The detective questioning the father asks questions and then answers them, himself. He asks the father, "Do you condone that behavior?" The father asks "Do I condone it?" so the detective informs him, "That's m my job: to figure out your level of involvement." The father says, "No, I don't condone it. That sounds-" and the detective jumps in to finish for him "Horrible! Disgusting. No human being should be treated like that. " This is not a police interview. Well.
Some rich people always have a lawyer ready lol
Plus as much crime material that I watch daily.. they always say to NEVER speak to the police unless you have a lawyer present. Guilty ir not. But especially if you are innocent Because there are way too many people in prison that are actually innocent because of them using any small detail against them.
If you get one detail mixed up, even if by pure accident, they will use it against you.
That being said. I haven't watched this case yet. Just really starting to watch the evidence here.
But I just find it odd when cops or the audience says. "If they lawyered up. That means they're Guilty"
And if they don't talk. That means they're Guilty
When that's exactly what they tell you is the best thing to do.
Like the American nightmare case. They acted like they were both guilty for instantly getting a lawyer .. their name was ran thru the dirt in the media and public
      And they were innocent. Crazy
      But. For this case.
      Yea they're definitely guilty
So doesn't have anything to do with what I said.
I just read your comment and it made me think of that case and what's always said

Jodi had a specific pattern she used with every family. She was always pursuing the wife/mother, from a romantic angle... I dont know why this almost never gets a mention, but almost no creators look into her historical crimes.
But once Jodi has the wife entirely under her thumb, she maligns the father, convinces the wife that he is a pdf file and that he will abuse the kids, it's just a matter of when.
A blackmail threat is then made: you leave the family in all ways but financial, or else you'll be exposed to the church, your family and friends, and the community as a pdf file.
She had made these public accusations against men who didn't play ball in the past, and she was always believed, so the threats held incredible power.
Which is why most of the men concede to the blackmail, giving their wife all their money, and otherwise having no contact at all

It's really notable that the LDS church empowered Jodi in her abuse to such an insane degree, they are very much guilty for so much of the evil Jodi did, by treating her as some godlike figure, and trusting her word above all others, even when that word was her saying husband after husband posed this same identical threat

This is something Jodi demanded from her clients on a regular basis: Mormon Stories Podcast interviewed another Father (who eventually left Mormonism altogether) who also got involved with Jodi at the insistence of his devout ex-wife, and one of the first things Jodi demanded was that he be separated from his family completely as part of the process.

I don’t find it strange. The courts usually take kids from the father while the father pays support without seeing the children. It wouldn’t be difficult for the wife to force him into that agreement.

The police don’t seem to have provided these suspects with the legal advisers requested. Once asked for there should be no further questioning without a lawyer present.
