“You must picture me alone in that room in Magdalen, night after night, feeling, whenever my mind lifted even for a second from my work, the steady, unrelenting approach of Him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet. That which I greatly feared had at last come upon me. In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England. I did not then see what is now the most shining and obvious thing; the Divine humility which will accept a convert even on such terms. The Prodigal Son at least walked home on his own feet. But who can duly adore that Love which will open the high gates to a prodigal who is brought in kicking, struggling, resentful, and darting his eyes in every direction for a chance of escape? The words “compelle intrare,” compel them to come in, have been so abused be wicked men that we shudder at them; but, properly understood, they plumb the depth of the Divine mercy. The hardness of God is kinder than the softness of men, and His compulsion is our liberation.”
In illustrating God’s love for us when we finally , however reluctantly, come back to him from Luke 15 :
“The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

Please pray for me. For 15 years I have been struggling with debilitating sickness that's made my life unberable. I am in my mid 30 and would love to still have streingth to serve my Savior and Lord.
Jesus is my Healer. Thank you all 🙏🏻

I have also been dealing with chronic illness for over 30 years. I was not a Christian when I was first diagnosed; I have been Born Again for 20 years. When I was first diagnosed I went through stages of belief/unbelief. I was a nominal Catholic but never found comfort or my Savior in those traditions. Bless all who do but I did not. My journey took me into Buddhism also but again something was lacking so I became agnostic, then atheist. When I finally discovered Jesus I was still asking, "Why me? Now that I have found You, all I want to do is serve You. Why me?!!" For a long time I struggled to understand until one day I got my answer. It was a simple answer. All He spoke to me was, "Why not you?" Through the years, I have learned how to understand this answer more fully. It isn't just about pride or grace or mercy. It is about truly serving Him. My reach may not be as widespread or as obvious as it once was but it is still important. You can still serve Him from right where you are. If you impact even just one life it is His victory through you. There are the ppl who you meet every day. Your demeanor, your kindness and faith. Let your light shine from whatever circumstance you are in. Look at the ppl Paul reached from his prison cell. Of course we are not writing Scripture but you can still impact our world for Christ. If you don't know your gift, pray to discover it and then use it from right where you are. I know it is not easy. I know you suffer. Allow that suffering to be a conduit to others who are suffering. I lift your needs up in prayer. That God continues to bless you. If your healing is His will, I pray His will over you. God bless you and give you peace. 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

His initial point is something most overlooked which is that while yes, there are many religions that worship many gods, the overall point is that man as a whole has always believed that God must exist. This fact is profound and narrows the focus on which God is the Truth.

In something Paul says about his spiritual journey, I was reminded of GK Chesterton who once wrote that happiness is ro search the world for a perfect place and to arrive home and find it.
I will forever blame the Church for leading me towards atheism. My own Dawkins phase.
But I will also forever thank the Church for giving me the opportunity to return to faith by the hands of Jesus, Himself.
A great honor to believe in Jesus not by virtue of my birth, but by the grace of Christ, Himself.

Thank you, "Aspiring Christian", for this wonderful testimony of a journey searching for God, for Christ. I love it and can identify with it as I also had to first step OUT of my family's traditional faith, make a long & winding journey of my own quite similar to Paul Kingsnorth's spiritual quest, only to realize that "SOMEBODY" very familiar to my heart & soul was ticking me on the shoulder from behind.. sort of with a big grin on His face. Folks who went on such a quest because of sincere "thirst & hunger for truth" or for "the Sacred, the Highest, the True Source" - they are THE BEST & deepest rooted afterwards, once they've come to find this "treasure of Treasures", this "coming home".
Me too, I ended up in the Orthodox church and my understanding of the Christian faith has gone through the crucible of experiences I needed to have before at last, feeling "at home".
Paul's testimony is so genuine and so wonderful to hear. Blessings to him, and to you who is running this channel., as well as to all who discover it & are touched by what you share. We really need one another on this ongoing journey!

Richard Dawkins can accept a creator, as long as that creator was aliens! 👾 But God has made his invisible attributes clear through creation, so all are without an excuse!

