- Ruby Franke and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt pleaded guilty following their arrests in 2023. The duo held Franke’s two young children captive in Hildebrandt’s Utah home and subjected them to various forms of abuse. Both Franke and Hildebrandt could spend up to 30 years behind bars. Jodi asked the fathers to separate and have no contact with the kids or wives for therapy to reunite with them later on. He had no clue what truly went on at the house.
He knew for sure. He was 100% involved. Ruby and Kevin denied their kids food regularly. It’s all on the internet. Clear. Also, I beleive the case is so simple: Kevin was “separated” as a hoax to make it look that way for an Alabi. He knew Jodi and Ruby were going to get property in Arizona and murder those 2 kids. So they needed an outsider to look out (Kevin) the first step would be to go to Jodi’s and start the severe abuse. But that luckily has ended! It is so clear to me. And Utah law makers are disgusting. Do they abuse kids in Utah? Max sentence in Utah for child abuse is 30 years??? wtf.

I agree. In the phone call recordings, she only spoke about herself, and "her sentencing" never asked for kids never showed remorse on her crimes never mentioned she was wrong never cried for her kids. She instead spoke as an expert in the court system and jail.

Exactly. I won't let my kids watch them either. So many of my kids friends love Ryan and all these kid bloggers and it's just so sad... I've been against it since the Daddy o 5 incident. And THAT, just like this, was right in everyone's faces.
I've got a feeling that a lot of these views are just little kids, watching these things like it's normal. My kids get MAYBE an hour of RUclips a day and I sit with them and make sure they only watch certain channels and videos for these reasons. You just never know..
Not to mention how so many kids are walking around with the same attitudes that these parents and kids have nowadays, thinking having mansions and personal bounce houses and giant pools and everything is just normal.
Even if the parents aren’t abusive, family flogging inexcusably exploits children, in my opinion. It’s similar to forcing children to be child actors, and often scars them for life. It also invades their privacy and makes a permanent public record of them as children.
Its not only that. Daily family vlogging is, at its core, ethically and morally wrong to do to children. It needs to be regarded as child exploitation worldwide and RUclips needs to demonitize channels that overexposed children to the public.

This older man who opened his door to help RF is so kind. He reminds me of my father. He choked up while trying to communicate to dispatchers. He and the lady were heroes on that day. ❤️

Their names are on the police documents that were released; but the couple has indicated they don’t want too much public attention. In general, it appears most media reports now are honoring that desire by not saying their names.
The pure relief that boy must have felt when he finally got help.

That young man was so brave to run. He saved his sister's life.
Ruby was saying how awful it was for her to hear other inmates screaming and banging, yet we learned from her own journal that she wasn’t phased AT ALL by hearing her own children doing the same thing! She’s a sadist. She got joy out of it. 🤬 I really hope there are plenty of copies of her journals going around the prison.

Her diary is plainly worded about the deprivation of food and water on a regular basis. No mention of depriving games, like any other normal parent. Misunderstood, is a bunch of lies. Read her diary in her own handwriting and you get an accurate measure of this torturer.

I am glad you point that out. I think all of them should be compensated for those things that will stay in their nightmares for the rest of their lives.
I’m 21 and going to be a emt in a couple years, it’s just part of the job but a sad part, you can’t really think about all the tragedies you witness you just have to shut that part off in the brain or else it will get bad.
Super traumatic for them but more Deptarments are understanding the need for self-care and trauma therapy.
She's getting exactly what she did to her kids, no privacy, no technology, no doors, no autonomy, no friends, and no freedom.

I love how Franke said "The worst part is how misunderstood I am." Is she talking about the wounds on her escaping son's body? Were those misunderstood?
Her poor me tears about being a "mama duck" , "waddling the kids to safety" in spite her son tortured and emaciated by her is nauseating.
That bit made my skin crawl. No one misunderstands the results of her actions and there is not a single excuse for them.

