  • MIT Professor Dr. Picard shares her backstory on her journey from atheism to Christianity. In this video, Rosalind Picard shares the story of her journey to God. Along the way, she unpacks the critical realization that Science, as wonderful as it is, is not the only vehicle to bring us to Truth and that many aspects of human life simply fall outside the view of Science. One of many powerful testimonies of Jesus Christ at work!
    She then explains her process of seeking answers to those huge Why questions that go beyond mere process or mechanism. I hope you enjoy!

    Of the 42 Atheism to Christianity testimonies I’ve curated here, Dr. Picard’s has always sat with me.
    And she’s right, of course, everybody lives with faith. The laws of logic, truth, meaning, all of these are things which can not be proven through the scientific method. Yet, daily living necessitates that we have faith. In familys and organizations we must have faith in the people who surround us to some degree. In marriage, we must have faith in our spouses. Faith is a fundamental part to the lives of every single person, and mocking faith shows someone to be out of touch with their own inconsistencies.
    The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
    Proverbs 1:7.
    Christ is King and every knee will bow, absolutely!

    In Jesus is found the Good, the True, and the Beautiful. We sense these transcendentals in beautiful music, beautiful art, the beauty of nature and mathematics, but the ultimate fulfilment of these is in the God-man Jesus of Nazareth. She articulated her faith in Christ very nicely.

      I think thats right, Jesus could have forced all to believe but thats not the point. Even when Moses showed Gods power in so many ways it was not enough anyway. One might think Soloman would have known better than to go astray proof does not seem enough.

      @@mrshankerbillletmein491 Though always vaguely Christian and seeking righteousness, I did train in science (at a time when science seemed to be striding forward) and came to a bit of a "God of the gaps" situation. I was also firmly of the world as well as in it. That began to break a bit after I had read my 10th (popular) science book about how the Earth works from the points of view of atmosphere-biosphere-geosphere etc. David Waltham's "Lucky Planet". And I began to realise that the Earth's improbable "luck" was actually it's divine blessing. However, that was partly an intellectual realisation. The spiritual one had to wait for my shock health diagnosis... I locked down like millions did and thought I was secure healthwise! Not so. So, when I was shocked into realising I would soon die, and realised SO VIVIDLY and with SUCH DISGUST that the world had tainted me, I begged to the Holy Trinity, not to be healed, but just to be cleansed. That was 28-2-21. As They do, They heard me and I felt the miraculous ... and (it seems) I was healed as well. The Holy Spirit took away several addictions immediately (incl. swearing and regret and nostalgia and regard for Opera!!!). Some other bad stuff too. He also improved the good in me, offered discernment between good and evil - obviously MUCH needed in the 2020s!!! Basically I was Born Again in the truest Jesus sense. Since then I have had daily evidence/proof of God existence, the Holy Spirit's great and innovative activity, and the truth of The Bible, which I love. But I DO get spiritual attacks at times, and I always realised it might be hard to maintain saintliness longer term. But I do not fail, thanks to the mercy and love and truth of the Holy Spirit. But I fall off and have to get back on again. I am acutely aware of how shallow and empty and unrewarding the sin is, compared with the wondrous beauty of the divine. But both Solomon and David realised that the opposite sex is specific and the (Dev*l's) world bombards us with that 24/7. Still I know God is greater and I LOVE and serve Father-Creator, Son-Saviour and Holy Spirit-Comforter. Of course, evil is the superficial ALLURE of sin, underlain by deception (lies), disruption and distraction (chaos) and ultimately destruction. And boy can I ever see it all around in 2024! The great divide is not between genteel secular science-based rationality and humanity or Jesus, it is (as it always was) between evil and Jesus. I choose the latter.

    This is easy to understand, a child can understand it yet it is so complex that superficially it looks overwhelming…like there is no way to get to the truth, but truly most of humanity misses the forest for the trees. Before the material was born, something out of the material…something SUPERNATURAL sparked it to life. This spark, the big bang where light came pouring out and into the darkness established everything and a set of rules…the laws of physics which are immaterial further show us there is something more behind the material so as you said, to sit there and insult, mock, and deny there is evidence is to prove you are a MASSIVE FOOL….”a fool says in his heart there is no GOD”. Here is the bottom line, it’s not about evidence or logic, they love their sin and they want to keep sinning…PERIOD, to be “like GOD” but they are a piss poor god and frankly unqualified.

    The Old Testament is a painful read. It’s about animal sacrifices to appease a vindictive god. The New Testament is an interesting read.

    • @BaldGeek83
      @BaldGeek83 21 минуту назад +1

      For decades Christians used the Old Testament to teach about Christ. Philip teaching the Eunuch is a classic example. The OT teaches that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, it is a school master that leads us to Christ, as Paul pointed out. The writings in the new testament were available only as individual documents, copied and passed around for decades before they were collected together and became known as the "New Testament". The determination of which letters bore the mark of the Holy Spirit was the job of the Ecumenical Councils that met several times before the Council of Nicaea in 325 laid out the Cannon of the NT. Those letters that didn't make the cut are known as "Apocrypha". For example, the Book of Enoch talks about the Firebird repeatedly rising from the ashes as if it were a real creature undergoing reincarnation. The Holy Spirit did not inspire such nonsense.
      Basically, the OT was about the law. The NT is a collection of love letters to the Saints.
