Ruby was abusing her kids waaaaaay before she met Jody. Maybe she wasn't abusing them as badly physically, but she was absolutely still abusing them.

I love that neighbor. "Sit down son." So empathetic and kind. His voice on the 911 call, heartbroken. Just a genuin man.
I liked how he started a little defensive with the "what are the favors" probably thinking it was for a boyscout magazine drive or something, then switched immediately into dad mode when he saw it was something serious.
It was so sad to hear that neighbor telling them about this little boy and broke down crying. That really got me. 😢

Ruby fallowed Jodi because she found in Jodi someone who has the same brutal values towards children. I don’t believe she was brainwashed at all. Ruby found someone who validated the abuse she had already been inflicting on her children, and I hope the parole board sees it that way too.

I love how Ben Chew openly admits he doesn't believe Ruby is sincere - that type of evil seeps to the core. He said "something much darker" and I believe that she also chose the route that could influence a lesser sentence. I hope they charge her to the max and our community starts raising awareness that freedom of religion is NOT freedom to abuse. Ever.
Initially I was upset they brought Johnny depp's name into this, but ben's analysis is better than the other experts they've talked to on this channel so, now I'm ok. I guess lol.

Ruby got off on abusing her children. Some people drink, some do drugs, some people over eat…….Ruby’s drug was abusing and torturing her kids. She is evil on a whole other level! I hope she NEVER gets out of prison.
To be more specific, her drug of choice is control. And the ultimate control is forcing someone to submit to you by inflicting pain onto them. It’s the same reason men gRape. It’s the same driving force. It all comes down to narcissism.

Ruby was abusive towards her children way before Jodi Hildebrandt. And Kevin went along with it all the way.
I don't know a whole lot about Kevin, as I'd never heard of these people until Ruby and Jodi were arrested, but those were his children to protect from all harm, as much as they were Ruby's. He failed them all, miserably. Those kids deserve a life where they are loved and nurtured and protected, and that won't happen with these people.
With all that I've seen the full interview of the father twice..I believe he was actually controlled and brain washed by his wife..sort of cult like..the wife co trolled him also

The irony is not lost that the cop lets Ruby know that the cuffs were loose enough to get two fingers into them, while R's restraints were so tight they wore deep wounds into his ankles and wrists.

I'm glad Ben used the word "torture", because I've heard people call it "religious extremism", "child abuse" etc, but when you look at how they were treated, the enduring suffering, and physical/emotional harm done to those young children was nothing less than torture!

Worked as CPS Investigator for 25 years. I have seen cases of neglect- predominantly related to parenting capacity/intellectual deficits/failure to thrive--- seen parents feel horrified and regretful in situations--- this particular case is extremely horrifying- the deliberate, systematic, scheduled abuse seems to have sickeningly brought some sort of perverse satisfaction. I'd be extremely interested any forensic/psychological reports on these two.
She said : im not done, after being arrested. She truly believe the kids are the devil, and I 100% she would have ended them if R didnt escape. 4 years is not nearly enough. She is treated better in prison than what her childrens suffered

The neighbor did call the police and cried, explaining how the boy looked it was so heart-wrenching

That's what I thought too. It doesn't bear thinking about what she would have done to him if she could have gotten her hands on him, she looked really angry. The courage of this little guy, who was dehydrated, starved and suffering from infected wounds is absolutely amazing. I hope and pray that he heals mentally and physically. I don't believe for one minute that she is in anyway remorseful. She is evil personified and I hope she is in prison for the maximum time possible.
I just read rubys journal entry! She literally shaved her baby girls hair off because she was "acting" sick, and couldnt complete the physical torture task her mother ordered her to do. Thats fn SICK.

Ruby only made that speech because on her jailhouse call she said if you sound remorseful they will give you a lighter sentence. She’s not sorry she just wanted less jail time.

Ruby waterboarded her son and the prosecutor said she should be let out of prison in four years. 😡🤬
The prosecutor is an absolute fool who was easily manipulated by Ruby's "Thank you I want to go to prison, you're not sending me to prison speech."
The prosecutor did not say this, it was misheard by more people. In the press conference he said "at least four years". In later interviews he said he wants her in prison until the youngest children are adults AND capable of handling the relationship with their mother.

I cannot get over that poor boys legs. They would have kept going till he died. And Hildebrand clearly intended to try to keep his sister if the police would not have entered the property.
I read that Ruby had written in her diary that in Arizona they would drop R-E in the desert...
I believe it was said Ruby and Jodi had been looking into buying property/land in Arizona and actually found a place and we're preparing to move. Had that had happened, who knows what could have happened to the kids.