After everything he was put thru, this brave boy made sure to still be polite and respectful. He asked for a favor so gently. And still showed blind loyalty to his family by not wanting to discuss “personal business.” I’m in awe. I would love to give them both a taste of their own medicine, but they don’t even deserve my energy. We need to focus all of our healing energy towards those children. ☹️

One correction: Jodi is NOT a psychologist. She has said that she is but in reality she's far from it. Jodi does not have the academic degrees, clinical work or licensure to be a psychologist. I believe she practised in Utah as a mental health counselor. She has a history of making herself sound more accomplished than she really is.

When you hear that older gentleman break down in the 911 phone call, you KNOW it must be BAD !!
I heard the entire 911 call he made. He had trouble explaining to the dispatcher how weak and sick the kid looked.
The way R walked to the chair to sit down broke my heart. Looked like his little legs were gonna buckle

A big reason he broke was also his wife’s tone of voice, when they realised he was an abused child who was severely scared to open up.

That's wild to me they're only getting 15 years, not just because of the nature of the crimes but I think they found journals saying they wanted to kill a couple of the kids? Thankfully if they serve their full sentence both women will be infertile and all the kids will be nearly adults, so there's that at least.

The DA claims that Ruby Franke expressed remorse. I see no evidence of that in any of phone calls. She expressed remorse because jail wore her down. She couldn’t endure it. Her kids endured much worse. They’re stronger than she is. They endured 8 years of abuse. She should endure more than four.
The DA should be in there with her. His job was to advocate for kids. Being eligible for parole in 4 years isn't justice. Should have been 15 minimum.
Her attorney should go to jail with her.

He sentenced them to the maximum sentence available to him. The Utah sentencing has an unusual sentencing structure.
Yeah her true sentence is down to a board of people, I have no doubt she'll only serve 4 because I think that it's all anonymous and Utah is still a highly religious state

That's really not true, most prisoners aren't going to risk getting more time on their own sentences and child offenders are often kept away from the general population anyway.

The photos of the children on the 20/20 special were horrific. I have no doubt had R not escaped those children wouldn't have survived much longer. These women need to to serve every year they were given.
I realized after watching the 20/20 episode that R initially asked to be taken to the police station not to report Jodi and Ruby but because they had essentially told him that he was so evil that he would go to jail after the abuse. Imagine how awful it must have been for that child to believe that he was going to jail and to choose that over living with these witches.
And when he changed his mind and only asked for that “favor”, giving up the second “favor”. I wonder if that was either to help his sister, which he realised he would need the cops for anyway - or if the second thing was - he was willing to not ask for water / food, if they would only take him to the cops.

Even Jessi Hildebrandt (Jodi's niece, who uses they/them pronouns) said in one interview that they begged the police to have them arrested because they were desperate to get away from Jodi. Hearing Jessi's story was so sad as well. I can't imagine what they went through at the hands of their aunt.

I hope they are placed with cell mates who were abused in childhood. Those emotional wounds never heal.
Time for some prison justice. The court sentence will not be long or harsh enough for justice to truly be served.
Unfortunately, a lot of people who were “throwaway” kids gravitate to exactly these kinds of manipulators as adults. Or rather, their psychological wounds and continuing vulnerability attracts the kind of people who have a sharpened sense for it - since they like to crate it.
I understand the sentiment, but even prisoners need basic level of physical safety.

Don't worry. They may BE protected, but they won't FEEL protected. 24/7 women will be screaming threats at them and telling them what they want to do to them. Women will be banging on their cell doors and screaming threats whenever they are cuffed for shower.

From her jail house phone calls, it seems like she took this sooo lightly. Assuming she’ll be let out on house arrest and describing the whole thing as being “exaggerated”. Her husband on the phone sounded like he was more committed to Ruby than the wellbeing of the kids. Spineless… he should not get these kids either!

@@Justice55339h you should listen to the jailhouse phone calls and the police questioning video. He had no questions or regard for the kids. Only for Ruby to know he stood by her. Also when they were together plenty of viewers called child protective services on them since he was part of the abusive tactics. It’s all recorded on RUclips. No excuse. Children don’t ask to be born. Parents have a duty to protect them. Not seeing your children for months to a year is completely unacceptable and negligence at the least.

