Misha HJ Mofongo is from Puerto Rico if you do bumbaclot on it you will see,its been in american food channels its are history are culture,its not kool to say a food from another country or island is yours when its not,its like im going to say salami and queso frito is not dominican its from Puerto rico,you will correct me and say no its not right?

    • @m1sh474
      @m1sh474 8 лет назад

      Dani Rican so you think a gringo channel about food will know more than us about our food? Fuck off with that nonsense. Cuban, PRcan and Dominican food share a lot of plates.
      And salami is from Italia...

    • @danirican5731
      @danirican5731 8 лет назад +1

      Misha HJ yes but that what yall like eating the most....i know a lot of dominicans i see what they eat all the time,plus i was just saying that because are mofongo is part of are history thats why they did a few episodes in tv about our mofongo,ive never in my 34 years living in Puerto Rico and the united states have heard of dominican making mofongo just a few years ago.so deja el show.

    • @m1sh474
      @m1sh474 8 лет назад +1

      Dani Rican oh my god... No one said a thing about what we eat more. Like, we eat rice, red beans and meat almost every day. Mangú is basically dinner food here because is easy to make and mofongo is more like weekend food because it's expensive to make.
      I've been eating mofongo my whole life and my mother have been eating it her whole life and her mother, etc.
      Like I said,
      1) you're not from here so you can't know about our dishes besides the basics.
      2) that you heard about it recently doesn't nullify its existence and
      3) depending of the zone the foods are very different, what people eat in the south is not the same at the food in the north.
      If mofongo was brought here from PR or not (2 OR 3 GENERATIONS AGO), I don't give a fuck, but claiming that is an exclusive dish from PR is really dumb and pointless. Like I won't go to a random video about people from Colombia eating plátanos fritos to tell them THOSE TOSTONES ARE FROM DOM. REP.!
      Give me a fucking break...
