This is what I feed my cat, she loves both the dry and wet food, and so far likes all the flavours I've fed her. Definitely not the cheapest food, but it's nice opening the can and being able to recognize shredded chicken and fish chunks.

I have to admit the real fish chunks an quail eggs were impressive. I'm surprised she didn't show that here.

I didn't know it was low In fats my cat had dropped 3 pounds he seems fine and isn't too skinny but I hate it but he loves the kibbles and his favorite is the aloha friends he just absolutely fits nuts for the pumpkin digestive packets but I just didn't like how he lost weight I knack he was more free fed veggie but he was never fat he just had a nice pouch belly and now he is all muscle so I want rashly sure what's truly best for him.

This is a great, informative video but in general the number of contradictory videos and the comments in them is enormous and frustrating. The Tiki Mousse and wet cat food is what I used to use on my cat who had Oral SCC. It gives those cats quite a long lifespan for a horrific disease. Excellent cat food that gives longevity for cats with oral issues. I would highly recommend the mousse and wet cat food for high nutritious requirements. No Surgery, no Radiation, No Chemo and the cat lasted a good 5 months.

My older cat tends to eat a lot slower than my younger one and mostly uses her tongue to lick up wet food. This leads to her not finishing all of her pate or just licking the gravy off shreds. The tiki cat mousse has made a HUGE difference! She can actually lick it up relatively easily and quick, which means less food gets stolen by her little brother

I agree about the fats. Not nearly high enough, especially for kittens, and it should be animal based. Also, most of their canned formulas have menadione, synthetic vitamin K. Which is controversial. I personally don't feed any foods with menadione in it. Their After Dark line doesn't contain it.

My cats absolute abhor this brand. Whatever this Purina has in it, they can’t get enough of that, but tiki cat, as much as I want to give them actually good stuff, even trying to slightly mix it in with other food, they seriously sift through the tiki cat and eat the purina. By the next time we feed them, it’s 100% just tiki cat left. We’ve tried every flavor. I truly wish they’d eat better stuff.

He definitely needs something with more moisture so the Tiki Cat brand should be good for that and since it has so little fat it should help him to lose a little weight. Just happened to notice your comment and thought I'd help a little with my thoughts as a long time cat person. I figured out decades ago that if you only give a cat or dog or human one or two different foods for months or years, our digestion can get weakened to anything different, so my way of feeding has always been to mix it up always. Also, if digestion is wrecked from the wrong foods and not enough moisture, then lining of intestines thin and can be sensitive to new ingredients and of course it's more complicated, I know from lots of research and experience. Every bag or can or pouch, can end up being recalled for salmonella etc., even expensive brands, which I prefer. I had an experience with EVO food 10 years ago. My cat screamed at me, but I thought it was maybe too high in protein? OMG! I threw it away so I wouldn't give her again. I accidently found on an email that this food was recalled for Salmonella. It's been a long ten years because she fluctuates because I took her to an Holistic vet 1st, which cost $400. and ended up being a mistake. She needed an antibiotic they did not give, so she suffered a lot for a long time, which caused more damage and I spent a lot of money. Then she got to a regular vet and got antibiotic and a RX food which was a miracle!! I didn't want her on RX food forever, so Then I'd search and search for foods she would eat and would finally find something great and then the Company would change the formula, and cat would not eat. This happened several times....nightmare! Sorry, for all the wordiness, but care so want to share info. There is sooooo much more where that came from. But, my experience is changing food could cause a problem, but also when changing food can be a miraculous instant overnight cure, which I've been thru many times, it's not a variety of food that is the problem. And also, who would want to eat the same food for months or years...that would be torture. Hope this helps! I know information is so valuable. We all need to share it! I love this lady for all she does to help cats with reviews. So so valuable, and she is easy to listen to! So great!!

Hello! I have a recommendation for a video! Is it possible to test foods for the amount of Omega-3 fatty acids that is in them? I rescued a stray that sheds a lot & he’s malnourished & underweight so I’m wondering if there’s any specific foods that you would recommend to help gain weight & help his coat from shedding so much.
Maybe a video on how to take care of a stray that’s in a malnourished condition? I assume it’s maybe a little different from getting one from a shelter. I appreciate the depth you go into on food reviews & the science behind it. It has helped me a lot to choose better quality food for my cat. Thank you! 🙏🏼

They LOVE that one flavor, but they only like the sauce and eat very little of the fish, so I just use it as a way to add moisture in their diets. Also they like the broths. I wanted them to like tiki cat based on your reviews, but they won’t touch most of the foods!