Yes. For some reason Ruby seems to me to be even worse. More calculating, more aware of societal norms, and just unable to hide her glee and satisfaction at the children’s suffering. She likes to play with her victims and headf*** people.
Jodi seems more “genuinely deluded”, if that makes sense. Somehow less aware of her own appetites (her greed and her need to dominate & control others). She seems much less guarded, less crafty, more self-deluded. As daft as that sounds.

I was shocked by the amount of time they got considering what the mother did to her kids and that she allowed another woman to abuse them in the harshest way. For the mother to cry about the sounds in prison and how she is misunderstood?? Did I hear that correct? Seriously, this tells me that she does NOT understand the abuse and crimes she committed against her children. Wow.
When you think that the little boy was hours away from being too weak to escape, perhaps a day away from sepsis, gangrene or kidney breakdown.

Emergency responders took great care. They sat with EF for 4 hours until she felt safe and SHE made decision to leave closet.
When I read that, I almost cried. Such patience and kindness!!

Ruby was saying how awful it was for her to hear other inmates screaming and banging, yet we learned from her own journal that she wasn’t phased AT ALL by hearing her own children doing the same thing
That little boy is so strong and such a hero. His persistence saved him and his sister... and I believe his other siblings as well. Bringing this to light is extremely brave, going against his mother was extremely brave. My heart aches for ALL of those children. I have a 13 year old and it makes me sick to think of him having growing pains, much less being abused to such a disgusting degree. Ruby and Jodi should be under the jail, and that's just the start.

Her speech to the judge was self serving! She was upset that she got caught and was looking for sympathy from the judge. Prison will be an eye opener for her!

The interview with the public defender was very informative. I appreciated the insight into some of the ins and outs of prison life, and I took pleasure in the fact that Ruby and Jodi will be living SO FAR out of their comfort zones.
All those restrictions....gee, kinda like the restrictions they imposed on those poor kids. Minus the actual torture.

Thank you to the neighbors. I always hear reference to the gentleman’s call, but has anyone mentioned how the woman who knelt down in front of R did it as a caring mother would. Ruby had no caring spirit for her children. Praying for the children to find loving and caring arms!🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽

@@ticketyblue3080 Yes, I’ve been saying that for months. Ruby didn’t want 6 kids. But her religion brainwashed her into becoming a mother of multiple children. Sad. The resentment is so obvious. I think she admitted to not wanting the 5th or 6th child but her husband wanted more kids.

They told the kids that they are "never" going home. If R would not have gotten out, and they would have completed the move to a more secluded location, I doubt they would have survived. Hearing what is written in the journals sent chills through me. Praying that they get the help needed.

And his other sister was occasionally brought to the home as well, which is why the little boy thought that they were two more kids in the house. so I’m wondering if some of the blacked out stuff is about the other child, and that more charges will be brought on. Because if she was brought to the torture house, she definitely had things done to her too. I’m wondering if she was also going to be moved to the Arizona house with R & E.
i highly doubt a 3rd child was abused as much...the two middle girls are already 15 and 17 years old and can't be pushed around mentally or physically as easily as the 10 and 12 year old kids@@laurawhite9822

The neighbor said something interesting. When he was on the phone with the dispatch, he said, ‘and we know there have been problems at this neighbors house’. It makes me wonder ‘what’ kind of problems🤔

The neighbors had been calling CPS for years and nothing was ever done to stop the abuse.

@@palace927 The neighbors from Ruby’s home in Springville, UT, well as Ruby’s oldest daughter, Shari, had been calling CPS. As far as I know, no one had called from Jodi’s neighborhood in Ivins, UT. Maybe they did, I just haven’t read or seen any reports about it.

Refusing to speak with police should NEVER be looked down upon regardless of circumstances.
We have, at least for now, the fundamental right to have an Attorney present at questioning if we so choose.
