- Utah authorities released hundreds of evidence photos after arresting Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt for child abuse in August 2023. Officers searched Hildebrandt’s home when Franke’s 12-year-old son escaped after being tied up and bound in duct tape. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks down the shocking images.

@@AnjSri686 the grandparents and aunts and uncles and all that I think should have helped but I don’t think his siblings are to blame, The eldest had moved out to escape abuse, the 2nd eldest had just moved out because his abuse is regarded as some of the worst (his bedroom was just a bare mattress on a floor he wasn’t aloud to sleep on and his floor was covered in glass when then searched the house - he also had cps called for him earlier on) the 2 middle girls were staying at another ladies house when this happened because ruby had sent them to clean her friends house, then we know what happened with the younger 2
I’m pretty sure the little boy that got to go get help from a nearby neighbor is Russell. I remember him from some of the older videos with his younger sister especially the one where they were sick that one day so I believe that is Russell because that video was like six years old or something so I believe he’s older now and I think that is Russell
The fact that it took professionals hours to get the little girl to LEAVE A ROOM is extremely disturbing. The amount of brainwashing and fear that would need to be instilled in a child for that to happen is so sad

The most disturbing thing to me here is that that doesn't seem like a home where children happen to be abused, It seems like a torture chamber that was set up for nothing *but* the abuse of children. Every room was dedicated to it. Sick and demonic.

the sound of his 911 call makes me cry every time. he chokes up and has to regain his composure when he asks about the ligature wounds on R's wrists, and R says, "it's my fault."

Her shaved head and skeleton appearance were pretty loud indictment that something is very wrong. I'm grateful the little boy was brave enough to escape, this could have ended in the ultimate tragedy. What in the world is going on with so many parents lately?

That’s a question I have. How did she know to get her attorney on the phone? Was she home when the young boy escaped? Or did she come home and see him not home. Anyone know?
And I enjoyed the cop pulling her out of the house too. The last day she would be able to enjoy the multimillion dollar home!

The fact that during Kevin’s interview he was told the conditions of his YOUNGEST children (which were horribly disgusting) and he asked if his wife (Ruby) was okay. Disgusting!
He always knew it all and never did anything to help his poor children, he should be in jail too.

He was in the videos of the abuse even before Jodi came into the picture, everyone knows it I seriously doubt that Kevin will be granted custody of the children.
Hildebrandt convinced Franke to separate from him, all which Franke detailed in her diary, that's why he wasn't charged. He's been absent for 7mo at least, and Franke was withholding the children, he also asked for the maximum punishment!!! ( No I didn't watch the full trial, but from what I gathered, could be wrong 🤷)
What about the two older kids that were already out of the house? Didn't sound like he was involved with those two at all. And he didn't know they were out of the house. It doesn't appear the older two were in any hurry to contact him.
The nerve Jodi has to say she needs to protect kids because there are abusers out there when SHE HERSELF IS AN ABUSER.

The fact that she felt the need to call her attorney BEFORE the cops came knocking shows that she knows she’s guilty. Such a sick and twisted situation.
PTSD is alive and well here at 73 years old. I saved myself by going through a window and to a neighbor's house 60 years ago. Apparently, it takes watching it happen to someone else to get through the disassociation from it all.😮

Hearing a mother calling her children evil is beyond concerning.
Those two women are the only thing evil.
Kind of like the Cheater that thinks their spouse and everyone is cheating...because that's what they do. They think the kids are Evil...because they themselves are Evil Personified!
Especially those kids who are so sweet
they're mentally sick. they treated those children like sub-humans, and then when the kids fought back in the slightest way for their own basic survival, they took it as an affront to their spiritual authority..... nasty cycle. for an educated "psychologist," jodi really didn't know what was going on because she was clearly mentally ill, herself

Ummmm no. She exercised her right. No one should talk to police without an attorney. Let the evidence speak. In this case it spoke volumes so there was no need for her to talk. It seems ppl get too caught up in emotions and watching many interrogations of ppl who don’t exercise their right to remain silent, that it’s thought talking is mandatory. It’s not.
Tbh, those detectives could’ve messed up everything by constantly talking after she said she wanted an attorney. Then y’all would be pointing fingers at them. While this is a HORRIBLE situation and they deserve the max sentence, interrogations are not solely for one’s entertainment or to satisfy whatever feelings you have. We still have rights and protocols. It’s a slippery slope when we discount those things based on emotion.

