@gbonk2 The father said that he left the raising of children to his wife. The LDS/Mormon Church had Jodi Hildebrandt listed as a therapist for church members. They paid the extensive bills that many families couldn't afford. The Church insisted that therapy include rules of the church. It has other therapists listed which is deeply disturbing. I would never permit my daughter to have anything to do with that evil church.
Well. Some rich people always have a lawyer ready lol Plus as much crime material that I watch daily.. they always say to NEVER speak to the police unless you have a lawyer present. Guilty ir not. But especially if you are innocent Because there are way too many people in prison that are actually innocent because of them using any small detail against them. If you get one detail mixed up, even if by pure accident, they will use it against you. That being said. I haven't watched this case yet. Just really starting to watch the evidence here. But I just find it odd when cops or the audience says. "If they lawyered up. That means they're Guilty" And if they don't talk. That means they're Guilty When that's exactly what they tell you is the best thing to do. Like the American nightmare case. They acted like they were both guilty for instantly getting a lawyer .. their name was ran thru the dirt in the media and public And they were innocent. Crazy But. For this case. That father is a piece of work. He tried to get his eldest daughter arrested, for just getting clothes from the house, for her siblings. He was also afraid someone messed with his laptop and stuff.
I'm guessing she was terrified of both. They brainwashed those kids to not trust anyone. Those poor children didn't even trust themselves. I can't even fathom their terror.
If you listen to interviews with Jodi’s niece, this was a common punishment. They weren’t allowed to talk to *anyone* even just to say hi or respond to a question. That’s probably what was going on here, she was terrified to speak because of a worse punishment.
100% I had a bully in middle school. I knew where my dads pew pews were etc, not locked up in the70's-80's but my fear was if I took one to school to use on my bully, I'd be in trouble with my dad. Police didn't scare me, my family did!

E bumped her head on the tiles while crying. That is distress and a severe psychological breakdown. E was this beautiful, bubbly, cute little girl with stunning long hair. To hear that she bumped her head continously against the tiles was so disturbing.
The proper response to “are you aware of the physical condition of your kids” isn’t “no, I trusted my wife.” It’s, “wait what? What’s wrong with my kids? Are they ok?”
True, but it also sounds like he was gaslighted by Jodie in the context of therapy for over a year. She, the therapist who was providing marriage counselling, then moved into his house and continued to gaslight him while alienating him from his wife and kids. I don't think he was likely to be in a normal mindset here, and it sounds like he was a victim of abuse by Jodie and his wife.
My ex husband was a narcissist (also a Mormon). When Kevin said that I could hear my exs voice. It’s exactly what he would have said. My ex has voluntarily not seen his kids in 3 years.
He said he'd rather have a glass of water than her as mother while in captivity. Even in his darkest hour he made sure she knew she couldn't break him. The strength and resilience of that boy is incredible.
It will be interesting to know if they recover or not. You're right, the boy sounds tough, but I wonder how things will turn out for him. I reckon 15y from now he'll either be a model citizen and something like an army officer. Or he'll be in jail for violence (even murder) or dead of a drug overdose. Prayers🙏❤
@@SoulDelSolThey were famished, denied food & water. If they got caught “stealing” (drinking water from the hose) they would be punished even more (severely). Of course any child would prefer a glass of water, than being tortured every day of their life by someone who is supposed to love & nurture them, let alone still being able to be called their “mother”. “R” is a true hero as @rjsmith5339 says, and such a strong, incredible young boy.

In the first police interview, he was more concerned about Ruby than his kids and them being in the hospital. “I trust my wife, I love my wife. Is my wife going to be charged? I love my wife.” What a loser.

The father absolutely has no business having custody of any of those poor kids. He neglected them, tried to sue his daughter while she was taking care of them, seems to care way more about his wife than them, and doesn't seem to be mentally stable himself. Those poor kids should be nowhere near him.

Honestly Ruby probably was drawn to Jodi because it was someone else validating her own evil behavior. On a phone call with her husband, when he told her the kids would need to be in the hospital for three days, Ruby said something along the lines of “that’s so unnecessary they’re overdoing it”. What a disgusting, disgusting, evil person. I hope she rots behind bars.