Give him some more years and this man will surely discover many more religions that will or will not suit him. Christianity does not need to be the end of his quest. This man is e seeker who is craving for internal harmony and calm. I wish him good luck!

We were all young once! My Dawkins phase was from 2008-2013 , I was just a kid! A college kid!
@@AspiringChristian We must have similar age ! While in my teen and college years I can’t say I was a Christian , I would never call myself an Atheist . Watching how atheists all they wanted is to mock Christians or feel superior intellectually , which has absolutely nothing to do with searching the truth , this was something that wasn’t aligning with my core principles . Thinking about it , I wasn’t back then really believing in God , but my principles were pretty much Christian like .

The power of Dawkins over mass-thought shouldn't be underestimated. Though with colleagues from 1997 to 2015, they never once asked me, and couldn't wait to read him. The air darkened in days after God Delusion was published and bragged how they bought copies to read to each other. Every last one of them, loaded with degrees and PhDs. A few pages read, and they were hooked. Imagine queuing for poison.

Hey, I agree. I think there are people in Protestant, Orthodox, and Catholic Churches who are going to heaven and truly part of The Church, the bride of Christ.
And there are those likely worshipping in every church who are not part of the bride of Christ.
And they should at least watch the full hour this is clipped from and learn more about Paul’s current views before judging his relationship with Jesus.

The critical point here is focus. With a focus, logic, reasoning, and science are possible. Yet, we often experience the world as random chaos without a focus. We realize that no absolute focus exists once we examine every instance of a particular focus in our perception or reasoning. Still, we must have a substitute for it in our minds. This is a quick way to understand God as a necessity. Without a focus, no thought or thing makes sense. Therefore, in this battleground of order and chaos, we need God as a focus, giving us direction toward order.
Humanism or atheism has been a constant and a defining differentiator between European culture and the rest of the world , started with the Greeks, Romans adopted it so did Jews after 70AD , after Rome fell they spread it along with Christianity to all of Europe,, there’s a continuity between Western civilization and the Roman Empire that people do not like to acknowledge my guess it’s because of the negative prophecies that’s associated with it.
Okay, so does he repent and serve Jesus as Lord? I didn't hear any repentance or acceptance of the gospel. Be careful this is a different Christ he serves. Or was this merely some spiritual journey.

Most people do not know what the word “repent” or “repentance” means. Look up of how many times God repents in the Bible. Repent means to change your mind. Clearly the man in this clip changed his mind about atheism and about God, otherwise he wouldn’t be in this video.
He still hasn't found the truth. What he has found is His own version of Truth rather than God's version of Truth, which Paul Kingsnorth contradicts.

@shanechellis2770 No Protestant, Anglican or Non-denominational speak of John 20 vrs 19-23 John 6 vrs 53-58 Matthew 16 vrs 19. For them to speak of these texts contradicts everything that they say about scripture. They only quote scripture that supports their interpretation of scripture. In doing that, you are only telling a portion of the truth. To just tell a portion of the truth, then what you are doing is lying. As an analogy, if someone gives a cake recipe and when you have cooked it, it is obvious that it does not look like what it should be, that is because you have been told a lie. Scripture is no different to not speak about everything in scripture, then your lying that lying will lead people to hell.
Everyone believes something on faith.

There needs to be a phrase for when Christian centered people complain 'he hasn't found God's bc reaction to this video are a definition of it. He also hasnt found Allah, Hindu Gods, other native Gods etc. culture is so permeated by Christianity that this is a normal thing in these commenter's eyes to zero in on
I hope Paul asks God to forgive him his sins in Jesus' name and ask Jesus to be his Lord. Until that moment, he's not saved.
The Bible says that those that call upon the name of the Lord are saved.
It sounds like he joined a church group, not came to know Jesus. Theres a big difference.