That said, I think she should have just said, "I don't want to answer any questions --I want an attorney" rather than the silent treatment which does kinda make her look even more psycho than she probably is.

My heart hurt so bad when his way of asking for help was asking the neighbor if he could ask for 2 favors. He didn’t even feel worthy enough to ask for help and that breaks my heart. Not to mention the neighbor responded in a tone I didn’t like but it sounds like he eventually understood the severity of the situation. The is horrendous and I want to hug those kids and give them the world, I hope they end up in the loving care they deserve.

Who do you think is in prison, saints? Why do so many people think prison is where people go to be punished for their deeds, and not just a block house of criminals who do, well, crime? My heart broke when the elderly man was talking to 911 and his voice was cracking trying to tell the dispatcher how hungry the boy was and how poorly he was doing. My chest hurt and my eyes were burning.
It would have been food or water, his second request, his unsureness of asking for help and trusting it be given is heartbreaking.

Not the truth at all. Innocent people need lawyers too. If the cops show up and you have done nothing wrong, the first person to call is your attorney. In those situations, let the professional speak to law enforcement.
@@jaynix4408 if a cop knocked on my door and I didn’t do anything I would open the door and talk to them like a normal person. If a cop knocked on my door after I abused and lost one of the children, I would call my lawyer first.

I am afraid they are too broken for a "normal" home. The fact that it took HOURS to talk the girl into leaving this cursed house tells you what kind of damage they did. I hope there is something in them to salvage.

I couldn’t agree MORE! I worry about the foster home/homes they’re in as well. DCF REALLY needs to be on top of these kids! They let to many children slip through the cracks! They drop the ball and abused children go from the hot pan to the frying pan. DCF goes in, walks around, checks that there’s food in the refrigerator, a bed to sleep in and the kid/kids look ok then they leave. THAT’S IT! What if the family knows their coming and sets the whole place up to look “ normal”? I know it sounds horrible but this is what happens. Then they leave. They NEED TO DO MORE!!!! It’s scary enough for a child to be in a house full of people they don’t know but for the family to treat them with anything other than love is unthinkable and unimaginable!

This is one my my main thoughts on this.
As a mom I can’t imagine doing this. It killed me to watch my daughter go through 6 days in the NICU and my biggest fear was losing her. I can’t have anymore children now how do people like Ruby get to have six children they don’t even love or want.
So freaking grateful for russell being brave enough to escape not once but twice! That takes some serious balls! She thought she broke them, but she sure didn’t break Russell like she thought she did!

Exactly he knew what was happening to him was wrong and I think we all know the punishment is always worse if they try to escape. What really breaks your heart is to hear that first time he was gone for 2 hours and I think because of how late it was he was to afraid to knock on doors.

All the officers and EMTs involved had way more empathy for these children than Ruby and Jodi ever have and did. One of the EMTs even physically cried and an officer had to leave the ambulance after talking to RF because of hearing what went on.

But let's say that during those 4 times they talked he was being abused; if Ruby was okay abusing her HUSBAND; the head of the house hold (which in the Mormon religion is like walking to a wild rabid dog and smacking it in the face) what would the husband think she was doing to the kids!

My brother took his own life. His ex-wife's councilor was Jody Hildebrandt. i remember the evil things he told me she was doing to his family.

Hearing that guy crying about that boy almost made me cry. I would prob be crying too if that kid came to me for help. Poor kid. I hope these kids get the help they need for their mental health as a follow up. Being raised like this is going to be a life long trama

If they didn't have exigent circumstances (ie. If they hadn't of been told that there were likely 2 other kids who are being abused in the house) they would have needed a search warrant, especially if they went in there to gather evidence.

My heart goes out to this gentleman talking to a 911 dispatcher. He couldn't bring himself to say abused. He handled that call better than i would have.

I watch a lot of True Crime and as soon as I hear that the family members are religious or the person grew up in a strict conservative religious household I know I'm about to hear about the most heinous crimes they've committed because of that. He was about to go into septic shock and was near death. Emaciated is too mild a word for what R and E looked like on that fateful day they were rescued finally. My heart goes out to them.

@@Daddywiseclussy I don't know but I feel she was adamant that she did nothing wrong. She did not consider it abuse at all and felt she was being persecuted. She was putting on a show at her sentencing IMO. Jody and she said they pled guilty so as not to put the kids through a trial which was somewhat true. They didn't want the kids to be out on the stand telling the horrors they went through at the hands of those monsters.