I agree, but in this case, it may have saved their lives. Once their birth incubator (I won't call her a mother) stopped the youtube channel, the ab*se got WAY worse. If she hadn't had the channel, some of those kids might've died years ago. The channel may have kept her in check. Just a personal theory, I could be wrong of course.
Agreed, and it ought to be not allowed for YT to keep their proceeds from 8 Passengers channel. Those funds ought to be deposited in a trust for the Franke children. There were said to be NUMEROUS complaints/flags sent to YT.... nothing was done.
When Jodi was asked “how many people are in the house? Two kids?” She responds “just one little girl”. She was on the phone with her attorney because she already knew the little boy was missing when police showed up. She knew what she had done was wrong. If not, why call your attorney when police show up after you find one of your child hostages had escaped?
In another video someone said that they had been to her house earlier about Russell and she denied knowing him and they came back after they found out she was lying. She knew they would be back

@AnaMC1 in this situation they absolutely should be first. In a non abusive situation if someone prioritises their spouse that's their business. But in this case, if I found out my husband was doing this to our kids, love him or not, I wouldn't give a crap what would happen to him!

This is exactly the reason I could NEVER be a cop. Call me names, spit on me, fight me, and I would deal with it, but discovering innocent children abused like that... As a cop I would have a gun, a tazer, a baton, and other cops to back me up at my call. I am not sure those two women would be safe in my custody.
I watch this and how twisted these women are. Then I think about the rage and distain in the comments which is completely warranted. At the same time I know that there are people in the comments who are disgusted by this, but perfectly ok with parents parents putting children on hormones that will end puberty, destroy their reproductive system and go as far as cutting off their genitals. Yet that is perfectly fine. What a weird world we live in right now.

The US is a rich developed country. Makes me wonder what tf went wrong for this to go on for so long? Where were welfare services and law enforcement? How many other children are out there in a similar situation unknown?
Well there is a daunting force that goes much deeper than a therapist (although this one is horribly dangerous). But they all three had problems before Jodi came into this couples life.

I originally intended to stay for 6 weeks, but came back after 4. The sheer number of homeless people, the street fights and the drug problems made me realise that the U.S. is not as it paints itself. It is really dangerous there.

To be fair th cop wasn't great at communicating the situation or allaying her fears. He just kept repeating 'jodies outside' and the child wanting to remain as far away as possible from her abuser decided to stay put! He could have told her 'we're taking you away from here to be with your brother, away from Jodi and your mom for now'
Did anyone else notice that immediately after LE tells the father the HORROR and torture that his son endured, he says "I love my wife. Are there any charges against her". Not "is he going to be ok", "what hospital is he at", etc. Absolutely ZERO concern for his child. Extremely telling.

In his interview with the police, Kevin said loud and clear he has no love for his children. He demonstrated that when he left them, never called to speak with them, visit with them. He has not once shown any concern for the children or remorse for leaving them in the hands of two monsters. He’s as much a horrible person as Ruby and Jodi.
At 17:33, Jodi says as she's being loaded into the police car, "I had a crash. My shoulders screwed up." It always amazes me how these abusers want the police to be so careful with them, after they spent months physically abusing, starving, psychologically damaging these children. But PLEASE be gentle with me. I have a sore shoulder!

The fact that Jody doesn't even ask why the Police entered her house, only demands a warrant, indicates that she knows exactly why they are there and who is responsible. May the wrath of the law be as harsh with her as she was with those children.

If the police came with hands on guns to my house I’d want to know what is going on and I’d assume that either there was a mistake or there was a villain in the neighbourhood and he was on my property. A warrant wouldn’t even enter my head because the idea that I’d done something so wrong wouldn’t even enter my head

Bless him. Knowing what happened the last time he escaped, it was a very brave thing to do. He definitely saved both him and his sisters lives. Those neighbours are incredible for stepping straight into action to help that little boy. Absolute angels.

I don’t find it strange. The courts usually take kids from the father while the father pays support without seeing the children. It wouldn’t be difficult for the wife to force him into that agreement.

