This reading is gorgeous as the poem itself. I love the way I can almost taste Poe’s writing. How he melts the world around us, molding it to craft beautiful stories. Readings such as you add such incredible vibrance to the world he builds. Thank you so much for giving us your beautiful voice. The way you held eye contact with the camera added just the right touch of unease that this poem requires. An absolutely exquisite reading. Well done!
I am watching Extraordinary Tales a film which deals with the works of Edgar Allan Poe, I have to say that I am a huge fan of his work. Ever since I was a teenager I have been greatly influenced by him as I am sure that every other writer has. But when you got to the line of "chilling and killing my Annabelle Lee" I knew that this is a great piece of art. It even made me think in your delivery of the lines because it seems after that Poe went darker as to explain his pain that he went through while losing one of the most influentual people in his life his wife Virginia. I have to say that your rendition of the poem makes me think of how creative and complex Poe's mind is. I am following you because you are a fellow Poe fan and I hope to see more versions of Poe's work in the future. Keep up the great work.
This was by far the most beguiling read of Mr. Poe's beautiful but sad poem that I have ever heard. I loved it and the gorgeous voice that gave it life. She sure added a new depth to the classic poem.

My mother would read Poe to me when I was a child. This was my favorite poem. Still moves me as did this video. You did a beautiful reading, thank you.
Annabelle Lee, Ligeia, and The Raven all have one thing in common. The death of a beautiful woman. Edgar Allan once said that the greatest theme in poetry was the death of a beautiful woman.
That poem has so much melancholy to it, and so much sorrow, you can really feel the breeze rustling through the woods and smell the sea in the lines. It haunts me every time I hear it
I heard many many people reading this poem but this... This is amazing.. Our teacher gave this poem to use and we need to research in do the same thing does that reader doing... And I'm amaze how you deliver it so I was thinking to recite it👍
Just as intellectual and conceptual thinking ability is associated with the west, so poetic imaginative thinking is associated with the east. But I can say that both edgar allan poe is a very strong writer and you, dear reader, you read it very well and listening to you was one of the rare experiences where I felt that feeling so clearly outside my mother tongue.
WOW just WOW this is brilliant!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in love with your reading and this video!!!!!!! Would you do the world a favor and make one for "The Raven"??
This will be my declamation piece. And I am getting problematic lately on how will I going to deliver the poem. Then this video came. I've watched ur video for a several times, and that's a good decision I guess, I already memorized the 5 stanzas by just listening😂 Thank u for this video, the poem is really beautiful. ♡
It was many and many a year ago, In a kingdom by the sea, That a maiden there lived whom you may know By the name of Annabel Lee; And this maiden she lived with no other thought Than to love and be loved by me. I was a child and she was a child, In this kingdom by the sea: But we loved with a love that was more than love-- I and my Annabel Lee; With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven Coveted her and me. And this was the reason that, long ago, In this kingdom by the sea, A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling My beautiful Annabel Lee; So that her highborn kinsman came And bore her away from me, To shut her up in a sepulchre In this kingdom by the sea. The angels, not half so happy in heaven, Went envying her and me-- Yes!--that was the reason (as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea) That the wind came out of the cloud by night, Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. But our love it was stronger by far than the love Of those who were older than we-- Of many far wiser than we-- And neither the angels in heaven above, Nor the demons down under the sea, Can ever dissever my soul from the soul Of the beautiful Annabel Lee: For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; And the stars never rise, but I feel the bright eyes Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side Of my darling--my darling--my life and my bride, In her sepulchre there by the sea, In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Vocabulary: Seraphs -angels Sepulchre - a tomb or grave High-born - noble Kinsman - a family member Dissever - to sever or separate Night-tide - Night-time Summary of “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe tells the story of a beautiful, painful memory. The poem’s speaker recalls his long-lost love, Annabel Lee. The speaker knew Annabel Lee many years ago, when she was a girl, and they both lived “in a kingdom by the sea,” and even though they were only children, they were madly in love. Even the angels in heaven noticed and were jealous of their love. Perhaps that was a bad thing, because our speaker blames the angels for his lover’s death. A wind apparently came down from the clouds, making Annabel Lee sick and eventually killing her. When this occurred, her relatives arrived and took her away from the speaker, confining her in a tomb. “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe wants us to know that his feelings for Annabel Lee were more than just a teen crush. Death isn’t going to be able to separate him from Annabel Lee. Even angels and devils couldn’t do it. He can still see her in his dreams and in the stars. In fact, he still loves her so much that he sleeps with her in her tomb every night. Meaning/Lesson of “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe The poem of “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe gives us the meaning and lesson that love can transcend death. The speaker was truly in love to Annabel Lee and even they are apart, love still connects them. Like many of Poe’s poems, it explores the theme of the death of a beautiful woman. The narrator, who fell in love with Annabel Lee when they were young, has a love for her so strong that even angels are envious. He retains his love for her even after her death. In “Annabel Lee,” the speaker’s conflict is resolved in the final stanza, as he reveals that “all the night-tide I lie down by the side… He seems in his mind to have decided that “the winged seraphs of heaven” killed Annabel Lee because they were jealous of the love between himself and her. According to the narrator, “she lived with no other thought” than to love and be loved by him. Answer: The speaker and Annabel Lee were lovers, but Annabel dies and leaves the speaker alone. Explanation: Reading the poem we can see that the speaker and Annabel Lee were in love with each other and were happy. What does the narrator do when the moon beams and he dreams of Annabel Lee? He lies by her grave all night by the sea. He goes to the sea and walks until dawn. He travels to her grave in town and leaves flowers. The poem’s tone is melancholic and wistful as the speaker recalls his lost love and broods on his physical separation from Annabel Lee. “It was many and many a year ago, / In a kingdom by the sea,” he begins, and the melancholy increases as the speaker describes the death of his beloved. Alliteration: the words half, happy, and heaven, all begin with the same first letter - “h.” Hyperbole: the poet is using exaggeration by saying that Annabel Lee had no other thoughts than to love the poet. Assonance: the words rise, I, bright, and eyes all have the same long “I” sound. The phrase “kingdom by the sea” is an important one in Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “Annabel Lee.” This phrase is used a total of six times, which puts a heavy emphasis on the importance or relevance within the poem itself. Her name is Virginia Poe (Poe 1987). Annabel Lee can be perceived as the love of her life that passed away. It is a personal experience that Poe is expressing through the monologue of the narrators. Poe uses the speaker to describe who she was, and then emphasizes the reasons why he loved her. Edgar Allan Poe’s Annabel Lee: But we loved with a love that was more than love. Holding onto your love after the death, literal or metaphoric of the one you love, is a romantic notion. In Edgar Allan Poe’s “Annabel Lee”, Poe tells a story of love, even after an event of unfair death. His use of imagery portrays a “kingdom by the sea” where a young girl by the name of Annabel Lee lived. Everything forever reminds him of his darling Annabel Lee, and he visits and lies by her tomb by the sea. Poe uses symbolism to place emphasis on the transformation from light to darkness, reflecting the light stolen from Poe’s life when Annabel Lee was ripped from his arms in the darkness that took her place. In this kingdom by the sea. Then, still without saying that she was dead, the speaker tells us how her “kinsman” (that just means a member of her family) came and took her away from him. Be sure to notice the word he uses to describe this kinsman. He calls him “highborn” which means aristocratic, noble. Conclusion This poem serves as an inspiration to love and be loved by the precious people around us.

