Here We Go Again! | Race Driver GRID Episode 1

- John Traxion is back! The TOCA Race Driver 3 World Champion returns for another career mode play through. This time, I'm taking on GRID World in Race Driver: GRID.
Yes, that's correct, a brand new series begins on a different game. Technically though, it's the next game chronologically in the TOCA series. This is another Codemasters title that was released in 2008 and it brought a more structured career mode to the table than TOCA 3 did. Justin Towell gave it a raving review a couple of months ago. It only made sense for this to be my next Let's Play series.
As I get situated with the game once again, I'm still trying to figure out which difficulty to play at. After the introduction race up and down the streets of San Francisco to get my rookie licenses, the GRID World mode starts us out by taking on drives from other teams. Different jobs offer different income if I'm able to complete the challenge.
There are American, European and Japanese licenses to build on. I'll have to earn money while also earning more reputation for higher licenses. The early goal is to eventually start my own race team. I also have a nameless business manager and a nameless engineer alongside me so far. Unfortunately, the engineer is not Rick.

Loved this one. I remember MILLIONS of points in drift combos and epic LMP races atLe Mans 24 were my favourites
I've entirely forgotten about the drifting aspects, so intrigued to see what it's all about!
Respect for playing with a wheel and all the assist off.. currently playing the game myself for the first time and with all assists off it definitely gets intense

This is a proper throwback…
It was the best game i ever played on cheap budget pc, all i had was pentium dual core 3ghz cpu some 2gb ram and a 9400gt.
Made me fond of racing simulators.
Love the driving physics, graphics and sound effects like i could hear the turbo spool, intake from a car on my rear on midnight toughs it was so cool .
All faded memories, wish to play it again.
Hopefully you will be able to do so at some point! Such a great game.

@@TraxionGG Mate you gotta play different race tracks like midnight tough, yokohama dont remember the one played the most but explore more and upload soon.
I do think that this game is a bit more suited to controller than wheel, I remember feeling a bit awkward with it back in the day with my G27. Excited to see what comes next!
So far it definitely feels like you need to drive it in a super aggressive way, but I’m sure it will be a fun challenge learning how to adapt to that 😎
First episode was already amazing! This game is not as hard as ToCA 3 so the extreme difficulty is ok if you don't care about being 1st on absolutely every race and event.
I think once I’ve had a few more races to get the hang of the handling model on a wheel I will jump on extreme. I don’t enjoy playing games that are too easy so the moment I win a race I don’t deserve to win on Savage, it will change! Glad you enjoyed it, can’t wait to film more episodes 😁
My all-time favorite non-street racing game...
Playing without assists can be incredibly unfair at times, stability control off makes pretty much every car understeer and I think traction control off either cuts into your acceleration or reduces grip.
But yeah, this game is awesome in so many ways.
I like a challenge, so I guess I will put up with the frustrations😅 And agreed, this game is awesome! 🙌🏼
dont think assist off was that hard, except brake assist and I turned that on so I can avoid getting skid off the track and it was used for real race driver except the new era of F1 driver since abs was banned and yeah its still pretty challenging depending what car you are driving

Do you happen to play without assists? Turning off stability control makes pretty much everything understeer massively, unfortunately.

also very misleading first race, viper is the best handling car in game (yes, even better then r34)
You skipped many frames in many instances with heavy editing; what are you hiding? Case in point at 17:13, race time 02:55, it suddenly jumped to race time 3:03.54. Like i said, there are many other instances but i'm just pointing out one because ... reasons.
Hello! Basically the recording sessions take 40-50 minutes, so the episodes would be way too long if I showed every bit of it. I just skip through sections where nothing is happening or I am not making any overtakes, so basically you won’t miss anything important! 😊