After trial and error a 3/1 combo seems to work the best. I alternate the Tiki wet with Fancy Feast flakes fish and shrimp to lower the price point and get the omegas increased. Your videos are so helpful. I am curious as to what you feed your own cats if that is something you feel comfortable sharing. If not, I understand.

I've been feeding my cat Tiki cat wet food for a few months now and I've been really happy with the quality. My cat has allergies to poultry products and I found that Tiki cat was one of the few brands that had wet food without any poultry products. In terms of not enough fiber, the Aloha line which is what I feed my cat has small chunks of pumpkin which can be a good source of fiber and I haven't noticed any issues for my cat.

Most of their wet food are too low in calories because of low fat, so it is more expensive because the cat needs to eat more. They use many seafood ingredients which are not a good source especially if sourced from Asia. I agree that it’s not good to feed Tiki cat wet food as the main diet.I feed Instinct and wellness complete health wet food regularly and add Tiki cat occasionally.

I have been doing a lot of research on pet food lately. I fed orijen for years but since they sold out I’ve had to switch. So I’ve been trying a lot of different things. I have two personal cats. And my family in total have 6 cats in our care. My mom has 3 and my brother has 1. They just feed whatever I tell them to. I’ve switched all our cats to Open Farms kibble. And I’ve been giving them all the tiki cat wet food. They all really seem to like it! Even the one who previously refused to ever eat wet food! I appreciate that I can get this at Petco at well. I love Open Farms but having to order it online makes it rather inconvenient so I’ve just been getting their kibble not their wet food. It also looks good but they like this so much I’m just sticking with this. I also have been giving their wet dog food to my dog and she really likes it too.

I wish Tiki and other brands for that matter understood the needs of kittens better. They eat more than adult cats so a little case of 12 won't even last a week. Much less if you get two kittens at the same time (like you should) but they do have big packs of 24 for adults which would be a life saver! Otherwise I adore tiki. My cats do well on it both wet and a little bit of dry. I switched to Science Diet after my vet recommended it and quickly switched back because the kittens hated it.

It's hard to say. All of those have their pros and cons. Smalls can be pretty inconsistent in terms of delivery and service, but its ingredients are probably some of the best of the three. Nulo gives you good ingredients and a nice macronutrient distribution, but Tiki Cat is going to probably be a better option for overweight cats and gravy lovers. It's really up to you and your cat. I tried the after dark for my kitties and they weren’t liking the shredded texture so I’m trying the mousse now. They’re so picky with their foods! I just tried to calculate how much it’d be for my two cats. On the back it says 2 pouches every 7lbs. I’m not sure how much my cats weigh, I don’t own a scale and I’m not able to bring them to the vet right now. But I would estimate them to be between 10 and 15lbs. So that’d be 3 to 4 pouches a day each. It’s $18 for a 12 pack of pouches so that’d be $18 every day and a half. That’s very costly. I’m 17 so it’s a bit hard for me. Is there any cheaper options you’d recommend? Maybe something that can be bought in bulk? I want only the best for my kitties, I can afford this right now but I don’t know about in the long run.

My cat was on Dr Marty Nature’s Feast freeze-dried raw food, but, due to change of available ingredients, he decided he no longer liked it. Believe me, I tried several different bags/boxes. Nope.
So yesterday I went to PetSmart. After reading ingredients list after ingredients list, I purchased Tiki Cat After Dark wet food, 5.5oz cans.
Here’s the problem. At two cans/day (10 lb cat), this stuff is almost twice the cost of the previous food! $6/day?!
Does this seem right? I want to feed my cat healthy food, but I also would prefer not to go bankrupt doing so.

    • @elle6600
      @elle6600 2 года назад

How much of the Dr. Marty’s were you feeding? The feeding guides for that indicate 1.25 cups for a 10lb cat. 1 serving apparently weighs a little more than 2oz, so in a 12oz bag there’s only 5-6 servings for a 10lb cat. At the lowest possible price of $35 per bag that’s $5-6 per day to feed a 10lb cat. At the highest price it comes out to $8.13 per day to feed a 10lb cat. So, Dr. Marty’s comes out to somewhere between $5-$8.13 per day following the feeding guidelines
