You exceed RUclips and should be viewed on Netflix or HBO or god forbid and network: Your knowledge ,pace, editing and humor blow everyone else I know how to blog ! You are the king of New York!
I was never particularly interested in walking tours but my Gawd; you have me addicted. You are a natural! And you're funny. Im learning so much about new York. I'd love for you to do London (where I live) and Paris (where I often visit)
I am floored you do not have more subscribers!!!!!!!!!!! I love your videos. They are very informative and funny. Your knowledge of NYC is phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks and keep them coming!
Tom, your NYC vids are pure, educational and thoroughly entertaining. Your selfie moments and hotdog consuming moments on top of trash piles are understated and hysterical. The understated sarcasm combined with a plethora (lol) of facts make for one extremely interesting tour. $900,000.00 Tribeca income lolololol...thanks you so much for your time spent making these; it is appreciated and will hopefully be recognized by an intense growth on your channel.
I live in Manhattan they are always filming near my house , I always ask what they are filming , they always tell me , I usually don’t know what the show is but I am amazed by all the equipment they need and not to mention the amount of food
Love all your videos. When in NYC and wandering around with my one hitter back in the 80s, I missed Tribeka. In fact I know little about anything below Canal. I'll explore now in these videos. (But with only espresso.)
I like this blog, very informative, the guy is energetic, not a lousy moment, this is now my favorite pastime, see New York inside and out. Thanks my friend.
Zounds! I worked at New York Law School for 33 years. I retired just last year (2022). I was there before the Jenga Building was built. It stands on the lot where the school's former library stood. It wasn't so much that NYLS was in financial straits that the school sold that lot to the developers of the Jenga building, but that the school wanted to expand and modernize its facilities in order to better serve the students, (and to accomodate more). The sale of that lot helped finance the planned construction. (Of course, other financing was also involved.) That library was built and demolished within the time I worked there. a very short life span of maybe 20 years. The new library is four floors, three underground, in the new building. And...my wife is a big fan of Hugh Jackman's LAUGHING MAN coffee. We have relocated out of state in the past year, but she subscribes to the the coffee, and they send boxes of the coffee to us every month or so. (I started working at NYLS in 1989, well before the area became affluent. It was in those days a dump, mostly deserted after dark when all the people working in the city government buildings down there went home.) I actually miss the neighborhood as it was in those days.
Back in the '70s when i was working at Pearl Paints (then the largest art supply store in the world) on Canal Street, back when the only thing in the area soon to be fashioned as TriBeCa was the Lower Manhattan Ocean Club. We use to call it SoSo - ie South of SoHo. Hahaha
Best tour guide ever! Interesting facts about Tribeca, an area I'm going to check out. As usual, the video is well done and so entertaining (sick plugs are hilarious)! Thanks, Tom...
I love NY and always wanted to learn it from a tour guide point of view, i found your amazing channel. Insane amount of work and effort to bring this content to us. Cheers from Connecticut.
Love these videos. What's funny about the "Sex and the City" and movie film portion is that I remember when that was being shot and I think the NY Daily News showed the scene of Carrie hit big with flowers as if it were a true event. lol
Regarding the Ghostbusters Firehouse (two things): 1. Didn't it used to have two lamplights on either side of it, with the white globes? Kind of like the subway lamps I see later in your video, but white, not green. 2. I saw GB's in the theater, when it came out. I live in Northern NJ, so I'm in the city on a somewhat regular basis and I do a lot of photography. Back then, it was on film, and I was in HS, I think. So, buying film and getting it developed was expensive. But I remember being in the theater, watching GB's, taking one look at the firehouse and saying to myself, "That looks really familiar." I pulled an envelope of photos I had just had developed out of my purse and was flipping through them in the theater, looking at them by the light of the movie, until I came to it. YUP! I had taken a picture of that very firehouse, and had just gotten the pictures developed. It was just a really weird coincidence. That photo is somewhere packed away in a box in the basement.
WOW!! Very informative...Cool historical references of buildings,actors,strippers...I am even from Ny then left here for Europe..I realize how much I do not Know!!..
I wish i knew as much about my own city (Johannesburg, South Africa) as I've learned from binge-watching all of Tom's videos! best channel on RUclips! can't wait to visit NYC again!
WOW when i saw the cover in the video i thought, "this shit must be boring" while searching for history of tribeca ALMOST didnt click,, VERY GLAD I DI. THANK YOUUU