I can't imagine they would have gotten away with it since the kids have older siblings and a father who would have eventually discovered their absence but no doubt it would have happened. They were making them do manual labor all day in the desert heat and depriving them of food and water.
When the neighbor said. "Have a seat son." and seeing this young boys legs broke my heart. Children are a gift that parents should treasure and protect from danger. Some of us sadly cannot have children of our own and then you have this 'mother' who was blessed with kids, yet became the danger they should have been protected from.
Watching the elderly gentleman was amazing. He seemed annoyed at first, when he saw what was going on he immediately came out to help him. I can't imagine what he was thinking when he saw RF.

I've teared up every time I've seen that video. That gentleman and his wife showed that little boy more empathy, love and compassion than his mother ever has. The fact the gentleman teared up on the phone tells me all I want to know about how bad those wounds were.
One of Jodie’s previous victims - her niece - said that she is so terrified of Jodie if she gets out of prison she will leave the country. She states that Jodie is so dangerous that she should never be released

Honestly, to me it sounds like the husband is extremely passive, obsessed with his wife, and will do anything to please her. I don't believe he actually thinks the kids are evil. I think he just goes along with whatever his wife says because he's so desperate and codependent on her.. in a way he's a victim of hers as well. Jodi treated him terribly and they together began treating him like a pariah. He wasn't even allowed to walk freely in his own home, but he abided by their rules because he's again so codependent on Ruby

He says he loves his wife, he doesn't once ask about the kids despite being told they had been abused badly enough that they'd been taken to hospital.

@@kateashby3066 The abuse did not start after Kevin left. The abuse was going on for years while Kevin was living together with Ruby and the kids. However, it did get extremely serious when he was gone. He is still complicit. That precious little boy is a hero and he and his sister are very fortunate to still be alive and hopefully healing!
That Jodi was already on the phone to her attorney says A LOT before the cops even went in.

To this day, Ruby has never seemed horrified at what she did to her children, and that she went so far as to journal it all -- both the reasons why, and the methods used, to torture her beautiful little boy and girl.
There was no mention in any of the jail calls of concern for her children. Or how was she ever going to make this up to them. Or wondering if they would ever want to talk to them again.
A part of me feels like she did that to find some sort of last minute validation in her (sick) mind for what she was doing. That or she felt guilty for the abuse and wrote it down as a positive affirmation to compensate for how she felt. I’m not defending what she did at all, but something about the perspective and way she wrote/describes it is interesting in this case

@@moizukage We have heard that Jodi was writing things down that she said would be scripture, so maybe Ruby was having delusions that her experiences needed to be documented as well - how she overcame the devil. Sick woman.
@@yankeecitygirl exactly, and in the phone call with her husband kevin, she reacted to the children having to be in the hospital for 3 days as ‘weird’ and “unessasary”.. rusell had a blood infection and had literal days to live and eve was in critical condition aswell😐

The neighbour seemed a bit gruff at first but I am so proud of him for getting the two children the help they needed. A lot of people would've just taken the kid back home.

I’ve seen this a few times now and other then the horrific situation I just can’t get over how respectful, well spoken and polite R was. What a remarkable little boy.
As a child who grew up in a home not this bad, but also full of abuse particularly including religious abuse, this is how we learn to survive the adults around us. The more well behaved, the less wrath you're likely to incur.
This poor child is a little warrior trying to save himself and his sister and yet still loyal to his abusers.
Especially considering he had tried to get help befote and they caught him and punished him so severely. 😡 I am so thankful that they had not completely broken his will.

I remember when I was 9 years old my mom saying, "eat more. Neighbors are going to think I don't feed you." She also tricked me into eating the crust on my bread by saying the crust will give me curls.

She wanted attention and praise for her distorted behaviors. She was a sicko long before she met Jodi. I only saw parts of their "channel" following the arrest, and could not believe the reasons and the methods she used to punish them. No mother with love in her heart could do what she did. She deserves to be behind bars for a long time.

I actually remember Ruby responding back to disgruntled fans/viewers. She spoke with authority and brazenness regarding her viewers comments on her discipline approach. She boldly stated “I’m not going anywhere.” Well, apparently she was wrong about that!

I hope the parole board has access to all of these videos, and never EVER lets either of them out.

Saddest thing hearing him say it's personal when asked why needs police. This is likely because he still feels need to protect parents (normal for abused kids to feel still like they love parents despite knowing something wrong - he came to save siblings, not himself:( )

The fact that Jodi was ever licensed to practice mental health counseling is truly terrifying.

He was going along with the abuse of the kids when he was living at home.. How is making your kid sleep on a beanbag for 8 months a suitable punishment for a prank on his little brother.

The courage that little boy had to escape and ask for help is amazing. Thank goodness the neighbours were also very compasionate. Hopefully, over the next few years, these kids will be able to rebuild their own identities and find themselves, learning that they are of value and deserve to take care of themselves.
I took a trip down a rabbit hole and found the uncensored photos of the little boy's wounds. I thought the injuries may have been exaggerated. Sorry to say they were not. Absolutely shocking. That poor boy. Ruby and Jody need to spend the rest of their lives behind bars.
