Plus we switched to instinct and save a lot of money by feeding less since it's so rich and nutritious.
Oh! I’m so sad you didn’t look at the other dry variety - Lowland Creek - it’s ever so much better than either of these, imho. Seems to be much more meat-focused. ETA: did a quick calculation. Lowland creek dry formula has approx 40%protein; 17%fat and 30%carb on a dry matter basis. Still high, but better than a lot of dry foods.I would also mention that at least from looking at the label, it does appear that the protein is likely more meat-based than either of the other varieties.

I used to feed my sterilized cat ToTW but he gained a lot of weight and was very uninterested in playing for more than a few minutes. carbs in such big quantities aren't good for cats regardless of where they came from (grains or potatoes). it's a slow and very annoying battle to get my cat to lose weight now, especially since he used to eat ToTW with gusto, and his dietary food not so much.
I saw you had included some freeze dried foods in previous videos; do you plan to do reviews or education on raw food as a whole? You have such a lovely platform and are using it to spread such good information for the cat community, I would love to see your take on raw foods and which brands you recommend most.

Ya, getting the right food is a learning process. At first, my BF and I just gave our cats, cheap normal food. Then watched a Netflix Doc that traumatized us and guilted us on what we were feeding them. So we switched to Blue Buffalo, Taste of the Wild, Nutro, and other much healthier stuff.

Hi there Laura, sterilized cats can generally eat the same foods as those who aren't sterilized; the only difference is that neutered cats may have slightly lower calorie needs than their un-neutered friends.
I've been watching you the videos and took your advice on the Wellness Core kitten food but I just found out that it has Carrigan in it what do you think
This brand was the one I first settled on when I adopted my 4 cats. They ate every bite within 10 minutes... no leftovers sitting for hours in the bowls... not a trace to have to throw away ever. But when local purchasing became impossible & shipping costs went through the roof, I began a quest to find a higher quality cat food they would all eat with the same gusto & no waste as TOTW wet food. I have found NOTHING except TikiCat After Dark... which will put me in the poor house. LITERALLY. Please recommend suggestions for high quality, affordable wet food that cats will actually eat. Because I do not consider any food that I have to dump into the garbage can to be affordable or nutritious!
Hi Mallory! I recently found your videos and I like them, so much useful information! Thank you! I have a couple of questions about cat food: - How did you find those values for protein, carbohydrates, etc? In the package there is only the minimum values :/. - I have a cat that was diagnosed recently with a urinary problem, how can I contact All About Cats team for nutrition advice? Thank you!
Hi there! Good questions. The nutrient values mentioned in this video are just estimates pulled from the guaranteed analysis, meaning that I took the minimums and maximums from the label and then removed moisture to get a dry matter analysis. Because this method is not very accurate, we are going to start submitting samples of the foods to an independent lab for analysis. This will allow us to get exact percentages and provide more valuable information. To answer your second question, I would encourage you to visit the All About Cats community forum. It is brand new and currently doesn't have a ton of conversation, but we have a team of moderators who will be able to give you expert insights. I'd love to see you there. Visit the forum here: allaboutcats.com/community
I have used this Taste of the Wild, cats like it ok. I didn't know if they are really a good quality for cats or if dry food is even best choice over can? I did not know about food contamination sad. It seems they have a history of contaminated cat food.

