Lea's original and official Disney version is about Mulan's internal struggle of being true to herself and being her true self versus the expectations of her family and society to her as a girl and as a daughter, to her duties and responsibilities as a girl and daughter to her family, to her family's and society's expectations for her to be and act meek or docile, and to her struggle in becoming a bride, all to stick to filial piety, conform to society, and give pride and honor to her father and to her whole family as a girl and as a daughter, but not as her true self. Christina's original and official pop version for promotions and international release have slightly different but similar lyrics, and so it also have a different meaning. It's more about Mulan being a girl and a person, her struggle with her inner and true self and identity versus her own the hindrances and walls that stop her to be true and free just to conform to society at large and stick to the expectations, thinking, stereotypes, etc. of society to her as a girl and as a person. It is less about her obligations, duties, and responsibilities to her whole family and the honor of her father as a girl and as a daughter, but more about her self and identity battling against the world and trying to break walls and barriers that stop and hinder her to be true and free. Christina's is more about Mulan and her self than about Mulan and her self within her family. It is more about any person or human being living a false, fake, or pretend identity just to conform to society, than about a girl and a daughter's role in a traditional and conservative family and society. Lea's lyrics are fitting to the animated movie's story and scenes and to the character of Mulan in the movie who struggles on her being a girl and a daughter to her family, while Christina's lyrics fit to any girl or woman, or even to any person and human who struggles on her (or even on his) true self and identity to be truly free.

I like Lee Suhyun the best. The voice is fresh and powerful matching the character so well, considering Mulan is just in her early 20s or about to be 20. Mulan more or less is like a teenage girl not yet an adult woman. Chirstina's version is super powerful, but her Mulan is too mature like 30s-40s already, so I think her interpretation doesn't match with the character of Mulan.

Lee Suhyun of AKMU have a very angelic voice, a voice I can listen to 24/7. When she sings, I feel like I'm in cloud nine. Ms. Lea for me is the best version, she tells me the story. overall I love all the versions and highly respected all the singers.
AKMU (Akdong Musician) is a brother-sister duo. They are seriously both so crazy talented. I highly recommend listening to some of their own songs. They are so good.
There’s a reason why Lea Salonga was picked to sing the theatrical version of Reflection. The version used in the movie. Not the pop version. There’s a big difference between a theater music legend and any other style of singer. Lea Salonga...... named a Disney Legend. There aren’t many of those. The singing voice of 2 Disney Princesses.

Couldn't agree more! Christina's version is the best in technique. But Leah's version is one that tells the story. Korean's version gives me goosebump maybe because it was sang and recorded live. But then, Leah's version is the one who makes you remember the movie. The storytelling prowess of Leah is just off the roof. Something you can expect ofTony award winning singer.
I agree on most parts, except for the "technique" bit. Leah has the best vocal technique (placement, pitch, diction, etc), in addition to the storytelling abilities as you pointed out. Xtina, however, has the most powerful vocals and the most excessive stylistic choices (her signature).
I'm sorry but i also disagree with technical aspect. Lea is more technical singer than the rest. Being a technical singer is how ur placement works, ur pitch, how smooth ur transition from high to low or low to high, the pronunciation, the diction, reaching the notes without struggle. Christina can be considered as powerhouse because she practiced and learned the growl and rasp. That became her signature.