Hey! I love this so much. I get it if you're busy but I would like you request that you make a video on the poem Question by May Swenson. Please you would be amazing at it!
I always thought the setting of this poem would make an awesome dark fantasy/gothic fiction novel. Tragedy, hideous demons, demented kingdoms, dark oceans, as a writer I'm tempted to make a story like that lol.
"Annabel Lee" and "The Raven" were both written by Mathew Franklin Whittier, younger brother of poet John Greenleaf Whittier, and falsely claimed in a sort of 19th-century identity theft by Edgar Allan Poe. My paper, "Evidence that Edgar Allan Poe Stole 'The Raven' from Mathew Franklin Whittier" explains. It is downloadable at the following link. It can also be found by searching on the title on Academia.edu. www.ial.goldthread.com/MFW_The_Raven.pdf

Summary of “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe
“Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe tells the story of a beautiful, painful memory.
Meaning/Lesson of “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe
The poem of “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe gives us the meaning and lesson that love can transcend death.
In “Annabel Lee,” the speaker’s conflict is resolved in the final stanza, as he reveals that “all the night-tide I lie down by the side…
He seems in his mind to have decided that “the winged seraphs of heaven” killed Annabel Lee because they were jealous of the love between himself and her.

This poem serves as an inspiration to love and be loved by the precious people around us.

mr. poe would be proud of you congrats
Nicely done.
Bravo!
I always thought the setting of this poem would make an awesome dark fantasy/gothic fiction novel. Tragedy, hideous demons, demented kingdoms, dark oceans, as a writer I'm tempted to make a story like that lol.
help pleasee,I really need the background music pleaseeee

"Annabel Lee" and "The Raven" were both written by Mathew Franklin Whittier, younger brother of poet John Greenleaf Whittier, and falsely claimed in a sort of 19th-century identity theft by Edgar Allan Poe. My paper, "Evidence that Edgar Allan Poe Stole 'The Raven' from Mathew Franklin Whittier" explains. It is downloadable at the following link. It can also be found by searching on the title on Academia.edu.