Hi Jen, we'll consider reviewing Authority on the channel in the near future! For now, we did publish a written review on our site: allaboutcats.com/authority-cat-food-review
No, I don't think so. Royal Canin puts a lot of people and money into R&D to develop formulations that address particular health issues, and this affects the quality of their food in general. Taste of the Wild doesn't do that.
Your review is all well and good, but I don't know of a single mongoose or feral cat in this jungle who has been inside to gab a quick bite has ever worried if the stuff may have been made in South Carolina. The Incomparable Thunderball (eyes, left!) has eaten Taste of the Wild ever since he was a tiny kitten and now he's ten years, I don't believe the plant protein has had any detrimental effect on him.
Hey Mallory (?), just wanted to say that these videos are extremely well made, great content and I really do trust your opinions. You seem really down to earth and very invested/care about what your talking about (like the lack of reading a script from a teleprompter or the use of click-bate headlines, etc.). Please keep up the great content and everyone else make sure to little, comment and share! Engagement is the best way to help this channel grow 🙂
Thank you so much for your work. It's so stressful feeding cats, cause they are sensitive and picky. I'm so exhausted trying so so hard and throw a lot of food out. And sometimes I find a great food that works great for her digestion and she likes and then they change the ingredients and the next bag or can she will not eat. I'm glad I saw your link to sign up for recalled foods. I had signed up with someone else, but those emails stopped, so don't know what happened to him. Yikes! Again, Thanks so much! And, wonder if you have any reviews on Nulo, Weruva, Fussy Cat, Soulistic or Applaws. And if you have a video of what you feed your cats?? Oh that would be great to know what you have found superior and the cats will eat consistently. Yes! Yes! Oh, I throw so much food away...Lots I saw this one on Purina Beyond because I was talking to Chewy on the phone for help they suggested the Purina Chicken pate' with sweet potato, so I am got it. My cat is eating and likes and I mix with water to make more mushy for her liking. I just found out she likes roasted chicken. That is messy to pick off the bone. She didn't want anymore of Applaws cans she loved, and tried so many millions of foods. I'm on disability and I'm struggling, but never skimp on my cat. It's so hard. We've been struggling since 2014 when I gave her EVO dry food and she screamed at me. I thru away but the damage was done and accidently saw on a recall email that it was recalled for Salmonella. The little store I got it at did not accept returns and even don't give your receipt and if you ask for it they get out of trash, and it would have no ink to read it. OMG! It's been a really expensive and painful road since then. Off and on, she is good then so bad. Cleaning soft stools and puke. I never give up. She has had several vets and RX foods. Not good but some helpful for awhile! She won't eat raw or partially cooked raw. Tried fridge food etc....nothing like that works. Sorry this is so wordy. Any great suggestions would be wonderful! I'm all ears.
Hey there! If your cat likes roasted chicken off of the bone, she might like other shredded chicken foods or perhaps freeze-dried foods. I know you said she doesn't like raw, but I'm wondering if a freeze-dried product would suit her better. Stella & Chewy's has some relatively economical options. To help soothe the diarrhea and vomiting you're encountering again and again, I would consider the options on our list of the best food for sensitive digestion: allaboutcats.com/best-cat-food-for-sensitive-stomach Hope this helps! :)
@@AllAboutCatsYT Wow....Much appreciation! Thank you! I haven't heard of Smalls before, I will check that out and the others. I have done the Stella and Chewy's Chicken Freeze Dried small bags off and on, but she won't eat moistened, only dry, and the bits are really big so she doesn't want to keep up with tackling. If I cut in half that helps but then a lot can crumble instead of clean cut. I saw the rabbit on your list. Is that a yummy kind for cats?? I do know the rabbit and duck etc are gentler proteins, but I'm not sure if my cat will like. Thank you sooooo much!!
It's not one of my favorites-tends to be rather high-carb, contains added nitrates, and, from what I can tell, their foods tend to have an issue with spoilage in-store. You can learn more about it here: allaboutcats.com/freshpet-cat-food-review

Thanks for your input! We'll consider a Nulo review for the near future.

Can you do a review of farmina matisse dry and wet food
We will consider it! Thank you.
Can you do Proplan? They have line for sterilised, delicate, junior foods
We plan to soon!
What about Wilderness Legend? Pls do a review on that
What about Lowland Creek? It seems to be a lot better than those two other flavors.

Hey I was wondering if you could do a review on the food ultra performatarian cat food?
We'll consider it. Thank you!
Do you think you could do a video on cat nail trimmers? Like traditional vs something like the paw perfect?

Thank you!!!! Could you please do a review on Farmina N&D Prime?
We are considering reviewing Farmina in the near future! Thank you.
I saw you had included some freeze dried foods in previous videos; do you plan to do reviews or education on raw food as a whole? You have such a lovely platform and are using it to spread such good information for the cat community, I would love to see your take on raw foods and which brands you recommend most.
Hi Lauren, yes-we do plan to cover raw cat food in the near future. Thank you!
CAN YOU DO REWUE ON THE ROYAL CANIN AND HILLS SCIENCE DIET?
Hi Sandy, we've already reviewed Royal Caniin and plan to cover Hill's Science Diet soon. Here's a link to the Royal Canin review: ruclips.net/video/ofKeJbH0vZ4/видео.html
I've been struggling to find good high-quality food that doesn't contain potatoes. My cat Monty is allergic to potatoes, and he is very picky and hates turkey. He was eating Solid Gold and that's how we discovered his allergy. We have tried Dr. Elseys and the Instinct L.I.D and he wouldn't eat them. Any recommendations?