He said he wanted a relationship with the divine and wanted to worship something. He even had dreams of Jesus guiding him away from a false and dark path. We shouldn't place limits on how the Holy Spirit tries to persuade each person toward the Truth.
The details or authenticity of his conversion are between him and God. End of story. Anything we choose to add to that is pure speculation at best. No man knows anyone else’s heart besides their own and nobody knows it better than God.
Orthodox and Catholicism are not the same in any way.
While they are not the same thing, they are quite similar.
The gospel is the central core of Christianity, regardless of denomination. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ.
@Nidhogg13 Being "not the same" is "being not the same." You have two jars of water both are perfectly clear, with the exception that one has normal water. The other is "heavy water" and has a sweeter taste to it, and is used only in nuclear rectors, which would you accept, and which would you not accept even if thristy. "Being not the same," tells me it's a lie.
@IthinkImOk-k7g Yes, the gospel is the central core of Christianity. But to think that denomination, which in itself is a contradiction, doesn't matter is lie. Different denominations mean different understandings of the gospel. A different understanding of the gospel means contradiction, which ultimately means someone is lying. As an analogy 1+1=2 to claim that the equation is wrong or to misinterpret it is lying, the answer does not change depending on the reader. The only way for the answer to change is because of the reader, in the way the reader understands it but the answer is still the same so either the answer is wrong and the reader is right or the reader is wrong and the answer is right. There can not be multiple forms of Christianity that belief, even contradicts the Lord's prayer. If you're struggling to know why it contradicts the Lord's prayer, ask me I will tell you.
@@peterxuereb9884 I didn't say both were somehow true. I just said they were similar. Catholicism and Orthodoxy have much more in common with each other than either has with protestantism.
Atheists actually have a divinity belief, for they too believe that something in the universe, some combination of elementary particles and immaterial laws of nature and logic/math, has an unconditional and independent existence in itself and to which every thing else, whether material or immaterial, ultimately reduces to but which itself does not reduce to anything. This is the only relevant feature of a divinity per se and atheists surely believe in divine in this sense.
Personally this doesn't seem to be equivalent to the divine. The divine as an idea has transcendent power, is personal, and is the source of moral truth. Some physical force within the universe that is a first mover isn't quite enough.
@@almightyzentaco Perhaps it is because your conception of divine is restricted to the most familiar religions, say monotheistic religions, which represent only a very limited sample of all religions. I am talking about a wider class of divinities per se, of which personal creator God is a tiny subclass. Most of people abhor the idea of a personal God with moral requirements because they love sin more...
@timosaksala4797 I'm not sure. Would you classify a completely 'scientific' first mover as the divine? If we discovered that reality sprang into existence out of sheer probable necessity, would that be the divine? Maybe it would be but I feel like there is a lot more bound up with the idea of the divine than just the source of being. If we discovered the source of being was math I don't think we would classify this as divine. There is a certain level of ineffibility required to tick that particular box.
@@almightyzentaco If the first mover existed independently and unconditionally I would classify it as divine but I admit this is a weird concept of divinity because we are used to see divinities as persons. This definition of divinity is fully developed by Roy Clouser in his book "The Myth of Religious Neutrality" (Notre Dame University Press). As to myself, I am a Biblical theist.
orthodox is just another flavor of catholicism , and so is the copt religion of egypt. not christianity, but numerous rules and regulations.

@@peterxuereb9884 Dear peterxuereb9884, The Orthodox Church broke away from the Catholic Church in 1054. Both have bishops and priests who have apostolic succession from the Apostles of Jesus. They have Holy Orders that the Catholic Church recognizes. So, in both religions, Jesus is truly present in the Holy Eucharist as His true Body and Blood!
@@RitaGatton No. Unless He's present personally (in you via the Holy Spirit) He's not present. Saying He's present in a wafer of bread is merely superstition.
@RitaGatton Sorry Rita, but Jesus gave Supreme Authority to Peter or better still the Office that he holds as the head of Christianity, which ultimately refers to Catholicism. The Orthodox Church does not recognise that Authority. Whether the pope be good or bad is irrelevant, the pope still has Authority. But that cannot exceed the boundaries that Jesus has established, nor can it contradict what is written in scripture. As an example of this, I refer to what St Paul said in Galatians chapter 2 vrs 10 -14
