- So I've been seeing all these tiktok videos of people rubbing their eyeliner for a "lived in" look and I wanted to give it a try for this super quick, glam but effortless grunge eye makeup. I consider it a bonus when I’m too lazy to take off my makeup before bed, and I wake up with my mascara smudged onto my lower lash line, I’m like cool I have eyeliner on and I didn’t even have to try.😊

actually those shades look perfect with your skintone and eye color. the fact that it matches your dark circles wouldnt be a downside, just that the dark circles needed more definition and shape

I’d love to see more colorful grungy looks! I’m trying to learn how to use more fun bold colors in my everyday looks but I’m struggling a bit. I always overdo it with fun colors for daytime and wipe it off before getting on a video call or going out to run errands😅 maybe my placement of the color or blending needs help… idk ugh. Literally just wiped off some pretty turquoise color I was trying to make work lol

Would be cool to do kind of a “levels of grunge” video which I guess would work for any aesthetic, just going from extremely minimal grunge to full glam grunge in 3 or 4 looks if u get what I mean. Loved this though, the colours are very nostalgic for me bc I used to wear basically that colour eyeshadow all the time when I was like 15 😂

I personally love this look, but as a med student, rubbing too much your eye can damage your cornea; so please if this is your daily makeup use a brush. You can apply the liner directly with a brush or draw a line and blend it then. stay safe, Alex and everyone ❤❤❤. btw Alex, I love your videos. They help me with my anxiety crises 🩶

I like that, "my dark circles, but glam". Perhaps the dark circles mean you were born for the grunge look. It does look good on you.
In traditional Japan, the women who wore white makeup in addition to richly brocaded kimono and elaborate hair + accessories, whether for theater, dance, as sophisticated companions(!), etc., wore bright red lips (underpainted) and red accents on the outer corners of the eyes because Japanese lore is full of powerful beings like vengeful female ghosts (e.g. onryō) and the bright red represented life to banish evil away.

I love the look! As someone who also has an olive skin tone, I personally find those coppery orange tones are unflattering on me as well, so I would just adjust the colors to make the look suit me. 💜

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I met Yungblud after one of his concerts and after talking about his eyeliner, he shared that he literally puts it on and then rubs it in just like you did! He said it takes him about a minute total and looks better as the night goes on as it gets grungier.👨🎤He said Charlotte Tilbury shared that tip with him when she gave him a bunch of makeup when he was just starting out! I never thought I could pull it off (I'm in my 40's) until you did this tutorial....You always make everything look so easy, but I think even I can manage this look! I know you've already done a couple glasses focused looks but would you be willing to do any more? I have a super high plus prescription so I can't really see what I'm doing (even with magnified mirrors) so anything with a wing or extended inner corner just looks strange with my magnifying glasses