Have you ever fed your cats a homemade raw diet? I’ve been looking into it for my cats. The supplements and recipe are alnutrin from the website alternative nutrition and I was just wondering your thoughts on the diet if you heard of them.
Hi Kasey, I've tried a few raw options with my cats and, while I've not tried it firsthand, Alnutrin is one of the more reputable premix brands available. You might appreciate our article on making homemade cat food: allaboutcats.com/making-cat-food-homemade
Be careful with Raw It can be Dangerous when done improperly Not only with The risk of microbial infections but also Not getting your cat or dogs Nutrition right.
Got a name for the documentary? I'd like to watch it.
@@pdxdonut Pet Fooled... i believe it’s on Netflix. We watched this about 3 years ago. It was fucckkkkked up.
Pet Fooled is the documentary.
How do you figure out the protein, fat and carbs. I’m looking online at the guaranteed analysis and don’t see your values. I’m confused as I want to be able to look at different foods while in store as well. Thank you for your assistance. Love all your videos!
Hey! I convert everything to a dry matter basis from the guaranteed analysis, so the numbers I get look a lot higher. You can do the same calculation here: www.omnicalculator.com/biology/dry-matter
@@AllAboutCatsYT awesome, thank you. Do you have a video explaining dry matter and what it is? I can google it if not, I just prefer video explanations over text, easier for me to interpret. Thanks

Hy, is this brand good for steril cats? I cannot find information about this anywhere
Hi there Laura, sterilized cats can generally eat the same foods as those who aren't sterilized; the only difference is that neutered cats may have slightly lower calorie needs than their un-neutered friends.
Can you please do an episode on freeze-dried food? Really intrigued by the concept!
We plan to do that soon! Thank you.
This is another brand I don’t think we have in the U.K., though I’m pretty sure it’ll be here under various different names.
Evidently, it is available in the UK. Here's their store locator: tasteofthewildpetfood.co.uk/dealer_locator/
Can you review Farmina or Primal cat food?
My breeder for my standard poodle recommended taste of the wild. I ended up switching her to zignature.
I've been watching you the videos and took your advice on the Wellness Core kitten food but I just found out that it has Carrigan in it what do you think
Could you please do a review on Wysong Optimal Vitality Cat food?
We'll consider it! Thanks.
Barf for cats
Nulo cat food, they come in 12 ounces too which help me save money
Can u please review Earthborn cat dryfood

This channel is just amazing! ❤️😸
Hi Mallory! I recently found your videos and I like them, so much useful information! Thank you!
I have a couple of questions about cat food:
- How did you find those values for protein, carbohydrates, etc?
Can I ask u something?
Are u sitting or standing while recording the video
Great question!, I think she’s sitting. Hahaha
Please also do a review of Urbanwolf Adventures and Wilderness Legend holistic cat food😀
I'm starting to feed my cats with better foods and TOTW is my first brand to try!

WOW! You solved ALL questions i had about TOW and Diamond pet foods!!:)
Here in Korea, Due to lack of information people really afraid about product of diamond pet foods. Many of pet lovers here afraid about 2012's salmonella issue.. I also worried about safety about TOW... :(
Thank you so much for this nice video!
Glad to hear that you found it helpful, Seira!
I’ve rescued my little gyal lol about 7 years ago. A dog had attacked her and left her with one eye. My sisters were really into Kylie Minogue when I was young so naturally that traumatized me and I named my cat “Eylie” 💙
Me being me i always go for underdogs (no-pun). At first she was superrr skittish. However I did my research and within that first 2weeks of getting her back from the vets (she was under 2yrs old) I have fed her nothing but taste of the wild Rocky Mountain!!! It’s amazing and really shows.
Her diet is awesome (she became a cuddler now lol🤦🏻♂️ she be all up on my neck while I try to watch ESPN) I also give her wet foods fur sure (pun-intended lol).

I loved your video! Could you research the brand "mon ami"? I'm very curious!
i was wondering if you could do an imams cat food pls
We plan to review Iams cat food soon. Thanks, Dakotah!
Is it better than royal canin?
No, I don't think so. Royal Canin puts a lot of people and money into R&D to develop formulations that address particular health issues, and this affects the quality of their food in general. Taste of the Wild doesn't do that.
i feed my cat Ziwi Peak air dried mackerel & lamb 1x a day and then Wellness Core or I And Love And You wet foods 2x a day
Your review is all well and good, but I don't know of a single mongoose or feral cat in this jungle who has been inside to gab a quick bite has ever worried if the stuff may have been made in South Carolina. The Incomparable Thunderball (eyes, left!) has eaten Taste of the Wild ever since he was a tiny kitten and now he's ten years, I don't believe the plant protein has had any detrimental effect on him.
Thanks for your thoughts, Dave.
I was just curious about, whats your take on; "Dr. Marty Nature's Feast?"
Thank you for the info...my cat enjoys this brand very very much...but, I will be looking for a better brand of wet cat food!

Good eye! You're right-Wessie and Forest both tore into the bag while it was in waiting for the review.
how many grams of wet food would you feed a 10lbs cat
It will depend on the recipe you choose, but if you're looking at the Ziwi Peak lamb reviewed here, it's about 150 grams.
To help soothe the diarrhea and vomiting you're encountering again and again, I would consider the options on our list of the best food for sensitive digestion: allaboutcats.com/best-cat-food-for-sensitive-stomach
Hope this helps!
Can you do a review to kitty diggins’?