Suhyun’s from AKMU voice is truly crystal clear. I melt every time I hear she sings.
I KNOW, RIGHT?
The 1st, 2nd and 4th versions are excellent covers of Lea's.
This made me laugh! 😆
哈哈哈
Daymn savage 🤣
No offense meant nor bad vibes with the other 3 singers, they did marvelously, but when it comes down to nailing what the story is all about, Leah just hit it right on the head😍❤️
It’s Lea, no h. But pronounced as Le ya, not Lia ( westerners tend to call her Lia)
@@remski1201 my bad, i knew there's something wrong😉🙏
No one can ever replace the original. Periodt
I like Lee Suhyun’s version, but I like Lea’s better.
Honestly, I can feel the emotions more in hers than the three...
But I also like Lee Suhyun’s version because it feels so modern
In my opinion, “powerful” singing isn’t always better.
Yes I agree
And power is not about being loud
@@yunisee4057 very well said!
Then why Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Christina and Beyonce are still famous and relevant even though it's not their prime years right now ?
@@clarkbryce6703 I'm not saying singers with powerful voices aren't good singers. I'm just saying there are songs that doesn't go well with that style of singing. It's just my opinion, you don't need to agree.
Lea sings naturally, you can feel her voice and understands the words clearly. She creates beautiful sound and not noise.
This is why i wanna go to the Philippines and drink their magical water
😀😀❤️
LMAO what water?
There’s no such thing as magical water...only God given talent..❤️❤️❤️
Maynilad water is our magic water. Dont boil drink straight from the faucet.
Yeah drink our magical water here direct to the faucet to have a magical voice :)
The guy is a better judge than this woman
Exactly!
True
They talk too much.. while the video is playing
And the volume is soo low too
She doesn't know how to answer the question!?!?
Who sang it better!?
Wait till they see Lea singing in Miss Saigon, she was to damn powerful in there like dang
Still Lea..the 2x Disney princess. Love her princessy crystal clear voice. There was a video of Lea singing this song in 2011 where she awarded as Disney Legend.
Other voice coaches react to Lea Salonga ,they said she is the perfect and one of the best singer of Disney character. Thats why she also won in Miss saigon. Her voice clearer than my future. Her pitch is clear and clean.
Lea Salonga is really a great singer and famous in theater and she is the original singer, who sung that OST of Mulan and Alladin.
Ofcourse lea's version is the best but that korean singer gives me a goosebumps. She's so good.
Ms. Lea Salongga is the best. The way how she sings the song, it made me imagine what is actually going on within the movie.
Lea Salonga!!!!! Story telling, emotion, clarity, vocals, technique, etc.
LEA IS THE BEST!
I agree, Lea's version iss definitely the best.
I personally love Suhyun's version but Lea's will always be the best for me because I also sang her version as my first public performance long ago
Other than Lea Salongga, the only person who did this song justice was Suhyun✨
Who sang the 'reflection' song better? Of course, the original!!! Ms. Leah Salonga.
Of course the original is still the best
No one beats the original.
for mulan 2020, pls. react to christina and katrina's version
A song should be sang with a heart and not just bcoz of belting power, and the lyrics should be pronounce clearly for the listeners to feel the story of the song...who sang it the best? None other than the original one, disney princess Lea. 😍
Gp
Of course, Lea's version is the best. She's the original Mulan.
It's still Leah Salonga. You should listen her singing that song live.
Original Mulan was sang by Ms. Lea Salonga before became the debut song of Christina Aguilera,
Fun Fact ❤️
Mulan is a disney movie that is why Lea's voice fits perfectly eventhough her version is the shortest. It should sounds like theatre song..
LEA SALONGA ORIGINAL VERSION, DISNEY VOICE.
Lea Salonga is a legend, i love her voice
Still Lea's version still stood up she doesnt need to Scream to prove herself✌️
I like Christina and coco but Ms. Lea is the best 🙂🇵🇭💓💞
Lea’s version is always the best. Right interpretation and emotions.
lea salonga no contest. she's literally employed by disney to sing their songs.
Lea is the better singer
Mulan is an old movie... Christina and lea was young then...
Lea's voice sings to "express", not just to "impress" the listeners and that's what singing is all about.
Leah the original version nailed it. She's not only singing but she's totally telling you a story 💋❤️🥰