The scary thing is she said he had run away once before but they drove around and found him. I'm thankful he wasn't too scared to try again even though she tortured him after the 1st attempt.. I'm also thankful the neighbor didn't just call his "parents" and send him back bc I feel like if the neighbors had talked to Ruby and Jodi 1st they would have lied and manipulated him into believing he was just being a difficult child and ran away for nothing. Bless those neighbors for understanding the truth of the situation and getting him help.
Ruby didn't start abusing her children after meeting Jodi, these kids were abused while she was living with Kevin and he is not absent of all guilt, in my opinion.
If that father is not also charged then a full investigation of the Washington County Sheriffs department is in order. Also investigate his position in the LDS Mormon church. This is the land of Warren Jeffs and the FLDS. So child abuse is nothing new to the area near St George Utah.
Both Ruby and the dad deserve to be behind bars, the eldest daughter shouldn’t have to fight for custody of her siblings, those poor kids need to heal from the abuse
I'm sorry to tell you, but these children will absolutely never heal from this abuse. It happened too severely and for far too long without them getting caught. These poor kids will struggle with mental health issues the rest of their lives. and even physical health issues as a result of the starvation and Trauma to their bodies.
For nowadays, the neighbor is a literal saint. He didn't turn the kid away, or thought it was a joke. He saw the kid, and knew smth was wrong and that he had to act.
That shows guilt right there. Both Ruby and Jody knew exactly what they were doing and took pleasure in doing it. Using religion to blame their actions.

The detective questioning the father asks questions and then answers them, himself. He asks the father, "Do you condone that behavior?" The father asks "Do I condone it?" so the detective informs him, "That's m my job: to figure out your level of involvement." The father says, "No, I don't condone it. That sounds-" and the detective jumps in to finish for him "Horrible! Disgusting. No human being should be treated like that. " This is not a police interview. The detective is leading the father, whenever he isn't answering his own questions.

Hey man, I just wanted to let you know that you didn't censor out R's and E's names from one part of the interview with the father -- when the male interviewer asks him a question about them. I figure it's a long shot that you'll see this, and I personally feel like it's a bit silly to censor the names when the whole family was so public, previously, and their names are already so widely known, but as you were making an effort to do that censoring, I figured I'd respect that and drop a note about the missed instance. It was somewhere around the 40 or 45 minute mark, I didn't catch the exact time, sorry, haha.
The husband absolutely knew what was happening, never asked if the kids were ok, and only wanted to talk about his wife. He is acting like the abuse started just recently, this is long term abuse. There is no way he had 0 idea anything was going on at all for so many years. This is insanity.
Ruby's daughter was not hiding in a closet. She was placed there on punishment and told not to move. She would not even move for the cops because of the implications that were placed on her from her mother if she moved.
@@jaydub2546the point is that a if a kid in a normal household is asked would they rather not have water, or not have their mom...most would choose the mom, automatically knowing that their mom will give them water if they need it. Mom is the provider. This kid was so dehydrated and knew it was a result of his own mother. So it does speak volumes bcuz that's not normal. Yea we need water, but we automatically trust our mothers wouldn't deny us something so simple and necessary, so we'd be ok briefly sacrificing it if it was a choice.
The point was Ruby was offended at took she took it to mean the kid hasn’t been controlled enough to submit completely and say that the mom was more important than water even when he was starved.

I originally intended to stay for 6 weeks, but came back after 4. The sheer number of homeless people, the street fights and the drug problems made me realise that the U.S. is not as it paints itself. It is really dangerous there.

In his interview with the police, Kevin said loud and clear he has no love for his children. He demonstrated that when he left them, never called to speak with them, visit with them. He has not once shown any concern for the children or remorse for leaving them in the hands of two monsters. He’s as much a horrible person as Ruby and Jodi.

The scary thing is she said he had run away once before but they drove around and found him. I'm thankful he wasn't too scared to try again even though she tortured him after the 1st attempt.. I'm also thankful the neighbor didn't just call his "parents" and send him back bc I feel like if the neighbors had talked to Ruby and Jodi 1st they would have lied and manipulated him into believing he was just being a difficult child and ran away for nothing. I'm sorry to tell you, but these children will absolutely never heal from this abuse. It happened too severely and for far too long without them getting caught. These poor kids will struggle with mental health issues the rest of their lives. and even physical health issues as a result of the starvation and Trauma to their bodies.
I hope they get free counseling and therapy from reputable people for the rest of their lives.

Hey man, I just wanted to let you know that you didn't censor out R's and E's names from one part of the interview with the father -- when the male interviewer asks him a question about them.

Mom is the provider. This kid was so dehydrated and knew it was a result of his own mother. So it does speak volumes bcuz that's not normal. Yea we need water, but we automatically trust our mothers wouldn't deny us something so simple and necessary, so we'd be ok briefly sacrificing it if it was a choice.