Lea Salonga sang the original and official Disney version while Christina Aguilera also sang the original and official pop version for the animated movie back then. So, both of them sang the original "Reflection" versions. One is for the Disney version and voice for Mulan's singing (Lea Salonga), and one is for the pop version for promotions and international release (Christina Aguilera).
But according to most sources I searched afterwards and later on, like in Wikipedia for example, Lea recorded it first in 1997 than Christina in 1998 and other international versions from other countries which varies from 1998 to later years, but also according to Wikipedia, Christina's version was released on June 1998 while Lea's version was on August 1998. So, I think and guess that makes Lea the OG compared to Christina, because she recorded the song first, but still in end, I still don't know that much.
Agree!!! Also Christina made the Spanish version that it's very accurate like in Spanish the meaning of the song it's pretty deep too, for me Christina's version's are and will be always the best, but the other singers are crazy good too this is just about preference cause they all good!!
Its 1995 not 1997
@@jhanfrancisbetcher5367
The 1997 was based on the Wikipedia article of the song "Reflection" and accordingly was the year Lea recorded the song for Disney's music soundtrack and for the animated film in 1998.
Wikipedia articles are sometimes not always right and aren't much reliable as a source, but we can't deny that it's the easiest and most go-to outline for information, and it's up to thw person to do further personal and individual research for more reliable sources, resources, etc.
Lea Salonga's version is the best for me of all time, I can relate and it makes me wanna cry all the time I watched the movie-beautiful version!
Lee Suhyun always makes me melt, she’s one very talented singer, especially live. Her voice is, angelic, beautiful and crystal clear. She really suits Disney princess vibes
Lea Salonga is standard. She owns this song ♥️
They're standing out in their individual techniques and style. BUT Lea really show the right emotions in every line of the lyrics. Bringing out the right vibe to feel when listening to this song. Everything is perfect especially the pitch 💗
All of them are good with different technical styles. Lea's voice fits the song perfectly. Shes a very good story teller.
Ms. Lea Salonga hands down. Not even a debate here.
The Queen of Disney princesses. Lea Salonga.
There should not be a vs because this is Ms Salonga's song.
Of course WHO ELSE??? The ONE & ONLY ORIGINAL...
Ms. LEA SALONGGA❤
obcourse proudly says lea salongga from philippines 😍 the voice was so clean and refreshinq to hear 😍🤗😘
Very telling the story what she feel inside Miss Lea have aperfect pitch.
The guy had a good taste... Even the first sound his ears hear are awesome 😂
For you to sing a song,
You have to understand the meaning of the song and place yourself in the situation.
In this song, I prefer Lea Salonga and the Last one. Very emotional. ♡
They can not sing the way lea sings... that's why they created their own versions. 😆😆😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣Your a joke...typical pinoy..
Hahahha Natumpok mo. Dnaan na lang nla sa pataasan❤️✌️kht mskit s tenga
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The original Lea Salonga gave me goosebumps. She has the BEST version!!!!
Dinosaur is my favorite 💯
There’s a reason why Lea Salonga was picked to sing the theatrical version of Reflection. The version used in the movie. Not the pop version. There’s a big difference between a theater music legend and any other style of singer.
Lea Salonga...... named a Disney Legend. There aren’t many of those. The singing voice of 2 Disney Princesses.
the last clip by Suhyun is from a music show called Begin Again, you guys need to check that one out because it's amazing, she also covered into the unknown and sang it while actually ice skated
Is it here on RUclips?
@@evelinaanntolentino6775 sadly no, unless the Korean song covers, BeginAgain RUclips channel didn't upload all the western-covered songs. But you can watch it here minute 17.13 to 22.10 (Suhyun - Into the Unknown) kisstvshow.to/Show/Begin-Again-4/Episode-9?id=24936

"High production song" you say to Christina?, high production auto tune 😅
Leah Salonga's 🇵🇭 is just pure talent. 😉
Lee Suhyun is a New DISNEY PRINCESS!!! I LOVE HER ANGELIC, CUTE VOICE and tone... Her voice is so soothing... She is the winner for me!!!
I love Suhyun because her voice is crystal clear but I am down to the OG! ALL HAIL LEA SALONGA!!!
Xtina isn't a technical singer. She's a powerhouse with a powerful vocals but she pales in comparison to lea when it comes to technique.
Oh my gosh !leah is a vocal coach she knows a lot of techniques for your information lol😂😜
